Cleanup tag on IndyCar[edit]

The disambiguous page was deliberately created with the unusual format based on the unusual overlapping uses of the term. It took quite a bit of discussion to arrive at the current format. Check out the long discussion on the article's talk page. It is a key page for WikiProject American Open Wheel Racing, and it is monitored closely. Please open a discussion if you would like to propose a change to the format. Remember, the Manual of Style is a guideline, not a policy. Cheers! Royalbroil T : C 12:38, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it should not be a disambiguation page? Ewlyahoocom 21:28, 24 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RFD Listing[edit]

Just wanted to let you know that I've listed a redirect you've created, try before you buy, for deletion on WP:RFD. While redirecting from a specific topic to a broader topic can be useful, I think it can be confusing to redirect from a broad topic to a more specific one. If you disagree I am more than willing to retract my listing. Thanks. —INTRIGUEBLUE (talk|contribs) 20:24, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The ISO mess[edit]

An anon had swapped the pages around using cut and paste; you reverted to the correct ISO redirecting to the standards organization by redirecting and moving. Unfortunately, that made most of the history appear in the wrong place, which I (think I) have repaired. If you see users moving pages by cut and paste, you can report that at WP:SPLICE to have it fixed. Note that the disambiguation page should be at Iso, with Iso (disambiguation) redirecting to it, not the other way around, see WP:DAB#Page_naming_conventions. Anyway, it is fixed now. Happy editing, Kusma (討論) 14:31, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Already Dead[edit]

It is a name of a book. Why did you redirect it? They are making a movie about it too.

If you don't believe me click here. OBEY STARMAN 19:04, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I initially created Already dead as a redirect to Death. But then someone moved it to Already Dead -- it probably would have been better just to make a new page at that location, but whatever. It's all good cause Already dead can redirect and Already Dead can be about the movie. Cool? Ewlyahoocom 07:52, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yah, I was just checking up and letting you know. OBEY STARMAN 13:41, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Actually I think it should redirect to the book, already dead doesn't seem to deal with death. :P

Colony Collapse Disorder[edit]

Hi. If you're wondering why your recently-added link was removed, it's because there was already a link to this on the page for the Western honey bee, which is the only species of honey bee affected; the honey bee page is intended for things that apply to ALL species of honey bees, not just the one common species. That's why the Western honey bee has its own page - so things about that species can be kept in the proper context. Dyanega 22:39, 18 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Entree[edit]

You added the mergeto Template to Entree, which reads "It has been suggested that this article or section be merged into Hors d'œuvre. (Discuss)". There has in fact been discussion on that Talk page, which is unanimously opposed to the merger, yet you went ahead with the merger without even contributing to the discussion. Could you please join the discussion? Thanks, --Macrakis 20:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Check the edit history, was the merger done here (by another user)? The page as you've left it just dupliactes information available at the other more relevant articles. In any case, now the article is/should be a dismabiguation page -- and it should follow the format of disambiguation pages. Ewlyahoocom 03:22, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, you're right, Vegaswikian actually changed it, but you reverted to the dab page version. That is a mistake, as discussed in the talk page, because an Hors d'oeuvre is actually a different concept from an Entree (in the sense of "first course"). In a full meal in France, you have Hors d'oeuvre (a.k.a. amuse-bouche, amuse-gueule, appetizer), then Entree (a.k.a. premier plat = first course), then Main Course (then Cheese then Dessert). In Italy, they are called Antipasto, Primo, Secondo. U.S. usage is of course somewhat different, since "Entree" has come to mean "Main Course", but that's another matter.... --Macrakis 14:36, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to 'Crick'[edit]

In crick, you changed the link creek which points to stream to creek (water). The creek (water) article redirects to stream. There is no need to make this change, and in doing so you have introduced an unecessary step in finding the linked article. Did you have any special reason for doing this? Since I am in the business of fixing redirects, I changed it back. Please let me know if you have any ideas brewing that require this extra redirect. Zab 02:50, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Referring to Wikipedia:Manual of Style (disambiguation_pages)#Piping: "This guidance to avoid piping means that a link to a redirect term will sometimes be preferred to a direct link, if the redirect term contains the disambiguation title and the redirect target does not." Also if, for some unfathomable reason, Creek (water) became a real page, then it would be a better link. Of course, reasonable people can disagree :-) Ewlyahoocom 04:06, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on -- when you say that you're "in the business of fixing redirects", what do you mean? May I suggest that you also review the section at Wikipedia:Redirect#Don't fix links to redirects that aren't broken? Ewlyahoocom 04:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it was originally a link to a disambiguation page. The fact of the matter is that creek served the same purpose as creek, and was probably less resource intensive. So why change? Zab 04:21, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Daddy daughter date night[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Daddy daughter date night, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but yours may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. 172.150.205.106 05:47, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

db notice[edit]

I moved Charge (baseketball) to Charge (basketball), so: A tag has been placed on Charge (baseketball), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Kg for King[edit]

Hello. Thank you for pointing out that there was already a Kg (disambiguation) page. Believe it or not, I did look before adding the Kg for King entry to Kg, but could not find (I can only assume that a mispelt disambiguation when I searched). My apologies for any confusion I caused. With regard to your second point about pointing to an article with the information this poses a problem. The thing is, the term does not apply to only one indivdual, and so linking it to a saint who happened to be a king would be overly specific and exclude others. Perhaps an article on Saints that were also monarchs would bridge this? Can the link from disambiguation be to a list? The reason I linked to Monarch was because it appeared to be the best generic fit at the time. Thanks again. Kwib 10:37, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Athlete/Sportsperson[edit]

Also see Talk:Athlete. No-one else has made a comment as of yet, and if no-one does soon I'm going to just make my proposed change. Athlete has also now been listed on List of words having different meanings in British and American English, so your original excuse for reverting my edit is void. If you've got something to add please do, but otherwise please let me know it's ok to change the redirect. Thanks, Alex9788 14:03, 20 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Flyover[edit]

I'm in the UK, and I always understood a 'flyover' to be a high-level road overpass, or one existing solely for grade seperation. I had never heard of an 'overpass' until relatively recently. Thanks for your message "...Each bulleted entry should, in almost every case, have exactly one navigable (blue) link..." And even more to the point, from the style manual: "These pages are not for exploration, but only to help the user navigate to a specific article."

