World's Edge Island[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete World's Edge Island and retarget Faraway Island to Annika Thor with a hatnote. -- Tavix (talk) 00:22, 23 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Non notable fictional place. This Island was actually a part of an event exclusive to Japan where you could get an item and you could use that item to go to the World’s Edge Island to get a free Mew. Not mentioned in article and no reliable sources to warrant a mention. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 16:14, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note: I’ll also include Faraway Island since it is just a different name for World's Edge Island. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 16:19, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Would it be appropriate to DAB Faraway Island based on the comments above? We don't have articles for the novels, but both novels are mentioned in the authors' articles. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 22:01, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think it would just be better to redirect since Faraway Island isn’t mentioned in the Pokémon article. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 22:38, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Plus they’re just minor mentions in the author articles. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 22:39, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    @Pizzaplayer219: redirect to where? Jay 💬 03:01, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I ment Retarget to Annika Thor but I just saw the mention of Elizabeth Jordan but you can do whatever. Pizzaplayer219TalkContribs 12:09, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget Faraway Island to Annika Thor and put a hatnote there to Elizabeth Jordan. Delete World's Edge Island, not mentioned anywhere in Enwiki. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 14:15, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per Shhhnotsoloud and PizzaPlayer and hatnote to Elizabeth Jordan. A Google search for '"Faraway Island" -Pokemon' gives more results for the Annika Thor book although it's an English translation from Swedish. enwiki has more mentions of Faraway Island (a music composition and an episode), but I would see them as minor for disambiguation entries. Delete World's Edge Island. Jay 💬 11:05, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It was a rumoured name for the system. The talk page archive is Talk:Bosnia and Herzegovina/Archive 1 (with a space) and dates from September 2007 when it was created at the title without a space by user:Esemono who created the article space redirect at the same time as archiving the talk page. In February 2008 the talk archived was moved to the title with a space, leaving a redirect. That redirect was "corrected" by a bot in April 2009 to match the article space redirect. The article space redirect should be deleted. The talk page redirect should either be deleted or retargetted to where the first talk page archive actually is (I'm neutral on that). Snuff video title not mentioned at the target; while it was apparently a working theory that the crime were carried out in order to create snuff films, this has apparently been rejected and the target article includes no suggestion that the videos were published online. Deletion seems appropriate unless evidence linking the video to this group criminal bio can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 15:24, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Note I've added another three formulations to this discussion. Thryduulf (talk) 15:47, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment the target article mentions the videos extensively and does note they were "leaked" onto the internet ("The video showing the murder of Sergei Yatzenko was leaked to a shock site based in the United States and dated 4 December 2008.") but doesn't mention the title, based on my searches of the talk page archives there doesn't seem to have been any particular discussion about whether to include or exclude it. If the title was mentioned then this would be a good redirect but it isn't without such a mention (the motive, both actual and speculated are not relevant in either case). The title is mentioned twice at Shock site (in the "History" and "Ethics" sections) it's a bit more than a passing mention but not a massive amount more and I'm undecided whether this would be enough to anchor a redirect (and if so, which mention would be better). There is deleted former article content in the history of 3 Guys 1 Hammer that was unsourced, only partially encyclopaedic and speedily deleted under criterion A7 for failing to assert significance, if restored today it would also be speediable under A10. Thryduulf (talk) 16:19, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • It was Encyclopedia Dramatica that christened the video 3 Guys 1 Hammer and the name stuck, but it is not in the article due to a lack of sourcing that would meet WP:V.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 16:29, 20 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per WP:COMMONNAME as I've personally found out about the Dnepropetrovsk maniacs via that specific title and the first search Google result of the title leads to the Wikipedia article. Unless the snuff film itself has 0 notability, I don't see why the redirect should be deleted. SuperSkaterDude45 (talk) 02:22, 12 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was restored article and sent to AfD. Hardly any consensus after three relists, but there seems to be some support for restoring the article and nominating at AfD. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 00:01, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This is an WP:XY. They were billed as co-headliners so this tour is about as even in terms of not having a WP:PT as you can get. There's no real benefit to disambiguating here as neither band's article has much on the concert. Either delete per WP:XY or WP:REDYES, but as it stands this redirect is not helpful. I will note, this was BLARred 10 days ago by another user per WP:NTOUR, so if consensus opposes the BLAR, I'm also ok with keep without prejudice to AfD; however, I don't oppose the BLAR myself. TartarTorte 00:34, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Tagging Onel5969 as the BLARrer in case he want to share his opinion on this. TartarTorte 00:35, 22 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - (and thanks for the ping, TartarTorte I really don't care if this gets deleted or kept. My issue was with the article, which did not meet WP:NTOUR. I redirected it the the Maroon 5 page, since it is mentioned there, as opposed to the Counting Crows page, where it is not. I guess putting a #Tours in the redirect would make it more specific. The Lord[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Lord (disambiguation). Legoktm (talk) 00:41, 21 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't this direct to God in Christianity or God in Abrahamic religions? "The Lord" with the definite article obviously most commonly means God as referred to by Christian congregations - is this seriously disputable? This redirect currently links to a section with various general examples of the use of "Lord" (without the definite article) and only very few examples that directly parallel "The Lord" as used in Christianity, in English. The only serious English usage counter-example appears to be in Wiccan religion, but surely this can't seriously rival the Christian usage as primary topic? Iskandar323 (talk) 08:48, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - I think the target explains the usage well. It also mentions that Mormonism amongst others refers to Jesus as The Lord. That section could do with links to the two articles mentioned though, preferably in prose but hatnotes could be added if that's not practical. A7V2 (talk) 08:54, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I was thinking of Mormonism as part of Christianity, but either way both clearly sit under God in Abrahamic religions. Iskandar323 (talk) 09:05, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've boldly redirected that to Lord (disambiguation). That would warrant another discussion. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 14:13, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate. There are any number of characters in fiction that might be referred to in-universe as "The Lord". BD2412 T 17:03, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Examples would be nice. More importantly, do they contradict primary position for the Christian God? Paradoctor (talk) 20:30, 6 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Lord can also refer to the English Lords and deities of other religions. That's what I first thought about when I saw the nomination. Now, that could be because I come from a not-predominantly-Christian place. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 08:42, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That other meanings exist is not in question. Iskandar23 asserted that the Christian god is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC for "The Lord". The other meanings are relevant only insofar as they relate to this issue. Otherwise, they are just items to be disambiguated. Which they already are. Paradoctor (talk) 10:03, 7 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I'm questioning the belief that Christian God is PTOPIC, though I didn't really feel like casting a !vote here. CX Zoom[he/him] (let's talk • {CX}) 15:12, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per Thryduulf and others. Much better to keep this pointing at the DAB, as to provide readers with multiple options which they can choose from. CycloneYoris talk! 00:17, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Targeting the county article would be surprising given the format ("Place, Country" normally goes to cities, not bigger units). Targeting the town is not optimal either: the link to the town on the dab page gets 3x less clicks than the link to the county [2], so it's quite unlikely the county is what most readers want. – Uanfala (talk) 19:02, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
