Delete page

Hi, I saw you have reviewed my page www.M800.com, I was accidentally press publish button, and can't find the way to remove this page. If I want to delete this page, can I re-create this page in the future? Is there any way to save my page as draft? I'm still new in editing wikipedia page and want to know more about how to done this. Thank you

Hi, @Darryl0304: You're welcome. Yes you can recreate it at any time. But I will advise you to read Guide to writing article first. And yes, you can start new draft in your userspace by clicking here and writing the article there. Yes. It was a redirect since 2009 due to lack of sufficient content to merit a standalone article. It is only being converted to article by IPs and newly-created accounts throughout its history.   • Profiling statistics for an abuse filter tell how often edits match the filter. The statistics for the abuse filters were reset after 10000 actions. Wikis can now decide to reset it more or less often. They can file a phabricator task to do so. [1]
  • Advanced item Abuse filters will now treat integers and floats more precisely. For example, 5/2 was rounded down to 2 but will now be 2.5 and 2*4 will be the integer 8 and not the floating-point number 8.0. Division values are the only ones changed. For the rest only strict comparisons (=== and !==) will be affected leaving the values unchanged. [2][3]
  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 17 April. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 18 April. It will be on all wikis from 19 April (calendar).

Hi, @Razorblade76: Because this is English Wikipedia. Your Italian "User" prefix (Utente:) will not work here because the namespace is not defined a such. If you are looking for your "userpage" see User:Razorblade76 and note the difference between "User" in English and "Utente" when you switch to Italian Wikipedia. Hi. Since the user gave us some annoying problems on the Italian Wikipedia (ended with an indefinite block, despite numerous attempts to recover him), could you please keep an eye on him? Hi, Wikibatt: It was not deleted. I moved it to Draft:Chadi Nachabe for you to work on. Because in it is current state, it will be deleted in mainspace. It has zero source and poor prose. I followed the reasons that lead and noticed that he was breaking rules. He is new to this however that was wrong and unacceptable . Moot Technologies is a local startup in our region. Our intention has been to set up knowledge about this startup. I'm better in wikipedia, if i knew all this would have come to the recent occurrences i would have taken up this tasks myself. You earlier said he is your your younger brother. Why did you change it to "colleague"? How can you forget whether somebody is your brother or colleague? Does this makes sense?. Hmm. Don't rush in calling it a mistake. It is not. I still believe /s'/ is the legitimate and grammatically correct version. And never doubted that. I only don't see the worth of debating it now, which will eventually lead to questioning the validity of 8-support RfC, which you initiated. You're also wrong above: "all modern English style guides" is plain hasty generalization. I have seen that the move has now been undo by another user. This will only lead to unnecessary back and forth moves. I hope stronger evidence fom reliable sources (not style should be use not RFC votes or style guide from one particular entity, noting that English has no central regulating authority like how Académie française regulates French. –Ammarpad (talk) 21:20, 17 April 2018 (UTC)
Your mistake in this edit was to say it's grammatically incorrect (What you're suggesting is grammatically wrong. S cannot be after apostrophe whenever the noun ends with letter "s".); it's not incorrect – it's a style issue, and WP has one regulating authority on that, based on consensus of editors: WP:MOS. As for the small RFC, I was surprised, too, after taking it to WP:VPPOL, which usually attracts tons of opinions; but we had already had a pretty robust discussion (see Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Archive 198#Apostronot), so maybe people saw little reason to argue after that. Reference Link Quickly Removed

Hello Ammarpad. Please help me to understand why my reference link I have tried to replace with a dead link has been removed so quickly and marked as spam. We had no intention of putting spam link in the article and only were trying to provide value to the article.

I have reviewed the Wikipedia Spam guidelines fully and the only thing I can think is because there is an external link on our page to a corporate site we work with. If I remove that link would that make it acceptable for you? If it is something else please let me know.

