Adhura Milan[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep for now but send the target article to a deletion discussion. Deryck C. 22:27, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

While the theme song of the target article's subject (a 2000 Pakistani TV series) does appear to be called Adhura Milan, the term is far more likely to refer to the unrelated 2014 series on A-Plus TV (e.g. at Kinza Hashmi#Television). This redirect should be deleted in order to avoid unnecessary confusion of the two. M Imtiaz (talk · contribs) 22:16, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep If there are two possible uses and only one has its own article, it's much more logical to point there. There are currently two incoming links in mainspace: the one from Kinza Hashmi you pointed out, and one from Jana Malik, which is appropriately referring to the 2000 series. Is there any relationship between the two series, since they're both from the same network (e.g., the 2014 one is a remake of the 2000 one)? Assuming the redirect is kept as is, the link at Kinza Hashmi should be changed to Adhura Milan (2014 TV series) or removed. --BDD (talk) 19:46, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Re they're both from the same network: no, they're not; that's a blatant factual error, because A-Plus TV did not exist at the time (it was created five 10 years later). I suspect that it found its way into the Milan (Pakistani TV series) article because whoever added it was confused by this redirect, and thought they were editing the article on the 2014 series, which pretty much proves my point in starting this RfD.
I also don't see why the name of a theme song should redirect to the associated TV series, unless it is frequently used in reference to said series (it's not). M Imtiaz (talk · contribs) 02:12, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, I'm now starting to think that Milan (Pakistani TV series) might be a hoax of sorts: 1) as I mentioned above, the TV channel did not exist in 2000; 2) there is no trace of any Pakistani drama named Milan around that year (although there apparently was an Indian one); and 3) searching around only found this, which largely has the same cast list as the article we are looking at here, but says "Adhura Milan" (emphasis mine) in the Urdu title-card, and was quite obviously not filmed 20 years ago, given that one of the thumbnails clearly features a teenage Kinza Hashmi, who should have been a toddler at the time!
Sorry for rambling, but I conclude that there never was a Pakistani drama in 2000 named Milan. Any advice on what should be done? M Imtiaz (talk · contribs) 02:21, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Aha. Thanks, M Imtiaz, and apologies for not checking the infobox at A-Plus TV. It sounds like you have a strong case for an AfD on Milan (Pakistani TV series), whether it's indeed a hoax or just some sort of misunderstanding. I think it might be best to go to AfD and close this discussion. If the target is deleted, the redirect will go under G8. --BDD (talk) 16:10, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No mention of Kosovo at the target, I would suggest deletion signed, Rosguill talk 19:14, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Kosovo isn't a member of the ICC and I can't find any reference to cricket in the country. It plays other sports internationally, so a redirect to Serbia would seem to be misplaced. Happy it should be deleted - can't quite work out why it was created: presumably misplaced enthusiasm? The project page at Wikipedia:WikiProject Cricket/missing countries was updated minutes later - I'm really not sure this is a particularly helpful resource either (I mean, I know a little about Tristan de Cunha and can't quite see why we'll ever need an article about cricket there...). Alex Aiken is also a Stanford CS professor and husband of Jennifer Widom. Disambiguating between two people without articles, especially when the redirect targets (spouses) are questionable, is not useful, so it should be redlinked to encourage article creation should either of them prove to be notable. Stray cat[edit]

The result of the discussion was retarget Stray cat to Feral cat with hatnote. There's no particular agreement or argument over whether to specifically target Feral cat#Definitions; as it is the first section under the lead anyway I've elected to leave the redirect at the base title. Retarget Stray cats to Stray Cats as an alternative capitalisation. ~ mazca talk 22:08, 30 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think "stray cat", or "stray cats", at that capitalisation is ambiguous. So, where should they target (Cat, Estray)? Note these redirects are orphans. Note that Stray Cats is an article and Stray Cats (disambiguation) the associated disambiguation page. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 16:53, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete the (disambiguation) redirects at this capitalisation, because "stray cat" and "stray cats" is not ambiguous, noting that Stray Cats is an article and Stray Cats (disambiguation) the associated disambiguation page. Osama Lutfi[edit]

The result of the discussion was withdrawn. Anyone could've closed this today anyway, but I think we're at unanimity. I had already tagged Osama Lutfi with {{avoided double redirect|Sam Lutfi}}, and given the course of the discussion, I'll establish redirects from both "Lufti" forms with the same tag. --BDD (talk) 18:48, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

There's no mention of this person at the target article or anywhere on Wikipedia. According to a quickly reverted one-sentence article, he's a personal assistant of Spears. --BDD (talk) 15:35, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

He was her manager, and meets GNG himself unless it's counted as 1E, as there has been international coverage of their relationship and the restraining order. However, now he's not mentioned in her article, there is no point in the redirect. Boleyn (talk) 16:25, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Sam Lufti is mentioned in the article so is a reasonable redirect. No mention of Osama Lufti, so delete that one. PamD 18:51, 22 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oops. I searched for "Lufti" rather than "Lutfi". Thanks, PamD for both pointing out my WP:BEFORE error and using the same misspelling as me, so I'm not alone. :) It looks like Osama is indeed his real first name, so at this point, I'd be fine with withdrawing / keep close. I just added Rcats to Osama that should help. --BDD (talk) 13:50, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per @PamD: (thank you) provided that the 2 redlinks are also created: it doesn't make sense to redirect misspellings but not the correct spelling. Talking of which, this is so commonly misspelt I can't work out which is correct. I have NME, Independent, Mail with Lufti; and CNN, Guardian, Metro, Sun with Lutfi! Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 08:24, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I didn't realise these were two redirects for same person, didn't twig that "Sam" was short for "Osama"!. If redirecting from Osama, could usefully add this alternative name into the text, please: someone following a redirect from Osama and using "Find in page" won't find the mention unless we do so. I really thought we were discussing redirects from two different people. Lockdown brain fade. PamD 11:42, 24 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
