November 2008[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to KylieX2008, did not appear to be constructive and has been removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Please discontinue making the same edits, repeatedly, to the same article. Your edits have been reverted by four editors and at this point, it is considered vandalism. As explained by other editors, there is no extreme changes from the posted setlists to justify a fourth setlist. Please adhere to the neutrality policy when editing an article. Also, please provide a detailed edit summary and/or add an entry to the talk page to explain/justify your edits. If you continue to make these edits, you will be reported and consequences may follow. December 2008[edit]

Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Please do not remove sourced content from articles such as Eurovision Song Contest 2009. If you disagree with the current wording and sources provide a source of your own. Changing the name of a source's title to fit your edits is highly unethical and will not be put up with. Grk1011/Stephen (talk) 23:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

March 2009[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from 2005 Jeux de la Francophonie. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the text has been restored, as you can see from the page history. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you vandalize a page, as you did to Miss Universe 2008, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Angelo De La Paz (talk) 03:26, 10 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Kylie tours[edit]

I'm glad someone supports it. Like I said, tours often change outfits and rarely mix the set list so it is the same tour. KylieX2009 is not even a real names. It is a fan name. ---Shadow (talk) 21:51, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Flag of Pohnpei.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Flag of Pohnpei.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:39, 13 December 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 03:39, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

January 2010[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add content (particularly if you change facts and figures), as you have to the article International co-productions of Sesame Street, please cite a reliable source for the content you're adding or changing. This helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Christine (talk) 06:06, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to 2010 Winter Olympics, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Please make use of the sandbox if you'd like to experiment with test edits. Thank you. Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest[edit]

Thank you for your recent edits to Malta in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, however they have been removed for several reasons. Unlike Eurovision, the winning country of Junior Eurovision does not automatically host the following year's contest. The host country for JESC is decided by the steering group of the EBU. Also the trivia section is a violation of WP:TRIVIA and has also been removed. Wes Mᴥuse 00:21, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Firstly, please remember to start a new thread next time your commenting on someone's talk page. Placing it on a different thread confuses things. Secondly, provide a source to verify that Malta will host JESC 2014. The only source in existence is Oikotimes and they are not reliable enough, which has been noted many times by WikiProject Eurovision. Wes Mᴥuse 00:32, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

FIVB Volleyball World Championship[edit]

What origins of information that Russia will hosts 2018 World Championship? IkariSindzi (talk) 21:29, 5 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I see in the Russian Volleyball Confederation Offical Site in English in this news!

http://www.russiavolley.com/5656/ary-graca-2018-mens-world-championship-should-be-held-in-russia/

De Boni 2007 (talk) 01:11, 08 October (UTC)

    • Do you speak English as good as you think? Or may be you read that news selectively? Let's read it again together: "WC should be held in Russia...", "Whilst Qatar and Argentina also claim on the list of the Men’s World Championship in 2018, but I believe that the tournament will be held in Russia." And by the way, Russian Volleyball Confederation is not exist. This organisation named Federation.

2015 Pan Ams Wiki Project:[edit]

Hi,

We are just 3 months away shy of the 2015 Pan American Games. There are still a thousand of pages that need to be created for the event. I can’t do this alone so I’m soliciting your help for this task. Please feel free to send me any messages regarding it.

Best regards,

Thanks,

My time is pretty short too. I would like you to help me for some pages of 2015 Pan Am articles like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canoeing_at_the_2015_Pan_American_Games https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cycling_at_the_2015_Pan_American_Games https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diving_at_the_2015_Pan_American_Games https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equestrian_at_the_2015_Pan_American_Games

You use the same template from previous version (ex: 2011 Pan Ams) and you change the name/number etc. Thanks in advance for your help.

Best regards,

I noticed you elevated Brazil to advancing to the next round, this is not true yet. If Argentina beats Brazil, then germany beats South Korea, then Argentina ties South Korea, followed by France beating Brazil and Germany beating DR Congo... then you will have a three-way tie for third between ARG, KOR, and BRA. In the head-to-head ARG will have 3 points, KOR 2 points, and BRA 1. Not going to happen, but still possible.18abruce (talk) 05:16, 10 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Beach volleyball at the Summer Universiade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Non-free image use[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to a page, specifically Davis Cup, may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:14, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

File:Pacific_Oceania_flag.png is licensed as non-free content which means that each use of it on Wikipedia is required to meet all 10 non-free content criteria listed in Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. One of these criteria (more specifically one part of one of these criteria) is WP:NFCC#10c, which states that a separate specific non-free use rationale is required to be provided for each use of a non-free file. This rationale is to clearly show how the particular use of the file meet all 10 of the aformentioned criteria. This file currently only has a non-free use rationale for Pacific Oceania Davis Cup team and Pacific Oceania Fed Cup team. If you believe that non-free use is justified for the Davis Cup article, then it is your responsibility to provide a non-free use rationale for that use per WP:NFCCE. However, be advised that the use of non-free images in tables or infoboxes in such a manner as flagicons is almost always never allowed per WP:NFTABLES because such usage is considered "decorative" and lacking the contextual significance required by WP:NFCC#8. Please don't re-add the file to the article again without adding the required non-free use rationale. Continuing to do so is going to eventually lead to an administrator being asked to intervene. If you have any questions about non-free use, feel free to ask them at WP:MCQ or WT:NFCC. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:27, 3 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kylie Minogue, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Celebration (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Edit to Pan American Games[edit]

