Question[edit]

Good day to you, I am currently in an edit war with another user over nicknames. Can you help me out and try to solve this. You can check the context of the situation on my contribution history with the following pages : Alex Pereira, Jailton Almeida, and Deiveson Figueiredo. I am relatively new to editing and am aware that I may make mistakes, so any help and advice is welcome. Articlread (talk) 06:49, 14 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Articlread: Hi there! Part of the Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle is the discussion that should happen when editors have disagreements about article content. I looked at the talk pages for these three articles and didn't see any discussion related to this issue. Where are you discussing this with your fellow editors? GoingBatty (talk) 01:21, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hes not. He just decided he was right about an established practice and decided to double down on it after I reverted it. Nswix (talk) 19:34, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Nswix it’s not about me or you, it’s about the context of the matter. The nicknames are not supposed to be translated because they are meant to be said in the way they were chosen by their fighters and there is no source proving your translations are even true. Cassiopeia thanked me after I removed the unnecessary translations and I think we can work on reaching a consensus on the topic. Wikipedia isn’t about our egos and emotions. Let’s not get caught up and find a solution. Articlread (talk) 20:16, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There, I linked you in a discussion Nswix (talk) 20:37, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And on another note, I'm sorry I got emotional in our edit war, and your other edits in the MMA space have been really great. Nswix (talk) 20:47, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Executiverestoration (08:46, 20 April 2024)[edit]

I am new to Wikipedia . Are there any special things I need to do to get started writing articles? Thank you, David Snell Executive Restoration --Executiverestoration (talk) 08:46, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Executiverestoration: Hi Davia, and thanks for reaching out! Unfortunately, you're not going to like my answers.
  • Having a user name that is the same as your company goes against the Wikipedia:Username policy - see WP:CORPNAME.
  • Wikipedia is not the place to promote your company - see WP:NOTPROMO.
  • Writing an article about your own company is not encouraged due to the inherent conflict of interest - see WP:PSCOI.
  • In order for an article about a company to be accepted, it would have to meet Wikipedia's guidelines for inclusion, called "notability" - see WP:ORGCRIT.
I presume this isn't what you wanted to hear, but I hope this prevents you from wasting time on an article that might not be accepted, and you would not be able to own going forward. However, if you would like to edit other articles where you do not have a conflict of interest, a good place to start is Help:Introduction. I recommend that everyone make small improvements to existing articles to learn the ropes before diving in on the much harder task to create a new article. Question from Znr2024 (00:57, 22 April 2024)[edit]

Good Day, may I ask if we can earn money from wikipedia? --Znr2024 (talk) 00:57, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Znr2024: Hi there! Most work on Wikipedia is done by volunteers. Paid editing is frowned upon and would require you disclosing your employer: see WP:PAID. You could also apply for jobs with the Wikimedia Foundation - see https://wikimediafoundation.org/about/jobs GoingBatty (talk) 13:06, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
