How to make a list of pages easy to add to a watchlist?[edit]

How can I make a list of pages such that somebody can easily add them all to their watchlist at once? I think I've seen this on some WikiProjects. —Naddruf (talk ~ contribs) 03:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe I'm not understanding the question but you seem to be saying you want to create a list that you will use to create a watchlist. 331dot (talk) 08:22, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think Naddruf is looking for a method of (semi-)automatically adding multiple predefined pages to a watchlist simultaneously. If so, I suppose a very rudimentary way of achieving that would be by creating a plain-text list of the article names, and instructing the users in question to visit Special:EditWatchlist/raw and copy the article names to the top of the list. (I would imagine there is probably an easier way of doing this, however.) — TheHardestAspectOfCreatingAnAccountIsAlwaysTheUsername: posted at 08:30, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Naddruf: Maybe you are thinking of Help:Public watchlist. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:33, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Where do I find other editors to help with an article?[edit]

I'm trying to make add some content and make improvements to the article on Tonosho, Kagawa, but Wikipedia is, after all, a collaborative project and I'd love to find other editors who could help out. Specifically, I found some images (Talk:Tonoshō, Kagawa) that would work better for the sidebar but I don't know how to put them in a collage or do copyright stuff, and to be honest I don't really want to spend the time figuring it out. My strength is accessing and sourcing Japanese articles, so I'd rather spend time on that.

What's the best way to find other editors who could help with putting images in, or just to help improve the article?

Cheers, Fredlesaltique (talk) 07:50, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Fredlesaltique: If the images already exist on Commons (and you did not upload them five minutes prior), you can assume the copyright stuff has been dealt with.
I would think that your talk page post provides enough rationale to have a WP:GALLERY section. TigraanClick here to contact me 08:19, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and image edition requests are usually for the graphics lab. I am not sure how they receive simple requests for a collage, but it does not hurt to ask, does it? TigraanClick here to contact me 08:51, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Tigraan: Thanks for reply! I couldn't find any community space over there, just a bunch of information--is there an active talk space over there?
I guess I'm also trying to figure out how (or if?) other editors reach out to each other for help improving articles. Like, are there active project pages or is there a tag I add or ways to ping editors who would be interested (in photo stuff, improving small city articles, sidebar help, etc. etc.)? Cheers, Fredlesaltique (talk) 00:30, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Fredlesaltique: The graphic lab requests go in three queues: maps, photograph edition, and the rest - so in this case you should probably ask at Wikipedia:Graphics_Lab/Photography_workshop.
By topic, there are Wikiprojects (for instance here Wikipedia:WikiProject Japan seems appropriate). I am not aware of any infobox-specific group, but WP:GCE can help with general formatting requests.
If all this seems a bit messy, well, that is because it is! TigraanClick here to contact me 07:58, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry for your loss. Wikipedia summarizes what published independent reliable sources state. If there is missing information in the article you are referencing(you don't tell us which one it is) and you have reliable sources to support it, please offer them on the article talk page, detailing changes you feel are needed. Please be aware of conflict of interest and the Biographies of Living Persons policy; we cannot post in an article that someone committed a crime unless that person is convicted in a court of law of a crime. 331dot (talk) 09:13, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Is there some way to fix this problem with the LE Template?[edit]

A question[edit]

I became a novice editor today and I was just wondering...

There's people with colorful names, and I don't know how those kind of come around. How would I make mine like that?

xdude (talk) 16:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Xdude gamer See Wikipedia:Signatures. It sets forth the guidelines for what you should and shouldn't have in your signature and how to customize it. There used to be some people running signature shops where they would help with coding and to make sure it was within policy, but those are frowned upon now. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:03, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ok! Thanks for your help. xdude (talk) 17:04, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Starting a talk page[edit]

Could anyone please tell me if there's any procedure for starting a talk page? I just want to ask a question about an article, but the talk page is currently nonexistent, so if there's something I should do first, other than format the heading of the section myself, then please let me know.--Thylacine24 (talk) 20:12, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Thylacine24: Ideally, you should also add a few WikiProject banners, depending on what the article is about, such as {{WikiProject Biography|living=yes}} (|living=yes when the article is about a living person), {{WikiProject Mathematics}} {{WikiProject Games}} etc. Victor Schmidt (talk) 20:24, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Victor Schmidt: Thanks.--Thylacine24 (talk) 20:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Thylacine24: This may be obvious, but after adding project banners, click New section and add a Subject/headline for your question. TSventon (talk) 20:32, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TSventon: Thanks. Could you please tell me if the ratings on the banners are something that occur over time, or if there's a way to find out right now?--Thylacine24 (talk) 20:37, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Thylacine24: Somebody has to do the assessment, so you can either do it yourself or leave it for somebody else to do. Wikipedia:WikiProject Wikipedia/Assessment explains the process. I started by assessing articles as stub or start and leaving them for another editor if they looked better than that. TSventon (talk) 20:51, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TSventon: Thanks. The article I'm trying to start the talk page of is fairly small, but it's about an author and she at least has a short biography (besides the lead) and a bibliography attached. One of the categories beneath calls it a stub, though. Could you please tell me if that's still small enough to be a stub? Sorry to ask a follow-up question.--Thylacine24 (talk) 21:14, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Thylacine24: It would do you much good to link the article. versacespacetalk to me 21:22, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@VersaceSpace: Sorry not to have done so earlier. Here it is.--Thylacine24 (talk) 21:26, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Thylacine24: it looks like a start-class article to me. But someone has to assess it. versacespacetalk to me 21:35, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@VersaceSpace: Thanks. Could you please tell me if I should just post the banners and leave it for someone else to assess?--Thylacine24 (talk) 21:36, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Thylacine24: that's what I would do. Someone will likely get to it. versacespacetalk to me 21:41, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@VersaceSpace: Thanks for telling me.--Thylacine24 (talk) 21:54, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello,

Can someone please help me to publish this?

Everything is good with the article I think

Thanks so much!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Purple velvet22 (talkcontribs) 21:01, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Purple velvet22: to submit an article, click this link. However, if you do, I plan to decline the article. The article has zero references. versacespacetalk to me 21:08, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Purple velvet22: You say "Chrystal is releasing music and garnering very positive reviews." Splendid. Reviews by whom? Published where? What do they say? Cite them. -- Hoary (talk) 06:37, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Note: See #Can someone please publish this? above. Editor has received quite a bit of advice in various locations but the article still falls short of required standards. Eagleash (talk) 09:06, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of uneditable .js file[edit]

Hi,

After my account has been renamed from B222 to Bertux, I would like to cleanup and have my old User:B222/monobook.js removed. It is a useless redirect to User:Bertux/monobook.js and I can't tag it with a speedy delete template as the file can only be edited by the non-existent user B222.

Is there a page for requests like this? Could I ask a random administrator?

Thanks →bertux 21:59, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Bertux: I have deleted it. PrimeHunter (talk) 22:50, 29 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Bertux: In future, ask at Wikipedia:Interface administrators' noticeboard, because those folks are the ones with the nessesary permissions to delete .js pages in userspace. Victor Schmidt (talk) 06:41, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Victor Schmidt: any admins can delete .js files in userspace, but only interface admins can edit or restore them. Elli (talk | contribs) 07:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh indeed? Didn't know that. I recalled that you only can delete pages which you can edit, but i guess that comes from elsewhere. Victor Schmidt (talk) 07:09, 30 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
