  • Keep - @GiantSnowman: There are sources sthat how he is notable in Northern Mariana Islands among many other sources, like [1], [2], [3], and [4] among many other sources. In addition, he is a young international capped player with an ongoing career. I look at the other sports WikiProjects and they don't nearly have an article deleted per day, let alone 30. By the time I wrote this another 30 are probably deleted. Article needs improvement, not deletion. Thanks, Das osmnezz (talk) 02:13, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
All the Saipan Tribune articles count as one source, and the mvariety page is obviously a press release from Seton Hall so is not independent. The article needs SIGCOV in multiple independent secondary RS, which it lacks currently. JoelleJay (talk) 04:04, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And yet WP:SPORTCRIT is met with one reference, let alone 3 over a 2-year period in a national newspaper. The first in particular is very in-depth. Nfitz (talk) 23:44, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Saipan Tribune is not a "national newspaper" in any sense that would indicate notability beyond that of every online paper serving a community <60k. As I said before, the three refs count as one source since they represent commentary by one newspaper (in fact, by just one reporter from one newspaper). JoelleJay (talk) 02:01, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And yet WP:NSPORT is met. Nfitz (talk) 15:22, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
...Which doesn't mean NSPORT is met, since that requires multiple sources. He does not meet our notability standards, he meets the minimal requirements for an athlete bio to be in mainspace when unchallenged and is afforded somewhat more presumption that further coverage exists. However, when others have looked and not been able to locate more independent SIGCOV, that presumption is rebutted. JoelleJay (talk) 20:58, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep NSport is met - this reference is very good. Nfitz (talk) 23:44, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Which part of NSPORT? Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 23:49, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    WP:SPORTCRIT, as I already mentioned. Nfitz (talk) 23:56, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Meeting this requirement alone does not indicate notability, but it does indicate that there are likely sufficient sources to merit a stand-alone article. This doesn't absolve the subject from actually meeting GNG, it's literally just the bare minimum for all athlete articles. One piece of purely local non-trivial coverage of his collegiate career does not cut it. JoelleJay (talk) 01:54, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete there is not enough significant coverage of this person to meet the GNG --Guerillero Parlez Moi 12:01, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: Fails WP:SPORTCRIT A person is presumed to be notable if they have been the subject of significant coverage, that is, multiple published non-trivial secondary sources which are reliable. The Blue Ayuyus’ Relucio gets recognition has some significant coverage, but a lot of interviewing and lacks a disinterested tone. A WP:BLP has to be more than a pseudo biography or just mainly statistics. -- Otr500 (talk) 12:33, 16 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have found this article from the LA times back in 1978, which is a significant coverage of the product(s), though I don't know what exactly it is (reads like a review of sorts). • Keep, it appears to be a real magazine about wooden boats with some coverage, like in the Bangor local news in Maine, and it's been around for a while. The article is a stub but appears to meet notability. Andre🚐 05:08, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources.

The book notes: "In 1974, into this fertile environment, former boatbuilder Jon Wilson launched what was to become the voice of the movement: WoodenBoat magazine. Aimed at the amateur and professional boatbuilder, it was packed to the gills with practical and historical articles about (mostly) indigenous American craft. Within a year the magazine had attracted 8,000 subscribers, and by the end of its third year it employed a staff of twelve and its circulation and had risen to 25,000. By 1981 it was secure enough to move to grandiose new offices in Brooklin on a 60-acre estate overlooking Eggemoggin Reach, on the east side of Penobscot Bay. There, with the participation of eminent figures such as yacht designer Joel White and authors Maynard Bray and Peter Spectre, the magazine continued to expand and set up its own programme of boatbuilding and sailing courses. By the mid-1980s, its circulation was over 100,000, where it has remained ever since. Clearly, as Wilson wrote in his very first editorial, it was a magazine 'whose time has come'."

    2. Pillsbury, Fred (1982-03-09). "His magazine sells, knock on wood: A man turns his love for wooden boats into successful publication". The Boston Globe. p. 37. ProQuest 1466612179.

