US 400[edit]

Can you please fix the mileage i made on US 400 please 98.186.55.18 (talk) 01:19, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Could you please be more specific about what you would like fixed in the U.S. Route 400 article? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 04:46, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

GoingBatty Can you please fix the future exits on US 400 i made the other day please i would except that. 98.186.55.18 (talk) 14:34, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor, you'll have to be even more specific - what problem(s) do you see with the article? 199.208.172.35 (talk) 17:48, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Out of curiosity, I took a look. And I found a table with a few cells that were clearly shifted out of position. I fixed that; I trust the data I moved to appropriate columns are also in the rows to which they apply. It was largely a matter of correcting a couple of row span arguments. If that's what the IP editor was asking for, you're welcome. Uporządnicki (talk) 18:36, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
An IP editor (this one? two different ones?) has been (have been?) inserting new rows into the table to add more information. That's been throwing later rows out of whack. I fixed it. The problem is, rows were added in parts of the table that were part of row spans (as most of that table is); when you do that, you have to edit the row spans. Was looking through some info to see what pages exist on 3d printed gun modification and found this page List of 3D printed weapons and parts. Seems kind of an odd page to maintain on this wiki. Additional set of eyes on it in some wider forum might be helpful to determine if its AfD or is notable enough as a topic, as discussed a while back on the talk page. Shaded0 (talk) 03:59, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I submitted an AfD for it since this seems the proper forum (here: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/List_of_3D_printed_weapons_and_parts). This above post can be marked resolved. Shaded0 (talk) 05:25, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Re Image Finnih in 2017 moderating a Debate at Texas Southern University.jpeg[edit]

The owner has allowed this image to be used but its been flagged for removal. Please advice

@Johnjacksonhtx: It appears you're referring to commons:File:Finnih in 2017 moderating a debate at Texas Southern University.jpg, which is marked as "a copyright violation because it is copyrighted and not published under a free license." The owner may upload the photo, but you may not do it on the owner's behalf. For more information, see commons:Commons:Licensing and the commons:Commons:Help desk. Hope this helps, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 04:44, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, "Owner has allowed this image" isn't good enough; that still qualifies as fair use (as the image would still be under full copyright), and we do not accept fair-use images of living people. See WP:NFCC. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v a little blue Bori 04:51, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @GoingBatty for the feedback. The owner tried to donate the image to wikimedia commons but received an error that the image is a duplicate due to previous uploads. Please advice Johnjacksonhtx (talk) 04:57, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Johnjacksonhtx: You can ask the copyright holder to follow the instructions at commons:Commons:Volunteer Response Team#Licensing images: when do I contact VRT?. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 06:34, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Orange Grove Gauteng[edit]

Good Day, I was born & grew up in Orange Grove. Your Wikipedia article stated that in the 1970s in was know as little Italy due to the fact that some italiand had looked for work and settled in Orange Grove. I would like to go a little further into the history. During World War II there was a prisoner war camp established at Sonderwater where numerous Italian soldiers were held as prisoners of war. I had an uncle who was held captive as a POW in Italy. When the Germans were advancing into Italy he and many others Escaped. He hid in the mountains where some Italians fed him and gave him blakets to keep warm. Those same people had relatives here at Sonderwater a POW's. They comucincated by post and my uncle was lucky enough to send some messages to South Africa. During the weekends these Italian soldiers could have a pass and were let out. These Italian relatives found out through my uncle where my parents lived in Orange Grove. So they delivered messages to my parents saying my uncle was safe. A lot of these same Italian soldiers then returned to South AFrica aafter the war with a quite a few setting up home in Orange Grove as they new the area and liked it from visiting my parents and others.

This is one of the main reasons Orange Grove was known as Little Italy.

Just thought I would let your interesting Wikipedia knew more facts about the area I know like the back of my hand.

