The result of the discussion was delete.---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 16:57, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The word "artifact" is no where in the target article. Readers will arrive at the target article probably finding no information about the subject of the redirect (which may be a WP:NOTWIKIA violation anyways.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:41, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The word "glossary" is not present in the target article. Also, such a list as represented by the title of this redirect existing on Wikipedia would probably fail WP:NOTWIKIA. Steel1943 (talk) 22:27, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(eubot) Incorrect transliteration. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 06:51, 21 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, seems to get used as a transliteration. [1], [2], [3]. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 15:55, 28 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete. Patar knight has listed above three of the four books that come up in a google books search (two of these are duplicates of a suspiciously iffy looking webified edition of a Lonely Planet pocket guide), so that's only two hits. Given how generally prominent the place is, I think these are likely to be transliteration errors. – Uanfala (talk) 01:33, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Czernobyl[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Chernobyl. --BDD (talk) 21:48, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Delete all. Not likely English misspellings, but if kept they should probably go to Chernobyl or Chernobyl (disambiguation). These al get a steady stream of hits, and I'd guess that people are looking for either the disaster or Chernobyl nuclear power plant, so perhaps retargeting to the DAB is safer. The numbers in parentheses after each nomination are the hits in 90 days. Si Trew (talk) 18:12, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, the targeting option should be Chernobyl. Still primary topic. If they add the word "dynasty" then point to the dynasty article as the dynasty is named after the town. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:56, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Hang on, gonna revisit this. Keep Czarnobyl for being Slavic spelling, [4] and Czernobyl as being close as well [5] as with Czerny, and Chyrnobyl since the y's are a plausible attempt at spelling as with synonym. Delete Chenobyl. Target to Chernobyl as primary topic. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:03, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, BDD (talk) 21:05, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all four to Chernobyl; going by the page views, all of these seem to be common misspellings and/or alternative spellings. Sideways713 (talk) 01:05, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all four to Chernobyl per Sideways713. CapitalSasha ~ talk 22:14, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget #1, #3 and #4 to Chernobyl. #1 and #4 are likely (old) exonyms, maybe from Polish or a similar language. #3 is probably a transliteration of some Cyrillic exonym, considering "ch" is almost never used in Latin Slavic languages for that sound (чырнобыль seems to be getting some usage online, although it could also be just a Russian typo). Keep #2 (Chenobryl) as is, because it's an English typo/misnomer getting hits mostly in the context of the disaster [6]. DaßWölf 18:33, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all to Chernobyl. The hatnote there will serve readers looking for the disaster. If it should go to the disaster, that's should be a matter for RM, not RfD. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 16:54, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was speedy delete. Per G7. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:54, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in the target article. Per third-party search engines, the subject of these redirects seems to be an unreleased puzzle game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Either way, its lack of mention in the target article leaves readers with trying to figure out where the information for this subject is. Steel1943 (talk) 20:04, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - At one time I had hoped to make an article out of it, but it never ended up gaining any coverage outside of Sonic fansite circuit. I can't even properly source a sentence in the series article. Sergecross73 msg me 20:26, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No such list exists at the target article. Steel1943 (talk) 19:56, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - its very concept would be a WP:GAMECRUFT violation as its own article or at a series article. The article history shows that it was never actually populated as an article, and was intended to be deleted about a decade ago, but has only survived as a forgotten redirect instead. Sergecross73 msg me 20:29, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per Sergecross73 Given that the List of Sonic the Hedgehog characters aren't organized by bosses, this isn't that helpful. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:13, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete but I'm not fond of the application of notability to redirect pages as-is, since redirects don't have to meet the same standards as an article. Mihirpmehta (talk) 12:27, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:NOTWIKIA. Not mentioned in target article, and search results for the redirect on third-party search engines produce results only for fan fiction. Steel1943 (talk) 17:39, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:38, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 21:30, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Same issue as 2-1B (Too-onebee). Creation edit summary states "disambig amounts to pronunciation". Atedeate can be created if desired. No history worth preserving in this case. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 17:42, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. 8D8 already redirects to the Star Wars page. There is no extensive use of the pronunciation in the Star Wars books as with Artoo-Detoo. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:45, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I might've thought to bundle this with 2-1B, but I'm glad I didn't. This time, Wookieepedia gives "Atedeeate" as the droid's spelled-out name. So this is arguably incorrect, and we do have the creator's intent that this was about disambiguation, which isn't needed. Not quite enough to make me say keep or delete either way. --BDD (talk) 20:26, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Atedeate or Atedeeate would be fine redirects to create or at least move this one there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:15, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep. BDD's links showing this has canonical usage are the most persuasive of all the arguments presented here. Thryduulf (talk) 19:28, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Too-onebee" is seemingly meant as a pronunciation guide, not a disambiguator. Too-onebee exists. Move this history to Too-onebee to preserve it, then delete this. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 16:18, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete 2-1B and 21B already exist to redirect users to the Star Wars character. There is no need to further disambiguate by pronunciation, and Too-onebee exists and is used in the Star Wars novels and guides. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:47, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep See this Wookieepedia page. At least some Star Wars droids have canonical written-out name forms. See the ledes of R2-D2 and C-3PO for two famous examples. Maybe the intent there was to guide pronunciation, but I see this more as an alternative name than an attempt at disambiguation. --BDD (talk) 20:23, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'd say {{R from alternative name}}, yeah. In novelizations and such, I think you'd find R2 being referred to by both names. --BDD (talk) 15:12, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Two-onebee and Too-onebee are okay to keep, just doesn't need the separate dab for listing the short plus pronunciation. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:16, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Raphael’s Room[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete the redirect with the 'RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK', keep the redirect with the 'APOSTROPHE'. -- Tavix (talk) 17:36, 13 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

How many rooms? WP:RFD#D5 nonsense. The target has several other redirects that people can use to find this. The first with the back (open) apostrophe "’" is an unusual character in a page name to start with (although I'll probably be told that WP:TITLE does not apply to redirects: why not? They appear in the same search space as article titles). There is not a single "Raphael's Room", he didn't have a favourite of the four, they are collective and in this sense indivisible. Si Trew (talk) 01:22, 18 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete the weird apostrophes per nom. Provide a new redirect link for Raphael room AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:38, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Raphael’s Room (the first), i.e. containing 'RIGHT SINGLE QUOTATION MARK' (U+2019), as it is a quotation mark. Keep Raphael's Room (the second) as I think a regular apostrophe, i.e. 'APOSTROPHE' (U+0027), is reasonable. — Godsy (TALKCONT) 16:13, 29 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
    • U+2019 is both an apostrophe and a quotation mark. Don’t base your argument on the Unicode character name. Gorobay (talk) 17:50, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • I would also keep the one that's got a regular apostrophe since it involves a simple typo, meaning that people searching just made one simple, plausible mistake. I've no opinion on the other one. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 04:26, 1 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep the normally apostrophed version (even if it looks silly – redirects do serve the purpose of helping silly queries produce meaningful results), delete the other one. – Uanfala (talk) 02:06, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Stub-template redirect now orphan. @Od Mishehu:. Magioladitis (talk) 12:45, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete. I assume that the "Cvg" means "Computer video game". No such similarly-named redirects target the same target as the nominated redirect. Stub-template redirect now orphan. @Od Mishehu:. Magioladitis (talk) 12:44, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. The redirect clearly helps those not familiar with the exact name of the target template find the template. Per WP:VG, the term "VG" usually refers to "video game" on Wikipedia. Also, {{VG stub}}, {{Vg stub}} and {{Videogame-stub}} exist as redirects to the nominated redirect's target; best give those looking for this template all available options to find the target template. Steel1943 (talk) 