The article notes: "Brooklin, Maine — WoodenBoat, "the magazine for wooden boat owners, builders and designers," must have the most spectacular view of any publication in New England. Its headquarters, in a brick, 35-room house on 60 acres of woods and open space here, look south over Eggemoggin Reach — shimmering salt water, spruce-covered islands, distant blue hills, gulls, white sails in the summer. Several of the 24 staff members face their desks away from the windows so they can do their work. The rest just enjoy it. WoodenBoat has other attributes, such as a 70,000 combined circulation (which doubled in the last three years), $1 million in annual sales, and Jonathan Wilson. A 36-year-old college dropout and ex-boatbuilder from Rhode Island, Wilson started the magazine in 1974 with a budget of $14,500 — $11,000 from the sale of his Alden ketch, $3500 borrowed."

Retrieved 2022-08-15 – via Google Books.

The book provides one page of coverage about the subject. The book notes: "WoodenBoat is now an online CoP of owners, admirers, builders, and designers of wooden boats (woodenboat.com). Founded in September 1974 by Wilson WoodenBoat, WoodenBoat was born as an American magazine for boat amateurs and, then, it is become an important virtual place for people who share interest and passion for old and new wooden boats. Today, WoodenBoat reaches readers and community members by various ways such as publications, website, forum and blog, thematic events, and photo and video gallery."

    4. Genter, Ethan (2022-01-14). "New owners want to grow a Maine magazine for wooden boat enthusiasts". Bangor Daily News. Archived from the original on 2022-08-15. Retrieved 2022-08-15.

The article notes: "When Jon Wilson started WoodenBoat magazine in 1974 in an off-grid cabin in Brooksville, it filled a niche in the world of wooden boats as a good professional trade journal. The company has since become a mainstay in the wooden boat community with about 60,000 readers. ... Matt Murphy, the editor of WoodenBoat magazine, and Andrew Breece, the publisher of the company’s magazine division, purchased the company on New Year’s Day and plan to keep filling the pages with stories on the emerging technologies and traditional methods of boat building — while also expanding the company’s digital presence."

There is sufficient coverage in reliable sources to allow WoodenBoat to pass Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)#Primary criteria, which requires "significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject".

There's some stuff on Goodreads and some blog posts, but not much else. Suggesting redirect to Ian Irvine, the author of the series. Ovinus (talk) 20:29, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, rename to Three Worlds (Ian Irvine). This is not a book, so no wonder it is not "reviewed". But the term may be found on book covers, not only on fansites and blogs. This is a descriptive term used by the author themselves for the book cycle. I suggest renaming because there are several other series referred to as "Three Worlds books", "Three Worlds series", etc. The author themselves uses the latter two, meaning that "Cycle" is not part of the "proper name". Loew Galitz (talk) 21:52, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Are there reviews of any of the individual books, though? I could not find anything reliable for "view from the mirror", nor "a shadow on the glass", "the tower on the rift". Ovinus (talk) 21:57, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • That's not the point. And same here, I am pondering on the idea to AfD all articles about Irving's books, because all of them seem to be in-universe fancruft. But I am lazy, and pages are harmless, so I leave the job to "hardcore deletionists" Loew Galitz (talk) 22:22, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • P.S. And I think that Three Worlds (Ian Irvine) may be a good "merge/redirect" target for reliable info about all its novels. Loew Galitz (talk) 23:06, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
        • Hm, I don't consider myself hardcore... :P Anyway, I agree that that's a conceivable target, but where is the reliable info? I really can't find anything besides self-published sources. The most likely redirect target is Ian Irvine, which I've added to the nom statement. Ovinus (talk) 01:04, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Redirect to Ian Irvine. Non-notable book series; pretty much unreferenced and no references provided in disucssion here so far. Yes, it exists, that doesn't meen we need a catalogue/fancruft entry about it. WP:NOTCATALOGUE, etc. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 09:19, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect per Piotrus. Coverage of these books in reliable sources appears to be either vanishingly insubstantial or entirely nonexistent. Even if there were reviews of the individual books, they wouldn't confer notability on the series as a whole. But no harm pointing readers to the author's article, which can justifiably at least tell them the names of the books in the series and when they were published. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 16:51, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect/Merge to WP:PRESERVE. There aren't sources to confer notability on this as a separate article but it does tie together several notable books written by Ian Irvine. Archrogue (talk) 19:47, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Fails WP:NCORP as it has not received significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary independent sources. The company has only received coverage in reliable independent sources as a result of an event in 2009 (see the three refs currently in the article) and the coverage about the company itself is hardly significant ([10] and [11] are passing mentions, and [12] only contains a few sentences with some basic background info on the company). non-notable band that hasn't released anything -- FMSky (talk) 10:34, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

