Question for administrator[edit]

Hello, I am requesting help from an administrator for a recent incident of a new user that has been consistently using sockpuppetry and persistently trying to pin unsubstantiated information on me. Please see, Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Umbrellazebra where the user likely has created a second account User:Applehornet and say that I'm bullying her (not true). If you could kindly review her contribution, upon my disengagement from her talk page in accordance with WP:BITE, she continued to spread false claims about me on Teahouse and pretended to be a new user (by involving User:Bovineboy2008). I need help in resolving this. I think this matter is too trivial for WP:ANI as I understand admins have better things to do than disputes like this. I just hope if someone can post on her talk page to warn her from such disruptive behaviour and sockpuppetry is not tolerated from Wikipedia. May I ask for admin intervention in this? Thank you.--Kazuha1029 (talk) 15:52, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You should let the SPI play out. If it's taking too long, then you can take it to WP:ANI, but I don't think it's appropriate for a single administrator to intervene.--Bbb23 (talk) 17:55, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Takeshi Kaneshiro nationality[edit]

Hey Jjj84206, I saw your message in the edit summary for this edit at Takeshi Kaneshiro where you said "not sure what's your issue for eliminating Taiwan which is his birth place and his nationality. Please do not vandalize this article further.". I thought I'd drop you a message to let you know why I'll be removing his nationality from the infobox. Per WP:INFOBOXNTLY: nationality/citizenship "should be avoided when the country to which the subject belongs can be inferred from the country of birth." In addition, per {{infobox person}}: nationality: "Should only be used if nationality cannot be inferred from the birthplace." Removing nationality from the infobox is not vandalism since it is in accordance with Wikipedia guidance. If you disagree with the guidance, you might want to take it up at Wikipedia_talk:Manual_of_Style/Infoboxes. Or if you think the guidance should not apply to this particular article or is being misapplied in this case, then open a discussion at Talk:Takeshi Kaneshiro to seek consensus for including nationality in the infobox. Thanks. 108.56.139.120 (talk) 16:42, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

that's not an accurate interpretation of the guidelines. In accordance with {{infobox person}}: May be used instead of |citizenship= (below) or vice versa in cases where any confusion could result. Should only be used with |citizenship= when they differ. In this case, Takashi is a very special case where he is pretty much Taiwanese, but holds Japanese citizenship. His situation is confusing to most editors and readers, therefore, nationality must be used in order for readers to reflect this fact because they differ as per the guideline. Secondly, the infobox template further stated under citizenship "Country of legal citizenship, if different from nationality. Rarely needed.", the citizenship section here is "RARELY USED", if anything, the most accurate presentation format should be "Taiwan, Japan" as nationality, which is what I initially proposed. Finally, Takeshi's career and identify pretty much revolves around Taiwan. He speaks fluent Mandarin and Cantonese, and his acting credits are mostly Chinese/Taiwanese films, in addition to mandopop albums. Simply listing Japan as his citizenship sends a biased message as well of his career achievement thus far. As such, I have reverted your edit as per Wikipedia guideline. However, if you want to show both Japan and Taiwan as nationality and delete citizenship, that would be something I'm willing to accept. Thank you for your contribution.Jjj84206 (talk) 16:53, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'd rather discuss at Talk:Takeshi Kaneshiro where other editors can participate and benefit from the discussion. I've already started a section there. 108.56.139.120 (talk) 17:22, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Replied you there. I think we should be very cautious on the biased users. The users such as Umbrellazebra and Fulongtaiwan Official are clearly created solely to promote Takeshi and are likely the same person. I tried initiating conversation with them and they simply made edits without explanation. I think in this case, consensus should only be formed based on users with certain amount of edits across a variety of subjects and only confirmed accounts. See Wikipedia:Sockpuppetry. Jjj84206 (talk) 17:34, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
OK. I appreciate the heads-up about the other editors. Thanks. 108.56.139.120 (talk) 17:53, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Chinese Food Articles[edit]

