Xbox (first generation)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was withdrawn. Yet another case where I'll just say "whatever" and move on. 😁 (non-admin closure) Steel1943 (talk) 00:08, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect with questionable utility. For one, at the present time, redirects such as Xbox (second generation) do not exist. For two, there was no Xbox system that was released during the first generation of video game consoles, and the structure of this redirect could make a reader believe that there may have been. All in all, I don't see this redirect being clear enough to continue existing. Steel1943 (talk) 22:44, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - Seems relatively clear to me. Xbox has had 4 generations, and is an overarching brand. This is a viable search term for the first iteration. It's both helpful (and ironically less confusing) considering Microsoft's confusing naming system for the brand. (Ie, "Xbox One" is actually their third generation of product, etc.) Sergecross73 msg me 22:49, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep It's obvious that this refers to the first generation Xbox, and therefore redirects there, because it shares its name with the Xbox (fourth generation) (the fourth generation Xbox which has the models Series X and Series S). The fact that it isn't part of the first generation of video game consoles is irrelevant. It's the first generation in it's product line. -- ferret (talk) 23:20, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep one of several ways that the original Xbox is made distinct from the current Xbox line. --Masem (t) 23:31, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: Seem logical enough to me plus it is WP:CHEAP. This is similar to products like iPad (1st generation) and iPhone SE (2nd generation) Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 23:36, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I’ll do the pleasure of creating Xbox (second generation) since it seems like it’s gonna snow. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 23:39, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Political status of the Palestinian territories[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Status of territories occupied by Israel in 1967. As there was no opposition to the retargeting suggestion. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 23:47, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget to Status of territories occupied by Israel in 1967, this is much better target, the article about the status of the Palestinian territories and the Golan Heights. The second (worse) option: refine to Palestinian territories#Political status and sovereignty. Can someone tag the redirect? I'm not an extended confirmed user yet. I can find pretty much nothing that refers to New Hope as Old Hope. There might have been a mill there previously called Old Hope Mills that was destroyed then renamed to New Hope Mills, but I can't find a good WP:RS on that, and I can find nothing saying that New Hope was ever referred to as Old Hope. TartarTorte 22:03, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. I find nothing for "Old Hope" anywhere. BhamBoi (talk) 06:47, 12 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe redirect to The Sims 2 where they mention Pleasants and Goths? AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 12:53, 2 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Sims seems superior because unlike The Sims 2 it actually uses the phrase "Goth family" (twice) and mentions it in regards to both The Sims 2 and The Sims 3, so is the more encompassing target. Mdewman6 (talk) 01:35, 3 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Goth (surname). I don't think it can be taken for granted that people entering this search time are looking for the video game. Furius (talk) 01:50, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Fine with this so long as a mention of the fictional use is added with a wikilink to The Sims. Mdewman6 (talk) 02:36, 4 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The character's ordainment as a minister is discussed in one episode, but not in the enwiki article. The lack of mention combined with the unique misspelling of the last name makes this an incredibly implausible search term. Delete. Mdewman6 (talk) 20:56, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seems to be a very uncommon alternative name as it only had 310 page views[1] throughout its entire life time. I don’t see much on Google besides a Reddit discussion related to the name. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 14:15, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - I have never heard the NES be referred to as "Regular Nintendo". Contemporary sources would have called it just "Nintendo", modern-day sources call it NES. MightyArms (talk) 18:21, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete I have never heard that term used to describe the NES.--65.92.162.81 (talk) 00:21, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as obscure synonym at best --Lenticel (talk) 00:21, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • I imagine someone meant this as a way of referring to the original Nintendo Entertainment System rather than it's successor, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. (Ie "No, that's not a Super Nintendo, it's just the older 'regular' Nintendo".) I see what they were trying to do, and I could see someone casually saying that out loud in a personal conversation, but page view evidence is relatively clear that it's not something one would write in encyclopedic prose or search for either. Sergecross73 msg me 18:30, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete I can almost see how this could be a common search term. But the page views show that it's pretty obscure. Jontesta (talk) 20:30, 13 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The NES controller isn’t usually known as the NES basic controller. Google doesn’t show anything related to “NES Controller Basic”. Note that the disambiguation starts with a capital letter. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 14:04, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - This redirect insinuates that the later "dogbone"-style controller is the most well-known, when in fact, the so-called "basic" controller is the one that people almost universally associate with the NES, and hardly anyone other than hardcore gamers even know the "dogbone" controller exists. MightyArms (talk) 21:18, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as either improper disambiguation or an unlikely search term, take your pick. Sergecross73 msg me 18:32, 9 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Open for buisness[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Open for Business. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 00:40, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is a generic term. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 00:19, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Open for Business as a plausible misspelling (I + U transposition). Hatnote there. J947edits 00:38, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate - The correctly spelled redirect 'open for business' should be changed into a disambiguation page that links to both the two musical releases with this title as well as the television series with this title (plus the video game with this title). Then 'open for buisness [sic]' can go to the correctly spelled page. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 00:39, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This being the correctly spelled page. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 00:43, 25 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Buisness is a redirect to Business, so I don't think we can discount this as an implausible misspelling on its own merits. Also I oppose targeting Open for Business (disambiguation) because none of the entries use the lowercase form. If the uppercase version has a primary topic, the lowercase version should default to the same primary topic unless it's a case of WP:DIFFCAPS, which this is not currently. If we could identify content regarding the general phrase to point to and it were included on the disambiguation page, that would change things, but that's not presently the case. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:28, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, the correctly spelled version is not officially part of this nomination, so retargeting it would need clear consensus or a subsequent separate discussion. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:31, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
