January[edit]

User:Celestina007[edit]

Hello and greetings to you all my colleagues & a happy new year, I’m requesting this in order to contribute and serve/give back to the community that has given me a sense of belonging & purpose for the last 3 years. I believe I can be of great help in this regard because I am conversant with imperative notability guidelines such as WP:GNG, WP:BASIC, & WP:ANYBIO. I also know and have learnt the imperative nature of WP:RS I know what is an encyclopedic material and what is not, I work tirelessly at the New Pages Feed & have successfully made use of CSD tags & have successfully nominated non encyclopedic materials for deletion on numerous occasions of which at least 80% of them end up deleted/removed. I know about copy-vios and attack pages & how they must be treated with immediate effect. I know how to deal with non encyclopedic vanity pages and promotional advert articles. I am conversant with WP:5P. I know how to deal with editors who have openly admitted that they have received financial reward for edit(s), I know to scrutinize such pages meticulously. I understand WP:NPOV and also the importance of WP:V and its salient nature. I also understand specific policies for certain type of articles, for actors; WP:NACTOR, for singers WP:SINGER for academics; WP:NACADEMIC and so many others. My major fixation would be on BLP’s & organization related articles. I have extensive knowledge in both fields and understand how articles about them can be blatantly violated or used for blatant promotion. Furthermore I have created 40+ BLP’s with none deleted hence my work so far has been satisfactory. I believe I can do positive tireless good work with the tool set and significantly contribute to the community. I am more than happy to answer any questions or tests to prove my all knowledge claims I have made above & if need be I’m ready to answer any queries you may have for me.  On hold - as you're now enrolled in my NPP School I will be adding you to the list when we reach that point in our work together and can start AfC together. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 01:32, 11 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reason:After submitting an AfC I saw how long the queue was and wondered if I could help out. I have started a fair few articles that have grown nicely and participated in notability debates. I am interested to see if I am able to do this work on my smart phone ... I usually only edit on a computer but this may be something I can do well at odd times in between things by phone. User:GordiasAchos[edit]

Hello! I was an active participant between 2013 and 2015 and was actually awarded Bronze Wiki Award during an elimination drive. I've read the reviewing instructions again (which I'm already familiar with), my account is well over 90 days old and I have more than 500 edits. You can check my previous contributions and my talk page archive to assess if I meet the last three criteria which are about understanding notability, deletion policy and responding to questions about the reviews appropriately : Special:Contributions/GordiasAchos and User talk:GordiasAchos/Archive 1. Thanks! GordiasAchos (talk) 11:52, 17 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. I intentionally let this sit for the better part of a week; while I do appreciate long-term users coming back to the project, it does not give me a whole lot of confidence that there have been zero edits since this post, and only two recent edits before it. Primefac (talk) 20:43, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I was waiting for your response so that I could start working on AfC once again. Funny thing is I was checking your edits in the meantime, trying to understand when you usually return to requests. Although I don't agree with your reasoning -I don't think simply waiting to resume working on a project where one left off is a valid reason to reject an application-, I still appreciate you taking the time to review. Thank you! GordiasAchos (talk) 22:25, 22 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Forgive me if it seems harsh, but we've had a string of hacked/zombie accounts in the last year or so that have ended up blocked for causing mayhem upon their "return." I am in no way saying you have fallen victim to that, but I just found it suspicious. If you really do want to get back to reviewing submitted drafts then I suppose it's not an issue but in all honesty I expected to decline the request and then never hear from you again. I have been working on the Wikis since 2012, I am a new page reviewer and a passionate editor on topics on and about Africa. I am very sure that I can be of help in reviewing some of the backlogged articles that exist on the platform. Hi, I would like the AfC reviewer right to help work at the backlog. I have read all the relevant policies and have participated at a couple AfD discussions. I am always open to any criticism/feedback, and am willing to answer any questions anyone may have. I have had one draft declined, but since then I have re-read policy and now I believe I have a pretty good understanding. Thanks for considering this! Yours, Puddleglum 2.0 19:20, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac:: Hi! I was just wondering if there was any particular reason you were skipping over my request? It seems that you've taken care of all the other requests but not mine. I would like to help review Articles for Creation. I have familiarized myself with the AfC review criteria. I currently having Pending and Rollback rights, which I've exercised without issue. I believe I have a good sense for what constitutes an appropriate Wikipedia article as I've created 29 articles [4] with only one being deleted (the first article I created, seven years ago) and improved Suquamish Museum to GA status (though subsequent edits now probably merit it for delisting). For full disclosure, I have an IBAN with an editor who was a very active member of this project, however, they are in the seventh month of an indefinite block with no pending requests for block review. Were they to be unblocked and resume activity, I would terminate my involvement in AfC. DocumentError (talk) 20:14, 10 February 2020 (UTC) DocumentError (talk) 20:14, 10 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm leaning towards "not done" on this request - only 2 for 3 in recent AFDs, and 94% of edits are semi-automated. There's just not much in the way of demonstrating knowledge of (basically) "what makes a good article". Like with FriendlyCaribou I'm not overly convinced that you meet the reviewing criteria; one (failed) AfD and one (failed) MfD. I will grant the creation of 3 pages but the GA reviews were never finished and one page you worked on improving was delisted (with almost no changes from outside editors). I'm leaning heavily towards declining, but will mull it over. Primefac (talk) 03:34, 23 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Hintswen[edit]

