July 15[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on July 15, 2020.

Day Software[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. signed, Rosguill talk 20:34, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Effectively a dead company, one of many dozens that Adobe buys every year. Don't see the point. scope_creepTalk 23:19, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep. For context on this redirect's current state, see the respective WP:ANI discussion here. This redirect is a {{R with history}}, but the page was created as a result of paid editing. Long story short, I see a case for "keep" since the redirect is mentioned in the target and thus can be considered a {{R from subtopic}}, but I can also see a case for "delete" since the redirect could enable some form of problematic WP:SEO. Ultimately though, I see more benefits of "keep" versus "delete". Steel1943 (talk) 17:38, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Virtually any redirect to any article the subject of which could benefit from SEO could in theory be used problematically in that manner. Accordingly I don't think we should attach much, if any, weight to that in determining the usefulness or otherwise of a redirect. Thryduulf (talk) 18:31, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's my thought process on this as well. I'm just giving it a bit more weight in this discussion than I'd usually do due to the referenced WP:ANI discussion existing ... which seemed to be partly related to SEO with all of the pages created by the referenced entity. Steel1943 (talk) 18:53, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: insufficiently notable for a redirect. --K.e.coffman (talk) 01:42, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, mentioned in article, but remove circular wikilink in Adobe Systems. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:05, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Done, since however this discussion ends the circular wikilink needs to go. Martinp (talk) 22:06, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep. I'm the one who replaced the content via a redirect, following on the discussion referenced by Steel1943 above. The content is weak, but not useless. In the (unlikely) case someone ever wants to salvage some of this, they can find it in history. No fundamental objection to zapping it, but redirects are cheap. Martinp (talk) 16:36, 20 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dirty Don[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 20:33, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:RFD#D3. Momo824 (talk) 06:00, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per WP:RNEUTRAL, "Perceived lack of neutrality in redirect names is therefore not a sufficient reason for their deletion. In most cases, non-neutral but verifiable redirects should point to neutrally titled articles about the subject of the term." pbp 08:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • While WP:RNEUTRAL is definitely relevant, none of these are (presently) mentioned at the target or at List of nicknames of presidents of the United States, the obvious other target (I haven't checked the page histories), so unless (sourced) mention is added my recommendations are:
Delete Dirty Don. There are no occurrences of this in articles that mention Donald Trump. There is a passing mention at WFTU (AM)#History of a "Dirty Don" referring to a Don Cannon, but the nickname is not mentioned in any of our articles about people with this name). Julio Dinero#Professional wrestling career and Reckless Youth#Great Lakes Wrestling note a wrestler named Don Montoya with the nickname/ringname "Dirty Don" but we don't have an article about anyone with that name. Finally Travis Draft once played a character with this name. None of those mentions are sufficient for a disambiguation page, and even then Donald Trump wouldn't be on it at present, so we're left with deletion. Thryduulf (talk) 08:50, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I've split these out to avoid a potential WP:TRAINWRECK. -- Tavix (talk) 14:31, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, per WP:RFD#DELETE; no reliable sources to support this as a common/plausible nickname in widespread use. wjematherplease leave a message... 09:23, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, signed, Rosguill talk 23:17, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Not a widely used neologism, and could refer to any number of Dons. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:08, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. This expression is ambiguous and the redirect may cause confusion. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:11, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. --Devokewater @ 23:44, 21 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per AngusWOOF. BLP policy is also relevant; we're not censored but on balance we're left with an attack rather than a common/plausible nickname. Martinp (talk) 19:51, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete Cadet Bone Spurs: This is mentioned in a quote at Tammy Duckworth#Tenure, at List of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert episodes (2018)#February and in the title of a reference at 2018 United States Senate election in Wisconsin. Only the first of these gives any context sufficient that a reader unfamiliar with the term would understand it, but I'm very reluctant to point a non-neutral nickname to the article of a different person, especially as it is not clear whether Tammy Duckworth was the originator of the epithet. With no good target deletion is all we have available. Thryduulf (talk) 08:50, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I've split these out to avoid a potential WP:TRAINWRECK. -- Tavix (talk) 14:31, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete or retarget to Tammy Duckworth, where it is mentioned/explained. wjematherplease leave a message... 09:27, 9 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Enwiki has no substantive content about Cadet Bone Spurs, and Search provides a better result. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:10, 19 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete essentially per Thryduulf. Somewhat more borderline than the other nick, but on balance the same applies. Martinp (talk) 19:54, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

