Or should it be "found sunken" – ?? — Sca (talk) 22:35, 24 April 2021 (UTC)

@Sca: looks like you're right. "Sunk" as an adjective would have meant a deliberate sinking. Anyway, someone changed it after me already so it's a moot point now. CHeers  — Amakuru (talk) 12:48, 25 April 2021 (UTC)
Yeah, as in the phrase "a sunken ship" – a ship that has sunk or has been sunk. Sink, sank, sunk, sunken.
But now they're saying it broke into three parts,[1] so we're back to "wreckage," I guess. – Sca (talk)

RMTR question

Did you intend to remove my request for Kendrick Extrication DeviceKendrick extrication device? — BarrelProof (talk) 22:44, 29 April 2021 (UTC)

@BarrelProof: ah, no I didn't intend to. It must have been a mix up, because I got an edit conflict when I initially tried to remove the entry that I had done. Apologies for that. I have now carried out the move of Kendrick extrication device, as you requested. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 06:13, 30 April 2021 (UTC)
Thanks! — BarrelProof (talk) 06:15, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

It would have been preferable if you had joined (or checked) the discussion at Talk:Mount Meron crush before making such a bold move. JBchrch (talk) 14:31, 30 April 2021 (UTC)

WikiCup 2021 May newsletter

The second round of the 2021 WikiCup has now finished; it was a high-scoring round and contestants needed 61 points to advance to Round 3. There were some impressive efforts in the round, with the top eight contestants all scoring more than 400 points. A large number of the points came from the 12 featured articles and the 110 good articles achieved in total by contestants, as well as the 216 good article reviews they performed; the GAN backlog drive and the stay-at-home imperative during the COVID-19 pandemic may have been partially responsible for these impressive figures.

Our top scorers in Round 2 were:

  • Botswana The Rambling Man, with 2963 points from three featured articles, 20 featured article reviews, 37 good articles, 73 good article reviews, as well as 22 DYKs.
  • New York (state) Epicgenius, with 1718 points from one featured article, 29 good articles, 16 DYKs and plenty of bonus points.
  • Republic of Venice Bloom6132, with 990 points from 13 DYKs and 64 "In the news" items, mostly recent deaths.
  • Hog Farm, with 834 points from two featured articles, five good articles, 14 featured article reviews and 15 good article reviews.
  • England Gog the Mild, with 524 points from two featured articles and four featured article reviews.
  • England Lee Vilenski, with 501 points from one featured article, three good articles, six featured article reviews and 25 good article reviews.
  • Sammi Brie, with 485 points from four good articles, eight good article reviews and 27 DYKs, on US radio and television stations.
  • Ktin, with 436 points from four good articles, seven DYKs and 11 "In the news" items.

Please remember that DYKs cannot be claimed until they have appeared on the main page. As we enter the third round, any content promoted after the end of Round 2 but before the start of Round 3 can be claimed now, and anything you forgot to claim in Round 2 cannot! Remember too, that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (except for at the end of each round, when you must claim them before the cut-off date/time). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article nominations, a featured process, or anything else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed (remember to remove your listing when no longer required). Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Wild page moves

Apparently you warned User:Chelston-temp-1 about moving pages in a reckless manner. They are moving pages by the hundreds and causing a lot of trouble. Thanks,  Mr.choppers | ✎  15:22, 5 May 2021 (UTC)

Congratulations, Amakuru! The article you nominated, Sutton United 2–1 Coventry City (1989), has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Gog the Mild (talk) via FACBot (talk) 12:07, 6 May 2021 (UTC)

Prep queue

Hi Amakuru: Prep queue 3 doesn't appear to have cleared properly. Is that something that usually happens automatically? (i.e. should I ping Mandarax to see if he can figure out why it hasn't happened?) MeegsC (talk) 17:38, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

@MeegsC: ah apologies, that's my fault. The prep clearing, and updating of the "next prep" counter is not an automated task, it's something the promoting admin generally handles at the same time as filling the queue. I just got distracted after I'd done the queue in this case, and forgot to circle back and complete the process. I've now gone ahead and done the necessary, so it should be all good now. Thanks  — Amakuru (talk) 17:59, 7 May 2021 (UTC)
Excellent. Good to know, and thanks for sorting it out! Have a great weekend. MeegsC (talk) 18:30, 7 May 2021 (UTC)

