Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

European ex-royalty/nobility articles tagging[edit]

We get that you don’t think deposed/former royal houses etc should have ongoing references to past titles or even have articles. It’s a ‘point of view’ (POV) that’s often been debated at various articles. But notability tagging or ‘expert needed’ tagging is WP:POINTy and an incorrect use of maintenance tags. By all means open up a talk page discussion - but when there are multiple newspaper articles about the subject cited, for instance, the notability tag is inappropriate per WP:GNG. Disambiguation link notification for August 10[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Dogger Bank incident, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Hague Convention. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:01, 10 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Allowed Wikilinks[edit]

Hi, please could you note that it is not overlinking to link the first instance in the main text, as well as once in the lead, and once in an image caption. Other links may be acceptable in some cases All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 02:13, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Chiswick Chap, sorry, which article are you talking about? Meridiana solare (talk) 13:53, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry, Silmarils. I put a couple of links back. All ok now. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:29, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Chiswick Chap But they were not in an image caption, the were both the main text (once in lead section and once in another section). Actually one wikilinks was repeated the very next line of text. Meridiana solare (talk) 14:33, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I only mentioned the caption as a further instance which would be ok. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:35, 19 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

What you just posted did not substitute properly. I suggest you try again, but this time, precede "Uw-test1" with "subst:"

@Anita5192, thank you. I've give a look. It's seem that a bot has already substed it. Meridiana solare (talk) 19:45, 28 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Calicanto[edit]

Buona sera @Meridiana solare. In particolare: "However, wikipedia admins of any project tend to look kindly on a history of constructive contributions to other Wikimedia projects, so if you can undertake to build up such a history of constructive contributions for six months or a year, with no socking on the Italian Wikipedia, a subsequent unblock request may be granted".

Meridiana solare (talk) 20:39, 19 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Va bene grazie lo stesso. A chi posso segnalare? 14 novembre (talk) 18:27, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Buona serata 14 novembre (talk) 18:53, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