IPhone 10[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to IPhone X. signed, Rosguill talk 20:30, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

For reasons I cannot comprehend, there is a edit war for this redirect between iPhone X and iPhone XR. iPhone X looks like the obvious target because it's pronounced "iPhone Ten", but here we are. -- Tavix (talk) 17:13, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Magwayen[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget to Madja-as#Death. Deryck C. 23:05, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Could also refer to Madja-as#Death. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 16:28, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, this can be resolved with a hatnote. signed, Rosguill talk 21:24, 30 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Rosguill. CycloneYoris talk! 23:08, 1 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget or disambiguate per WP:PRIMARYRED. The god is more likely than the current target to be primary by long-term significance and usage - in particular, all the Google Books hits are about the former. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 01:15, 2 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Madja-as#Death while adding a hatnote linking to Magwayen Creative Scholars' Guild per IP. It is indeed the primary topic when you look at the search results in Google and DuckDuckGo. I oppose disambiguation though, as there doesn't seem to be enough notable topics with the same name for a dab. No prejudice if somebody can prove that there are more than two instances of different "Magwayens". Also, if this discussion results in a retarget, don't forget to fix the old links (like the one at Bidasari (play)). --pandakekok9 (talk) Junk the Philippine anti-terror law! 09:12, 10 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

List of Nazi camps[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Types of Nazi camps. Not much of of a consensus between retargeting or deletion, but will default to the alternative to deletion. -- Tavix (talk) 22:17, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Misleading redirect, as the target is more specific as to what it is a list of. There were several types of Nazi camps of which the Nazi concentration camps were only one type. A complete list covering all types of Nazi camps would need more than 44,000 entries (source), which is clearly impractical. (t · c) buidhe 12:20, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Y[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Withdrawn.. (non-admin closure) Interstellarity (talk) 11:58, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can't figure out why this redirects to the help desk. I suggest this be retargeted elsewhere. Interstellarity (talk) 11:00, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The talk page of that redirect points here as the rationale. Sam Walton (talk) 11:26, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Samwalton9: Do you think that the current target of the redirect is appropriate? Why or why not? Interstellarity (talk) 11:41, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong keep since the current target has been the nominated redirect's target for over 13 years and has never changed. If there is an established need to create Wikipedia:Y (disambiguation), go for it and put a hatnote at the top of the nominated redirect's target. Steel1943 (talk) 17:46, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Steel1943. The redirect also has thousands of incoming links, retargeting would either take a lot of work to fix those links or leave loads of incorrect redirects. Danski454 (talk) 19:48, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment this was previously discussed in a batch nomination at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2020 July 10#Wikipedia:T. Danski454 (talk) 19:50, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lots of people use the shortcut when linking to the help desk so it fulfills its intention. As it has been long established (and as the original creator), I would say keep. Difficultly north (talk) Simply south alt. 21:23, 15 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Y not? -- Tavix (talk) 00:36, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per above. Long established and no alternative target has been identified so change would be disruption for literally no benefit. Thryduulf (talk) 00:47, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - supposed target fails WP:GNG →Enock4seth (talk) 16:10, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • That's irrelevant to the redirect. If the target is deleted this can be speedily deleted (G8) but unless and until that happens this is a good redirect, now I've added a mention of the name. Thryduulf (talk) 17:22, 8 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
