Not mentioned in target article, leaving the connection between the redirect and the target unclear. Steel1943 (talk) 19:43, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete huh? What? Dronebogus (talk) 00:05, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as confusing. According to my Google Books search, this sentence seems to be used for training kids in manners or for people who are learning basic English language. --Lenticel (talk) 00:17, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't make sense to redirect this title to the redirect's subject's potential director when the subject of the redirect may be attached to other notable subjects with articles. Also, WP:REDLINK applies. Steel1943 (talk) 19:40, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pros and Cons of the Euro[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Salvio giuliano 08:35, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not nominating this redirect on the basis of the unusual title, but because the target is too broad for it to be useful. I could understand if, for example, it pointed to a section named "Support and criticism", or even just "Response" or "Reception". The article on the euro doesn't have any of these sections (Criticism of the European Union is a redirect to Euroscepticism). The redirect also doesn't have page history or mainspace backlinks worth preserving. For all these reasons, it should be deleted as a costly title. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 19:07, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete deceptive POV redirect Dronebogus (talk) 19:11, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Delete I don't think it gets used much; the page view statistics show 577 views since its creation in 2007. There were reasons I thought it was appropriate in 2007; but I don't think those reasons are applicable today. I think most people looking for information on the Euro will just search for Euro. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 19:28, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:35, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom --Lenticel (talk) 00:41, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete – 577 views in the last 8 years (as far back as data goes at the current source) certainly indicates enough use to outweigh the minor maintenance burden, but I don't think this redirect is helpful as it stands, and don't really feel it should be a redirect title to be honest due to how synthesis-y it sounds. J947edits 06:07, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak retarget to Euro#Economics, which does (albeit in a roundabout and indirect way) discuss the economic benefits and risks of countries adopting the euro. (Also, there was briefly an article at this title; it was moved to this title from Arguments for and against the single european currency?, then deleted at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arguments for and against the single european currency?. I wouldn't support making the latter title into a redirect, though, because it's phrased like a question/essay prompt.) Duckmather (talk) 19:17, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Clearly a costly redirect as stated by the nom, so definitely no point in keeping. I also don't think that retargeting this anywhere would be helpful; though I do note that the above suggestion by Duckmather seems decent, it wouldn't be a completely precise target in my opinion. WP:FUTURE and WP:TOOSOON, same reason we don't have 2044 Summer Olympics as a redirect. Hey man im josh (talk) 17:55, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:CRYSTAL. Veverve (talk) 18:30, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per WP:TOOSOON, won't have bidding process soon. --Aleenf1 22:39, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as a redirect and WP:ATD. There is already some coverage but it would be best to have a full article till later. A comment on the Asian Games article would be sufficient for now. Sportsfan 1234 (talk) 22:48, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as an incredibly shiny, bright WP:CRYSTAL ... oh, and the WP:REDLINK potential in like 15 years. Steel1943 (talk) 18:26, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete arbitrary future date for regularly occurring event that will presumably continue indefinitely. Dronebogus (talk) 00:02, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete because it is unhelpful to the reader as it stands; the target article has no information on the topic. 2034 Asian Games and all earlier exist, by the way. J947edits 10:26, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gary Metropolitan Area[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) Compassionate727 (T·C) 13:49, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear why the former (not used since 1896) name of Hodgkins, Illinois (a village with 1500 population) would be a plausible redirect for the Chicago metropolitan area. Miscapitalised, and only has 58 pageviews since its creation in 2017. – dudhhr talk contribs (he/they) 15:34, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as a {{r from incorrect name}} {{r from former name}} (see below). There is no Gary Metropolitan Area, but the Gary, IN Metropolitan Division is part of the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin Metropolitan Area. - Eureka Lott 16:23, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Neutral. I get Eureka Lott's point, but since Gary, as the name of a city, is ambiguous (see Gary#Places), there's no guarantee this is the "Gary" that readers are intending to locate. Steel1943 (talk) 21:15, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
None of the other populated places listed at Gary#Places come close to having metropolitan areas. The largest of them has a population of 762. There's no realistic chance of confusion here. - Eureka Lott 23:39, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Not particularly if another "Gary" is close to another actual "metropolitan area" (which is the case with the current situation.) That's why I'm thinking better safe than sorry. Steel1943 (talk) 23:43, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I looked a bit closer, and this can be considered a historical name for the area. Prior to 2000, it was known as the Gary, IN PMSA (Primary Metropolitan Statistical Area). See [1] (The PMSA/CMSA nomenclature is no longer used.) Updated my !vote above. - Eureka Lott 00:36, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Don't think I have a dog in this fight anymore, so changing my vote. Steel1943 (talk) 00:58, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per EurekaLott. Just to make it clear, this isn't based off 1500 Gary, but off 70000 Gary. J947edits 10:29, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Shah Pahlavi[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. However, because there was a consensus against keeping the redirect as-is and a disambiguation page would consist of the first two entries at Pahlavi dynasty#Heads of House of Pahlavi, I have retargeted it there. (non-admin closure) Compassionate727 (T·C) 01:33, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I propose we disambiguate this redirect because in addition to Reza Shah Pahlavi, these words can also refer to his son, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. NotReallySoroka (talk) 00:32, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Support disambiguation - It could even be reasonable to redirect to the younger shah, considering he is often simply known as "the Shah" and by far a primary topic. Estar8806 (talk) 02:39, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Created by a now blocked user in an appear effort to help justify their controversy moves. Has no incoming links and I've only seen it mentioned in edit summaries by the creating user and a user that has now been blocked as a sock (ex: Special:Diff/1139343657). The word "bold" also doesn't appear at target so delete. Skynxnex (talk) 14:08, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete incomprehensible to the average reader Dronebogus (talk) 19:03, 13 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Haven't looked at this redirect at all, but how would the average reader come across this redirect? The use case here is a reader more in-the-know wanting to find en.wp content on it. J947edits 04:57, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
But there is no information on it. Dronebogus (talk) 00:03, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, there you go, that's a way better argument for deletion right there. J947edits 06:10, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'm looking now and I'm seeing several academic pieces that talk about this exact motu propio as well as the Year of Faith that it created. That being said, I support deletion per WP:REDYES, as this warrants its own page rather than a redirect to an article that does not mention it. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 01:22, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
