The result of the discussion was retarget to Lists of colours. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 13:37, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

unnecessary redirect: should be deleted if we can't turn it into a list of lists. Ssjhowarthisawesome (talk) 17:31, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Death of Marvel Cinematic Universe Heroes[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 00:59, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple heroes have died or "fallen" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe/MCU, the expected target for these redirects would be a list of when it happened not a link to the plot of a film where it happened. Emir of Wikipedia (talk) 15:30, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete all seems to be created as spoilers rather than taglines for the film. No such Wikipedia articles that track status of alive/dead of MCU characters; leave that for Wikia. Characters can later reappear in the MCU series as ghosts or flashbacks or origin stories. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:54, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. Not useful. Like creating redirects to the latest star wars film saying Luke dies (or with gta 5 creating one saying" Franklin kills Trevor"). Pointless spoilers and not so useful redirect. I was debating last night about nominating these when I saw them in the page curation feed, but was going to sleep on it. You beat me to the nomination. --TheSandDoctor Talk 18:13, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete. Shouting is vandalism and the page was an orphan. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:23, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

With its all-caps yelling, uncommon typo, and prefixed "the", this redirect created from a page move does not seem to be a useful redirect. Nothing links to it either. Reyk YO! 11:17, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep with a hatnote, which mostly meets all arguments brough forward here and in the original discussion on WPVG. (Closure of this discussion was requested neutrally on the Wikimedia Discord) (non-admin closure) Ben · Salvidrim!  15:19, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Was merged with Xbox 360 article but no mention of term in List of Xbox 360 games Abote2 (talk) 10:19, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Was discussed here. Page was tagged for almost two weeks with nary an objection. Zero Serenity (talk - contributions) 15:25, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Xbox Live Arcade article which has a small list of original Xbox ones and details on what games were created for Live Arcade. I've redone the See also for the Xbox 360 list. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:38, 20 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The list does tag Live Arcade games, so it does still serve the original purpose. Someone could be looking for Xbox Live Arcade games for the original Xbox, but I doubt that's a lot of people. Slap on a hatnote directing those people to Xbox Live Arcade#Xbox and we're back in business. Reach Out to the Truth 01:49, 23 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Public Roads[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Highway. Conversation is still ongoing, but I haven't seen a compelling argument for this to be deleted. Even the most recent delete !vote is weak and subtly argues for a retarget. ~ Amory (utc) 14:49, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

"Bureau of Public Roads," sure, but "Public Roads" is far too broad of a term to be specific to the States. Other countries have public roads. TheSandDoctor Talk 04:41, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Highway to match Public roads and Public road. Thryduulf (talk) 10:42, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • comment I don't think that this is a useful redirect. The term really only makes sense as the opposie of a private roas; redirecting to anyting evades this vital didtinction.TheLongTone (talk) 11:14, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. A search for "Public Roads" will then lead to Public roads which will then redirect to Highway as user:Thryduulf notes. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 06:15, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Not every method of searching or browsing Wikipedia is case insensitive, and requiring people to go via a search results page (3-4 clicks in some cases) when they go direct (0 clicks) is directly contrary to improving the encyclopaedia - especially as deletion will bring exactly zero benefits. Thryduulf (talk) 12:58, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete - I get the feeling that we should just get rid of this redirect, but if we keep it then we need to change it as stated by Thryduulf. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 04:55, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @CoffeeWithMarkets: Why do you think deletion will be of greater benefit to the encyclopaedia and its readers than retargetting? Thryduulf (talk) 09:37, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Highway. Roads are often proper nouns, so the miscapitalization makes sense. -- Tavix (talk) 14:22, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. ~ Amory (utc) 12:34, 5 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target, not linked by anything. Doubt these redirects are of use on the English Wikipedia. TheSandDoctor Talk 04:13, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep the third one, this is the title of the anthem in Ossetian and is mentioned in the article: "also known as Beloved Ossetia! (Ossetian: Уарзон Ирыстон!)". Thryduulf (talk) 10:54, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep the first two as they appear to be "Hymn of South Ossetia" [i.e. National Anthem of South Ossetia] in Russian and Ossetian respectively (which our South Ossetia article gives as the official languages of South Ossetia), and google results make it clear that this is the topic people will be looking for if they search for this, and they match the titles of the article on the Russian and Ossetic Wikipedias: ru:Гимн Южной Осетии, os:Хуссар Ирыстоны гимн. Thryduulf (talk) 10:54, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf: legitimate (if not particularly strongly useful) redirects that are consistent with WP:RFOREIGN. – Uanfala (talk) 11:51, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - English Wikipedia = English Words, You wouldn't go to German Wikipedia and expect English words would you ? ... same case here. –Davey2010Talk 20:27, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • It's not as simple as that. See WP:RFOREIGN which describes examples of situations where redirects from non-English languages are acceptable and where they are not. Thryduulf (talk) 12:24, 29 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy keep. Not a proper request. I have gone ahead and reverted the move per the request though. For future reference Michael A. White, requests like this should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests. (non-admin closure) TheSandDoctor Talk 04:21, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Would like to switch Abstraction (computer science) and Abstraction (software engineering). I incorrectly moved the page a while back. --Michael WhiteT·C 02:31, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. Having just spoiled the movie for myself, I think these are well intentioned (i.e., not blatant vandalism or screwing around) but incorrect and misleading, in addition to the concerns below. As such, WP:SNOW closing this (very) early. No comment on the related discussion. ~ Amory (utc) 01:41, 30 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do not seem like a likely/useful redirects. TheSandDoctor Talk 02:06, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The first/last ones at least would probably be worth an entry in WP:DAFT once sufficient time enough has passed that spoilers are no longer an issue.--StrexcorpEmployee (talk) 20:24, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete fancruft. –Davey2010Talk 20:28, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy keep. Withdrawn nomination, therefore meeting WP:SKCRIT criterion #1. (non-admin closure) TheSandDoctor Talk 04:24, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Inappropriate redirect as title (presumably) changes yearly. TheSandDoctor Talk 01:58, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment @TheSandDoctor: Can you provide more background as to why you believe that the title will be renamed every year? And are you referring to the redirect name or its target? Thanks.—Bagumba (talk) 02:17, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there Bagumba (and sorry for the delay in my response), I meant that the current "Player of the Year" (the target) will most likely change year for year. For instance, (pick any sport) "MVP of the year" for 2006 isn't necessarily the same one as 2018, titleholders change (more or less yearly). --TheSandDoctor Talk 03:55, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@TheSandDoctor:The target of Alain Gilles Trophy points to a trophy named after a person, it doesn't point to a specific person. So it appears the redirect is intended to be an alternative name for the trophy, not for the current winner.—Bagumba (talk) 04:22, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Bagumba: Not sure how I didn't notice that until now. My apologies. I withdraw and will speedy keep as SK1. --TheSandDoctor Talk 04:24, 28 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
