Proposed blackout in protest of R.A.10175[edit]

Dear THE IMPERIOUS DORK,

Greetings!

As a Filipino Wikipedian, I hope you are aware of the passage of Republic Act No. 10175, also known as the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which was signed into law by President Benigno Aquino III on September 14, 2012. Currently, there is a discussion on the Tambayan, the noticeboard for Philippines-related topics, about a proposed blackout of the English Wikipedia in the Philippines in order to protest the passage of RA 10175, similar to the blackout against SOPA and PIPA held earlier this year. I feel that your input on the subject will definitely help in the discussion.

Please feel free to participate in the discussion at Wikipedia talk:Tambayan Philippines#The Cybercrime Prevention Act, and I hope your input will help the Filipino Wikipedia community determine which is the best course of action against this law. Similarly, we hope to get as much input from as many Wikipedians as possible.

Thank you and maraming salamat po!

Kind regards,

Tito Pao (talk) 02:20, 3 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Galaxy Fräulein Yuna, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.last.fm/music/Galaxy+Fraulein+Yuna.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) CorenSearchBot (talk) 10:21, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Galaxy Fräulein Yuna requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from https://vndb.org/v4556/chars. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Diannaa (talk) 14:13, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This is to dispute the deletion of Galaxy Fräulein Yuna. The contents of the original article was from the original Galaxy Fraulein Yuna, which was deleted also for a different reason (redirection to a deleted page). The source you have mentioned was actually the one which copied the article from Wikipedia, instead of the other way around. Kindly check and verify. Thank you. This has been done under section R3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from an implausible typo or misnomer. Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Antoine Nguyễn Văn Thiện a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Nguyễn Văn Thiện. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. kashmiri TALK 17:46, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pronoun gender[edit]

Regarding your changes to pronoun gender at Antonov An-225 Mriya Hughes H-4 Hercules, your reasoning is somewhat dubious. However, if you're going to apply the ships rule to these aircraft, you must follow all of the rule. Per WP:SHE4SHIPS, "Ships may be referred to by either feminine pronouns ("she", "her") or neuter pronouns ("it", "its"). Either usage is acceptable, but each article should be internally consistent and employ one or the other exclusively. As with all optional styles, articles should not be changed from one style to another unless there is a substantial reason to do." (Emphasis mine.)

As such, you really need to get a consensus first before making such changes to an existing style, per WP:RETAIN. Quite frankly, I don't see consensus changing to support this, but you're welcome to try. - BilCat (talk) 16:15, 25 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Deflategate[edit]

We've been over this a number of times in the past, the most recent iteration at Talk:Deflategate/Archive_1#Ballghazi. It was a specific political dig at the time of the Benghazi hearings, used by one specific reporter, which pretty much went nowhere. It certainly hasn't become common terminology, the name won't produce the immediate recognition that Deflategate does, so it doesn't belong in the lede - at most, a mention in the body of the article. Cut and Paste moves.[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you tried to move two pages, Pierre Nguyễn Văn Khảm and Paul Bùi Văn Đọc by copying and pasting their contents. Please don't do that; if a page needs to be moved you can use the move button in the More drop down menu. In those instances, where there was a redirect in place, you can ask for administrative help perfomring the move.

More improtantly, why were you trying to move those two pages? Reading the articles in question it seems like the name they were already under is the correct name, and anyone looking for them at the other name would have gotten there via the redirect anyway. Is there some reason you think they ought to be at the other name? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:43, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
