He Lin[edit]

I propose this redirect to be either deleted or converted into a disambiguation page. If the target article name "Lin He" should be understood in traditional Chinese "Surname GivenName" order (have not quite understood it from the article itself), the redirect page should be deleted since it creates confusion between two different scientists of different name. Lin He is a female American (of Chinese origin) associate professor of cell and developmental biology at the University of California, Berkeley. while He Lin (zh:贺林) is a male Chinese academician (member of Academia Sinica), listed in List of members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences#Division of Life Sciences and Medicine (see year 2005), thus making a false impression of existence or an article about him and actually leading to wrong article. If the female associate professor's name is actually homonymic He Lin in Chinese naming order, but presented in article in "American order" - then the redirect in question should be made into a disambiguation page and the link in List of members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences corrected/clarified respectively. The UC Berkeley researcher's surname is "He", given name is "Lin" per (in Chinese). She was born and educated in China (and as the link shows is known in China by her Chinese name 何琳 "He Lin"), so the redirect should not be deleted. Timmyshin (talk) 22:17, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I added the {{Chinese name}} tag to clarify that He is the family name since He and Lin are both possible family names. Also He Lin with family name Lin should not be cross-over to ZH Wikipedia as they are not the same person. If He Lin (family name Lin) is notable for EN Wikipedia then you could create an entry here and do a two dabs. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 00:27, 3 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Upon further research, there is a He Lin (family name He) in China who is also a professor in microbiology, but a member of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a full professor instead of associate professor [1]. if he is notable, then you might have to go with birth year or list of the institution as a dab. 01:14, 3 April 2017 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by AngusWOOF (talk • contribs)

Since all of the MythBusters cast members are listed on its target page, it is unclear what "additional" refers to and the redirect creates a circular reference to itself, similar to the use of the word "other". (However, for a redirect with essentially no incoming links [this redirect is a {{R from move}}], it sure gets a lot of page views...) Steel1943 (talk) 18:20, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is actually a well used redirect - use is not synonymous with the number of incoming links, and per the third bullet at the very top of WP:RFD "Redirects should not be deleted just because they have no incoming links." These are all "faulty crystal ball" redirects. There's been rumors of a Halo feature film as far back as 2007, but it has never gotten off the ground. As such, there's not a Halo film from any of these years and should be deleted as misleading. -- Tavix (talk) 00:50, 2 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
