No, the target is only one. Either way, seems like a problematic WP:PANDORA waiting to happen since Wikipedia itself is an encyclopedia. Steel1943 (talk) 22:45, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Capitalism (disambiguation), which is where the reader will find encyclopaedia entries for capitalism. PANDORA is WP:OTHERSTUFF nonsense so irrelevant. I wouldn't encourage the creation of redirects like this (but that's fine, because keeping this won't do that), but once created we lose nothing by targetting them at the right place. Thryduulf (talk) 01:19, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:COSTLY in general, and WP:UNHELPFUL in particular. Yes, I understand that UNHELPFUL and PANDORA literally point to the same part of COSTLY, meaning the same article just got linked three times here, but the redirect names themselves places the emphasis in a different place- specifically, COSTLY puts emphasis on the start of the article, and on how we also lose nothing by deleting the redirect. Meanwhile, using UNHELPFUL over PANDORA puts less emphasis on the WP:OTHERSTUFF argument given in the article (Oh, if we don't delete bad redirects, it'll make people make more nonsense redirects!), and more emphasis on the fact that redirects like this one help roughly nobody. Go on, plug "Encyclopedia entries for Communism" into the search bar. The search bar will pull up... Communism. Because that's how good our search function is. Lunamann 🌙🌙🌙 The Moooooooniest (talk) 08:46, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Lunamann, with whom I agree on all points. Useless redirect which will help nobody. Narky Blert (talk) 19:10, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as unhelpful due to there being no expectation of finding disambiguation pages in this fashion. -- Tavix (talk) 21:54, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The specific subject mentioned in this redirect does not seem to exist in either the target article or Arms industry, the target of the redirect Defense industry. The redirect originally targeted an article now named History of military technology, but I'm not sure if that target is correct either. Readers attempting to look up the subject of this redirect will most likely not be able to find what they are intending to locate. Steel1943 (talk) 22:39, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:FORRED. The target subject does not have affinity to any specific language. Steel1943 (talk) 22:36, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:FORRED. This was created as an arabic language article about (according to Google translate) military science, but it was less developed than our Military science article and arwiki's equivalent ar:علوم عسكرية, so it would meet speedy deletion criterion A2 if restored and A10 if restored and translated so there is no issue with deleting the former article content here. Classic WP:XY: War and Military science are two separate articles, with neither article going into adequate detail to explain the connection between the two topics. Steel1943 (talk) 22:34, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. We do have History of military technology, but that's the impact of military science on war over time and not necessarily what someone using this search term is looking for. This title was created as a 3-sentence stub article in 2005, but the content would be speedily deleted under A10 if restored (duplicative of the first part of the lead of the War article) so deleting it here is fine. Thryduulf (talk) 01:36, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No such topic mentioned in the target article. On a related note, a similar redirect, List of terrorists, is a redirect that currently targets List of designated terrorist groups per the outcome of Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2023 March 26#List of terrorists. (I'm pointing this out to relate the two concepts; this is in no way me advocating that the nominated redirect should be targeted there as I currently have no opinion in that matter.) Delete, per WP:BLPNAME. Sources covering this event refrain from naming the boy (see e.g. this article from the 20th anniversary of the event). The redirect is also miscapitalized and misspelled (his father's obituary lists 3 sons, none of whom are spelled "Dedrick")) There are no other redirects with correct capitalization or spelling. Plantdrew (talk) 21:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Plantdrew: What is your recommendation? (why are you listing it for discussion?) It seems to me like a reasonable redirect to keep because if I heard that name I would assume it was spelled with a "k" and so I would search for "Dedrick". I guess my larger question is whether this is notable enough to continue having a redirect. (And I don't know.) - Dyork (talk) 01:00, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Dyork: my primary concern is WP:BLPNAME. I've overhauled my nomination statement as I've thought more about the implications of BLPNAME, although I left the link to the father's obituary that I had initially included. From what I've found, I believe Wikipedia may have been the first place to name the boy as "Dedrick" (as opposed to not naming him, per BLPNAME), and other internet sources (not necessarily reliable ones) that now name him as "Dedrick" are a step in citogenesis. Plantdrew (talk) 02:56, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Delete - Reading more on , I am inclined to support nom in deletion of the redirect. - Dyork (talk) 20:37, 12 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as a highly plausible misspelling of Dedric Owens, and a person by that name is mentioned on the article. It doesn't really matter that that person has a name similar to other people related to the case - they aren't mentioned so are irrelevant here. Thryduulf (talk) 04:17, 9 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Thryduulf:, there is no redirect for Dedric Owens (with correct spelling and capitalization). Should there be one? Should there be a redirects for the boy's uncle (mentioned by first and last name in the article) or the boy's mother (mentioned only by first name). Should there be redirects for any of Kayla Rolland's relatives (not mentioned in the article, but in mentioned cited sources).
