Can't view photos in articles.[edit]

For some reason, in Internet Explorer, if I click on a photo, all that I see is a black screen, nothing else. This is has been happening the past few days, though I have not been on Wikipedia in a long time, so the issue may have been caused long ago. It does not happen in Firefox or Chrome, so it must be something with IE, but I do not know what. Any ideas?

I have Norton on all three browsers, so that doesn't seem to be it. I also reset cookies and temporary internet files and it did not fix it.

Refreshing the screen causes me to arrive back at the original article, as if I closed the expanded photo box, but clicking the photo produces no box, no "x" to click, nothing. Also, clicking the photo does not change the web address to the photo. Normally, clicking the photo will cause the address in the address bar to change, such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatsworth_House changing to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chatsworth_House#/media/File:Chatsworth_Bridge.jpg. However, this does not happen in IE. If you can find a solution, let me know, perhaps also add a note to my talk page that a solution was found, so I do not forget to check it. Jonjames1986, update your IE version to the latest, then open Internet Explorer, click the tools icon in the top right-hand corner of the window, then select Internet Options -> Advanced tab -> Multimedia -> Settings -> Show Pictures and check the relevant box. Apply the changes; and then close and re-open the browser. This works most often. Lourdes 08:01, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jonjames1986: Exactly the same happens to me in IE and no other tested browser. I have the latest IE version 11.285.17134.0 with Show Pictures enabled. It happens both logged in and out. It only happens in Media Viewer which is seen by IP's and users with "Enable Media Viewer" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering. If you disable it then an image click goes directly to the file page instead. I haven't found other reports. I don't normally use IE and don't know when it started. @Jonjames1986 and PrimeHunter: Same happens in my IE (same version as PrimeHunter's). However, I'd like to add the problem is with switching to a new page, not with displaying it. When I go to Chatsworth House and click an image, the window becomes black and the address bar doesn't update – but when I copy the image destination URL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chatsworth_Bridge.jpg and paste it as an address, the page displays normally. Also, when I follow a link like File:Chatsworth Bridge.jpg, it works as usual. --CiaPan (talk) 11:41, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I've been getting the same problem with viewing images on IE the last few days. I have not updated my Windows (specifically Windows 7 SP1) nor IE (version 11 0.9600.16428) recently, and I've been using Wikipedia regularly for a while now, so unless my IE is so horridly out of date or I'm forgetting something, I suspect the issue is not on my side (or the sides of anyone else here) but on Wikipedia's. Has something been updated about viewing images on Wikipedia recently?

I also have Waterfox (a fork of Firefox), and in that browser images on Wikipedia display perfectly fine when I click on them. --Monster Iestyn (talk) 21:41, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This page, List of United States senators expelled or censured, was controversially moved without any previous discussion or debate. This was wrong. Shall the move be overturned?

You should have asked this question at the language reference desk, but since you're here, the move was correct and uncontroversial. "senators" should not be capitalized. See for example the AP stylebook entry for "legislative titles". Clarityfiend (talk) 05:37, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hey DefeatFraud. You may follow the directions here. However, you should note that a poorly written article is not normally a valid rationale for deletion. Rather, we generally delete articles because the subject does not meet Wikipedia's standards for notability, meaning that there are insufficient sources available for someone to, in principle, write a well sourced neutral article, even if that article has not yet been fully written. Displaying pictures in IE11[edit]

Hello, I can no longer display Wikipedia images in IE11. I haven't changed any settings, but maybe there's been a Windows update that's caused the problem. ISNI link returns blank page[edit]

the 4-H pledge[edit]

I once belonged to the 4-H and I remember taking that pledge before every meeting, but your article doesn't show the full proper pledge as I can remember it; I am talking about the original pledge. Granted, it has been years and I can not remember exactly how it goes but I know for a fact the God was mentioned in the pledge. And I remember some of it saying that I pledge my head to greater thinking and my hand to greater service for God and my country. I never said anything about club or any such thing like that. Why did an original Christian organization drop God from their pledge.?
