Sonic 2K6[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Withdraw. (non-admin closure) Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 13:17, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea what this means at all. From my research it could either be a non notable fan game which would be WP:FANCRUFT, or it could be a non notable fan nickname for the game. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 19:13, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - "2K6" is a slang way of writing "2006". This game was often referred to as Sonic 06, Sonic 2006, or Sonic 2K6 because was released in 2006 but technically had the same title as a game that came out in 1991 as well. Sergecross73 msg me 19:22, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment - Technically, two games titled "Sonic the Hedgehog" came out in 1991 - the well-known title for the Genesis/Mega Drive, and a game for the Master System and Game Gear. The MS/GG game is not a port, as it features different levels and music. MightyArms (talk) 10:57, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm not sure what that adds to this conversation, but you are correct. Sergecross73 msg me 13:36, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - "2K6" is just an abbreviated form of "2006", which makes the redirect appropriate. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 06:44, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not only is this redirect a hoax, it also does not have a reliable source to back this redirect up. Magnatyrannus (talk | contribs) 23:23, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep used by a single 1953 french language research paper. See [1] (page 541). I agree that "Rhynchotheriidae" was an inappropriate WP:OR fork by the article creator, which is why I redirected it, but it is fine as a redirect. Hemiauchenia (talk) 23:29, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Hemi, but also because its subfamily version, Rhynchotheriinae, is legit and in the article. See also [2] - UtherSRG (talk) 23:55, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Implausible redirect due to the disambiguation. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 16:50, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete What's a "synd"? –LaundryPizza03 (d) 22:56, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I think it's supposed to be short for "syndication", which was how these cartoons were originally released, but I'm not sure how on Earth someone would come up with that as an abbreviation. MightyArms (talk) 11:42, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • Seems to be distinct as this specific show was the only one originally released under syndication, but searching for this term verbatim only turns up the redirect article, this discussion, and an entry on Cylist. Not sure if that is enough to make this search term plausible? 193.37.240.164 (talk) 11:50, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was retarget to History of the Americas. Jay 💬 16:46, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not seeking deletion, but input on what to do with this. It has some history as a disambiguation page, but has bounced around to several different targets as a redirect. Most incoming links are relevant to Columbus. Should this be a dab page? If it is to be a redirect, what article should it target? There are some related redirects pointing to History of the Americas; Discovery of America, Discoverers of the Americas, Discoverer of the americas, and Discoverer of the Americas Plantdrew (talk) 16:46, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to History of the Americas. The current target discusses settlement of the Americas by indigenous peoples, but I think it's at least as likely that someone searching for this is interested in the discovery of the Americas by Europeans. History of the Americas covers both options. Hut 8.5 17:44, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to History of the Americas, per the above statement. This way, the redirect has more potential to be correct to the potential reader. Johnson524 (Talk!) 01:37, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget as above per consensus at this 2020 RfD. This redirect has a long history, and it might be best to ping the main editors. (I need to go to bed!) J947edits 09:32, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Could refer to any Sonic prototype like Sonic Extreme. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 13:32, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete or disambig. There are no prototypes listed at the obvious List of Sonic the Hedgehog video games but multiple different ones are mentioned in multiple articles, so disambiguation may be possible. While this could theoretically refer to prototypes of things other than an anthropomorphic hedgehog it wasn't until I used the search term sonic prototype -hedgehog -sega -genesis -heroes -games -nintendo -"hidden palace" that I got anything else, and even then it was non-notable things that weren't actually called "Sonic prototype" (e.g. a non-notable book about the development of Concorde, including prototypes, called Sonic Editions, so we don't need to worry about that in practice. Thryduulf (talk) 14:54, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - there's been many prototype Sonic games leaked over the years, so there's no one place to target this. None of the prototypes are independently notable, and I think any attempt to compile them in a centralized location on Wikipedia would become a cruft magnet because so many don't get any reliable source coverage. Sergecross73 msg me 13:10, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep I don't see how this is confusing, the Network 10 article says that the