Opening of my talk page

Please, if you can say to other editors that if they want to warn me about something they must send the messages not to my email, but in my talk page.--EnLarissais (talk) 14:00, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

@EnLarissais: I can't really control whether other editors decide to email you, unfortunately. But in general you can ignore such emails if you don't want to read them, as any formal warnings on Wikipedia would have to be posted to your talk page to be valid. That said, I notice you've put the Email user topicon at the talk of your talk page, which suggests to people that you want to be emailed. I suggest you remove that if you don't want emails. You also have the option of removing your email altogether if you want, which would make it impossible for anyone to email you. Click on the "Preferences" link at the top of the screen and adjust the email settings there. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 14:30, 8 May 2021 (UTC)

No need whatever to apologise, but thank you. I was well aware of the crash of breaking glass in the greenhouse when I complained. I made a bigger deal of it that was needed because I was embarrassed at having drawn Buidhe into the squabble. So I offer my own apology in return. --John Maynard Friedman (talk) 13:33, 9 May 2021 (UTC)

Moving pages without consensus

Hello Amakuru. Neel.arunabh has moved the page at their will despite being reverted a while ago. Earlier they edit warred over move [2], [3] despite reaching out to them on talk page, until I was forced to open an RM to go back to the status quo.

I do not intend to edit war, therefore it is my request to move the page back to Tholi Prema (2018 film) and ask the user to open an RM. Regards -- Ab207 (talk) 20:54, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for a swift response! -- Ab207 (talk) 21:09, 13 May 2021 (UTC)

Banned user page

Hi there. Was this absolutely necessary and do you feel it is explicitly required by Wikipedia:Banning policy#User_pages? I can see that is says the user page should be updated with the appropriate notice, but I can't see how it says that existing content must be removed. Apologies if I have misread or misunderstood – it wouldn't be the first time! Francis did do a lot here (notwithstanding the rest of the saga) and it seems a pity – to me, YMMV! – to remove it completely. What would you think of restoring his user page and putting the ban notice at the top? Please note: I am not here for a confrontation or to cause trouble – it's a sincere request for you to consider. Cheers DBaK (talk) 20:43, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

@DisillusionedBitterAndKnackered: thanks for your note, and to answer your question, no I don't think it was necessary. In my experience it's usual to blank a user page but as you say there's no rule to that effect, so I've restored the old content of the page under the banner.

And believe me, I take absolutely no pleasure in having to ban editors in this way. I've not had much to do with Francis myself, and have of course seen them around doing useful work across the project over the years. But it's clear from the discussion there that things had gone too far, and that from very prominent and respected editors too. I hope there might eventually be a way back to the project for Francis, but it's obvious that some major changes in behaviour would be required. Thanks, and all the best to you.  — Amakuru (talk) 23:11, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Thank you so much for the very kind and reasonable response. And yes, absolutely, re the banning. I do get it, and I followed the whole sad tale with a sort of mix of resignation and horror. And yes, much much, on your I hope ... – all of it. Thanks and all good wishes DBaK (talk) 07:36, 15 May 2021 (UTC)

support what you did, and Ched said ;) - please keep leaving user pages of banned users as they are, just adding the tag. That's information useful to readers who may want to know about the background. Consider undoing the blanking when you see it elsewhere. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 23:23, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Missing cite in Albert Academy

Back in 2016, you added short cites to "Caulker-Burnett 2010" but no such source is listed in the bibliography. Can you please add? Also, suggest installing a script to highlight such errors in the future. All you need to do is copy and paste importScript('User:Svick/HarvErrors.js'); // Backlink: User:Svick/HarvErrors.js to your common.js page. Thanks, Renata (talk) 22:39, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

@Renata3: ah, thanks for the spot... I had completely forgotten that I ever contributed to that article! I have found the book source where the cites came from, and added it. Looking at it now it seems that it's a self-published book, so ordinarily wouldn't be allowed, but it's apparently by Imodale Caulker-Burnett and talks specifically about the actions of her family so is probably better than nothing as a primary source for that material. Re the script, I did install that at some point so everything flags nicely for me now, but I probably didn't have it in place back in 2016. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 23:05, 17 May 2021 (UTC)

Regarding DYK review

Hi, I would like you to review Template:Did you know nominations/Culture of Ladakh, an DYK hook which was approved by me, but there were concerns raised about Conflict of Interest, as I had also edited the article, but only after I started reviewing and to add some content and remove content that was directly copied from sources an other Wikipedia articles.