I wasn't aware of this policy. I'm not sure if I agree with it (a 1- or 2-sentence explanation seems a good idea to me), but "dura lex sed lex"; if that's the policy so be it and I'll try to stick to it in future. Pol098 21:08, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

On my talk page you mentioned you changed the above to a disambiguation page. You said, "That editor didn't fix any of those links so there are now a few hundred ambiguous links left pointing at this page.. instead of being part of a template these links are plain old links, so there's no easy fix."
I am sort of curious, how would they be a template for this purpose? A lot of these pages call that page through a template, meaning it could be possible to change the reference there, but if that's not what you meant, perhaps you can give me a little insight because I am interested. Paul Robinson (Rfc1394) 05:44, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First, I didn't change the page to be a disambiguation page (sorry if I that wasn't clear). As part of a navbox-type or infobox-type template. An anon editor made similar changes (e.g. here) using some table code that looked kind of like a navbox. One change to a template (e.g. here) can "fix" all the pages that transclude it. Notability of Supersweet[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Supersweet, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Supersweet is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Supersweet, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Why did you put Repeater (student) as a redirect to grade retention? You cannot make changes if you did not discuss with everyone. I am trying to put grade retention as a redirect to Repeater (student). So that's why I put up a discussion board before it gets redirected. That's the correct way to do things here. I want Repeater (student) as a separate article instead of grade retention. There's a reason why I asked for a change of title. You did the same to continuation school. You knew that we were discussing and you just simply don't care. You just went and redirected repeater (student). that's not right. Teflon and Birds[edit]

It wasn't a very critical comment on the Teflon page, but the rationale for adding it is that bird owners often have no idea that Teflon cookware is lethal. I was hoping that having a section in a new, broader non-stick surface article would give us someplace to consolidate the duplicated information about the Teflon trademark. In any case, most users searching for Teflon are probably looking for non-stick surfaces generically and would not necessarily be interested in DuPont's trademarked use of the term. Ewlyahoocom 15:39, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
That's as may be, but they should be pointed at the PTFE article in this case, not one which has next to no information in it. That DuPont apply the "Teflon" trademark to lots of things other than PTFE isn't really relevant to us. Most people think of PTFE when they think of Teflon, and that's where we should point people unless we're really sure that they don't want PTFE. Chris Cunningham 18:46, 4 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:PaidProgramming.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:PaidProgramming.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:58, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

For The Win (Internet slang)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article For The Win (Internet slang), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of For The Win (Internet slang). AfD Nomination: Seeing pink elephants[edit]

I've nominated Seeing pink elephants for deletion. Your opinion on whether this article meets the inclusion criteria is welcome. Please contribute to the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Seeing pink elephants.

Discussions such as these usually last five days. In the meantime, you are free to edit the content of the article. Please do not remove the "articles for deletion" template (the box at the top). Speedy deletion of Kroma[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kroma requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Deadly∀ssassin 12:05, 26 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The article Accounting irregularities has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Accounting irregularities do not necessarily mean that someone has committed malfeasance. An irregularity in a company's earnings for a particular quarter might be due to a correction of an accounting error from prior years. Creative accounting implies there is a motive, and often that it is malicious.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. Ways to improve Buried Alive (performance)[edit]

Hi, I'm Prof. Mc. Ewlyahoocom, thanks for creating Buried Alive (performance)!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The page is written in promotional language, and needs to have a neutral point of view.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. Prof. Mc (talk) 13:09, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to clean it up a bit, could you have a look? 72.188.239.189 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:14, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Malankara Jacobite Syrian Orthodox church requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.syrianchurch.org/faithandtradition.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Notice

The article Michael Jackson's Thriller jacket has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Although this subject has been covered by numerous reliable sources (particularly after it was sold at auction a few years ago), I don't think it has been covered in sufficient detail that it requires its own article.

The jacket was created for the music video for Thriller. The description of the jacket’s design and the intent behind the design is already covered in the Michael Jackson's Thriller (music video) article. Information about legacy and impact on fashion can also be covered there.

Some of the claims in the article are less notable than they appear - for example The buyer, Milton Verret, described the jacket as "the greatest piece of rock and roll memorabilia in history”. Verret is the private citizen who bought the jacket so of course he feels that way. The quote about Jackson’s style in the video mentions the jacket only in passing: "In 'Thriller', Michael's outfit and its stylistic features – the wet-look hairstyle, the ankle-cut jeans and the letter 'M' emblazoned on his jacket – reinforce this meta-textual superimposition of role. If Michael, as the male protagonist, is both boyfriend and star, his female counterpart in the equation of 'romance' is both the girlfriend and at this meta-textual level, the fans." Etc.

So - definitely notable, but I think the actual notable stuff can be covered in sufficient depth in Michael Jackson's Thriller (music video). The article is already short and a lot of it is filler. (Cause this is filler, filler night…). Popcornduff (talk) 14:21, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
