References[edit]

Adding references is how we ensure that content is valid. Without references, a reader can not easily validate information and there is no presumption of accuracy. See Help:Referencing for beginners and Help:footnotes. This is covered by the Wikipedia policy of wp:verifiability (WP:V). Please wp:cite your edits with wp:reliable sources (RS). Per WP:V unsourced content can be removed.

Regarding images, see wp:Images for tips, tricks, and tutorials.

The documentation for the wp:template and wp:infobox should be available on {{Infobox sports rivalry}} If you want to find examples, from that page, in the far-left column of the page click on Tools/What links here. Update on infobox problem[edit]

You had closed the {{unbulleted list}}, with two curly braces: "}}", but had not closed the infobox itself. I closed it. Also, you have two parameters which are not in {{Infobox sports rivalry}}:

  • | all-time = GB: leads 18-17
  • | regular season = GB: leads 14-13

I wp:commented both out (with <!-- hidden comment -->. If you use wp:preview, you would see some template error messages. Show preview can be helpful in preventing mistakes being saved and minimize server overhead. i.e. less information stored on the server. You can see my edit here. alt-right navigation template[edit]

Hi there,

Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! You may have seen notifications that I reverted some of your edits. This is because, while the subjects you added may or may not be associated with the alt-right, we need to explicitly make that connection in their articles (based on citations of reliable sources) before adding them to such a template. Even if it's obvious to everyone that the sorts of positions a person/magazine/whatnot takes are also positions of the alt-right, Wikipedia needs to base claims (especially claims that may be contentious) on reliable sources first. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 23:42, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your Teahouse question[edit]

Where did you see the map showing where Trump visited? No one answered your question and I don't know how this works, but if I knew where the map was, I might be able to come up with some answers.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:20, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I knew I had seen some information about Trump's visits. You received an answer here and unless you can do what was suggested, the map will not be changed.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 20:23, 11 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
WP:Teahouse/Questions/Archive 662#Trump trips has a more detailed response. I had not seen it earlier this week. This makes more sense than what you were talking about earlier, so I suppose the result you want could happen if there was consensus for your view.— Vchimpanzee • talk • contributions • 21:17, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

November 2017[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Sonic Forces. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive. Continual disruptive editing may result in loss of editing privileges. It is unhelpful to add POV commentary into a Wikipedia article. BruzerFox 23:50, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I reverted your addition of Clay Travis to the Template:Alt-right footer, as per ongoing discussions on the talk page, inclusion of people should only be done when they have extensive, intimately documented ties to the (loosely defined) alt-right, not merely "ties" or narrow interaction. WP:BLP issues also arise. --Animalparty! (talk) 22:08, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2017 election voter message[edit]

Hello, Vinnylospo. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited James Marsden, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Production (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Hello, I'm Bagumba. Your recent edit to the page Jeremy Lin‎‎ appears to have added premature information about a reported sports transaction, so it has been removed for now. The transaction is based on anonymous sources and/or awaiting an official announcement. If you believe the transaction has been completed, please cite a reliable source or discuss your change on the article's talk page. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. —Bagumba (talk) 09:56, 13 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced production companies[edit]

Hi. I wanted to explain why I reverted an edit you made to The Girl in the Spider's Web (film). The problem was that you didn't include a source for the addition of a production company to the infobox. Right now, we have a citation there to Variety Insight, Variety magazine's film database. Sometimes companies are listed on promotional material, such as posters or trailers, and it's not immediately obvious what role they may have had – financial investment, production, distribution, or maybe they're just a rights-holder. This is why we use citations to reliable sources to determine who the production companies are. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 02:35, 16 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Recent Edits - March 2020[edit]

Hi. This is a message to inform you that a number of your edits concerning an actor's character in Sonic the Hedgehog (film) have been reverted for failing to heed a small detail - according to the film's official credits, the character's name is not denoted as you had put it down. There is already mention of this on the relevant article's Talk Page, stating this. Please be careful not to use official details on characters from a known franchise, if the media format they are being portrayed in does not use such details. Discretionary sanctions notification[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from List of NBA playoff series into List of WNBA playoff series. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. Notice

The article Cowboys–Packers rivalry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There is nothing here to suggest an actual rivalry between these two teams. The fact that they are both teams in the NFL, even in the same conference, means they are bound to play each other on a semi-regular basis, but a rivalry needs some true enmity between the two teams, and none has been demonstrated here.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Request reason:

Hello, NinjaRobotPirate, this is the second time I have been blocked by you for "adding unsourced content", the stuff that I added that wasn't sourced, was already listed at the bottom of these films' pages when it comes to categories. For example, for the movie XXX, that is a Columbia movie because the Columbia logo is on the poster and was at the very start of the film. I think blocking on those grounds, in which it is very innocent and understanding is a bit too overboard and I was only going based on what was on the poster for the film as well as what is in the film as it is. I was wondering if you can please unblock me, I have been editing Wikipedia both with and without an account for over 15 years and it is one of my favorite hobbies. If you and I can come to an understanding, I would greatly appreciate it as I request to not be blocked for this anymore. Thank you again, please understand.

Decline reason:

Note that in the article Revolution Studios is sourced- you need a source for Columbia too. Logos can be used for a number of reasons and don't necesarily indicate that they were involved in the production of a film. 331dot (talk) 09:29, 16 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

February 2024[edit]

Information icon Before adding a category to an article, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. This includes adding cats that are not supported by the article content (you already know unsourced-content can lead to a block) and adding cats that are parents of other listed cats (MOS instructs us to only use the more-specific one). Overcategorization[edit]

Hello, to add to (and remind you) what DMacks told you above, please take a moment to read WP:PARENTCAT. In short, an article should be categorised under the most specific branch in the category tree possible, without duplication in parent categories above it. In other words, articles should rarely be placed in both a given category and any of its sub- or parent (super-) categories.

For example, you added the category "People from California" to Richard Nixon. However, this article is already included in the category "People from San Clemente, California," which is a subcategory of "People from California" (you can verify this by clicking up through the category tree). Because Nixon's article is already included within this subcategory, it doesn't need to be added to the broader parent category. I've noticed you've done this to many (probably 200+ dozens) articles in the last month. Please do not do this unless you have a specific reason for doing so. Thank you.