so if someone forms a band and it has at least 2 musicians with a wikipedia article in it, that band is automatically notable and must be kept, even if that band never released anything? --FMSky (talk) 13:30, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reply - WP:NBAND, "or merge". --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:40, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is what it says: "Is an ensemble that contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a reasonably prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles." The criteria says it "may be notable" if it meets this, so we still need to decide if this is enough. Zeddedm (talk) 20:55, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - The above recommendation to keep/merge is the type of bureaucratic thinking that saddles Wikipedia with pointless articles that say nothing beyond how something exists, and dubiously precious edit histories of the same. WP:NBAND starts with the phrase "may be notable" if one of the criteria is satisfied. Well this band may be notable because it has certain musicians in it, until you do a little research and find that they achieved practically nothing beyond forming one day and telling a few media outlets that they existed. They created one single self-released video and then nothing else happened. The band's brief existence can be mentioned at each member's article. • Comment - I already voted above. The new sources are a triumph of quantity over quality and accomplish nothing. They all say the exact same thing, and merely repeat the two sources that were there before the AfD. Read all the sources and you will learn ten times that the band announced its formation in December 2017 and self-released a video for the song "Glass Houses". Those sources are all from the same two-week period, repeat the same basic information, and are probably all retreads of the same promotional announcement. Of interest: source #9 is an outlier because it says that an album was planned for 2018, which never happened, and neither did anything else for this band. So they managed to send their promo announcement to ten different magazines on their way to accomplishing nothing. Good for them. They still don't qualify for an article here. ---DOOMSDAYER520 (TALK|CONTRIBS) 14:26, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is why I said Weak Keep. I am not too thrilled about it. But whether all news is the same all not, as long as they are not exactly copied word-by-word, then they are considered new sources and count towards notability, because it shows that different publications have coverage on them. The publications have found them to be news worthy to write about them. Zeddedm (talk) 17:17, 6 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

One Rail Australia east coast divestiture business[edit]

One Rail Australia east coast divestiture business (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This article was initially proposed for discussion on the Talk page for its previous name, One Rail Australia (East Coast). Some elements of the article were misleading so the article was subsequently edited to more accurately describe the subject pending a decision on deletion.

Background (see One Rail Australia article for details):

  • Rail operator Aurizon purchased the assets of One Rail Australia on 29 July 2022.
  • The company regulator mandated a condition of its approval of the sale: One Rail Australia's assets related to its bulk haulage on Australia's east coast were to be divested by Aurizon.
  • Research has not revealed any incorporated business undertaking the divestiture task; it could well be a business unit with a chinese wall shielding against the rest of Aurizon's management, or another arrangement not publicly available.
  • The divestiture business (the term used by the company regulator) will cease once One Rail Australia's east coast assets are disposed of by way of sale or demerger to Aurison shareholders.
  • The One Rail Australia article contains all the information in the article proposed for deletion.

The main reasons for proposing the article's deletion are that the business is ephemeral and not notable in its own right, and that all information in the article is already in the parent company's article.