I mainly spend time on Wikipedia fighting vandalism and sometimes during the course of fighting vandalism I run into users who have created a draft page which is not vandalism and not suitable for CSD/AfD and they have submitted it to AfC. I would like to be able to go in and reject these drafts when I find them rather than wasting the time of other reviewers on these pages such as the recently created page Draft:Terioki which would fail notability which was brought to my attention as they recently vndalized another article twice.  Not done. Copyvios are one of the main things that AFC reviewers need to pay attention to, and the fact that you've had an article deleted for that reason is a major negative. That, and multiple notes regarding other content issues makes me concerned that you would miss important details. There is no question that you are getting to be a prolific article creator, but it's in a rather specific field and to me demonstrates more of a familiarity with one group rather than a general knowledge of our criteria. Primefac (talk) 18:18, 1 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When I created the original article I got all my information from another article on Wikipedia. So since it was on Wikipedia I decided not check to see if it was copyrighted. Also keep in mind that when I created it the second time. There was no copyright violation and is now well established article. So I hope you do reconsider Primefac and if not I understand.  Not done for now. I appreciate the interest, but there does not appear to be the level of involvement in the areas we are looking for (e.g. you only have one successful CSD and no successful AFDs, plus a large number of now-deleted drafts). If you still wish to help out at AFC, please consider becoming more involved in the administrative and/or content creation sides of Wikipedia to demonstrate that you understand the notability and other inclusion requirements for pages.  Probation, which will be evaluated in 3-6 months. Being on probation only means that you can be removed from the list for any reason without prior discussion. Normally this would be a straight "no" based on a not-great AFD record and a few concerns about CSD on your talk page, but your deleted edits do show a rather impressive number of (what appear to be) correctly deleted drafts. I'm willing to extend a little faith and see how well you do. Primefac (talk) 21:22, 8 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I have been a Wikipedia editor since 2011. I only got one article submission approved last 2013 and had like 2 declined submissions (out of ignorance of notability issues before) and one pending (re)submission. I have been rejected last December due to some silly edits and I understood now why they were silly. An active participant in Wikiproject Philippines particularly in the deletion discussions just recently. I try to vote for keeping the article as much as possible but will move for a deletion if I deem it not worthy here in Wikipedia. Been editing draft articles, mostly minor edits, and trying to groom them for approval. At least that's what I think I am doing. Willing to accept a no, probation, and definitely a yes vote. Meters, not sure what you mean; are you requesting WP:NPR access? AFCH can only be used to mark attack pages and copyvios, and it doesn't look like you've been doing either. Happy to re-add you if you're going to start reviewing drafts again, though. Primefac (talk) 14:56, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Probation, which will be evaluated in 3-6 months. Being on probation only means that you can be removed from the list for any reason without prior discussion. This is based mainly on the rather problematic AFD history. Primefac (talk) 18:55, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Primefac. What does "the rather problematic AFD history" mean? Feel free to respond on my talk page if that works better.   - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) (I'm a man—traditional male pronouns are fine.) 19:27, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If you include the overturned AFD for race and intelligence, you have a 0% accuracy rating at AFD. This would imply that you are not able to accurately determine the suitability of an article for inclusion on Wikipedia. That being said, you have a relatively large number of edits and a few articles to your name, so I figure we might as well see what happens. Primefac (talk) 19:36, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, thank you for explaining. Has that metric (correspondence between "votes" and ultimate AfD decision, calculated as a percentage) been evaluated with regard to its interrater reliability (since it's partly based on individual judgements of what constitutes a "good" or "bad" vote/decision percentage), criterion-related validity, and predictive validity? (There are other problems with the metric that undoubtedly reduce its reliability, which I can describe if you wish, but it would take up even more space.) I ask because using an unreliable, inaccurate metric adds extra work (for you), and likely leads to the rejection or "probation" (an unsavory term) of otherwise competent editors who are, after all, volunteering to help.   - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) (I'm a man—traditional male pronouns are fine.) 21:35, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
In a word, yes. The main metrics of whether someone understands the notability criteria are found in the AFD and CSD logs. If one does poorly at AFD, that implies that they do not understand the inclusion criteria. Primefac (talk) 00:16, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I hope you will consider that if your method has never been evaluated, then we do not know if various editors' subjective interpretations of a (potentially unreliable) frequency table are truly unbiased and accurate. In more formal terms, an assessment method can be evaluated to determine if it is reliable (e.g., consistent between judges or raters) and valid (does the assessment method truly measure what it purports to measure?). Accuracy and precision are closely related concepts, e.g., ISO 5725-1 (Accuracy—trueness and precision—of measurement methods and results). Of course, one might quickly dismiss my concerns as "overly technical" or "wonky", or assert that "we've been doing it this ways for years without anyone complaining", without keeping an open mind and considering that one's assumptions might not be accurate.   - Mark D Worthen PsyD (talk) (I'm a man—traditional male pronouns are fine.) 04:37, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I mostly have no idea what you just said. I stick by my metrics, and you're still on a probationary period for two months. Primefac (talk) 23:39, 13 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I don't mind being on probation, and I respect your decision. My concern is that (it seems) we do not have policies in place related to these topics. I'll try to determine how to suggest new policies to the "powers that be" and go from there. ¶ I conducted my first AfC review yesterday and I think it went well, at least in the sense that I was able to find all sorts of helpful guidance within WP:AFC and related help sections. I've learned that reliable sources are essential to an article on Wikipedia. I know that I should not use primary or passing sources, because they aren't reliable. I've learned this from two of my mistakes. My first one I didn't even know about WP:NOTNEWS, and the second one helped me learned what significant coverage is. 🌺Kori🌺 - (@) 16:08, 15 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Upon pondering over AFC for a while. I think now is a good time to start a request for AFCH. I tried to stop myself from conducting reviews, but being in the AFC community makes me want to start doing reviews (probably more declines) on a larger scale as part of my Wikipedia cleanup work. I have several drafts submitted to AFC, so I won't review them. Cheers, Eumat114 formerly The Lord of Math (Message) 09:25, 17 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Salvidrim![edit]