Thank you for your help on Bing Guo. I don't want to pester you endlessly, but I've made a list of food articles that were also created by the same editor that don't demonstrate any notability and made a post at the Wikipedia talk:WikiProject China. Your edits to PwC section regarding Evergrande[edit]

This is regarding your deletion of the entirety of my addition to the PwC page regarding their auditor relationship with Evergrande. Yes, I am pointing to potential audit failure but since Evergrande has not yet been declared bankrupt, can only point to anecdotal evidence of the absence of objectivity from their auditors, PwC - the investigation from a third-party forensic accounting firm, and their failure to make timely payments on their debt as leading indicators. Yes, usually audit failures are detected much later than the first leading indicators like this. Having been an ex-auditor, I understand auditors get paid by their client's management to do their audit - and that is exactly where the conflict starts!

So let me know how you propose I reflect that sentiment? MKamat talk — Preceding undated comment added 18:02, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The edit that you made [1] wasn't clear as to what was "controversial". The latter update (notice I didn't revert) was written more clearly where it stated what PwC should have done (which is to have expressed Evergrande not a going concern), but did not, and thus under investigation. Your edit was solely the fact that PwC expressed unqualified opinion in the past (so?), and "concluded that Rmb150b of asset writedowns were needed" (so? how does that have to do with PwC?) The explanations you just offered to me are fine, but you didn't write that in your initial edit. It was not clear what you're trying to say.

As an ex-auditor, you should also understand that accounting firms get sued all the time. Many of the PwC controversies there are outdated and very immaterial for a global firm with 45B in revenue. I'll clean up the controversy section some day. It's also important to note that as editors we need to be unbiased. It's interesting to me how the PwC "controversy section" is much larger than the other big 4, and I can tell some of these edits are based on competitor editors. I'm not saying you are, but just a note. If you'd like to help I'd encourage you to help me clean up the outdated "controversies". I'm sure as an ex-auditor you know what I mean by materiality and neutrality. Thank you.Kazuha1029 (talk) 19:03, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Cfi comments[edit]

Please do not remove content like that and state that it is vandalism. It is not vandalism.

I am trying to be objective. I feel the comments on CFIs page are misleading and should be addressed rather than just deleting them. What would you suggest? I will request a third party opinion if appropriate Seniorzk (talk) 01:31, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You are a new account and the only edit you made was to attack CFI throughout. If anything, YOU should not have reverted my edit and should have engaged on Talk Page. This article was in a good state UNTIL you made the vandalism edit. The edits you made was biased and made no sense. Criticism/Misrepresentation would imply that a lot of people think like you did - which is clearly not the case. You also misunderstood what the statement meant. Like I said, CFI stated, "CFI is accredited by BBB", at no point did they say "CFI's courses are accredited by BBB, which is your main argument that it's misleading. You are the one that is trying to apply your personal opinion and pretend it's legit. Once again, do not make further vandalism to Wikipedia.Kazuha1029 (talk) 01:37, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Furthermore, "you feel the CFI page are misleading", and your first reaction is to add a section calling it "misrepresentation"? You need to engage on the talk page, and if something doesn't look right to you, ask people for help, vandalism like you did is not the solution. I also just explained to you why that statement was truth - CFI is indeed accredited by BBB. They said CFI, not CFI's courses, was accredited. This was clearly an oversight by your part. You misrepresented, and then went ahead to vandalism the article. I gave you a warning. It's all good. I know you're a new user so this is just a reminder. But don't do it again. Thank you. Shave ice hatnote[edit]

The IP user hatnote added to Shave ice is correct based on the where the Ice Gola directs users and the information on Ice pop that mentions it as another name. If this redirect is going to the wrong location, then the redirect should be fixed, but the hatnote seems reasonable with the current target of the redirect. —Ost (talk) 16:10, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the Ice Gola to point to Ice pop. —Ost (talk) 16:19, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your contribution and your explanation. I see you have reverted your own edit. You may have been confused with the redirect. I have no problem redirecting Ice Gola to Ice Pop as they are similar (eaten on a stick), but it made no sense to redirect Ice Gola to shaved ice as they are not similar. Hope this makes sense. - Kazuha1029 (talk) 16:40, 5 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