Hello Ammarpad. You are correct that my last 7 links were for dead links. The last 5 were for the same dead link on the same article. I didn't understand why it kept changing back so I kept resubmitting it. I have now learned about the "talk feature" and never plan to keep resubmitting like that again.
I hope you can see that I have not been trying to spam any links. I was just trying to get the same dead link corrected. I didn't know it was considered spamming to replace a dead link with a good link. Did I understand that part correctly?
Moving forward in my future edits could you please help me to understand why the websites I used were considered promotional websites. I thought the content was very relevant to the article. Fat Nick - Deletion

Hey Ammarpad,

I see that you deleted the page I created for Fat Nick, that my sources were not reliable and the page was too promotional.

Many of the sources I cited that were removed were reputable rap/hiphop news publications.

Can you give me some insight on to what was wrong with these sources, and what sources would be more appropriate?

I used the Envy On The Coast wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Envy_on_the_Coast) that I formerly updated in 2017 as my guide for creating this page for fat nick, and I would like to create a page that holds up to Wiki's guidelines, that isn't promotional, but strictly informational.

Submission declined: Dunlap Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics

Hi Ammarpad, I'm trying to understand why my submission has been declined. The response said: "The proposed article does not have sufficient content to require an article of its own, but it could be merged into the existing article at David Dunlap Observatory." But the reason I am creating this article is because the Dunlap Institute is not associated with the Dunlap Observatory; the institute and the observatory are two distinct entities. And the article about the institute is required because when a search is done for the "Dunlap Institute", the user is given the observatory's article.

Also, with regard to "does not have sufficient content", my understanding is that I can't just write about the institute--that I have to reference other sources. And so I have tried to adhere to that. But I find passages like the following, about the Perimeter Institute, which does not give a source; I take that to mean someone just wrote that passage. Can I do that?

"Perimeter Institute offers a number of planned courses each year, including cross-listed programs with universities and mini-courses given by PI faculty, associate faculty and visiting researchers. The courses are made available to all students enrolled in surrounding universities. The popular courses are attended by students from University of Waterloo, University of Western Ontario, McMaster University, University of Guelph, University of Toronto, York University, and other centres."

Can you provide me with some tips or feedback on how to make my article non promotional. I am finding it difficult because I wrote the article from a non-biased point of view. The article is about Helios Voting, so I only included true facts. Also, I stated in the heading "Security" that there are loopholes in its security. Hello, Li.andy. I understand it may not be your intention, but actually, the article in its current form is only promotional in nature. Sections like "Mission", "How Does Voting Work?" which are explaining the mission of creating the software and how to use it in plain How-To sytle are entirely not encyclopaedic. In addition, it generally lacks independent sources. All it depends on is authors website (who himself doesn't have article) and couple of embedded PDF documents. In its current form it is unencyclopedic. As newly invented software it must have multiple reliable and third party independent sources, if there are none or insufficient then that means it is not yet notable and subsequently not suitable for Wikipedia. –Ammarpad (talk) 04:05, 23 April 2018 (UTC)

OK, I have moved it to Draft:Helios Voting for you to work on. Because it is in draft space where articles are incubated to meet reasonable standard. When you're done, you've either of two options: You cn click "submit for review" which is in the draft so that an independent reviewer will review it and move it to mainspace if found ready. Or, you can do that yourself, see Help:How to move a page. But I will advise you to not rush. If you rush in moving it back without improvement it is very likely to be deleted, take your time also to read WP:WEASEL WORDS and this guide on creating article. @Igorbogojevic95: Yes, the easier and new-user-friendly way to rewrite your article is to use Article Wizard which will take you through important steps and then give you space to start new article. Also, yes, promotion of whatever nature is not allowed here. See WP:NOT policy on that and even more.   • Advanced item We are migrating wikis from Tidy to Remex. Because of a bug the 250 wikis which do not yet use Remex were switched on 23 April. This is two months early. This meant that pages with broken wikitext showed wrongly to readers. The bug was undone the next day. You can help fix broken wikitext to avoid this problem when your wiki switches. Tidy will be removed on all wikis before July 2018. You can follow the process on Phabricator. [10]

