The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure)Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! (投稿) 23:02, 9 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The character itself is a script G. It's a capital script G, but the page has a lowercase tag on it. The page Script g redirects to G#Typographic_variants, but the character itself redirects to a phonetic sound represented by that character. Would redirecting this character to typographic variants of G be a better target, or should this one be kept? Colgatepony234 (talk) 12:42, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is better to keep it as it is. If a user searches for the lowercase ɡ, which is an IPA symbol, it resolves to this capital . It is more useful for a character that is only used as a phonetic symbol to redirect to an article about the phoneme it represents than to an article with a brief mention of the symbol’s typographical design. Also, the capital ⟨Ɡ⟩ itself is only used as a phonetic symbol, in contexts where the IPA is modified to include capitalization. Gorobay (talk) 15:44, 19 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. I don't know of any uses for this symbol other than in phonetics, so redirecting it to a list of letters seems unnecessarily convoluted. Glades12 (talk) 08:57, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not really understanding the purpose of these redirects. In theory, these are meant to refer to a sort of prefix of the subject of the target article, they could equally refer to the Czech Republic. Steel1943 (talk) 21:53, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete all if anything; why should these be any different than Earth- or human~? They're extremely unlikely typos, and anyone who makes them will soon find what they're looking for anyway. An anonymous username, not my real name 02:02, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

These two were the results of moves to modify their target's titles to the correctly spaced format in their disambiguators. They don't seem to be getting very many pageviews nowadays, so I'm not sure why we still need them here. Regards, SONIC678 21:52, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:FORRED. The target does not have affinity to the Arabic language. Steel1943 (talk) 21:40, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: With the Umayyad Caliphate and later Caliphates in Al-Andalus as well as the cities of Ceuta and Melilla's being Spanish adminstered cities claimed by Morocco whose only land borders are Morocco, I would argue there's an affinity between Spain and the Arabic language. TartarTorte 22:17, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per TartarTorte. I think especially for names of countries the bar should be set quite low for FORRED affinity (since there is no harm in keeping and potential loss of usefulness by deleting). A7V2 (talk) 00:21, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Does not seem like a plausible misspelling. Also, third-party search engines do not return any results of any webpages that use the spelling specifically. (In theory, the existence of this redirect could rationalize the need to create additional redirects using a lowercase Q instead of a lowercase A ... but that's WP:PANDORA.) Steel1943 (talk) 21:36, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: While it's a typo one could make, so is Frznce but that doesn't (and shouldn't) exist. TartarTorte 22:18, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, it is not a typo in the sense of hitting the wrong key, or not knowing how to spell it; it's what happens if you hit the right key but are using the wrong keyboard. I switch back and forth from the QWERTY and the AZERTY keyboards all the time, and this is a very common happenstance with me. "Frqnce" is exactly what you get if you forget to switch; I do it all the time. A very natural misspelling, and very helpful if we don't force the user to type a second time, just to get to the article they obviously wish to see. Frznce is no more likely to occur than many other unlikely misfires (from two rows away) that do not need a redirect here. Mathglot (talk) 00:43, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I completely forgot about AZERTY keyboards. Striking my delete and changing to keep based on AZERTY. TartarTorte 15:49, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target article, leaving the context unclear. Also, for what it's worth (in the event of retargeting suggestions), a Molotov cocktail is not called a "shot" in any context I can find. Also, this redirect is a {{R with history}} due to being an article created in 2004 that was WP:BLARed in 2006. Steel1943 (talk) 18:10, 3 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. There were multiple retarget suggestions, however there is no conclusion after two relists. As there was no support for the current target, retargeting to one of the suggested targets List of Ultras of Oceania, since the a target with mountains listed by country was not considered ideal. As the discussion was leaning towards creation of a List of highest mountains in Oceania, a subsequent retargeting should not be ruled out because of this close. Jay 💬 15:23, 11 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. See this recent RfD. Australasia is an ambiguous topic; moreover, the list of highest mountains would under no definition of Australasia be confined to just New Guinea. Therefore this redirect is misleading. J947edits 04:24, 18 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Seems kind of counterintuitive to pigeonhole readers to visit this section of an article when search results on Wikipedia for "Luminator" mention other subjects called "Luminator" that are not the subject which this redirect represents: A company that makes light-up signs. Steel1943 (talk) 22:59, 10 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep - I don't see a better target than this; most mentions seem to be related to the bus tech company and their displays - the company doesn't have its own article. If it is not notable enough to get one in the future, then I say keep this pointing here rather than the alternative, which would be DABifying with other, non-bus-related uses such as the video game clone and the sci-fi helmet element, neither of which seem particularly notable. That said if the company can support its own article then that would make more sense, as while the flip-dot display is its most prominent mention they also appear to manufacture various other display types. 193.37.240.169 (talk) 13:31, 17 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
