Veenapoovu[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Sir Terry[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was move disambiguation page over redirect. Deryck C. 12:35, 28 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have to go very far in Google to get results that aren't about Terry Pratchett - in fact, Terry Matthews comes up before Wogan does. Doesn't seem like there's a good case for this redirecting to him. Taylor Trescott - my talk + my edits 06:23, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. It reminds me of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Lord Edward... -- Tavix (talk) 23:25, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep since the target page says that Terry Wogan is also known as "Sir Terry" and reliable sources use it to refer to him (e.g. BBC). Second choice would be to move DAB over redirect, since Sir + First Name is sometimes used to refer to knights unlike "Lord Edward" (unless you're a Westerosi noble) and because knighted people with the first name Terry is a concrete, reified grouping. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 15:50, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Highway of Heroes[edit]

The result of the discussion was keep, effectively withdrawn, and adding a hatnote to the section. kelapstick(bainuu) 20:23, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Since the renaming of the section of the 401 between Toronto and Trenton to Highway of Heroes, three other highways have been designated with that name (one partial, and two entirely). Suggest a retarget to List of highways named Highway of Heroes. kelapstick(bainuu) 04:57, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and hatnote to the list. Overwhelming usage of the term in reliable sources is for the Ontario highway and the others get almost nothing except for routinte coverage of the name changes. Searching Google News for "Highway of Heroes" 111 (the number of the Nova Scotia highway) gets three hits, all of which refer to the Ontario highway. Searching GNews for "Highway of Heroes" "Route 2" (the New Brunswick highway) gets 1 hit, which refers to the Ontario highway. It's not a perfect indicator since both of those searches are missing the coverage of their renaming, but it clearly shows that the Ontario highway is the primary topic.---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 05:18, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • As it turns out, the TransCanada in PEI has also been named Highway of Heroes, as well as a stretch of highway in Manitoba (although I can't find a reliable source to cite that to). Putting a hatnote on the section is probably a better option than retargeting the redirect, per Patar knight's primary topic argument. --kelapstick(bainuu) 20:20, 21 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. Please follow WP:RM#TR, specifially point four, when the draft is reviewed and ready to be moved. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 02:41, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Delete to make room for moving Draft:PDP-12 into mainspace Mduvekot (talk) 14:19, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. When the article has been reviewed successfully it can be moved over this redirect by any administrator either directly or following a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves, it is not necessary to separately delete the redirect first. Until the article is ready for the article namespace, the redirect continues to serve readers better than a redlink. Thryduulf (talk) 18:37, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep until specific article is ready. — JFG talk 22:54, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Apologies, I'm probably not understanding the process, but as as an AfC reviewer, I am unable to move the article over the redirect using Wikipedia:AFCH. The article is ready IMO, what should be my next step? Mduvekot (talk) 01:55, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Private sale loophole[edit]

The result of the discussion was retargeted to Gun show loophole.---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 02:39, 26 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The current target is not actually about the loophole but a proposed way of closing it. It should redirect to Gun show loophole instead, which lists "private sale loophole" as an alternative to the term "gun show loophole", implying they are the same thing (and they certainly seem to be).