Kindly again review the hook as you are not as you are not associated with the article, which would be more appropriate. Thanks! Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 06:50, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Sigs:

You closed it seconds before I did, FWIW the text of my close was going to be: "As has been correctly pointed out, the guideline on custom sigs is not enforced widely (or evenly). There is not a consensus (and unlikely to gain one) that would enforce it against a specific editor who has a non-offensive signature without a strong community consensus on the enforcement of the guideline in place. For reference: previous discussions in the archives about signatures where an editor has been forced to change their sig have usually revolved around colour choice/flashing, length, and political messaging. A discussion has been opened here to discuss solutions." Only in death does duty end (talk) 09:00, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

@Only in death: @Does duty end: (😊) well well well, that sounds not wholly dissimilar to what I wrote!  — Amakuru (talk) 09:03, 25 May 2021 (UTC)

I think your current signature might have a typo. Perhaps you meant to use "User:Amakuru" (which would render as Amakuru) rather than "Amakuru" (which renders as Amakuru). — BarrelProof (talk) 21:18, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

@BarrelProof: I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. My signature is coded as:  — Amakuru (talk), which is I think just the default, other than that it has a dash and two nbsp at the beginning. I haven't touched it for many years. Is there actually a problem? Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 21:27, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
Yes, on a closer look, it seems that the error was not yours. It appears here and now therefore appears at Talk:Revolt of 1173–74, but it did not appear in your original edit here. I guess I'll just fix that. — BarrelProof (talk) 21:31, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
@BarrelProof: ah yes, I see what you mean. If I had to guess, I'd say that Anthony needed my username for the ping above my comment, and accidentally cut-pasted rather than copy-pasted it.  — Amakuru (talk) 22:04, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

POTD

Today's POTD blurb was written in October, before I started my verifiability drive! The one I have been working on today, Template:POTD/2021-06-14, needs a bit of attention with regard to templates whose use I do not understand. Actually, it looks quite good if you click on that link, but not if you look at the June archive. Can you help? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 13:06, 28 May 2021 (UTC)

@Cwmhiraeth: ah, that makes sense re the verifiability then. Good work on keeping them well-cited since then. I'll take a look at the June 14 one now. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:08, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth:  Done, I think I've fixed it. It seems the individual 1 to 10 template files each had one too many closing </noinclude> tags in them. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:18, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Something very strange has happened today. If you look at this page, you will see that the bot created the protected version at 22:00, 27 May 2021‎, and Ravenpuff, who is not a sysop, edited it several times thereafter, introducing an error. Am I missing something? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 05:30, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: the reason for why a non-admin was able to edit the template is that the protected POTD templates don't actually have direct full-protection themselves. The reason they get protected is that they are transcluded on to the master pages, which are Main page itself (for today's POTD) and Wikipedia:Main page/Tomorrow, which covers tomorrow's POTD. Because those are protected, their templates are also protected on the correct days due to cascading. But at any other time, the daily templates aren't protected. Thus Template:POTD protected/2021-05-27, the one for two days ago, can now be freely edited by anyone. If you look at the history of the template for the 29th, you'll see that Ravenpuff made all the edits in question before the end of the 27th, when that template was not yet part of Main page/Tomorrow. As an aside, they made a further error when doing the update, which I have now fixed - the template POTD row should never be used directly on a POTD, as it says in its instructions, it should always be substed. I think this is because otherwise the "recently featured" entries are automatically generated based on the prior days' unprotected templates and it was open to a vandal to insert malicious text on to the main page if they fiddled with those templates. In general, when editing what's in the protected template, I don't touch the formatting generated by the bot, we should only ever touch the text and the definition/size of the image itself. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 07:43, 29 May 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. I do have vague memories of that being explained to me before, but I can't begin to understand the second error you mention. It's a pity that POTD is so keen on curly brackets! Take "{{POTD {{{1|{default}}}}" for example, what on earth is its function? Don't bother to answer, I wouldn't understand, but I can on the whole learn to work with such templates, mostly by copying the format of earlier POTD pages. Murder of Mollie Tibbetts

