DYK for Safe House Black History Museum

On 21 March 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Safe House Black History Museum, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that one of the buildings that house the Safe House Museum (pictured) was where Martin Luther King Jr. hid from the Ku Klux Klan on 21 March 1968, just weeks before he was assassinated? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Safe House Black History Museum. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Safe House Black History Museum), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Help?

Hi Valereee, I noticed you on the list of active admins, and one who hasn't been involved in the relevant article; I have filed a bit of a mess of a report at ANEW and was wondering if you could take a look. There may simply be a need administrator action; I am very tired at this point and need to disengage, so I do not have the energy nor focus to try to put this together for ANI. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 03:58, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

Looks like it was handled, sorry, didn't see this before! Valereee (talk) 16:47, 28 March 2024 (UTC)
Whether an admin I have had past conflict with should have taken an admin action in a conduct issue I reported is beyond my capacity to assess; the editor I reported has since continued to make what appear to be personal attacks directed at me, after I had warned them and encouraged them to stop. As I noted in the discussion where the latest comments directed at me happened, I am in the process of winding down my activity on Wikipedia; I did not mention this is health-related and for the benefit of my health. But I think in the ANEW report, I outlined what appears to be some WP:NOTHERE conduct, including gaming behavior with editing related to their proposed move that did not have consensus in a recent article talk discussion; they also appear to be pursuing a narrow interest in the Death of Nex Benedict; they also seem to treat editing in this 3-CTOPs article as a battleground, with little interest in working collaboratively (including in recent discussion, after being warned about bludgeoning).
And regardless of whether there is anything to do with the tools about any of that, I have very much appreciated your hard work over the years; I did have on my never-ending to-do list a request for help with changing the Draft:Female (gender) article title to Female gender, merging the history, (this is a redirect to Gender), which would permit merging and use of relevant content, including the research from the talk page, to various articles; there is a discussion pinned on the draft talk page about this. I realize a different target was discussed, but noticed the current redirect target for Female gender and the minimal content currently present about gender in the Female article. Given contentious topic, it seems least-controversial to maintain the current redirect; the goal with this request is to preserve the content and the talk pages with the research and discussion. Please let me know if you have any questions; I posted a retirement notice in my userspace but I am trying to sweep up before my extended wikibreak. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 01:05, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
And as a follow up, [30] the editor denies it is a personal attack to ping me with a comment that states e.g. that I am "repeatedly making a claim which is not true [...] I'm not sure if what's going on here is an ideological agenda or plain stubbornness" and to describe my comment as "just so bizarre to cling onto the minute detail which is not true", and to ask me to "Please use common sense." Beccaynr (talk) 01:48, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
A gentle reminder that admin-shopping is not allowed on Wikipedia. Thanks, Peter L Griffin (talk) 02:24, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
Peter L Griffin, this is a warning that hounding an editor is not allowed. Beccaynr (talk) 02:33, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
But to the contrary, I believe I have every right to object to you admin-shopping because you disagree with what a different administrator determined about a dispute between you and I. Peter L Griffin (talk) 02:36, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
I first asked for help before there had been any action on the ANEW report I filed, after I realized I may not have filed it in the most appropriate forum; at ANI, there is encouragement posted to look for an active admin, which is what I did. Because I had previously informed Valereee, then I followed up about your post-ANEW conduct on the article talk page and towards me, and offered some context. Beccaynr (talk) 02:48, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
PLG, this doesn't look like admin shopping to me. @Beccaynr, I'm out of town right now but I'll try to take a closer look when I get a chance; I'd only glanced at it and saw it was marked as closed. Sorry to hear about your health issues, and sorry Wikipedia may as a result lose your participation. Valereee (talk) 10:57, 29 March 2024 (UTC)
fyi, I attempted to participate in article talk again, including to try to share some thoughts on potential future edits to the lead, but this ended up requiring more energy than I have, so I am logging out again to rest. From my view, there appears to be some disruption continuing, e.g. reply to EvergreenFir after they said the restoration of this article talk comment was a bad revert; Sideswipe9th's usertalk about the same issue, continued bludgeoning in this discussion; this [31]. Thank you, Beccaynr (talk) 23:11, 30 March 2024 (UTC)
fyi, another ANEW report has been filed about PLG: [32] (where I mentioned this discussion) Beccaynr (talk) 14:04, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

Hello Valereee,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

Reminders:

Page renaming, please help!

Would it be possible to rename the page Director of Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security to Directors of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security or another appropriate page name? The page was originally created because I felt there were too many people listed under the "Agency executives" on the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security page. Would love to hear your feedback and thank you for all your assistance! JoeK2033 (talk) 05:52, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Hey, @JoeK2033...hm, are we sure this subject is even notable? All the sources are the government of TN except for a couple of announcements of the job changing over that are more about the person leaving the position than about the position itself. Not all government positions are presumed notable -- you can read more at WP:POLITICIAN -- and in particular appointed positions often aren't. Valereee (talk) 14:15, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