In reviewing a recent edit you made to Pan American Games you added information to a table that did not have a source or reference and I reverted the edit for that reason. Looking past that I saw you made several edits in the same manner to the page, then noticed how experienced you were as an editor and felt I should communicate this to you at a minimum to give respect to that. I did not revert any additional edits as normal but rather would ask if you could add a reliable source to these edits so we can see it too. WP:SAYWHERE No disrespect or hostility direct or intended.

And putting Latvia in as an direct qualifier in the men's tournament? I removed vandalism and you put it back, can you be more careful please.18abruce (talk) 21:21, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The added information and sourcing helps thank you. However, please, once again, refer to the official source for who is qualified. Russia is officially qualified and a lot can happen before 2022. The information and sourcing you have added will help readers to draw their own conclusions, so thank you again. However, one conclusion that no one should draw is that Latvia would replace Russia, the next best non-qualified team is Slovakia. And removing Russia would likely change the groupings as well. Inserting Latvia for Russia makes your edits appear as vandalism, and I do not believe that is your intent.18abruce (talk) 21:05, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, regarding your recent edits at Miss Universe 2021,

Japan's name at the official website and at her social media accounts is Juri, not Yuri. The fact that you're changing her name is a form of misinformation already.

And regarding Slovakia's name, while they indeed are competing as Slovak Republic on their sash, WP:COMMONNAME is still to be followed in accordance to Wikipedia policy so Slovakia should be followed. I have seen you doing this edit as well in other Miss Universe articles in Wikipedia so I think it must be caught into your notice. Same goes for South Korea despite competing as Korea.

Edit: Please also refain from adding original research as well as unnecessary trivial info at the article.

I hope you understood. Milesq (talk) 10:53, 10 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I understand that English may not be your first language, so I want to start a discussion here before raising your account on the Administrator's noticeboard, which will be my next step if I receive no reply. Your recent edits, to the 2026 Commonwealth Games article and many other related Olympic and Commonwealth articles, have introduced large amounts of poorly written text. They are also not sourced, which makes them extremely hard to edit to determine which facts are true or not. You have also introduced many inaccuracies, particularly with regards to the Australian games and Australian geography. I understand you may be editing in good-faith but rewriting large slabs of text without sourcing is still considered disruptive editing, even if you are doing so with good intentions. Please refrain from doing so.
If you want to make constructive edits that don't receive warnings and reverts, I encourage you to make small, sourced changes (adding your own references to demonstrate that the information is accurate) and not to rewrite large segments of text to your preferred wording. Disruption[edit]

Hi. I see you've made four edits on this, your own talk page, a page where a ton of editors have reached out to you, particularly about your command of English. Somewhere you said English is not your strong point--well, there are things you can do about that or conclusions you can draw from it. Perhaps just as concerning is your complete lack of edit summaries: almost all your edits are wholly unexplained. If edits are problematic and you don't explain what you are trying to do, that's doubly disruptive, and it's high time you start working on one or both of these issues. Thank you. "Turkey" vs. "Türkiye"[edit]

Hi! I saw you used the name "Türkiye" as the name of the country generally known in English as "Turkey" in your recent edit.

Q: Why don't you use the name Türkiye, the correct name for this country?
A: Because the English-language Wikipedia has a WP:COMMONNAME policy. We use names for countries and places that are the names commonly used for them in English, regardless of what official organizations use. Technically, this kind of name is known as an exonym. For example, we use the name Germany, instead of the native endonym Deutschland, and we use the name Japan instead of the native name 日本.
Q: But the Turkish government, U.S. State Department, and United Nations all use "Türkiye", so it must be correct.
A: Indeed they do. But WP:COMMONNAME is not authority-based, but usage-based.

Notice that this does not apply when we are quoting a literal name in Turkish; for example, the newspaper is called Türkiye, not Turkey. To do that would be hypercorrection, and we don't do that. Nor do we mangle the name into English in direct quotations, including titles of documents, nor in URLs. But it does apply for all uses in Wikipedia's own voice in the English language, including article titles (so the capital is Ankara, Turkey, not "Ankara, Türkiye")

If or when that general English-language usage changes (as has happened in the past with place names such as Mumbai and Beijing), the same WP:COMMONNAME policy implies that the English-language Wikipedia will necessarily also follow suit. So far, that hasn't happened.

This has been discussed many times, with the same result every time because of the common name policy. If you'd like to discuss this further, please take it up at Talk:Turkey. However, for the reasons given above, there is currently a moratorium on further requests for name changes to the Turkey article until 1 December 2023. — The Anome (talk) 13:28, 3 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