Hey Amakuru. We all occasionally do things without being quite as careful as we should; I certainly am not without guilt, so please just take this as a gentle reminder (BTW, years ago I wrote a list of cleanup procedures for moves, at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions#Moving procedures, which might be helpful). Anyway, though I moved the page after the verdict, you already self-reverted so that's a non-issue; but note that I also acted to retain the history of the redirect when I did the move, as it had some non-trivial (relatively speaking) matters included. That got deleted when you performed the move indicating you didn't check its history (I've already fixed this), so just be careful to check redirects for any page history that should be retained. (If you're not already well aware, the move procedures page I linked previously have instructions on what to do when you do find a "major" page history at the redirect, that should [or sometimes MUST because of copyright issues] be retained.) Best regards--Fuhghettaboutit (talk)

@Fuhghettaboutit: indeed, and in fact I always check the history of pages when I'm moving them over a redirect, I'm well aware of the need to preserve history. But in this case there was nothing of interest attribution-wise in the redirect, just a pointless history of previous redirect changes, which are all better derived from the move log anyway. So your decision to do a round Robin move was incorrect in this case. Particularly as it would have rendered the redirect history at the "wrong" location. So the way I did it, with a straight deletion, was the correct way and I will be leaving it like that. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 23:23, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
As I said above "(I've already fixed this)", and it was indeed a fix, resulting from a second incautious action on an already incautious move – something I never would have said if your response was not this defensive and intemperate. Good day--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:37, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
@Fuhghettaboutit: the only intemperate and rude response was yours, coming here accusing me of not checking the page history when in fact the error was yours for moving a redirect unnecessarily. Did you ever consider that maybe I do know what I'm doing, and double check your facts first? And now you've compounded that by undeleting the deleted revisions. To be clear, there is no useful content that needs preserving whatsoever at the revision history of that page, and those revisions should have been deleted with the original page move per our usual procedure for pages that only have redirects in their history. Perhaps I should just follow your username and "fuhghettaboutit" though, since it's not ultimately that important. Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 23:46, 28 May 2021 (UTC)
Amakuru, the series of events are not complicated and speak for themselves. And since they are what they are, take a good hard look at the propriety of how this started, followed by the tone and content of my post, your reaction, and especially your post above. Pretend you're a third party being presented with the facts and then reading this conversation. If that doesn't make you do a double take in chagrin, I know nothing I can say would matter. I don't intend to respond further. I have better things to do, and I'm sure you do too.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:27, 29 May 2021 (UTC)

Hi, As an admin who's around what do you think? Johnbod (talk) 17:45, 30 May 2021 (UTC)

Queue 7

Amakuru, when you promoted Prep 7 to Queue 7, the set did not include the two special occasion hooks for June 5 that need to be included in it. Is there any chance you can promote them into that set, since it needs an admin to make changes to a queue? If not, please let me know and I'll ping the rest of the admins in the hopes that one of them can do it.

Before it was pulled back to the special occasions area because we went from one to two sets a day, the flag hook had been the lead hook in its prep. Perhaps the current lead hook in Queue 7 can be placed in Prep 6 or Prep 7 to make room for it, but I'll let you decide what is best to do. Thank you very much for all you do at DYK! BlueMoonset (talk) 15:52, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

@BlueMoonset: sure, I'll take a look at that. Thanks for letting me know, and thanks for the thanks... the same dues and more go to you of course, as a stalwart of the project!  — Amakuru (talk) 16:13, 2 June 2021 (UTC)

Queue 7 switch

HI Amakuru, as I saw you were online, would you be able to switch the hooks mentioned in here to Queue 7 for 5 June please? These were special occasion hooks that were (with the flag in the pic slot) but got put back when we went back to 12 hours and have now been overlooked by the set builder. Thank you today for Sutton United 2–1 Coventry City (1989), written together, introduced: "Some have described this as one of, if not the, biggest upset in English "soccer". Top-division Coventry "Sky Blues" City, riding high in the First Division and winners of the oldest soccer football cup in the world just two years before were quite literally humbled by a bunch of "bricklayers, assistant bank managers and insurance clerks" playing for non-League club Sutton "Amber and Chocolates" United. ... a pleasure for the footballing world who love this kind of "David beats Goliath" story. And it's true too!" --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:15, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