21:03, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Steel1943 as far as I understand stub taggers would like to avoid template redirects but I am not expert on that. Thus, I pinged Od Mishehu. -- Magioladitis (talk) 16:21, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unused redirect template, should be deleted to unify the usage of {{Video game release}} or its short form {{Vgrelease}}. Lordtobi () 10:58, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. Clearly a useful redirect, especially since Template:Vgrelease exists and also redirects to the nominated redirect's target. One cannot assume that every reader knows naming conventions for templates, and last I checked, Wikipedia:Naming conventions (templates) or a similar page doesn't exist to help anyone figure that out. Steel1943 (talk) 14:07, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It was not used in the first place, and all editors commonly default to vgrelease wherefore that should be kept. Having more unused redirects like this is not usefull. Lordtobi () 16:29, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I can see the need for limiting redirects, but this is a basic one on par with {{vg infobox}} and {{vg reviews}}. We should keep it if only for consistency. As for its use, we can start by listing it alongside the other redirect. I am no longer watching this page—ping if you'd like a response czar 18:49, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

(eubot) Weak delete. Back-formed formed from Han-yü Pin-yin; I would say the whole point about having the diacrtics there is that is how they are transliterated in, er, Han-yü pin-yin, so that taking them out makes the transliteration a bit WP:RFD#D5 nonsense. Si Trew (talk) 11:27, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep if someone has heard of Han-yü Pin-yin but does not know much about it and/or does not have it written in front of them, then this is a very plausible spelling at which they would look for it. Thryduulf (talk) 13:35, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
True, true, and there are thirty-five other redirects to this target, so I imagine one way or another they would find it. There's Hànyǔ_Pīnyīn and HYPY and Hanyupinyin and BGN/PCGN romanization of Chinese characters and (perhaps an XY( Chinese Phonetic Alphabet and 汉语拼音 and 漢語拼音 and BGN–PCGN romanization of Chinese characters and BGN-PCGN romanization of Chinese characters (one has an en dash, the other a hyphen minus, not sure how having both of those helps a reader to search: en dashes are hard to find on keyboards) and Pinyin reading material where the target does not discuss Pinyin reading material and WP:NOTCATALOG. I doubt people really need this ill-formed redirect when there are thirty-five others for the search engine to choose from. Pretty much half of them could be deleted from Wikipedia without any detriment to readers searching, and to relieve the burden of perpetual maintenance (WP:COSTLY); but I only nominated one of them. There's a proposal at WT:RFD that editors take time to categorise all the redirects that should be to the same target, but when there are thirty-five to the same target, that gets a bit onerous, I think. Si Trew (talk) 13:53, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
It's not at all a plausible spelling, or at least if it is, the stats don't back that up. It has been hit three times in ninety days, each time around the 11th of the month. That doesn't seem like random human activity to me, that's an external robot search, I would guess, and if you leave those aside exactly ZERO people have gone through this redirect. • Delete "yue" is a completely different syllable that can be many characters meaning many other things, it is unlikely that readers will intentionally search for this. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 01:03, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Misspelling or not, I could not find the term on Bing or Google. Actually, one Google result said "Hanyue" for National Geographic Guide: Taiwan, but the guide says otherwise. Therefore, the term is unlikely to be searched for. George Ho (talk) 10:57, 6 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong delete per Champion. Han-Yue typically means Han-Yue relations, which is completely different from Hanyu. Deryck C. 12:42, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in target, but the French Wikipedia has an article, WP:REDLINK for it is discussed in English sources, so it makes sense to have an article. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 03:34, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Gyuri and add section as the name for a Japanese cucumber. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 01:32, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • AngusWOOF, why would the surname article at Gyuri be expanded with content about Japanese cucumbers? Kyuri redirects there, but it's a common romanisation of the Korean name. Is Kyūri a valid romanisation as well? – Uanfala (talk) 11:48, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, nevermind, I got confused with WP:NOTDAB . Retarget to Japanese vegetable which lists kyūri as cucumber [7] The only one with a Kyūri name I see is a really minor Dragon Ball character (brother to King Vegeta) and most of those are named after vegetables anyway. • Comment There appears to be a painting with this name by Yuki Ogura. – Uanfala (talk) 11:48, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Cucumbers are trans-cultural. I don't think there's sufficient special affinity to justify keeping a redirect from the transliterated Japanese name. Deryck C. 14:00, 12 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
