The people behind this added one link to the arm wrestling article (I've removed it since) and now are complaining via OTRS about the existence of this page and how it shows up in search engines. The report is an on-wiki record of what is also available via other means anyway, and the information from many of these reports is used in examining spam/coi records. If there is error in generation of the report (accidental overlaps or something similar), then there is no objection against deletion (though that is best done by a bot operator, as also the rules have to be removed; otherwise the report would be regenerated on re-addition of the links to wikipedia). For 'good' reports I am still reluctant to remove, as the requests to remove serve the same target as often the link additions do: wikipedia is not an advertisement service. I added a link to OnSameHost.com to our LinkSummary template. This new link will identify what other domains share the same web server. It's similar to the domainsdb.net link; the domainsdb.net site is temporarily down.

We have severe problems with that database, the load is just too high by running the linkwatchers alone. They can't keep up. There is some database optimisation in progress, and Versageek tries to work on some upgrades to the machinery. If we get a database search up after that is a second question, we could try having a selection of people to have access to the MySQL database. This was spammed to many pages by the userID, then after the ID was blocked, the IP came back and started undoing the reverts. Since this pair was so aggressive in spamming, I've blacklisted the domain on the MediaWiki Blacklist.

I saw this link being spammed recently. When I looked briefly for further spamming, I didn't find any, but did find that the link has been used in Wikipedia for a very long time [2] and has it's own article, Filmsite.org. There's some obvious cleanup per WP:EL to be done on the external links that could be made into internal links. Where did you originally see it being spammed? One criterion for spam isn't simply what site it is, but where the links are being added. If the contributor is stretching for places to put it, then it's spam on those articles, even if it might be quite appropriate in other places. --Infophile (Talk) (Contribs) 23:55, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
I've added the ip that was spamming it. He's also spammed bitsavers.org. The example you listed was not spam, and since this is one of the most highly regarded film sites, and most popular, on the planet it will normally be an excellent external link. The one link did have some editotializing text, but that has been corrected. 2005 (talk) 03:40, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
I've rewritten my not above so it's not so easily misread. The example I gave is not spam, nor did I claim it was. I identified the spammer as 207.47.11.2. The example shows the earliest addition I found of the link. Sorry if you were confused there.

I think assessing the general suitability of a site is the sort of thing that our subject based WikiProjects can be ideal for. I'd see what Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films thinks of it as reliable source and an external link. And try and devise a response (preferably one that they can actively use in an ongoing way) that supports their work to improve our film articles. Cuban artists

Awhile back Template:User added a large number of articles with the EL of http://www. Cubancontemporaryart.com/. They were removed as unreliable spam since it is a payperview site, the author didn't indicate they were a source, and stated that the identities of the artists of this island (Cuba) needed to be known. Betacommand cleared out all links from the articles and myself, Bipolar/anon IP and another editor went through proding and improving most of the articles. Today

started adding the link again [3], [4]. Since I'm now an involved admin, I can't do anything like mass-reverting or blocking, so I'd ask an uninvolved user/admin to look into it. Thanks. MBisanz talk 07:26, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

700+ links -- this is bigger than Suite101.com and the links are just as unreliable. Ultimately all these links need to be evaluated and probably removed. For something this widespread, I suggest posting a note at WP:AN asking for help and input. Based on my experience, there is likely to be some squabbling as links get removed and it would be helpful to build a consensus beyond a few anti-spam volunteers here. Also, there seem to be fewer WPSPAM participants lately (and I'm certainly not pulling my weight being gone so much recently); WP:AN can be a source of cleanup help, too. Finally, I strongly recommend against turning a bot loose on removing the 700 links. Monitor bots are great but link cleanup bots ... well a cleanup bot can get the whole removal job done in about 30 minutes, leaving hours and days available for the ensuing wikidrama about mindless citation deletions.

I went through a bunch of AC links a few months ago and deleted all but two. I stopped because there were just so many links and with little definite conversations as to N or RS, I didn't feel comfortable going on what might be considered a "crusade" if I was the only editor removing links and content/references.
I consider AC to be only a minor step above Ezinearticles or other article submission directories...contributors churn out articles with little/no fact checking, identification (many authors are anonymous or use pseudonyms), disclosure (i.e. paid links, affiliate links, self promotion, etc.) or editing beyond what seems to be current AC keyword/SEO strategy. Frankly, I think Suite101.com or About.com to be more N/RS; editors/writers go through at least some sort of initial training or editorial review before being able to post articles.