Accordingly, I propose deletion. Simon – SCHolar44 🇦🇺 💬 at 12:24, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Support - "One Rail Australia (East Coast)" appears to be a fabrication. Evidence indicates 1Rail continues to exist (now under Aurizon ownership), just without the SA/NT operations which were transferred directly to Aurizon. – Nick Mitchell 98 talk 14:37, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
?Merge - The reason I created the One Rail Australia (East Coast) page was that I thought it best that the existing One Rail Australia page covered the period between 1997 (when ASR was formed and bought the remnants of AN) & 29 July 2022 (the day Aurizon acquired ORA). This page was meant to be a stop-gap page for the east coast business (which is still trading as ORA) until it is sold, at which point it would be either re-named or merged to a different page.
We could merge/keep the east coast business in the One Rail Australia page under its own heading for the time being, adding a note that this section would be transferred/removed once the Divestiture Business has been sold/de-merged. Thoughts? MatthewH01 (talk) 08:38, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - This source from the article for example, talks a bit about the TV shows she has acted in. Lack of enough sources in the article may be resolved, but the subject has definitely worked in quite a lot of notable TV show hence doesn't warrant deletion. Another source I found about her role in Shararat (TV series) ([18]). - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:48, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    Hi Fylindfotberserk Sir
    • The Times of India wrote "The actress, who has been part of TV shows like Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Shararat, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii and Baat Hamari Pakki Hai has been away from the small screen since her last show, 26/11 went off-air in 2013."
    • I have checked now this actress is not in lead role but in small role in this serial. ( Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Shararat (TV series), Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai).
    • The page creator left a message on the talk page ( 8 January 2020[19]). It appears that no new source has been added to this page in the past two years and six months since this message.
I am new user sir I have only four months experience. It is a good thing if this page survives with consensus. I did not find any reliable source in this page so I brought this page Afd. Sorry sir PravinGanechari (talk) 13:07, 25 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone with Gale access describe the newspaper articles that cover her? JoelleJay (talk) 02:30, 31 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@JoelleJay:
Ref 5: Passing mention (Centenary State High's Matalena Daniells, a former Samoa Women's National Football Team captain, made it to the finals after inspiring students to excel and participate in sport.)
Ref 6: Passing mention (However we have also been very fortunate to have an influx of young and energetic players come into the team, Matalena Daniells..)
Ref 7: Award announcement for a "Pierre De Coubertin Award"
Ref 14: Brief interview, almost all verbal quotes from subject
Ref 15: Announcement about being named in the Samoan team for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Women's Nations Cup, with some brief interview quotes
Ref 17: Like ref 14
Ref 19: Report on her captaincy during the Pacific Games (MATALENA Daniells, the Moreton Bay United Jets defender, has led Samoa to its first medal in the Pacific Games.) More than a passing mention and mentions her brother, but a very short article.
Very few actually describe her in any detail, although I tend to consider that if a media outlet wants to interview someone, there has to be some noteworthy reason to do so. Ref 5 and 6 are definitely not sigcov. Bungle (talkcontribs) 18:53, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! It doesn't look like there's sufficient independent coverage to support an article. I don't think being interviewed is a great indicator of potential notability, either, especially when it's in local press. And if even local sources aren't discussing her in detail, I think that's decent evidence she is not notable. JoelleJay (talk) 21:15, 1 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Redundant content to eating disorder - as far as I can tell, the only thing that this article has which eating disorder does not, is DSM-5 copyright violations for the diagnostic criteria. The AN "diagnostic history" section has some possibly interesting statistics, although the sources are of questionable reliability (two are deadlinks, one is from CNN) and ultimately the epidemiology at Anorexia nervosa#Epidemiology and Eating disorder#Anorexia seem to be more detailed. Contrary to the article's title, there does not seem to be any substantive discussion of the development of eating disorders except for claims in the lead that it is related with childhood development (this is covered in a few sections at eating disorder). This is, yes, a rail junction, but sorting it took some effort. It was a wye on the Chicago, Attica and Southern Railroad, with the main line running due north-south and a branch heading off to the northwest. If you go to GMaps, you can still see one branch of the wye as a wide arc in the field just southwest of the GNIS coordinates, but as one might imagine there's no other trace of anything railroad-related from a line that was abandoned in 1946. The topos and aerials don't go back anything like far enough, soe they aren't much help. I was, however, able to find two references (besides name drops of it as a station) which together show matters clearly. First, in this newsletter, at the bottom of page 5, there is a photo of the station and its surrounding buildings. Along with that, I found this map which shows the same three buildings, and nothing else at the junction. So it's just a rail spot of no particular note, and not a settlement. I don't think a few modelling gigs raise the profile comparable to other notable former Survivor contestants. On the other hand, it could be notable simply due to her probably being selected to have LGBT+ representation on the show, but if that were the case, there would likely be more discussion about it in independent media, which I was unable to find.

