Car dealerships in North America[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 00:39, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. This article has been accessible from this title since 2005, so normally I'd want to keep the URL, but in fact we don't have (and apparently have never had) an article actually covering car dealerships in North America in general. The article was at this title until last year, when someone moved it to the current title because it only covers the US. The redirect can be confusing: if you find a link to car dealerships in North America and don't look at the intro, you might not notice that it's US-specific and might imagine that "Most car dealers offer a variety of financing options for the purchase of cars, including loans and leases. Financing can be highly profitable for dealerships" is talking about Mexico, Canada, etc. Theoretically, someone might notice the different titles and misunderstand it to mean that there aren't car dealerships in other North American countries (i.e. all North American dealerships are in the US, so the two titles have the same scope), which again doesn't make sense. And finally, RFD#DELETE item #10 — deletion would demonstrate that we really don't have an article on car dealerships in North America. Nyttend backup (talk) 23:53, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. As the target is mentioned in multiple places but discussed in depth nowhere on-wiki, participants agree that there is no obviously appropriate target and hence the search results would better serve readers. ~ mazca talk 00:25, 14 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No mention at the target, I would suggest deletion unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 23:10, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) feminist Wear a mask to protect everyone 03:32, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing any examples of Maaten Bagush being referred to as just Bagush. There's also a decent chance for confusion, since "bagush" could be a transliteration of the Hebrew בגוש, "in the Gush)". I would suggest deleting, as I think that internal search results are preferable here. signed, Rosguill talk 22:06, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. It was the site of Bagush Airfield 1, 2, 3, 4. Narky Blert (talk) 02:11, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - I created this redirect because my father referred to Bagush several times in his war memoirs and I was trying to identify its location. As the previous editor's links show, the place was generally referred to as Bagush by the British forces in WWII. Daemonickangaroo2018 (talk) 08:54, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Can anybody please shed some light as to why Maja Oeri is pointing to that other person? Is she a descendant? It's not explained in the article (or in any of the 2 articles in the German Wikipedia, and the redirect was created by someone who's been blocked for years. What do you guys reckon? Dr. Vogel (talk) 21:47, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. She is indeed an heiress 1, 2. She's Fritz's great-granddaughter (see de:Maja Sacher and de:Emanuel Hoffmann (Unternehmer)). de:Maja Oeri suggests there just might be enough material for an English article (in addition, there's been some family politics over the money, and she's a published author), so encourage article creation. Narky Blert (talk) 02:36, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Having redirects from names of children and spouses is common, but a redirect from the name of a great-grandchild? Unless there's some other reason for the redirect, a great-grandchild should never be redirected to a great-grandparent. Nyttend backup (talk) 12:39, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 02:37, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find any indication that this is used as an alternative title for the target. Delete unless a justification can be provided. signed, Rosguill talk 21:08, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Slightly weak delete this title. While the movie mostly takes place in Thailand, the "Now in Thailand!" part doesn't seem to be used in the title in any reliable sources. Also, we don't need this (2011) disambiguator. Regards, SONIC678 23:25, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

First two moved directly from the titles with misspelled generic disambig qualifiers, third was redirect some days after creation as a duplicate, fourth existed under its name four ~2 years. Typos in generic disambig qualifiers, missing comma in the last. All directly moved from these titles (for the last, there is one strange move log…). 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 18:02, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Off-topic for "Rafael Pereira da Silva". Orignally there is only one "Rafael Pereira da Silva" as the ManUtd one did not turn pro at that time. I should nominate the misspelling for quick deletion at that time. For the move log, yeah, it is quite common for page that bold move due to disagreement on dab MoS. wikipedia should strip moving rights from most of the people and as everyone either use WP:RM or WP:RM/TR. Ambiguous term. Multiple people named Michael with middle initial S, but a disambiguation page of this type is unsuitable. Jalen Folf (talk) 17:56, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Quite standard disambig qualifier in which the typo is, I suggest deletion. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 16:44, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Unnecessary clutter. Narky Blert (talk) 17:51, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Although I'm technically the creator of this, that's only because I moved a page that had been created at this title to the correct spelling. At the time, we had a rule that even silly spelling error redirects had to be retained if they were the page's original location, for GFDL attribution reasons — but that's since been deprecated, so there's no need to retain it anymore. Bearcat (talk) 18:08, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Bearcat: It's still here, just ignored. — J947 (user | cont | ess), at 20:08, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • That doesn't even really cover what I meant, because "breaking internal links" (which isn't really happening here, since this discussion accounts for all of the links that are actually leading through this redirect at all) isn't the same thing as "GFDL attribution reasons". No need to disambiguate. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 15:03, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - I don't see the difference between this and any of the numerous (likely hundreds) of redirects that are formatted as '[Thing] (album)' going to '[Thing]'. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 15:15, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There is no point to disambiguate. The reason for disambiguation is when there are two articles with the same name but in this case there is only one. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 15:24, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'm aware of at least three entities known as 'The Dirty Boogie' in the world: a particular dance, a certain song, and a given album containing that song. How is that not a reasonable situation to have redirects in the mix? CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 15:46, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

These two should point to the same target. feminist (talk) 14:11, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Presently undecided, but it's fitting that "feminist" was the first person to notice these. Glades12 (talk) 14:57, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget - Both of these should go to 'women's rights'. I think that decision makes the most sense for two reasons.
    • First, given that efforts to support voting-related rights for women go back decades upon decades such that they precede the definition of and proliferation of the term "feminism", it's anachronistic to leave things as is with the redirects. Governments have been deciding things by tally for millennia. Women have been discriminated against for millennia in terms of voting as well.
    • Second... well, not to step into a minefield, but I also feel compelled to note that a great many people both currently and historically will/have identify/identified as supporting "women's rights" in terms of a set of ideals while declining to self-label as "feminist". Those who hold absolutist views on civil libertarian issues (being against regulations on pornography, speech codes on college campuses, censorship of social media, et cetera) and particularly identify as being both non-feminist or even anti-feminist and pro-women's-rights come to mind. So do economically stressed people, people with autism, non-binary people, racial minorities, transgender people, and other groups historically and currently disfavored by the feminist movement as it has historically and currently been dominated by upper-class hetereosexual cisgender neurotypical white women to the expense of everybody else... the number of individuals without much social privilege who historically and currently were/are pro-women's-rights and not feminist is a rather large number. (Okay, I stepped in the minefield. But just a tad). CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 15:39, 4 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget both to Women's suffrage. In non-slavery contexts, emancipation is about the ability to vote. Narky Blert (talk) 02:02, 5 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Women's rights. Looking at Google Scholar, while it's clear that the original "women's emancipation movements" were largely about suffrage, I see several results that appear to use the phrase "women's emancipation" to refer to freedom from other manifestations of sexism in a manner which reflects the content and framing at Women's rights. signed, Rosguill talk 00:31, 12 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