@Gerda Arendt: I saw some wise words from SlimVirgin just yesterday, when I was looking into the question of page ranges in citations. She said: Example text. We all need to think in this way, about whether what we're doing benefits our readers first and foremost, and also other editors. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the music festival! I was supposed to be playing in my first concert in around 2 years last weekend, we have been practising a very nice programme with Symphony No. 3 (Beethoven) and Piano Concerto No. 17 (Mozart), but I had a family engagement so had to miss the concert unfortunately.  — Amakuru (talk) 18:50, 29 June 2021 (UTC)
I enjoyed the opening - first live concert of 2021, and next planned is 1 July, Le Concert Spirituel, same piece as in the DYK ;) - SlimVirgin said wise words also in the RexxS arbcase, - if only they had listened to her ... See Impact on her talk. I'll ask arb candidates if they would have listened. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 19:02, 29 June 2021 (UTC)

Picture of the Day

For Bastille Day, July 14th, we have Turgo's map of Paris for POTD. However the template is much too clever for me! For a start, I have not told it to select one of twenty images at random, but it has done that anyway. It was my intention to use Template:POTD/2021-07-14, the complete map, as the default POTD, with a link from there to each of the sheets. But the template has other ideas and has scuppered my plan. I would like to have my arrangement because the caption for the complete map explains what it is, whereas the captions for the subpages have not repeated all that information. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 11:31, 16 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Cwmhiraeth:, I'm not sure I'm understanding the issue. When I look at Template:POTD/2021-07-14, it seems to just show the single image File:Turgot map of Paris - Norman B. Leventhal Map Center.jpg, and it sounds like that's what you want it to do. Where are you seeing it giving you a random one? Cheers  — Amakuru (talk) 13:54, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Well, here in the July archive, where it doesn't show the complete version of the map at all, but starts with the statement "Chosen at random from a selection of nineteen; all alternatives shown below". Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:16, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: ah, I see what you mean. I think that won't be a problem, the issue is due to the logic in the Template:POTD/Day template. If you hit edit on that template, you can see it has some conditional logic which checks for the existence of subpages numbered /1, /2, /3 etc. If it sees them, it displays the message about having a "random" one and then displays all the individual templates. That shouldn't affect the display on the main page though. If it's really causing a problem on the July planning page, you could consider giving the sub-pages a different schema, like /a /b /c or something but otherwise just remember to have a look at WP:Main page/Tomorrow the day before and check that the protected version looks correct.  — Amakuru (talk) 21:46, 16 June 2021 (UTC)
Looks like it's time for me to code yet another layer of complexity into Template:POTD/Day... — RAVENPVFF · talk · 07:17, 11 July 2021 (UTC)
@Cwmhiraeth: Well, after much wrangling, I've got the archive page to state "This multiple POTD consists of one principal picture and nineteen subsidiary pictures", and display the principal picture along with the nineteen subsidiaries – see the result here. (The underlying archive templates have frankly reached a mind-boggling level of intricacy that I can't remember what half of the code even does, despite having written much of it myself...) — RAVENPVFF · talk · 17:16, 12 July 2021 (UTC)
Thank you. I didn't know it was going to cause such problems. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 18:16, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

Can you please remove the redirect for the War in Iraq (2014–2017) so we can move to that name? The article’s date was changed to 2013 with 0 consensus, and most news articles say the war begun in summer 2014 with the beginning of the northern iraq offensive. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/31/world/middleeast/iraq-orphans-isis.html Ridax2020 (talk) 11:44, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

I provided more sources in the RM of the article Ridax2020 (talk) 11:44, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

@Ridax2020: the RM you mention hasn't been concluded yet, so it would be premature to start removing redirects at this stage. The RM will in due course be closed by an independent uninvolved editor, and if some action is required with respect to the redirects, then the closer will carry it out at that point. As an involved party, you should not be the one closing the discussion or moving the article. CHeers  — Amakuru (talk) 11:49, 28 June 2021 (UTC)

Please also remember that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them (one contestant in round 3 lost out because of this). When doing GARs, please make sure that you check that all the GA criteria are fully met.