How many more are needed? There's only a caution against local media in the #C7 guidelines. The ones that are already there aren't local media - they're large, notable publications. The person who nominated the page for deletion never explained why there was a problem as we've already covered that she meets academic notability, based on WP:PROF, in addition to having been on TV. Sources mentioned are only about his death, no GNG. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 05:20, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note: This discussion has been included in the deletion sorting lists for the following topics: People, Sportspeople, and Philippines. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 05:20, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Articles are obituaries. They're not about his death, which would fail WP:ONEEVENT, they're occasioned by his death. It's not uncommon for someone to only meet GNG after they die because of obituaries.--Jahaza (talk) 05:38, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jahaza: Okay, but there are NO sources that mentions about his life and career execept about his death. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 06:06, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    That's not quite true see here[24] and, e.g. here[25].--Jahaza (talk) 06:25, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jahaza: the first source you mention still mentions about his death, the second I dont know (needed experts about this). Please find other sources that mentions about his LIFE and CAREER, if theres none, there is a chance that it may be redirected or deleted. Please research properly. SeanJ 2007 (talk) 06:40, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can also research! The "first source" is an entire page of stories in which he is tagged. Most of them are not about his death. There's nothing in policy as far as I know that says that obituaries can't be the main sources for an article, so long as the person is not notable merely for how they died.--Jahaza (talk) 06:49, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - per Jahaza. If you filter out recent results on Google, you can see Sison appearing frequently in news sources prior to his death, but most of the sources weren't just particularly good/reliable for encyclopedic inclusion. The obituaries are providing specifically citeable sources, but it's clear they are about a career and ONEEVENT does not apply. matt91486 (talk) 11:10, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep since sources verified that he has several notable roles (as host) on various TV and radio programs. With that in mind, articles regarding the recently deceased are perfectly valid sources, in fact they're important for notable people in the 2000s and earlier whose potential references might have been only available offline. --Lenticel (talk) 22:45, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Easy keep. Another nom where WP:BEFORE was not done, and one of the policies like WP:GNG was misrepresented. Obits are perfectly valid sources and are often used as such in the "Recent deaths" section of WP:ITN. Please, stop making up bogus policies. Howard the Duck (talk) 23:15, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Jahaza. This page only just focused on WP:BASIC (where that meets the criteria) which is under WP:NBIO. CruzRamiss2002 (talk) 11:55, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Kept in 2018 under the argument that although schools are no longer considered inherently notable, we should still consider them notable in case they turn out to be notable. I will be frank in saying that is the silliest argument I have ever seen succeed at AfD.

