Hallo Meriel, I became interested in the college after seeing a mention of it in the ODNB article on Hannah Cohen (philanthropist), an article I created for WiR Philanthropists. I've found a few useful refs and now see that you've started a draft. Would you mind if I moved your draft to main space and expanded it? You'd still be there in the page history as the creating editor, of course.
I found a scholarly article about the college (Opitz, Donald L. “‘A Triumph of Brains over Brute’: Women and Science at the Horticultural College, Swanley, 1890–1910.” Isis, vol. 104, no. 1, 2013, pp. 30–62. JSTOR, www.jstor.org/stable/10.1086/669882 ), and also https://www.hadlow.ac.uk/about-us/history-of-the-college and https://www.hextable-heritage.co.uk/Remarkable%20women.pdf , which seem quite enough for a good start to the article - and it's already linked from 6 articles. Josh 'Ron' Kirby
Dear MerielGJones. Could you help please. My most recent book was published in November. It is referenced no 23 on my Wiki entry, and mentioned in the last paragraph. It contains a chapter on Josh Kirby and several illustrations of his work. He is quoted and mentioned throughout the book, and he was a significant artist. I cannot add a reference to my book as the Wiki Police will cite self promotion or COI. I wonder if you could take the time to add this reference to your original article? Hello, heard my name mentioned (er... linked to!). I'm afraid my magical qualities aren't tremendously reliable; I do manage to find a fair number of free images in general, but for images of specific people, my success rate is only 10-20%. I'm guessing this is about Susan Bickley? I did some searches of the usual places (Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, .gov sites), and couldn't find free images of her. However, I found a large number of images of British opera singers in one place at https://www.roh.org.uk/ and their Flickr account at https://www.flickr.com/photos/royaloperahouse/. It might be worth emailing them to ask whether they would be so kind as to mark them with a license we can use, such as https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/; if they do, we get images not for just this singer but presumably many others. If you happen to personally know someone at the Royal Opera House that would be best, but if not, if you like, I can try it - my success rate for such emails is maybe 20%, so not great, but not 0. --GRuban (talk) 20:55, 19 August 2021 (UTC)

GRuban Very many thanks for doing a more knowledgeable search for a suitable picture of Susan Bickley. Sadly I don't know anyone at the Royal Opera House, or anyone who might know someone there. Maybe the organisation could be persuaded that it fits with their public outreach activities to attract the widest range of people and also inspire children into opera? I have no experience of asking people to licence photos to be suitable for Wikipedia. Can I say - would you be prepared to have a go? As you mention, if you were successful, that could be great for many pages, and if they said 'no', well that's no change. Sorry - that is the easy choice for me and the difficult one for you. - Yes, they are indeed the same person. Also has 2 entries in Wikidata (Minnie Abercrombie (Q15994255) - with most of the data refs and also pages with this name in 4 other language Wikipedias; M. L. J. Abercrombie (Q6712823) with less info and just the M L J Abercrombie page listed). I will merge into the Minnie Abercrombie page since that exists in other Wikipedias as well. My interest lies in plants and microbes, rather than animals. However, I also occasionally check if topics in the news that I think are interesting are covered in Wikipedia. Babakina anadoni was so pretty that I thought it should be included. Thank you for adding a taxonbar to the page about it; I've not noticed this command before and it is something I can use in future. Happy holidays! Regardless of which holidays you choose to celebrate, here's hoping they're enjoyable. As we reach the end of our first six months, we can be proud of the progress we've made to date – particularly considering the tiny size of our task force. We now have more than 4,100 articles, categories, templates and redirects under our watch. We've created a sizeable glossary (with more entries being added every day), whittled down the project's cleanup listing, and added biographies about a number of prominent lichenologists. To date, we have one Featured Article and 23 Good Articles. Clearly, there's plenty more to do, but we're off to a solid start. Here's to a productive new year! |

Happy new year! We head into 2023 with plenty of work to do. We're missing articles on a handful of lichen families, scores of lichen genera and thousands of lichen species. Dozens of important lichenologists are "missing" too. We need to check or update the taxonomy of hundreds of existing taxa articles. Many articles about basic lichen structures and functions are either tiny stubs or badly in need of referencing or updating. There's certainly enough to keep us busy for a good long while! Here's to a productive year ahead. |

Kazamzam met last month's challenge and provided an updated reference for the Cladonia squamosa article – which indicated a significantly larger world range for the species than had been previously listed. Nice job! This month, we're looking for someone to replace the dead reference in Ramalina fraxinea (defunct since April 2018!) with one (or more) which corroborates the information that the old reference did. The editor who meets this challenge will get public kudos in the next newsletter. | ||

The article Llinos Medi Huws has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Proposed deletion: This is in a minority of council leaders who have an article, Ynys Mon/Anglesey is not a major population centre or major council, there is very little information here worthy of an encyclopedia page and now the individual in question is running for parliament (as of Sept 2023) I fear it will become a propaganda tool. There are AFAIK well established precendents for not having pages on candidates unless they are already noteworthy and IMO being a council leader of a small council (even though it is a principle authority) does not meet that bar