  • You will be able use CodeMirror in the 2017 wikitext editor on all wikis. CodeMirror helps with syntax highlighting. It has previously been a beta feature and only available on wikis with scripts that are written from left to right. [11]
  • When an administrator blocks someone they will have a calendar they can use to choose when the block ends. This is to make it easier to pick a specific date. [12]
  • Advanced item You can soon turn on the Performance Inspector in the Editing section in your preferences. It shows information about the performance of pages. @LaserLegs: I hope you didn't misunderstood my reply. It was just meant as a light humor. I knew you didn't mean, it was not notable at all, but your merger attempt (via AfD!) now have the unintended effect of reinforcing the standaloness of the article. Had that AfD not occurred, the stub can be easily merged when the media hype is over, but that's not even possible now, courtesy of that AfD. This is generally something I understand to any deletion discussion about RECENTISH article (not ARBPIA only) where several links can be easily found effortlessly. Hence my comment. What's wrong again with Tribe Nation page?

Hope you are doing fine.

I was wondering what was so wrong in the Tribe Nation draft page that you had to reject it.

It must be noted that the page was rejected before under the same grounds and I reworked on it with the help of one of the editors in Wikipedia. She helped me in skimming the contents line-by-line and in the process, 70% of the original content was skimmed.

I request you to be reasonable and tell me what do I need to do so that the article can pass the criteria of Wiki editors.

Gimme a fair chance of pushing the article out of the draft.

Hi, I am a bit confused about what happened. You nominated the page Overleg gebruiker:OSeveno for speedy deletion, which executed before I could even see what it was about. I am not aware I created such a page on the English language Wikipedia. The text 'Overleg gebruiker' would refer to the Dutch language Wikipedia. Could it possibly have anything to do with the several failed attempts to log in to my account today, from a new device? If so, I can inform you that I didn't do that myself, making those failed attempts to hack my account, which I have never experienced before. Dunlap Institute article

Thanks for your feedback, Ammarpad. I will move the disclosure as you instruct. The other reviewer rejected the article, saying another article already existed. I'm guessing they were referring to the article about the David Dunlap Observatory. I don't know if this is relevant for you at this point, but I clarified with the other reviewer that the article is needed because the Institute and Observatory are two distinct entities with no operational, organizational or financial connection whatsoever. We merely share the name "Dunlap" for historical reasons. The Observatory is run by the City of Richmond Hill with the help of amateur astronomers for public outreach. The Institute was established by the U of Toronto in 2008 as an independent astronomical research institute. Dunlap astronomers do not use the Observatory whatsoever as it hasn't been used for research in years. The Institute's article is needed to minimize this confusion. For example, a Google search for the Dunlap Institute will give correct results including our websites and related sources; but it also gives the Observatory's article in the sidebar. @DunComm. I am sorry for two things. First, for this belated response, second for your situation which unfortunately I cannot do much to offer any help or have no authority for that. I am not aware of the either subjects (The Institute and The Observatory) to make any informed decision why they should be in the same article or not, that's why I suggested resubmitting so as to be reviewed by another reviewer, and now you see, the answer is the same as what I have said, that's they should be merged.
Then since you have declared your connection with the institution, I think my only advise now is to just leave this issue, if it is notable one its own right one day a volunteer will pick it up and write article about it, that is how all these millions of article came about. –Ammarpad (talk) 22:05, 6 May 2018 (UTC)

I don't know what kind of citations you would like to see there and there are numerous available so that is why I ask. The subject is also known for having a famous boyfriend but I left that out in article creation and it is a little "stubby", but that was just my choice as an editor because I wanted to keep the article about the subject person. @Interqwark: Yes. The ongoing requested move on Talk:Spyro the Dragon (video game) now supersedes everything. You cannot redirect the page now.
