I agree that these should be prevented, but I have doubts that blacklisting will be effective. Most of the additions were not of active links, instead being of the format "Press rrttyy.com for RapidShare.com. R, T and Y keys are together on keyboard. Use Ctrl + Enter Keys for www. .com."[2].
I'm wondering if an edit filter would be more effective in this case - but I'm uncertain if it's a good use of that tool or not. There's also a list of many more of these redirect shortcuts at http://keyboard-shortcuts-keys.atoall.com/ (link intentionally disabled - copy/paste).

See also, and further reading sections are out of control; but it seems to be too much to clean up for me, too ... and in the lists I've seen there is always one or another book, article or link that I do consider appropriate for "further reading".

The forums certainly fail as reliable sources and should be removed. The one-or-two blog posts I glanced at from the site may qualify as news blogs - at least the ones I saw seemed to be well sourced to news agencies (not sure if that applies to all the blog entries from that site, may take a case-by-case review). It might also be useful to get a current COIBot report to see if there's any patterns to the linking, the existing report is a bit dated. Get in touch with Mike.lifeguard on meta. There are hundreds of Chinese knockoff sites out there spamming us one domain, one Wikimedia project and one throwaway user name at a time. He's started tracking this stuff down. Your lot here looks like more of the same. I watch spam that hits some of our smaller projects and they're taking one or two spam sprees a day of this stuff from China. I don't know about the stuff you've found but stuff I've seen has been added very disruptively, taking out chunks of existing text in articles unrelated to the junk the spammer's pedalling.
One way to find related websites is to look at site pages such as "About us", "Privacy", "Shipping", "FAQ" etc and identify unique Chinglish sentences like "Dear friends we abide by the principle of the interests of customers coming to the first both pre sales and post sales". Google search for that same sentence to find 20-30 similar sites.[12][13] I recommend preemptively blacklisting all of them at Meta.

  • Can someone take a look at this IP's additions to Talk:Maria Morales. I have reverted their edits and warned the IP on their talk page, but I am concerned that the wording they used suggests (to me anyway) that their edits could be part of an advertizing campaign. Is there a way to track down whether the external links they added, were also added elsewhere in en.Wikipedia perhaps by a different IP, but using a similar M.O? Looks like a pretty clear conflict of interest issue to me, and a lot of canvassing. I absolutely support removal of links unless a long-term trusted editor objects, and support blacklisting if canvassing continues. OhNoitsJamie Talk 00:06, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

Terry Ananny Spammers

This spammer is now trying spam information about Terry Ananny by adding links to various art-related sites that contain Ananny's work. I've requested studio737.com and shopunicef.ca be monitored by XLinkBot.

What can be done about YouTube spammers?

Along with one or two of the spammers listed in the main report above, this spammer is promoting Terry Ananny via links to videos from YouTube account "painterscircle."
