H. Clinton[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Clinton. (non-admin closure) Clyde!Franklin! 00:41, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

H Clinton was already deleted at a previous RfD, and this redirect was bundled with the aforementioned redirect at an RfD almost three years earlier which closed as no consensus, so this should suffer the same fate per WP:CONSENSUSCANCHANGE. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 23:59, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak retarget to Clinton, where Hillary as well as many Henrys (as well as an entire disambiguation page of them) are mentioned. I'm not 100% sure if that really makes this a plausible redirect to the page, but it lists more Clintons than just Hillary. Regards, SONIC678 00:30, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Clinton and recreate H Clinton as a redirect to the same target and tag both as {{R from ambiguous}}. Both are likely but ambiguous search terms and all of the notable H Clintons are listed on that page or on the Henry Clinton dab linked from it. Thryduulf (talk) 00:36, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Clinton per above. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 14:15, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Chair(professorship)[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. plicit 23:38, 26 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:RDAB due to the lack of a space between the title and the disambiguator. The properly spaced variant, Chair (professorship), exists and targets the same target as the nominated redirect. Steel1943 (talk) 23:23, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Judge carter[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Judge Carter. which is a new disambiguation with the proper case. Jay 💬 14:12, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In addition to the current target, could refer to several people at Carter (surname), however rather than retargeting unhelpfully to that long list and given that the correct Judge Carter doesn't exist, I favor deletion. Mdewman6 (talk) 22:49, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Disambig at Judge Carter and retarget this there. That's the most helpful we can be and I can't see any reason why not to be helpful. Thryduulf (talk) 22:53, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is also Justice Carter; it likely makes sense to combine the dabs by adding the judges to the existing page. Mdewman6 (talk) 23:34, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy with either a single dab page or two different ones linked by see alsos, I have no immediate preference for one over the other. Thryduulf (talk) 00:33, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I have started Draft:Judge Carter. I am undecided whether this should be a separate dab page, or merged to Justice Carter. We seem to have examples of both styles: Justice Berry covers Judge Berry as well, whereas we have separate pages for Justice Brown and Judge Brown. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 01:52, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I am also finding both strategies are used; generally they appear to be combined if the resulting combined page isn't very long. I have also combined some where there was complete overlap. I started a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Law#Separate or combined "Judge X" and "Justice X" disambiguation pages?. My guess is that these should be combined, given the ambiguity between judge and justice, and the fact that most justices were previously judges, unless the resulting list would be too long. In this case, I think a combined page would be good. Mdewman6 (talk) 02:28, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I would strongly oppose combining them, as this would be misleading. There is no circumstance under which anyone on the "Judge Carter" list could correctly be referred to as "Justice Carter". BD2412 T 02:52, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment as nom I made comments about the general issue at the above wikiproject discussion, but for this specific case, I support moving Draft:Judge Carter to mainspace and retargeting this redirect there pending further discussion. Mdewman6 (talk) 21:40, 24 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

None of these fictional characters/plot points/locations (and my word, there are a lot) are mentioned at the target. * Pppery * it has begun... 18:40, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Trainwreck. I've only looked at the first five of these so far but I've already got four different recommendations (delete, disambig, revert, and unsure). At least some of them are the results of undiscussed mergers/BLARs by Black Kite, at least one of which seems to merit a discusison at AfD rather than deletion of content here. I strongly encourage you to withdraw this and nominate them individually over several days to give time for proper investigation. Thryduulf (talk) 23:12, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Pull the emergency brakes per Thryduulf! I also haven't checked through all of this baggage, but I did find that several of these terms are in the titles of multiple articles (and a few with Wiktionary entries), and there's also the potential AfD stuff. I'm also afraid it might not reach a solid verdict for some of these redirects, so I'll have to agree with Thryduulf on renominating these individually and/or in smaller groups to allow more time for rummaging through the luggage car until the train can safely start. Regards, SONIC678 23:24, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect what happened here is that, from the perspective of the person doing the nomination, these redirects are all closely related (all detrtirus left over from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Three Worlds Cycle and a mass redirect of the books making up said cycle that I performed after the close of that AfD), so bundling seemed to make sense. I see, now, that from the perspective of RfD respondents it's a massive group of unrelated things if you look outside my framing, and am now going to withdraw and nominate in smaller chunks. * Pppery * it has begun... 00:36, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) Clyde!Franklin! 00:43, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect is misleading as the game was not released in 2013. In the previous discussion, it was briefly argued that the redirect represents that the game was once scheduled for 2013, but that would go against WP:NCVGDAB. Back then, I did not see the responses in time, so here goes a new discussion. @Sonic678, Zxcvbnm, A7V2, Mellohi!, and Hellknowz: pinging contributors of the last discussion. IceWelder [] 15:05, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as before. This is a disambiguation title not a search target that warrants a redirect. To elaborate, I don't really understand the argument that this being a scheduled date at some point means that a redirect from a disambiguation title is needed. Even if the title actually followed WP:NCVGDAB, that's a guideline for title conflicts not for redirects. This is just a remnant of having to retitle the article due to a poor disambiguation scheme. —  HELLKNOWZ  TALK 16:47, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - WP:NCVGDAB is of no relevance whatsoever. The reason to keep this is it is a plausible search term as this was originally a release date announced for the game, and further WP:RFD#K4. A7V2 (talk) 23:14, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per my previous arguments in that discussion. 2013 was the previously planned year of release for the game, as mentioned several times in the article, and I'm not sure I could find anything regarding previously planned dates in WP:NCVGDAB. My opinion still stands. Regards, SONIC678 00:15, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: In my opinion this article’s history is not that important especially since it was only a few hundred bytes of information. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 14:14, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: I'm ok not retaining article history. This essentially was a non-notable announced, yet unrealized, game that is not mentioned elsewhere on Wikipedia, so it seems like there wouldn't be an appropriate place to history merge. Revert and AfD is an option, but both for expediency and WP:NOTBURO, it seems like the result of a restore and AfD would be deletion anyways, so I maintain delete here even with some article history. The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. I see a consensus that this redirect is inappropriate in draftspace, and no consensus on whether it should be recreated in mainspace. Thus, closing this discussion as delete without prejudice to mainspace redirect creation seems appropriate. signed, Rosguill talk 20:00, 27 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