I did a thorough BEFORE check using basic Google resources, Newspapers.com, and the Wikipedia Library, and I was not able to find sufficient SIGCOV to justify keeping the article. Please be careful when you search not to conflate this school with other schools in California which have similar names, such as the Mountain View Academy in Mountain View, California, which is still operational. ♠PMC(talk) 05:03, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Speedy delete as it appears to be a hoax article created by a banned sockpuppet account whose only editing in mainspace was to create this article (with the rest of its edits focused on its own Talk page and trolling others regarding blocking policies, etc.). Like the nominator and previous commenter, I wasn't able to find coverage that wasn't the prep school in Mountain View or the charter school in Colorado Springs. It's to the point that I'm not even sure if the few facts contained within the article are verifiable or true. There is only one source cited in the article, a link to a video of a San Francisco Board of Supervisors meeting, which is listed as two separate footnotes...possibly to make it look like there might be two different sources? What is "p. 18" in the context of that video? I have tried to find it but it makes no sense; there is no document or slide deck contained within the video, and item no. 18 on the meeting agenda (on "Workforce Development") is completely irrelevant. At any rate, given the article's creation by a banned sock; lack of any reliable sourcing whatsoever; no additional coverage found through two AfD discussions; and the fact that it is polluting the Google search results for the actual Mountain View Academy in nearby Mountain View, I would prioritize this for deletion ASAP. I can't access any full article without physically going to a library, but a cursory search in the Swedish Royal Library archive which shows fragments of articles reveal a number of articles very likely constituting significant coverage – including one fragment stating "[...] kunde Patrik Bengtsson för första gången i sitt 21-åriga liv gotta sig åt helsidesrubriker i alla de stora tidningarna" (rough translation: "[...] Patrik Bengtsson could for the first time in his 21-year-old life indulge in full-page headlines in all the major newspapers"). • Delete per WP:V and WP:GEOLAND. There are no reliable sources to verify the subject's existence - the GNIS is not a reliable source for these purposes. The coordinates given point to part of a wildlife refuge next to the Mississippi river on the Illinois/Missouri border with no settlement in sight. Even if it does exist (or did exist), GEOLAND only gives near-automatic notability to legally recognised populated places and we have no evidence this is legally recognised. Hut 8.5 17:38, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Hut 8.5: While the GNIS claim of it being a populated place is, indeed, unreliable (likely a data entry glitch) and consensus agrees with this, GNIS is definitely a reliable source for the fact that an island was surveyed to exist at this location. jp×g 12:18, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, but we would need much more substantial coverage of it for it to be notable as an island than as a populated place, and we're struggling to find anything at all. Hut 8.5 17:00, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, although I must say that previously made arguments are rather bad. GNIS is, whatever. There should be other sources, yes -- and an attempt should be made to find them. I hate to say the same thing over and over, but there have been tons of geostub AfDs where "no sources" turned out to be "lots of sources" when someone gave it a detailed look. So I will do that here... Here we see a Birch Island in St. Ignace, here we see one in Wisconsin, Wisconsin again, Massachusetts, Lake Huron again. This one actually talks about a Birch's Island in the Mississippi between Illinois and Missouri, so it seems promising, but the map inset clearly shows some different place (Kaskaskia) quite a few miles south. I don't see any SIGCOV for this. Stick a fork in it. jp×g 12:16, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, JPxG, that's basically what I found when I prodded last year. I didn't explain my entire process in this nomination but when I find an apparent GNIS error, I do search for sources and check historical topos to ensure that it isn't likely to meet GNG or other notability criteria as a geographic feature. –dlthewave 16:26, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Given that Central Provinces and Berar, one of his teams, played less than 20 senior matches in a very short timeframe, I'm happy to redirect to List of Madhya Pradesh cricketers here, with a note added perhaps. It's not ideal, as RF22 says, but is a better option than outright deleting. There is years of precedent for redirecting cricketers to lists going back to 2018. Arguments citing NCRICKET are generally considered to not be of value at AfD these days so we have to, I'm afraid, discount this argument here. It comes down to an ATD existing. An alternative redirect target would be List of people from Nagpur if there is no consensus that redirecting to the MP list is appropriate. Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:07, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, no redirect - I'm not finding any significant coverage, and I'm not impressed by the suggested redirect targets. • Delete Despite having a reasonable career, I'm not sure his statistics in this case would have been able to bring enough GNG passing coverage to warrant a weak keep in this situation. There is likely coverage offline and/or in non-English language sources, but I'm still not sure it will be enough. There's no suitable redirect here as he played for a few sides. There is though a film actor/director of the same name who looks around the same age. I'd be interested to know if they're the same person as there seems to be reasonable coverage of him. