January 18[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 18, 2018.

Flame Core[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Killiondude (talk) 07:24, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Rather generic term that doesn't make sense redirecting to this specific game. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 21:15, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - From searching, I see this referring to a number of different things. I'm almost tempted to propose directing this to 'portable stove', but the vagueness means that deletion is the right call. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 05:46, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as WP:GAMEGUIDE. If the song called "Flame Core" is notable, it would have been mentioned. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:30, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

White Acropolis[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Killiondude (talk) 07:24, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Potentially misleading/confusing redirect, given the actual Acropolis is also... white. I don't see it being a plausible redirect to Acropolis either, though. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 21:12, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as non-notable track from the game. If the soundtrack were notable it would redirect there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:33, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, with no prejudice against recreation if someone creates a proper "Soundtrack" section in the target article. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 14:20, 21 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Sermons and speeches of Martin Luther King Jr.. (non-admin closure) Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:37, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This was a sermon delivered by King; it's quoted once in the article, but the sermon itself isn't discussed. I suspect a reader familiar enough with the sermon to search for its title would be disappointed by the lack of content. --BDD (talk) 16:06, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Sermons and speeches of Martin Luther King Jr. That article gives the searcher what they want such as when and where the speech was made as well as an external link to the actual text. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:38, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, that's good. I won't withdraw just yet in case there are any other suggestions, but that's the sort of page I had been looking for. I was surprised that there's no bibliography as such, but perhaps that wouldn't include sermons anyway. --BDD (talk) 18:49, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect per AngusWOOF. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 00:37, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:XY, there is also a Deathball mentioned at Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs. See also #Death Ball, below. LaundryPizza03 (talk) 13:08, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Even if it wasn't ambiguous, I think the connection between this supposedly popular mod I've never heard of and Supraball—which is probably not even notable—is tenuous. —Xezbeth (talk) 08:03, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Trophies (ps3)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep and move to Trophies (PS3). Killiondude (talk) 06:03, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Given that the disambiguation is all lowercase, and that Trophies are not a PS3 exclusive feature, this redirect is implausible. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 05:46, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've definitely seen some style guides use ps3 in the lowercase, so it's not implausible, so I would keep it and create the properly capitalized title. Don't see a problem with having a properly capitalized version, since PlayStation_Network#Trophies exists. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 16:25, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was refine to Posttraumatic stress disorder#Diagnosis (non-admin closure) Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:34, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The word "tool" is nowhere in the target article. However, it may be appropriate to retarget this redirect to a section in the target article, but I'm not sure where. Either way, in the article's present state, this title redirecting to the top of its current target (without a section redirect) is a bit misleading since the subject of the redirect is not mentioned or identified at the top of the article. Christmas in the United States[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Christmas traditions#United States. Killiondude (talk) 06:04, 28 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Christmas in the US also existed during WWI and WWII, as well as in between and prior to WWI; and continues to exist today. Per Talk:Christmas in the post-war United States#Move, this redirect should be deleted so that a future article can be created about Christmas in the US in general. The redirect was created 2 years ago. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:22, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with deletion. The redirect implies the article's about something it isn't, and probably prompted that failed move request. Nohomersryan (talk) 17:42, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Christmas_traditions#United_States. This will cover the other cases for U.S. and is where all the traditions are listed by country. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:19, 30 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.

That requested move was done but opposed. Galobtter (pingó mió) 16:42, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware, but there wasn't a strong consensus in that RM. Either way, I feel this is the best way forward. -- Tavix (talk) 19:08, 13 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ehh, it's already large enough and would impede proper creation of a "christmas in the united states " article. Galobtter (pingó mió) 18:17, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
What would such an article look like that is not already at the target? -- Tavix (talk) 19:04, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in the article. Unnecessary redirect - delete. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 03:48, 7 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Well there is also Sphere of annihilation but that's the kind of notability the item would need to warrant retaining the term. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:20, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Death Ball is mentioned all over Wikipedia, in everything from Jet Set Radio Future to The Fairly OddParents. WP:XY deletion is best for that one, noting there is a similar redirect, Deathball, that targets Unreal Tournament 2004. My search for "Boost Ball" was primarily about a type of golf ball. I am not seeing any information on that in Wikipedia, so that can be deleted. Spring Ball in the Metroid sense is mentioned at Metroid II: Return of Samus#Gameplay. I wouldn't be opposed to a retarget there, but there are a few other uses on Wikipedia and I am unsure if it would be the primary usage of the term. -- Tavix (talk) 17:56, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Pointless and unncessary. Name is not in common use. Dekacarandaebonelm (talk) 17:32, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hitler Youth haircut redirect should probably also be deleted. I leave it to others if it should be nominated.--Dekacarandaebonelm (talk) 17:49, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Pichpich (talk) 17:42, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both redirects "Alt-right haircut" and "Hitler Youth haircut". Peacock (talk) 21:46, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Peacock. Both redirects are pointy. Toddst1 (talk) 22:36, 2 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both - I've seen some reporting about this, such as this story from Haaretz, but I'm wary about keeping these given the ambiguity and lack of context. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 01:24, 3 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • On second thought, providing proper context is something that the target article could do it if was expanded a bit more. I'm feeling more neutral about this, actually. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 14:26, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • The term "Alt-right haircut" is not used anywhere in the linked article. --Dekacarandaebonelm (talk) 16:48, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I read this article when it came out, and I could see myself or anyone else who read it thinking, "Hey, what's that alt-right haircut again?" and looking it up on here. Procedural note as to Hitler Youth haircut: No template has been put on the redirect nominating it for deletion, so this discussion cannot result in its deletion. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 14:34, 7 January 2018 (UTC) edited typo 02:28, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • The term "Alt-right haircut" is not used anywhere in the linked article. But Hitler Youth haircut is at least mentioned in the article, from a Twitter quote. --Dekacarandaebonelm (talk) 16:40, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per PinkAmpersand. --BDD (talk) 22:28, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Bill Gothard. (non-admin closure) Galobtter (pingó mió) 06:48, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect should be deleted because it's not even mentioned in the target article (there is an "advanced seminar" but it seems like a real stretch to connect that to "Advanced training institute," at least without any explanation or justification). ElKevbo (talk) 01:37, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would like this redirect deleted as an implausible search term. People looking for Sonic the Hedgehog are highly unlikely to look for it using the term "Lava creature". JOE BRO 64 01:24, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Agreed, not likely. Searching Google doesn't reveal Sonic as the first result. = paul2520 (talk) 03:58, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The target has been reverted to a disambiguation page per an AfD. There are no other entrepreneur articles listed at the target, so now this redirect no longer makes any sense. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 00:22, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