An implausible cross-namespace redirect from a Malayalam translation of "Fast of Nineveh." Should be deleted per WP:RLOTE as Malayalam has no special connection to the target's topic. 2601:647:5800:4D2:E0D3:FE68:779:9EE9 (talk) 04:07, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Draft to main redirects are not harmful in and of themselves so the cross-namespace aspect of this is not a reason to delete on it's own. Thryduulf (talk) 08:19, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
The Fast of Nineveh is observed in Kerala by many Malayali Syriac Orthodox Christians, Assyrian Christians, Malankara Orthodox Syriac Christians etc.,.
It is also an important festival in many churches of the Malayalam-speaking Kerala. PeterBehnam (talk) 17:01, 30 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Improper use of the "Draft:" namespace, especially per WP:RDRAFT considering the nominated redirect is not a {{R from move}} and the redirect's target is not a former draft that was ever hosted at the title of the nominated redirect. • Keep: and promote to mainspace. Among the other churches in Kerala that observe Moonu nombu, mentioned by Thryduulf, the Mar Thoma Syrian Church, which alone has 1 million members and uses Malayalam as a primary language as well is argument enough for keeping. TartarTorte 19:06, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@TartarTorte: Promote "what" to mainspace? As far as I can tell, the nominated redirect has always been a redirect. If you mean that Moonu nombu should be created, anyone can do that WP:BOLDly. Also, if the creator meant to request a redirect be created, that is not done in the "Draft:" namespace, but rather through WP:AFC/R. Steel1943 (talk) 02:31, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
...And for what it's worth, the churches were mentioned by PeterBehnam, not Thryduulf. Steel1943 (talk) 16:26, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the creator of this redirect probably intended to create Moonu nombu instead. They probably didn't understand that you should go to WP:AFC/R to request new redirects, rather than create draft redirects yourself. I agree that there is not really anything to "promote" here. 2601:647:5800:4D2:9DA1:D3F5:F6BF:A61C (talk) 22:55, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Promote was the wrong word, but my assumption, as 2601 correctly pointed out, was that this was created not realizing that WP:AFC/R is the way to create redirects. TartarTorte 22:12, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Already !voted above, but regarding the lack of mention, it seems that there's enough sources to add to Fast of Nineveh, but even if not added, there's no other reasonable target for it. It's, at least from my understanding, far more of a synonym of the Feast of Nineveh than a related, unmentioned concept. TartarTorte 22:14, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It seems that a lot of sites use this term as a synonym for Fast of Nineveh. Therefore, my original claim that Moonu nombu has no connection to the topic is incorrect. It seems that this would be a useful redirect to keep, but it is currently useless in draft space. Therefore, I would Move Draft:Moonu nombu to Moonu nombu without leaving a redirect. 2601:647:5800:4D2:6D83:51CA:4F67:548 (talk) 23:33, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is left from a page move where the article had been for 7 months. This name is not mentioned in the article and as a very common term, landing on an Iranian movie would be confusing for someone searching for info on types of meetings. No links left, so no problem with wikilinks. MB 03:45, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep I added it to the {{lang-fa}} template in the lede; it's an (over)literal translation of the original Persian title, and was used by news media before the official English-language title was decided [1][2]. Per WP:DIFFCAPS, the primary topic of title-case and sentence-case lemmas are not likely to be same; any confusion with sentence case private meeting can be resolved by a hatnote if necessary. The only other topic in Wikipedia correctly referred to as title-case Private Meeting is a minor TV program on Dzaïr News. 61.239.39.90 (talk) 06:38, 28 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep not per WP:SMALLDETAILS, but because nobody here seems to be able to think of any other place this would point if the film didn't exists so the title isn't actually ambiguous. It is never appropriate for an X (Y) disambiguated page to exist when the undisambiguated form X does not exist (except for subjects whose actual name has parentheses in it). * Pppery * it has begun... 14:54, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Regarding the keep arguments of IP61 and Shhhnotsoloud, since we don't have the private meeting page, we cannot hatnote to a redlink, and WP:SMALLDETAILS is not applicable since someone entering "private meeting" (lowercase) and expecting the literal meaning, will be targeted to the Iranian film, and hence the confusion per nom. Regarding Pppery's argument, "Private Meeting" maybe unambiguous but "private meeting" is not, conjugal visit being one of the targets I suggested. Per WP:QUALIFIER, If the article is not about the primary topic for the ambiguous name, the title must be disambiguated. Also, we needn't always have parenthetical disambiguation, a title that describes is also sufficient, such as Private Meeting film. Jay 💬 13:03, 22 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