subject is known as Channel 10 and it operates exclusively in Australia. It's also fair to say that it's the primary topic, the only other Australian item in Channel 10 is is TEN (TV station) and that's an affiliate of Network 10. • Given the relist comment below: while TEN (TV station) is a plausible target, I think the current target is the primary topic, and that's where the redirect should go. Hut 8.5 17:49, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This was an article on future olympic games that did not yet have an announced host, but was BLARred in 2007 to redirect to Olympic Games. There does not seem to be a place for upcoming olympic games. TartarTorte 01:13, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Bids for Olympic Games - I think this is the most appropriate target for this as it has links to the bidding processes for every Olympic games, including upcoming ones. That said, this does appear a very unlikely way of searching for this, though clearly likely enough as that is what the article was created to show. See also a discussion from when it was BLARed in 2007: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Olympics/Archive 6#Unannounced Olympiads. A7V2 (talk) 04:05, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - as they do not exist yet; it would be like having a link to Unannounced ownership of Wikipedia by User:El cid, el campeador. Until the announcement comes, there is no useful content we can have on the topic. And I do not think it's a likely search term, either. Bids for Olympic Games deals with official bid process and past bids, but it does not cover bids for games which have not yet even been announced. ‡ El cid, el campeador talk 20:40, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete since if something is unannounced, no useful information can be given on the topic, making this a very unlikely redirect to be used. 2601:647:5800:4D2:B01C:780A:C66D:E31 (talk) 01:25, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per above. No point in keeping if the content is still unannounced (i.e. non-existent). CycloneYoris talk! 07:38, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Capital "I" (i) as the third letter in "Bolivia". Unlikely, unnecessary. Steel1943 (talk) 02:23, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect use I instead of L in Islam. Capital I looks similar to capital L. From the standpoint of a search term, this search term is quite implausible. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 02:20, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete: I think? I mean who who ever type it like this? A google search also indicates that with a capital 'i' it's an acronym. Iskandar323 (talk) 04:58, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Mercy killing[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Euthanasia. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 04:06, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I think these redirects should all point to the same page. I suggest either Euthanasia or Involuntary euthanasia. Cheers, gnu57 01:59, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose option one (as that is already what the nominator proposes) and option 3 (different subject altogether). Support option two, as in retargetting to Euthanasia what the original redirect was. The Banner talk 02:36, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all to Euthanasia as that is what all the reliable sources I found in a couple of minutes searching clearly indicate is the meaning, some explicitly noting it as a synonym. I strongly oppose targetting Coup de grâce as that's a completely different subject. Thryduulf (talk) 09:38, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Euthanasia. RPI2026F1 (talk) 17:25, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Euthanasia. I don't think Involuntary euthanasia is as good a target, as a mercy killing may be Non-voluntary euthanasia (where the subject is not capable of consenting). Hut 8.5 17:58, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate all three. They're all potential targets, and I don't really think any of them is the primary topic. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 06:31, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • (Re)target all to Euthanasia. Could refer to any sort of euthanasia, so the best target would be the article about the general topic, where a hatnote that mentions the term exists and provides a link to animal euthanasia. Mdewman6 (talk) 01:09, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • (Re)target all to Euthanasia and hatnote Coup de grâce. I don't see how Coup de grâce is a "different subject". Oppose Involuntary euthanasia as a disambig entry as Euthanasia already covers it, per Mdewman6. Jay 💬 03:34, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

No such list anywhere. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 14:34, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's an erroneously "fixed" double redirect. It originally targeted Characters in the Paper Mario series, a former article, before it was BLARed in 2010. Either we revert the article/redirect setup to its pre-2010 state or delete if we don't. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 15:16, 27 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - it unlikely that characters from the series ever garner enough coverage to warrant such a list on Wikipedia. Sergecross73 msg me 12:52, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Retarget per other comments. As far as I know the owl in Super Mario 64 is never named in game, its citation on Mario Wiki is to an official players' guide, so a very unlikely search term for Super Mario 64 regardless. WPscatter t/c 16:32, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