I've used AFCH for years as an admin before (although not super mega actively), never had issues with an AfC I've reviewed or article I created. For transparency: over two years ago I was desysopped & prevented from AfC reviewing for one event instance of colluding to approve a friend's AfC for which they had been paid; that sanction was successfully removed over a year ago. Now that we have AfC sorting I have an active interest in helping maintain Wikipedia:AfC sorting/Culture/Media/Video games and the AFCH script simply makes easier the reviewing work I could do regardless. I'm not sure if this should be under reactivations? Ben · Salvidrim!  07:12, 24 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm Delta, I had applied a while back but had been rejected immediately which was rightfully so, as I needed much more experience on the main space and needed to learn to avoid the plethora of mistakes I had made. Aside form that I had been unable to edit as much as I used to last year in the early months, due to the fact that I was a school student in my last year and thus had to dedicate all my time towards education, however, I just finished my last year at school and now have enough time in the day to help contribute to the Wikipedia. I've uploaded two articles so far and the latest one passing on the first go, as I learnt how notability should be proved, something I did not know before and is visible on my past drafts and failed submissions. I have gone through the guidelines and hope to be a part of this community thank you! Delta fiver (talk) (UTC) 07:58, 22 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I started out on Wikipedia about a decade and a half ago, and I have an edit count of maybe ~9,500. I have experience with nominating spammy articles for CSD / PROD / AfD: please see, for example, my successful AfD nomination of a for-profit career college. Here at AfC, I hope to be able to decline dross such as:

