Move target changed after the fact[edit]

If the move target in the header at Talk:Warren_Clinic_shooting#Requested_move_2_June_2022_(3) was changed after the fact, how should this be resolved? Please {{ping}} me when you respond. --Jax 0677 (talk) 01:42, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Jax 0677: I'm not quite sure what you're asking. There is strong support for renaming it 2022 Tulsa hospital shooting (which is the original proposed rename for this particular request, so what was changed?), with just a few holding out for Tulsa hospital shooting. Clarityfiend (talk) 10:00, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Reply - @Clarityfiend:, this is the difference with the late change. In fact, in the link Sideswipe9th sent at 00:41 on 5 June 2022, it says "It has been proposed in this section that Warren Clinic shooting be renamed and moved to Tulsa Hospital shooting ... 2022 Tulsa Hospital shooting ...". Since the addition to the template happened during this discussion, some of the support comments aren't clear as to whether they're in favour of moving this to 2022 Tulsa hospital shooting or Tulsa hospital shooting. --Jax 0677 (talk) 13:41, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Jax 0677: It seems clear to me from the comments that everyone who voted did so based on the second proposed title, not what was in the template above. (I certainly looked only at the "unboxed" recommendation until much, much later.) However, if it bothers you, just notify everyone who voted. Clarityfiend (talk) 08:36, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Root rat redirects to Bamboo rat, but[edit]

…I can’t see any #redirect entry on the Bamboo rat page when I try to edit it, and can’t of course get to the Root rat page, since it redirects to Bamboo rat. 😐

There is no mention anywhere in the Bamboo rat article of the term Root rat, so I’m going to move the redirect to Antechinus (an Australian marsupial), as that animal is known in Australia by the name Root rat (the male roots itself to death). Please ping me with any reply. Thanks. Boscaswell talk 07:52, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The link to the non-redirecting root rat page: [1]. You can get there by searching root rat, which initially redirects you to bamboo rat, but with a note (Redirected from Root rat) directly under "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". Femke (talk) 07:56, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

How do I put my Daughter in Wikipedia?[edit]

My Daugther is an Artist, Singer and Songwriter. I can find anyone I search in Wikipedia, like Dua Lipa or Rita Ora. How do I do that with my Daughter Anastasia? Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anastasia Jaka (talkcontribs) 12:36, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Anastasia Jaka The short answer is, you don't, because this is an encyclopedia and not a directory. As an encyclopedia there is criteria for inclusion, called notability. For musicians, that is written on this page. If your daughter meets at least one aspect of the criteria, she may merit inclusion, but due to the conflict of interest it is recommended that you not attempt to write about her directly. 331dot (talk) 12:50, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
A point to bear in mind, Anastasi Jaka, is that if there is a Wikipedia article about your daughter (whoever writes it), the article will not belong to you or your daughter, will not be controlled by your or your daughter, will not be for her benefit except incidentally, should be based almost entirely on what people unconnected with your daughter have chosen to publish about her, not on what you or she or her associates say or want to say, and may end up containing content that you would prefer not to be there. See an article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing. ColinFine (talk) 18:27, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Genealogy Leavey[edit]

Hello, my name is Joe Leavey and I believe my Great Grandfather was born in Crivitz, Germany in 1831, as were both of his parents, could you direct me as to how to locate them? im assuming they were both born about 1810-1812, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Joe Leavey, — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:83:8002:B6B0:3907:74F6:5046:4A3 (talk) 14:04, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 6.5 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck. Vandalism help request from TheOmelet1[edit]

I have noticed some vandalism at David Loder. Namely, the article was recently completely rewritten without sources or wikilinks (which is how I came to notice the changes) and is now on a different person. Would an editor please assist me with fixing it? Thank you, TheOmelet1 (talk) 15:19, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@TheOmelet1: As far as I can tell, the changes have been reverted, assuming Loder is a horse trainer. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 16:01, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dark mode[edit]

Plz plz plz make dark mode available! All this white burns my eyes! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.69.227.193 (talk) 21:58, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

WP:DARK has some info. If you go to Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-gadgets there is a "Dark mode toggle" option you can use. You can also go to your commons.css page and paste in @import "https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Gadget-dark-mode.css&action=raw&ctype=text/css" screen and (prefers-color-scheme: dark); for a dark mode that turns on when your device is on dark mode. However, to get preferences and commons.css you must create an account which has many other benefits. 𝕸𝖗 𝕽𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 𝕿𝖚𝖗𝖙𝖑𝖊|🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦|☎️|📄 22:30, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
You can set it at Preferences -> Gadgets -> Dark Mode Toggle ColinFine (talk) 22:30, 5 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's worth noting that to use any of the above suggestions you will need to register an account. 163.1.15.238 (talk) 11:39, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
For reading articles on a mobile device, the Wikipedia app has dark and sepia themes. ⁓ Pelagicmessages ) 14:52, 8 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
