Not mentioned at target. Maybe a song lyric, but doesn't seem to be a particularly noteworthy one (searching the phrase leads to lots of unrelated things). Elli (talk | contribs) 21:11, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Useless redirect that doesn't serve navigation created by a now-globally locked LTA. Elli (talk | contribs) 21:03, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, I guess? Since the only people likely to touch this are socks of that LTA, this is almost certainly just getting G13'd in a few months, and does no real harm in the meantime. But since we're here, yeah, delete. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:09, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Tamzin: Redirects don't get G13'd, if you want to delete a redirect from draft space you need to bring it to RFD. From the Speedy deletion criteria you linked "Redirects are exempt from G13 deletion." 192.76.8.74 (talk) 12:14, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - this isn't a page move redirect, the LTA just created a redirect in draft space to an article that already exists. It will never help anyone find anything. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 13:51, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 01:43, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

This is an implausible search term as Brunswick hasn't been named Berlin since the early 1800s, the redirect has received 0 page views in the last 30 days and because of the specific title of this redirect, there is no other target page that it can redirect to. ColinBear (talk - contributions) 16:33, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - redirect is harmless and points to the correct target, which explains the naming history of this place. The title needs to be disambiguated from Berlin, Maryland which is a different place. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 18:25, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as a historical name. Hog Farm Talk 06:44, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Keep, plausible {{R from former name}}. Not sure how "because of the specific title of this redirect, there is no other target page that it can redirect to" is an argument for deletion at all. ~~~~

The result of the discussion was retarget to Which Doobie U B?. plicit 13:53, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The targeted article does not mention the song at all, and the song's performer, the Reelists, do not have their own Wikipedia page. ResPM (T🔈 🎵C) 12:54, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, I stand corrected. Reelists do have a single called Freak Mode [3] so this can become a potential stub article. In that case, it would be a twodabs to the which doobie. But it should not redirect to UK Singles Chart since it was not a number-one single that would show up in a Wikipedia list article. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 00:04, 29 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unlikely search term, also somewhat WP:CRYSTAL and WP:NOTNEWS. Was created in 2013 as a redirect to 2013 in Pakistan and manually updated to their respective articles until 2015, and retargeted by Sillyfolkboy in 2018 to the present target. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 03:00, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sleepy Eyes[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Ishtakhaba. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 05:56, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Dakota chief Ishtakhaba's name is usually translated as "Sleepy Eyes" (plural), although he is also called "Sleepy Eye" (singular) due to the city in Minnesota that was named after him. Would a disambiguation page for "Sleepy Eyes" be more appropriate rather than an automatic redirect in this case? Cielquiparle (talk) 01:35, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Ishtakhaba I wish the 45 nickname article would just be killed already as enshrining bullying in article form, but we don't need to target this link to an insult, nor dab it. Nate (chatter) 04:10, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate - I don't really think a random insult is really prominent enough to get a full redirect; changing it from that is a no-brainer. However, as long as List of nicknames used by Donald Trump exists, it doesn't really make sense to omit it, regardless of one's thoughts. - Novov T C 06:16, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree with this assessment. I don't feel that List of nicknames used by Donald Trump is significant enough to warrant its own encyclopedia article. If this discussion was about said nicknames list, then I would vote to delete the list. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 04:27, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget with hatnote. Setting aside recentism, the usage to refer to Ishtakhaba is probably more notable than an insult against Chuck Todd. Even if it weren't, I do think we'd be within our rights, vis-à-vis WP:RNEUTRAL, to prioritize the inoffensive usage of this, especially since the hatnote doesn't need to mention Todd by name. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 17:53, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Help:LINEBREAK[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. There is consensus that all three redirects discussed here are useful, even if one of them was created by accident. (non-admin closure)Uanfala (talk) 23:53, 3 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy delete the redirect Help:LINEBREAK as a duplicate of the H:LINEBREAK shortcut. The target is an Help page, but had WP: for a shortcut. Rather than creating a second shortcut, I moved the shortcut... however, it moved to Help:LINEBREAK instead of H:LINEBREAK. I am being blocked from undoing the move (says it has already been undone), so I opted instead to create H:LINEBREAK, and nominate Help:LINEBREAK for speedy deletion. I'm sorry for making a mess of it. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 20:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's important to understand here that "H" isnt' really an alias for "Help" the same way that "WP" is for "Wikipedia". WP:RFD and Wikipedia:RFD are the same page in the database. However, H:LINEBREAK and Help:LINEBREAK are different pages, in fact in different namespaces: H:LINEBREAK is technically considered a mainspace page (making this a cross-namespace redirect). Anytime we use "H:" as a pseudo-alias for "Help:", the corresponding "Help:..." page should exist, so as to maintain the sort of illusion of "H:" being an alias for "Help:". Thus keep. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 21:06, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I think I see your point: other users are displaying the WP:LINEBREAK shortcut. Currently, this will redirect to the redirect Help:LINEBREAK shortcut (double-redirect). If Help:LINEBREAK is deleted, then displaying [[WP:LINEBREAK]] will instead display a redlink. Having the double-redirect will allow users to see that they need to update their shortcuts. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 22:34, 26 August 2021 (UTC) (struck 19:58, 27 August 2021 (UTC))[reply]
@CJDOS: there isn't anything wrong with a WP: shortcut to Help namespace. I don't see a benefit to doing this. Elli (talk | contribs) 22:40, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
To add to that, WP:LINEBREAK should be corrected to point to Help:Line-break handling. Although if it isn't, a bot will do that automatically if this RfD closes as keep. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she/they) 22:49, 26 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I see: fix WP:LINEBREAK without reverting the shortcut move WP:LINEBREAKHelp:LINEBREAKWP:LINEBREAK. I was wondering if I should do that now, or wait until the close of the discussion. However, a later reply convinced me I should fix it now. I've also restored WP:LINEBREAK back in the target's {{Shortcut}} box for the time being. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 23:01, 26 August 2021 (UTC) (edited 23:19, 26 August 2021 (UTC), 19:04, 27 August 2021 (UTC))[reply]
  • Review: I'm coming under the impression that the purpose of this discussion is being misunderstood.
Help:Line-break handling – Target
WP:LINEBREAK – Former R from shortcut
Help:LINEBREAK – Current R from shortcut
Displaying [[WP:LINEBREAK]] redirects to Help:LINEBREAK, which redirects to the target page, Help:Line-break handling
H:LINEBREAK was created following an attempt to move WP:LINEBREAK to H:LINEBREAK because the target is an Help: page and not a Wikipedia: page. I had incorrectly marked the new page as an Help page, assuming that it would move to H: R from shortcut. I learned this after the fact, but it would not allow me to revert Help:LINEBREAK R from shortcut back to WP:LINEBREAK. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 22:55, 26 August 2021 (UTC) (struck 19:58, 27 August 2021 (UTC))[reply]
  • Retarget all of the shortcut redirects to Help:Line-break handling. It is not incorrect to use a WP-shortcut to point to a Help: page; there are numerous such shortcuts (there are 1,058 members of Category:Redirects to help namespace, though some of those are H: pseudospace shortcuts) and also numerous shortcuts in the other direction (e.g. Help:Desk targets Wikipedia:Help desk). There's no need to invent an intentional double redirect here, and this is being made out to be much more complicated than it is. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 14:16, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't "invent" a double-redirect "intentionally", it just ended up that way, and I have already offered to correct them to the target. My intent was to avoid creating a second shortcut by moving WP:LINEBREAKH:LINEBREAK, except I goofed it in the process, and the system wouldn't let me revert the move. I don't think I like your accusation, Ivanvector's squirrel. Nevertheless, I've had one suggestion that a bot will correct the redirect targets following this discussion, but I will go ahead and do that now rather than wait for the end. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 18:52, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Your comments here haven't been especially clear as to what you intended, but it does seem I misunderstood, and in any case it wasn't my intent to accuse you of doing something untoward. I meant only to say that the situation of the shortcut in the wrong namespace that I thought you were trying to correct didn't really need to be corrected in the first place, but whatever happened can be fixed. Yes, there are two or three bots that do fix double redirects, but they don't run when a redirect is nominated for discussion. We can fix them now or the bot can fix them later. Ivanvector's squirrel (trees/nuts) 19:00, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
The original request was to delete the redirect Help:LINEBREAK as an unintentional duplicate. I could not find a speedy deletion request tag that seemed appropriate for this specific situation, so I had to bring my deletion request to discussion. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 20:08, 27 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Db-error was the template I was looking for; I missed it because I was looking under WP:RCSD and so didn't look under WP:GCSD. As this discussion is already in progress, I believe it's too late to add it to the redirect page Help:LINEBREAK. — CJDOS, Sheridan, OR (talk) 04:49, 28 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