I'd like to help reduce the backlog. I probably won't be extremely prolific, but when I review, I can provide constructive feedback to help newer creators if something needs better sourcing or might be better off merging into an existing article. Beyond GNG, I also know to check to see if there are any WikiProject recommendations or more specific official criteria (e.g. WP:NBOOK, WP:PROF, WP:NFILM, etc.). – 2pou (talk) 17:27, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Team, I am in wikipedia from more the two year so i would like to request for AfC submissions Reviewer, and i can say you that i will not do the mis-use of my rights. Thanks!Blue Birds(talk) 12:19, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I directed this editor to WP:AFC in order that they use the project to create drafts. I did not direct them here in order that they became a reviewer. Today has seen a flurry of CSD nominations by them that had to be reverted. They performed that reversion. They failed to apologise to the editors who's articles they attacked in their deletion spree.
They have created two articles today already, one a fully fledged copyvio, and the other that I draftified as imperfectly referenced. The text in that is a 100% copy of a UK government document, which is allowed, but pointless
Today's editing seems to have been targeted at 500 edits in order to achieve an editing right.
Their Wikipedia career spans the duration they stae, almost all of it as a period of inactivity until this month
I recommend declining the request pending sight of a track record of substantial editing Fiddle Faddle 12:28, 27 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac:, A user was removing major sourced content from BLP contents saying unreliable. I reverted his/her edits. Therefore, s/he reported me to ANI blaming disruptive editor, which wasn't discussed further. When I was new, I didn't understand copyvio, but know I use copyvio detector. I still have justifications that some articles on Wikipedia include copyvio, but that's not removed. I may assure you that all that happened was in past and was not good. Tears. I think that I am relatively comfortable at editing Wikipedia and I know the foundation of a quality article; for example, I created Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Wrecking Ball and got it up to GA status. Drafts seem like a fun way to interact with others and teach the foundations of editing.

Plus, I can't stand backlogs. They make me feel guilty. Scrooge200 (talk) 23:31, 30 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. It looks like you've only just returned, and with the exception of a few dozen edits in 2018 your last major activity was in 2016; policies have changed a bit since then, and I'm concerned that you might not be as current on notability policies as desired. I've made over 1,000 edits to Wikipedia, have been enjoying the content here for many years, and I'm looking to challenge myself with more opportunities to get involved, be evaluated by peers, learn and grow, so that I bring more value to this great project. I would like to help reduce the backlog of AFC's. I edit on articles of many topics, but most often on Oklahoma history so I think I can bring that expertise to the table. I also have the experience of creating articles that didn't pass deletion review but also many that made the cut, often with improvements made as a result of the review process. I think these experiences will help me in working with folks who create draft articles in a kind but also fair manner. Jmbranum (talk) 22:50, 7 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting afc helper script rights

