"Spirit of" redirects to Yoshi's Universal Gravitation[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Killiondude (talk) 05:48, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target, and are a bit ambiguous in nature. Steel1943 (talk) 20:03, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - 'Spirit of Fright' is generic enough that it should probably be deleted. However, both 'spirit of kindness' and 'spirit of power', as general terms, both seem connected with the religious understanding of the 'Holy Ghost', but I'm not sure what to do here. The capitalization might make the difference, maybe. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 22:53, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as WP:GAMECRUFT and not even mentioned in the article. A specific video game like this should not be primary topic for Spirit of (general term) AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:22, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CRYSTAL, there is no indication these events will happen. It has been discussed that the Confederations Cup may be replaced by then. Either way, the target offers no information on a 2025 or 2029 event. -- Tavix (talk) 20:01, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:23, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - There's no way to know for sure that these events will even be held, as stated above, and deletion is absolutely the right call. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 10:13, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DENR[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. Note that DENR (gene) was created after this discussion started, so it is not old enough to have any meaningful history of page views to make a primary topic claim based off that. If a reasonable primary topic case exists in the future, consider WP:RM. -- Tavix (talk) 21:38, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is a procedural nomination on behalf of PortolaWarrior (talk · contribs) that was posted on the redirect page by mistake. That user's rationale follows: DENR is a gene that exists in ever single human, yet the Department of Environment and Natural Resources is an obscure bureaucracy of the Philippine government and unlikely of relevance to most wikipedia users (not to mention that the page is a stub in need of verification). The existence of this page as a redirect to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources prevents the automatic creation of the gene page for DENR or Density-regulated protein via the gene wiki using using ProteinBoxBot. To do this properly, this redirect page will have to be at least temporarily deleted, after which time the information automatically generated for DENR can be migrated to a new page for Density-regulated protein, followed by converting the DENR page into a disambiguation page for Density-regulated protein and Department of Environment and Natural Resources if need be. shoy (reactions) 20:44, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Shoy: just a quick note that ProteinBoxBot does not have to create the gene page only using the gene symbol as the title. To manually trigger page creation, go to http://biogps.org/GeneWikiGenerator/ and search for your gene of interest. If the corresponding Wikipedia page doesn't exist, the tool will give options on where to create the page. In this case (because we had to fix a bug that your query unearthed), we went ahead and created the DENR gene page at DENR (gene). Best, Andrew Su (talk) 00:54, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per new page -- 70.52.11.217 (talk) 03:15, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate as the acronym is ambiguous, the gene does not appear to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC in reliable sources based on a Google Books search [1], and the issue which might have required temporary deletion of the redirect has already been resolved. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 14:53, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment Department of Environment and Natural Resources seems to be a popular use of DENR but the specific organizations with Wikipedia pages are few. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:23, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Andrew Su: Thank you for addressing the concern and fixing the bug. This helps not only with the DENR (gene) page, but with other missing or incomplete gene pages that I had encountered. Best, PiWi 06:53, 19 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Comment - my knee-jerk reaction was that DENR should obviously be a dab, but page views suggest otherwise. Certes (talk) 02:00, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep redirect target to primary topic per page views; add hatnote there to point to disambiguation after moving the draft disambiguation page content to DENR (disambiguation). -- JHunterJ (talk) 14:23, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Delete The Sphere Grid, keep Sphere Grid and Sphere grid. If it's common and notable enough from being in other games, perhaps we'll eventually get an article here. Until then, there's a solid section to be pointed to. ~ Amory (utc) 22:35, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Many video games have sphere grid like mechanics now, this is no longer something confined to this particular game. Delete as overly vague. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:53, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete The Sphere Grid as a unnecessary use of the word "the" and essentially per nom. Neutral on the rest considering that this game may have been the origin of this concept, and since I currently have no opinion on them otherwise. Steel1943 (talk) 13:52, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. Leans no consensus, I'll admit, but the natural and precise wording of the redirect. The WP:RFOREIGN analogy is interesting, though. ~ Amory (utc) 23:56, 6 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seems too long to be plausible as a search term. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:53, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. The redirect is precise and lacks ambiguity. Steel1943 (talk) 15:20, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per the logic behind WP:RFOREIGN: redirects like this encourage readers to search using similar phrases for other characters, and if similar redirects haven't been created (and they won't be: I think we would agree they're too wordy to be encouraged), then the reader might wrongly conclude that wikipedia does not have the corresponding article. – Uanfala (talk) 17:54, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • *shrug* Yeah, these redirects probably shouldn't be encouraged, but I don't see any reason to delete this one in particular. It's harmless and unambiguous, so keep. -- Tavix (talk) 19:24, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is a totally misspelling. Nobody writes it that way. ZH8000 (talk) 16:33, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Perhaps a result of an OCR error transforming Küsnacht to "Kiisnacht". Still an implausible redirect. Sandstein 10:20, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - The "Küsnacht" versus "Kiisnacht" confusion seems simple enough, and maybe that town needs additional redirects made to its page, but this particular redirect about Lake Lucerne doesn't seem helpful. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 10:21, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Killiondude (talk) 05:47, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

These redirects are misleading and/or confusing. There are video games in the Super Mario video game series that start with "New Super Mario Bros", and none were ever released for the SNES or the Nintendo 64. (If I recall, the first such title was released for the Nintendo DS.) Steel1943 (talk) 15:14, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. They are no longer New, so only the legit entries titled "New Super Mario Bros." should stay. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:56, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both - Unless something formats its title as "New _____" or whatever, I'm loathe to arbitrarily label it as such. I agree. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 09:40, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete looking at the article history it was a 2003 ROM hack that changed the sprites of sprites of Mario and Luigi into Buddhist monks. Not covered in the target article and likely never will be.--72.0.200.133 (talk) 18:36, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Déjà vous[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. Most participants of this discussion agree that most of these titles are plausible misspellings of déjà vu for English speakers. The discussion also revealed several proper names that use these titles, either as a mistake or as deliberate puns. There is an emerging consensus to keep each of these titles in some form and the disambiguation option on a new disambiguation page seems most plausible. Deryck C. 11:27, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vous, or you (plural), has a different meaning than vu (seen, past participle of voir). It also has a slightly different pronunciation in French. LaundryPizza03 (talk) 08:21, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep this is the way it is heard. When you hear it the first time and try to look it up to find the meaning, you spell it phonetically as best you can. --RAN (talk) 18:05, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the first two. To someone aware of the existence of the French word vous, who speaks a language/dialect that does not distinguish between /u/ and /y/, these are plausible search terms. And I just described any English-speaker who's ever herd of "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?". Weak keep on the third. There appear to be two hair salons in the U.S. that use this (mis)spelling, so it's not an unheard-of one, but not nearly as plausible a search term as the first two. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 21:08, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep first two, weak keep third per PinkAmpersand. Double sharp (talk) 06:30, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the middle one as a plausible misspelling, delete the first as clutter that only gets in the way of searches (if a reader has enough French competence to get both diacritics right then it's difficult to conceive they would proceed to mix up two very common and distinctly pronounced words). Weak delete the third one as an implausible {{R from miscapitalisation}} for De ja vu. – Uanfala (talk) 13:37, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Dabify first two as songs from albums: "Deja vous", a song by Siegel–Schwall Band from their album Flash Forward, "Deja vous", a song by Headkase from the album The Worm County Circus. If consensus is to keep the redirect, then move these two entries into Deja vu (disambiguation). Delete De Ja Vous as song by non-notable Alyssa English. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:55, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'll note that French Wikipedia does not have an entry for fr:Déjà vous AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:29, 22 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Both songs are only mentioned as entries in a tracklist: in my opinion this is below the threshold for the creation of a redirect (or the addition to a dab page). Also, neither song title uses diacritics, so that at least makes the first redirect appear implausible. – Uanfala (talk) 18:02, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm not sure where all three of them should go, but each one seems to probably have some proper target someplace. I hope that we don't delete any of them. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 10:25, 27 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm inclined toward the dabify option, presumably at Deja vous (disambiguation) or, I suppose, just Deja vous if that's how they're both spelled (i.e., no accents). As there are actual uses with the "deja vous" spelling, this'd be useful. Easy enough to point folks to the correct spelling from there. ~ Amory (utc) 20:27, 7 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading; Mario Kart 7 is not the only three-dimensional Mario Kart game. For example, Mario Kart DS was 3D, as is Mario Kart 8. Also an implausible typo. LaundryPizza03 (talk) 06:18, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I think the search is looking for Mario Kart 3DS games. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:48, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I understand Super Mario USA targeting the nominated redirect's target, but not this. Given that this doesn't seem like a known or use acronym for "Super Mario USA", the nominated is vague at best, considering several subjects at disambiguation page SM are in the USA. It is a page that was obviously created in error. I would use G6, but a previous speedy deletion was declined. The correct redirect without a comma exists. No incoming wikilinks. Certes (talk) 11:39, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pointlessly disambiguated redirect, given that Krogan is also a redirect. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:16, 8 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was no consensus. -- Tavix (talk) 19:07, 5 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Correct name of company per reliable sources is Queen Fine Foods. Parentheses on Fine Foods is unlikely to be used as a redirect. No incoming links. Kb.au (talk) 03:17, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment company logo just shows the word Queen. [2] Is there another disambiguator that would work like Queen (baking products) ? AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:31, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per K4: this was the article's title until yesterday. There's no sense in breaking every external link to the article. If necessary, it can be tagged as a {{R from incorrect disambiguation}}. - Eureka Lott 18:07, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That would imply Fine Foods is a name of the media or company of which Queen is a part of or subsidiary. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:12, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ridiculous nickname, no evidence the game is called by it. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 06:04, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I dunno, "AssCreed" is pretty catchy, LOL. Shakin' dat AssCreed, shakin' dat AssCreed. Delete as improbable, and an idiolect neologism. I see "Ass Creed Bro Hood" used by someone as part of a YouTube username, and found it again in a piece of fan art, and that's it. No "Asscreedbrohood"/"AssCreedBroHood", and no use of anything like this in reliable sources, even gamer-centric ones.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  06:12, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as above. MOS:NEO. AssCreed exists as a redirect though. I've seen those in news articles and previous RFDs. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:39, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Procedural close. Due to the evolving information regarding this current event, the article has been renamed to "Nunes memo"; therefore, the "Nunes memo" will be treated as the primary topic of the article going forward. Swarm 08:09, 30 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Don't see related. 333-blue at 01:56, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And on and on. Clearly related.Casprings (talk) 02:01, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, but make sure the term appears in the article.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  06:17, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. It actually makes more sense for the article to focus on what we know about the memo, rather than a social media campaign surrounding it. FallingGravity 06:45, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • The ironic thing is that there is nothing credible about the memo so far. One could argue that the social media campaign is what is relevant b/c there's nothing to be said about the memo, except for unverified claims. - Enter Movie (talk) 20:55, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Quite a few sources have discussed what the memo is probably about (alleged FISA abuse). I think we should focus on that, rather than commentary from unreliable commentators. I have a feeling we'll eventually see this Memo (if only in redacted form), and by then #ReleaseTheMemo will be relevant only as background information. FallingGravity 01:10, 26 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - The article is about the far right conspiracy theory over this memo. How could a redirect that's, itself, about the memo not be relevant? It seems clear enough. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 23:01, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question - Isn't it possible, or even likely, that the Nunes memo will be a notable subject on its own if it is released to the public? I have no objection to redirecting it for now, but at some point it could be turned into an article.- MrX 🖋 22:19, 29 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