If you are not inclined to create a redirect with correct spelling and capitalization for the boy's father, and are motivated to keep the misspelled redirect because it is mentioned in the article with correct spelling, my inclination would be to remove the names of all of the boy's relatives (father, mother, uncle). There really isn't any benefit to readers in naming any of these people (WP:BLPNAME). Plantdrew (talk) 03:25, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have no opinion about whether anybody should or should not be named in the article, but anybody who is named more than in passing (and whose name is not ambiguous) is fine to create a redirect for if someone finds it useful. If this redirect is kept then it makes sense to create the correctly spelled one (but as this is not going to be a snow keep, not before then)· Thryduulf (talk) 11:03, 10 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have boldly removed the name of the boys father (which is relevant to this RfD) and mother from Killing of Kayla Rolland per WP:BLPNAME. "Dedric Owens" is now not mentioned at the target. Plantdrew (talk) 03:36, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Two errors and the correct Dedric Owens doesn't exist. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 11:41, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to List of youngest killers#Younger than age 13 or create an anchor there. The correctly spelled redirect may also be created and targeted there. Jay 💬 17:44, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Confusingly, the mention there uses this misspelling, instead of the purportedly correct spelling of Dedric. signed, Rosguill talk 18:13, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The list cites an iresearchnet.com article with no author or date. Web archives shows no backups before 2023 for that URL. I wonder if the entry should be removed from the list if there is no other reliable source. Jay 💬 07:21, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't be the first time I've seen someone bring up a list as a potential retarget, only for the conclusion that the list entry also needs to be removed. Given the lack of reliable sources that name the shooter at all, and the obituary pointing to the idea that it's misspelled anyways, that's what I feel should be done here-- Delete both. Struck. Plantdrew removed the name there. Jay 💬 06:41, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

These redirects are all way too generic. Sagol kāngjei is not the only early form of polo; we also have articles for chovgan, dakyu, and buzkashi. These should all be either deleted or redirected to Polo#History. PepperBeast (talk) 15:52, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WP:XY war. There's prior article content in the history but it was validly deleted per Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Terrorism and War so does not need to be restored. * Pppery * it has begun... 03:07, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. This feels like a plausible search term for someone wanting to learn about how the two topics relate (and they do relate in various ways), and there are several parts of the terrorism article that come close to dealing with this but never quite close enough. I've run out of time to look further, but this does feel like something we should have content about somewhere. Thryduulf (talk) 09:29, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, plicit 12:37, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. It seems there has been many attempt to distinguish the two terms over the years, so retargeting this title to one of the topic over the other is WP:UNDUE and almost de facto doesn't make sense. Steel1943 (talk) 14:55, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. While I still think we should have some content about the how these two terms relate, if that content currently exists I've been completely unable to find it. Thryduulf (talk) 15:27, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:XY. I've seen the Allied bombing of Germany during WWII called terror attacks in contemporary Allied sources. I agree with Thryduulf that an article discussing the relation between the two concepts (to which I'll add freedom fighting) would be valuable; imo a redirect to anything more specific will inevitably be one-sided. Narky Blert (talk) 21:02, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:XY as mentioned... and, as also alluded to by the multiple people wishing for an article about how the two topics relate, as per WP:REDLINK. Lunamann 🌙🌙🌙 The Moooooooniest (talk) 15:46, 26 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um" is a notable song. Miscellaneous bits of lyrics like this are useless and potentially confusing redirects.
