This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Comics and animation. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Comics and animation|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- Note that there are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove links to other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Comics and animation.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.

- Delete per nom. Looking at incoming links, he didn't seem to win any awards, and according to the archived ComicBookDB, he wasn't a consistent contributor to any titles other than the short limited series already highlighted before he... had to be replaced. I'm guessing this was created due to him going to prison for allegedly murdering his wife in 1988. I think that this falls under WP:ONEEVENT, and that event was not even significantly covered. It took me a while to dig up that link up somewhere outside archived forum posts. Recommend deletion. -2pou (talk) 01:15, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

- Redirect to List of Cars characters. Article is all cruft, most of it unsourced. Extensive BTS content doesn't automatically make a subject notable, while there's no independent coverage or reception. 💥Casualty • Hop along. • 07:26, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect to List of Cars characters - There isn't much in the way of non-primary sources on the character that go beyond trivial mentions or basic plot summaries. I am not finding enough significant coverage that would allow them to pass the WP:GNG on their own. Most of the actual sources being used in the Reception section are not even about the character, and many of them do not even mention them - that strikes me as being pretty heavy on WP:SYNTH. Rorshacma (talk) 02:11, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect per above. I found an article on the real Hudson Hornet driven by Herb Thomas, but it merely mentions the film. Most of this article is WP:PLOTSUMMARY. Conyo14 (talk) 04:46, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Redirect to the specified page per above comments. This is consistent with other character redirects which have significant roles in the film plots, such as Forky, Hopper (A Bug's Life), Boo (Monsters, Inc.). Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:26, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Keep or merge with his section at List of Cars characters in the spirit of WP:PRESERVE. --Rtkat3 (talk) 16:33, 15 May 2024 (UTC)

Granted that I don't know what reference sources would discuss this Christian animated children's show but I didn't find anything in my online search that wasn't either user-generated content, product-focused (promotion) or sites that allowed users to view episodes. I found no secondary sources or SIGCOV. One site called it an "award-winning" show but I never could locate what that award was. Given the detail of content about the characters, I think this article mainly serves as a nostalgia page for IP editors to write about a series they might have watched when they were younger. Dare I say it? I don't think it is notable or encyclopedic. Liz Read! Talk! 22:50, 10 May 2024 (UTC)

I'm not sure if the subject of the article is notable. There are at least two newspaper articles about this series, in the Leominster Champion and in the Telegram & Gazette, however, both are local sources (Worcester County, Massachusetts), and both articles are from August 2006. Hero Envy is also present in the book Internet Comedy Television Series, 1997-2015, where about 130 words are dedicated to the summary of the plot/characters, and about 75 words of additional commentary (mainly about the spin-off). The article also cites Nerd Caliber, but that doesn't seem like an RS. Perhaps I've missed something, though. toweli (talk) 08:19, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

- Keep per the significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. The subject passes Wikipedia:Notability (web)#Criteria, which says:
SourcesKeeping in mind that all articles must conform with the policy on verifiability to reliable sources, and that non-independent and self-published sources alone are not sufficient to establish notability; web-specific content may be notable based on meeting one of the following criteria:
- The content itself has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent of the site itself. This criterion includes reliable published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, magazine articles, books, television documentaries, websites, and published reports by consumer watchdog organizations except for media re-prints of press releases and advertising for the content or site or trivial coverage, such as a brief summary of the nature of the content or the publication of Internet addresses and site, newspaper articles that simply report the times at which such content is updated or made available, or the content descriptions in directories or online stores.

The book notes: "Four off-the wall friends (J.D., Orson, Wally and Dekker) and how they deal with the situations they encounter as they just go about their daily activities. J.D. acts like a three-year-old but is actually 30 and lives for babes, beer and cartoons. He is also very irresponsible and has little respect for the law (or even people). Dekker, a clerk at the local comic book store (Fly on the Wall Comics), is not as out-going as his friends and is considered a loner. ... Ridiculous characters, foul language and not very convincing acting. Despite the ludicrous production a spin off was created called Hero Envy: The Swass Adventures that aired in 2009. Here, Dekker's further adventures were chronicled but in an alternate universe where he now lives with a man known only as the Toy Dealer. His efforts to return to his own time while dealing with his current situation were the focus of the program."

The article notes: "In the case of “Hero Envy,” a series of “webisodes” for geeks, by geeks, it, too, has an origin. ... The brainchild of Leominster native Keith Gleason and Bolton’s Michael Hopta, “Hero Envy” evolves around the foul-mouthed and physically abusive misadventures of two childhood friends — Wally North (aka “Comicus Geekus,” played by Hopta), and his raucous roommate, J.D. Field (John Cimino of Waltham). ... With Adam Dyko behind the camera and Tom Rebello providing the cover art, a DVD featuring the first six “Hero Envy” episodes, as well as bonus features, has just been released at a cost of $10. At the recent Wizard World convention in Philadelphia, Gleason and company rented a table and sold 200 DVDs by weekend’s end."

The article notes: ""Hero Envy's" plots are characterdriven, with the series featuring four main characters that represent what Gleason refers to as four areas of "geekdom." Specifically, each is decked out with attributes highlight that character's individual obsessions: comic books, old cartoons/ merchandise, video games and movies in the science fiction and horror genres. These are also the obsessions of their real-life counterparts."

Ok look, there's been a bunch of back and forth on this article, including the previous nomination being overturned from keep to no consensus. I've done some digging on the subject, and here's my conclusions:
1. This individual has not won a Guinness World Record. This appears to be a miscited claim from them saying they had submitted a world record attempt for "fastest created movie" for creating a 3 minute animated movie in 10 hours. This attempt was not recorded by the Guinness Book of World Records. In the previous nomination, it was commented by several keep voters that the 3rd source in this article is from a reliable source. Given that they have printed this very simply false claim in the second sentence, I propose it be disregarded.
2. From what I can see, this individual's appointment was by her father's friend (described as her mentor) and carried pretty limited scope of responsibilities. This article seems to explain it best - https://www.business-standard.com/article/companies/bs-people-sindhuja-rajamaran-111032400058_1.html
3. WP:NEWSORGINDIA was not mentioned in the previous nomination, but I would like to comment that I think it makes this specific claim of notability extra dubious.
No ill will here, she seems like a smart woman making a good way in the world, but this marketing stunt is her *only* source of notability. It seems like it will be very difficult to write an encyclopaedic article about her because the only sources covering her are local puff pieces about how great she is. BrigadierG (talk) 22:07, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Comment: We literally just closed this less than 3 weeks ago. Let it rest for a bit. There is nothing that's changed in a month. Any "untruths" lets call them (as mentioned above), can be removed from the article by edit, not be deletion. Oaktree b (talk) 00:08, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- The discussion closed as no consensus which doesn't hold prejudice to renomination. Given that the most recent coverage for this individual is from 7 years ago or so, I don't think much is going to change about their notability status. At best, waiting stirs the voter pool a bit.
