Revision as of 08:26, 27 November 2022

To report an error in content currently or imminently on the Main Page, use the appropriate section below.

  • Where is the error? An exact quotation of the text in question helps.
  • Offer a correction if possible.
  • References are helpful, especially when reporting an obscure factual or grammatical error.
  • Time zones. The Main Page runs on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC, currently 20:19 on 27 April 2024) and is not adjusted to your local time zone.
  • Can you resolve the problem yourself? If the error lies primarily in the content of an article linked from the Main Page, fix the problem there before reporting it here. Text on the Main Page generally defers to the articles with bolded links. Upcoming content on the Main Page is usually only protected from editing beginning 24 hours before its scheduled appearance. Before that period, you can be bold and fix any issues yourself.
  • Do not use {{edit fully-protected}} on this page, which will not get a faster response. It is unnecessary, because this page is not protected, and causes display problems, because this is not a talk page. (See the bottom of this revision for an example.)
  • No chit-chat. Lengthy discussions should be moved to a suitable location elsewhere, such as the talk page of the relevant article or project.
  • Respect other editors. Another user wrote the text you want changed, or reported an issue they see in something you wrote. Everyone's goal should be producing the best Main Page possible. The compressed time frame of the Main Page means sometimes action must be taken before there has been time for everyone to comment. Be civil to fellow users.
  • Reports are removed when resolved. Once an error has been addressed, determined not to be an error, or the item has rotated off the Main Page, the report will be removed from this page. Check the revision history for a record of any discussion or action taken; no archives are kept.

Shi Jingtang: Almost the entire article is cited to the near contemporary Old History of the Five Dynasties (974) and the slightly later Zizhi Tongjian (1084). Modern scholarship must be used, I doubt the article can be improved in time. Happy to look at any suggested replacement - Dumelow (talk) 08:10, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

1660 – At London's Gresham College, Robert Boyle, John Wilkins, Christopher Wren and other leading scientists founded a learned society now known as the Royal Society

The presence of Boyle, Wilkins and Wren is not mentioned in the article. I've rescued the dead link at the end of the paragraph on its founding but it supports only the last sentence, I've tagged the rest as citations needed. Disappointing for a Good Article - Dumelow (talk) 08:17, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
There is a separate article at Gresham College and the formation of the Royal Society that deals with this in more detail. But the sourcing is equally inadequate but it does list the 12 original members. Schwede66 20:11, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Gregorio Perfecto birth date not cited - Dumelow (talk) 08:23, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've had a look and can't find anything authoritative. What I did see is that the first volume of Justices of the Supreme Court of the Philippines and the bios in there contain birth dates. Volume II, which deals with the period where Perfecto was a judge, isn't on Google Books. Schwede66 20:00, 26 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

"American swimmer Caeleb Dressel won the most gold medals at the games with five", I couldn't find this stated in the source cited. I don't doubt that its true but it should be verifiable - Dumelow (talk) 07:36, 23 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I've placed a failed verification tag in the article; maybe that'll get some action. Schwede66 18:00, 25 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