Administrators' newsletter – July 2021

News and updates for administrators from the past month (June 2021).

Guideline and policy news

  • Consensus has been reached to delete all books in the book namespace. There was rough consensus that the deleted books should still be available on request at WP:REFUND even after the namespace is removed.
  • An RfC is open to discuss the next steps following a trial which automatically applied pending changes to TFAs.

Technical news

  • IP addresses of unregistered users are to be hidden from everyone. There is a rough draft of how IP addresses may be shown to users who need to see them. This currently details allowing administrators, checkusers, stewards and those with a new usergroup to view the full IP address of unregistered users. Editors with at least 500 edits and an account over a year old will be able to see all but the end of the IP address in the proposal. The ability to see the IP addresses hidden behind the mask would be dependent on agreeing to not share the parts of the IP address they can see with those who do not have access to the same information. Accessing part of or the full IP address of a masked editor would also be logged. Comments on the draft are being welcomed at the talk page.

@Sca: 🙄🤦‍♂️  — Amakuru (talk) 14:42, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
thanks for that. Just the push I need to I unwatch list errors. I tried to do the right thing, I tried to be respectful. Fuck it. —Floquenbeam (talk) 14:46, 21 July 2021 (UTC)
@Floquenbeam: I don't doubt that you did what you thought was right, that's why I posted some raised eyebrows here in direct response to Sca, rather than saying anything negative at ERRORS. But then again, I also did what I thought was right and I was was also a bit pissed off to be reverted. If the TFA blurb is using terminology that isn't used anywhere in the limited article, then something has gone wrong somewhere in my book. I've never heard that TFA is supposed to be a dumbed down version of the FA itself. But hey ho. I don't have any animosity towards yourself, and I hope you won't stop correcting errors on my account.  — Amakuru (talk) 15:00, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

Ah, just came here to apologize for my apparent inability to read. Your comment here was -- of course -- completely correct. I read the TFA blurb first, so when I read the actual article I suppose my brain autocorrected it to match the blurb. Mea culpa. Anyway, by the time I saw your reply it seemed like the discussion was thoroughly off the rails. And either way I was too busy trying to fit my foot in my mouth to type a reply. So my apologies for my small role in this dust-up, and my regrets that it happened it all. I hope all is well. Ajpolino (talk) 01:44, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

@Ajpolino: thanks very much for your message, and no need to apologise really. As you say, it all got a bit out of hand over what was really quite a trivial matter, but it wouldn't be the first time that's happened on Wikipedia! And in the end, the matter was settled by someone who didn't participate in the ERRORS "debate" at all, and either everybody was happy with that, or they didn't notice. Ah well, all the best and happy editing to you...  — Amakuru (talk) 09:32, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

DYK for 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Final

On 22 July 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Final, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. In regards to the message on my talk page

Yes it is.... And this person (KevinMCE) continuously attacks, makes fun of, talks down to other people and he never, ever treats people in a polite or civil manner and it is very annoying to have someone constantly erase the hard work of editors instead of trying to help, contribute or make any effort whatsoever to fix the edit, or offer constructive criticism.... Also his "opinion" is ironclad fact and the only things that are "relevant" are what he says is relevant and to be perfectly honest with you I'm sick of his attitude so I said something about it to him. I appreciate your reply and that's fine if you want to take any talk segments down, I just do not like arrogant people, who are mean for no legitimate reason and would much rather remove and erase content rather than be constructive and helpful Raleigh80Z90Faema69 (talk) 01:08, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Congratulations, Amakuru! The article you nominated, Coventry City 2–2 Bristol City (1977), has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Gog the Mild (talk) via FACBot (talk) 00:06, 24 July 2021 (UTC)

2017 ACN final

Dear Amakuru, Hi. Thanks for improving 2017 Africa Cup of Nations Final article, but you've unfairly removed a very good section named "Records" cause 'obscure and not very noteworthy' which I disagree with it!--Maher27777 (talk) 10:02, 28 July 2021 (UTC)

Soccer

Hi... I wondered if you could check the soccer information on the soccer player who had 2 heart transplants? Don't worry if not. It's on my long term plan. Whispyhistory (talk) 13:22, 29 July 2021 (UTC)