Kind Regards, Derrick Searle 105.226.9.247 (talk) 12:02, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

While that is interesting, we can't use what you know due to Wikipedia's verification policy. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 12:56, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

E-mail preferences[edit]

I have an e-mail address associated with my account at en.wiki. Is there a way to retain that on en.wiki but remove it from other Wikimedia projects? And, if the answer is yes, can I do it without going to my preferences on each project (the language barriers are a nightmare)? Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:26, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23: Email adresses can only be specified globally across all projects. It is, however, possible to restrict other projects from sending you emails by first turning all email-related preferences off everywhere using Special:GlobalPreferences, and then selectively reenabling the email preferences for specific projects by visiting that project's version of Special:Preferences. (Oh and you can also set a unified language for the system interface and system emails using Special:GlobalPreferences) Victor Schmidt (talk) 14:56, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Victor Schmidt: I generally think that the developers design some of these things in a manner that is least helpful. Putting that gripe aside, I tried following your first suggestion and after managing to "ungray" things at GlobalPeferences, I turned off e-mail and clicked on Save. However, when I return it to it, it's as it was before, meaning still on.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:15, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23: I can't identify the problem. Could you please confirm for the first step, that in your Special:GlobalPreferences, in the line that says "Allow other users to email me" that the first checkbox is checked, and the second checkbox is unchecked? If it isn't, try changing it and saving prefs. Victor Schmidt (talk) 15:23, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Victor Schmidt: I must've done something wrong the first time in GlobalPreferences. Looking at GlobalPreferences and en.wiki SpecialPreferences now, it looks like everything is the way I want it. Thanks!--Bbb23 (talk) 15:29, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
And it works, at least for other users trying to mail you. You can be mailed here at Special:EmailUser/Bbb23 but when your username is entered at de:Special:EmailUser it says (with English Interface): "This user has chosen not to receive email from other users." A page like de:Special:EmailUser/Bbb23 used to also say this but not since 2018 (phab:T209786). Now it just asks for a username. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:38, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

George F. Baker High School[edit]

(Redacted) 68.193.118.165 (talk) 15:42, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1. All this belongs at Talk:George F. Baker High School, not here.
2. All of this requires citations to reliable published sources. --Orange Mike | Talk 16:15, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Cross namespace page move[edit]

File:Maria_Bregman.jpg Looking for a second opinion, I've never made (iirc) a cross namespace move. The request is to move it to article space, however I feel it should be moved to draft space. My concern is, is it just a simple page move or are there other concerns? - FlightTime (open channel) 19:21, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures don't belong in either article or draft space, but File: space, where it is. However the article content does need moving to a draft: I don't think this can be done by a move, though, but requires a cut and paste. ColinFine (talk) 19:24, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@ColinFine: There is a duplicate file File:Maria Bregman writer.jpg, so C/P the article content to Draft:Maria Bregman and delete File:Maria_Bregman.jpg as {{nowcommons}}? Seems correct, but that's why I'm here :P I now see the draft exists also, so just use the file on Commons for the draft and CSD File:Maria_Bregman.jpg? Do you think the article content on the file page should be overwritten to the draft? - FlightTime (open channel) 19:47, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How to put inline citations in an infobox[edit]

I'm trying to clean up the cite-web references in the article for the Ahsoka Tano page, where it says George Lucas created the character and then links, but the references do not closed </ref> tags. But when I add them ,suddenly the infobox continuing information disappears. I can produce the source if need be, but I am not sure how to exactly do this.MarvelAge91 (talk) 20:49, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@MarvelAge91: I'm not sure what you tried but the references were missing the ending }} in the citation templates. Fixed in [1]. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:00, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunterI did try putting the }} for the templates but it just moved all the info below it to the main body, so I am not sure what I did wrong. I did try to close the </ref> tags. MarvelAge91 (talk) 23:43, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Interlanguage link on-way only, but only on mobile device[edit]

If, using a mobile device, I go to it:Harriet (film) in Italian language Wikipedia and I press the "other languages" button, it tell me something like "no other languages available".

But if I go to Harriet (film) in English language Wikipedia, I can get the Italian one.

Even stranger: if I use a computer, it works both ways. Meridiana solare (talk) 21:24, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Even (even) stanger: now it works both way using a mobile device too. Meridiana solare (talk) 21:56, 11 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