I have been a Wikipedia editor for about 10 years. I have an undergraduate degree in History. As part of my undergraduate college years as well as my many years on Wikipedia I know what sources to look for and what is not acceptable. I know what a terrible Wikipedia draft article looks like compared to a good draft article. As a Wikipedia editor and creator I would have someone else review my articles in order to avoid any conflicts of interests on my part. Due to the large amount of draft articles I can assist in bringing that number down. Excel23 (talk) 15:29, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to have to think on this one. Plenty of articles created (24), but well more than that many drafts abandoned or declined (33 abandoned, at least 4 declined multiple times). No experience at AFD (or as near as I can tell, CSD either) and in total only 10 WP/WT-space edits. I guess I just need some sort of indication that this will actually be done. I would like access to the AfC helper script as I would also like to participate in Articles for Creation in addition to my work as a new page reviewer.  Probation, which will be evaluated in 3-6 months. Being on probation only means that you can be removed from the list for any reason without prior discussion. Primefac (talk) 20:43, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there! I figured I could try and help reduce the backlog by getting rid of obvious spam and promotional material. I have read through the guidelines, and I am very familiar with the deletion guidelines and with CSD tagging. ProClasher97 ~ Have A Question? 06:32, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I've moved several tropical cyclone drafts to mainspace (including Effects of Hurricane Harvey in Texas today) and would like to decrease the number of poor IP/COI users who have been waiting for weeks to get their drafts reviewed. As for my understanding of notability, see all the messages that Nioni1234 has sent me regarding article creation. 🐔 Chicdat  Bawk to me! 13:20, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! I'm active on the Wiki since June this year with over 800 contributions. I have participated in about 50+ AfD discussions and would like to also join AfC. ~Styyx Talk? ^-^ 18:02, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hola. I'm a new page patroller and where I've sent articles back to draft, would like the option of reviewing these once they've been worked on. When I'm feeling braver, I might even try and help with reviews! :) Best Alexandermcnabb (talk) 03:32, 9 December 2020 (UTC) Alexandermcnabb (talk) 03:32, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have been doing this on a temporary basis (as a probationary member) since October, and I would like to become an active member to make this indefinite. Cairo2k18(talk)(contribs) 02:03, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Pahunkat[edit]

I'm a regular CSD tagger for drafts (although I only realized two days ago that it's worthwhile creating a CSD log using twinkle, apologies!), and whilst patrolling drafts I have always encountered ones that have been submitted for review which are clear declines with no reliable independent sources and/or written as adverts, or ones which are clear accepts. Whilst I can do some things with speedy deletion tagging for blatant cases of the speedy deletion criteria, I'd like to help by accepting or declining submissions which I encounter. Thus I'm requesting rights in order to review these submissions and to help work on the backlog. I've read the criteria and feel I meet all aspects of it. If you wish to review my speedy deletion tagging before 2 days ago, hopefully you should still be able to see from my contributions given that twinkle always notifies the user who created the page when it is tagged for speedy deletion. Thanks, Pahunkat (talk) 22:02, 16 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. This is your first edit since 2016, and the notability guidelines have changed quite a bit since then. I'd like to see a full return to activity before requesting; maybe February? Primefac (talk) 16:32, 20 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have gained an interest in article review. Most recently, I have increased my role, specifically monitoring articles relating to US Politics. I have worked heavily on the Transition of Joe Biden which has faced a significant amount of disruptive editing and vandalism. I believe I would be a great addition to the team as I meet the minimum requirements. Cliffmore (talk) 17:45, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm a New Page Patroller and have greatly enjoyed contributing there. I'd like to help out at AFC, too. Apart from wanting to reduce the backlog, I'd also appreciate the opportunity to help new good faith users with their drafts. Thank you, Modussiccandi (talk) 21:53, 26 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

User:Eyebeller[edit]

Hello, I'm Eyebeller and I would like to become an AFC reviewer as I often notice a high backlog of AFC pending pages and would like to help. I understand article curation and have taken part in a number of AFD discussions and I have also nominated a number of pages for deletion under CSD. This seems like the type of backlog I'd be into helping with. I've spent some time at AfD and try to be as reasonable as I can be there, I'd rather help an article be kept wherever possible but am not shy of saying delete when that's the right call. I did NPP for a while but let that lapse while I was busy IRL, but I'd like to give this a try instead. Paultalk❭ 11:27, 28 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