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:21, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • A lot of Indian film articles link to this one fwiw - although I suspect that's more to do with inappropriate addition of red links to everything. I've asked over at the Indian film project is anyone can find out if this is the same chap or not. If it is, he's clearly notable. But I'm not convinced. Based on number of games, this would then be a redirect to List of Vidarbha cricketers - 16 games for them. A note would need adding, but this has been the long standing position with cricketer articles. Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:37, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep/Redirect to List of Madhya Pradesh cricketers It's my belief that somebody playing this number of fixtures, at the time he played them, will have GNG passing somewhere in either offline or non-English language sources. However, in a simple internet search I've only been able to find passing mentions, so therefore have gone weak keep. There is a suitable redirect here though, per WP:ATD, which can be used if it's a preferred option if nothing significant crops up. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:17, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • This is probably going to need to be a redirect - we're going to lose an awful lot of articles on brown people at this rate btw, perhaps one for the diversity people at the WMF to consider. The List of MP cricketers is an obvious redirect target and there is a long standing consensus going back to at least 2018 that suggests we redirect when we really can't find sources about cricketers. The result was delete. Rugbyfan22's argument is actually one for deletion, given that they say that they have only found passing mentions. I've gone weak keep as in a simple online search, I've only been able to find passing mentions, but I believe with his record there will be coverage somewhere. There's no suitable redirect here given he's played for a number of different sides. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:14, 8 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That may be your belief, but the presumption of notability for first-class cricketers (along with all participation-based criteria) was rejected by community consensus earlier this year because it turned out not to be a good predictor of significant coverage. To comply with the guideline, you'll need to provide SIGCOV sources to support your Keep !vote. –dlthewave 02:01, 11 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mankading a batsman (with Mankad in the opposing team, although not batting at the time...) brings with it a likelihood of coverage somewhere. Playing against the touring England side also does, as does a Wisden bio. This is either a very weak keep or a redirect to either List of Uttar Pradesh cricketers (26 of his 37 first-class matches were for UP; the next highest is 7 matches) or, possibly, List of Mankading incidents in cricket. Per long-established precedent in the case of cricketer articles when an ATD exists. Blue Square Thing (talk) 20:48, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
How do we know he was involved in a Mankad? StAnselm (talk) 21:10, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I followed the "what links here" to a list of mankad incidents - the scorecard then checks out. I presume it would have received some press coverage - they invariably do. Blue Square Thing (talk) 23:42, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep extended career at top-flight domestic level and some top-flight coaching also, and per the offline arguments above Bumbubookworm (talk) 21:00, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Question. I hear the argument about "a likelihood of coverage somewhere." But WP:SPORTBASIC explicitly mandates: "Sports biographies must include at least one reference to a source providing significant coverage of the subject, excluding database sources." Do we have at least one such example of SIGCOV? Cbl62 (talk) 13:36, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    We don't Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 16:33, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Absent an actual showing of even a single example of SIGCOV, SPORTBASIC (quoted above) quite clearly mandates that we delete. Also, the arguments that we should assume that coverage exists runs contrary to WP:NCRIC which states that, even in the case of players at the highest domestic level, significant coverage "should not be assumed to exist." Cbl62 (talk) 04:21, 13 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Fails GNG and NSPORTS, specifically SPORTBASIC #5 which requires SIGCOV sourcing to be present in the article. The mere likelihood of sources is insufficient to establish notability. –dlthewave 04:39, 14 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Lacks significant coverage by independent sources. Google only returns 5 pages of results, a portion of which is false positives, and the rest is trivial or connected (their social media, alumni mag mentions, etc.). • Delete His record isn't very impressive at the highest level and he clearly fails to meet WP:NMMA. More importantly, I don't see that WP:GNG is met. There are a lot of references given, but they tend to be database entries, fight announcements, and reporting of fight results. That's the stuff that every pro MMA fighter gets and isn't really anything that shows notability (or can be considered significant independent coverage).
