Banghushree Village[edit]

This request has been declined. Please do not modify it.

Banghushree is situated in Dang Deukhuri District of Midwestern region (Nepal). It is 52 km from Ghorahi. Ghorahi is Headquarter of dang district, banghushree is situated on Damodar Road insight 5 km from Mahendra highway. It is famous for local tourism. About this village, it is not associated with any historical event; however it is unique in many ways.

This is a small village with 200 houses, which includes the 3 houses of puri and 10 houses of brahamin and 35 houses of Kumal,20 houses from the lower castes and other are chhetris and magar. Though it is small village, but it is unique in its structure. Here everybody is dependable on each other. Most of the lands are owned by the landdloard , approximately about 80%. It is difficult for them to manage all the lands. Therefore they take the help of people from lower caste and Labour . In this unique way all castes are totally dependable on each other. Nobody can survive without the help of other.

Second unique thing about my village is its water system. This area is prone for water shortage. But the elders of village have very wisely constructed a small canal from a place 3 km away to the village. This canal was made by villagers with great contribution by late grand father kimlal puri. This canal includes 2 small bridges, made to avoid the contamination of water.

Due to this canal our village has not seen any water shortage. Third is the calm environment of my village. This calmness is like a meditation. One can hear the voice of river water two km away. People talks from km away can be heard. In cities, we will ever get this opportunity. Here one can hear nature talking to him and see lot of miracles of nature. I invite people to explore the beauty of my village and Dang District.

Maryoku yummy (the one with a picture)[edit]

This request has been declined. Please do not modify it.

Maryoku Yummy is a television series debuted on The Hub, which overtook Discovery Kids on October 10, 2010. The show is created by American Greetings, who owned other properties such as Strawberry Shortcake and Care Bears, while either also had their own show being aired on The Hub. Maryoku Yummy is set at a whimsical world known as Nozomu. There, wishes granted from children are sent here, although wishes are depicted as small creature like beings. The full beings of Nozomu are known as the 'Yummy', which is also used as a term for common sayings. Maryoku and her friends, Ooka and Fij Fij, go around Nozomu, doing everyday things and solve problems from their many other friends, such as playground 'leader' Hadagi, public watcher Shika, wish deliverer Bob, calm yummy leader Tapo Tapo, work duo Nonzi and Yuzu, cook Omoshi and assistant Jeppy, fitness coach Enro and wish doctor Zuno. So far the only wish not granted, but lives in Nozomu with the Yummies is a yellow and blue wish by the name of Fudan, who can talk unlike the other wishes. Hadagi has always thought she is the best wish sitter. Maryoku doesn't argue but I know that she thinks she is the best wish sitter.

Reason: There is already redirect from T.30 to Fax. Note that the T.38 page is redirect to T.38 ITU-T recommendation. It seems logical that there should be a redirect from the page you get by changing 8 to 0 in T.38 ITU-T recommendation.

P.S. T.37 is redirect to T.37 (ITU-T recommendation). But the page T.37 ITU-T recommendation does not exist. These are related protocols, so the easiest way to go from on page is to just change the number to another in the URL.

P.P.S. Maybe I am too logical and craving for too high level of consistency in thinking that all ITU-T specification actually would be nice to be presented in uniform way. This is awful lot of work to go through manually, but if it would be possible to create a script, then this would be easy.

Redirect request: Northwest Spine Clinic[edit]

This request has been declined. Please do not modify it.

Target of redirect: Northwest Spine Clinic

Reason: Unreliable Sources

Source (if applicable):

Junxit7 (talk) 18:26, 10 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Northwest Spine Clinic is a medical facility focused on neck and back treatments. Treatments include spinal decompression, oxygen therapies, chiropractic services, and laser therapy.

History The first clinic was founded in 2009 by Dr. David Birdsall D.C. in Seattle, WA on 925 8th Avenue North. It was one of the first spine clinics in Puget Sound to offer spinal decompression enhanced with oxygen therapy and Class IV Laser Pain Therapy.

In 2010, three additional clinics were opened in Federal Way, Lynnwood, and Redmond. In the same year, Birdsall opened a new clinic in Bellevue specializing in knee therapy, known as Northwest Knee Clinic.

Spine Treatments On their company’s website Northwest Spine Clinic gives a brief history of chiropractic services: The history of the chiropractor in the United States dates back just over 100 years ago, when modern day chiropractic was first adapted when the first adjustment was given by Dr. Daniel Palmer on September 18, 1895 (Wikipedia, Chiropractic History 2011).

Dr. Palmer, born in Canada in 1845, was very interested in the healing art and first learned about magnetic healing. This form of healing used the magnetism in the body. In 1886, Dr. Palmer opened his first office of magnetic healing in Burlington, Iowa. Then in 1887, he opened another office in Burlington, Iowa (Wikipedia, Daniel David Palmer 2011 )

With this new healing technique brought criticism, especially within the medical community, as it did not involve the traditional medical theory of health. For years, chiropractic was discredited and even referred to as quackery. A lot of this still goes on today, but this is due to misunderstanding. It wasn’t until the early 1970s that insurance companies started to recognize chiropractic as legitimate health care and allowed claims to be paid for chiropractic care (Association 2011, Chriopractic n.d.).

Chiropractic, meaning ‘done by hand’ in Greek, is an alternative, non-surgical healing art and science. The goal is to correct the once straight pathway of the nerve transmission by removing interruptions. These interruptions block nerve messages that transmit sensations and impulses. Chiropractors focus on manipulating vertebrae by adjusting subluxation and other misalignments to correct the blockages(About.com 2011). These manipulations are most often performed with some type of instrument or by the hands(Association 2011).

Safety Chiropractic is safe, non-invasive procedure when it is performed by a skilled professional. No treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic are small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, while some experience mild soreness or aching. Research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following spinal manipulation typically fades within 24 hours.

Some reports have associated upper high-velocity neck manipulation with a certain kind of stroke, or vertebral artery dissection, but recent evidence suggests that this type of arterial injury often spontaneously occurs, or happens after everyday activities such as turning the head while driving, or swimming. People with this condition may experience neck pain and headaches that causes them to seek medical care of a doctor of chiropractic or family physician. The care is not the cause of the injury. Evidence indicates that it is rare for the incidence of artery injuries to be associated with high-velocity upper neck manipulation. Research shows that it’s about 1 case per 5.85 million manipulations(Association 2011).

Spinal decompression is another service offered. The web site provides information regarding this treatment.

Spinal decompression is a treatment used to relieve pressure caused by a pinched nerve on the spinal column (Wikipedia 2010). This type of therapy is used in the event of a herniated disc, pinched nerve, spinal stenosis, degenerative discs, and bulging discs.

Discs are repositioned by the applied negative pressure. This process lifts the pressure off the spine and spinal nerves, which is applied by the protruding discs. There is a vacuum effect with this treatment that increases the flow of nutrients into the injured disc The end result is the production of a natural healing process (Wikipedia 2010).

Low level laser therapy uses nonthermal red-beams or infrared lasers with low wattage. The human skin does not absorb the light, allowing it to deeply penetrate the damaged tissues. LLLT is commonly known as cold laser therapy, and may be administered by different types of medical providers. Sedation and anesthesia is unnecessary in this procedure (Policy 2010).

Category request: Second request for Category:Post-hardcore and Category:Post-hardcore albums[edit]

This request has been accepted. Please do not modify it.

For the second time, I'm submitting these categories, following the example of Categories for punk rock subgenres (ie: Category:Post-punk/Category:Post-punk albums) and considering the vastness of Category:Post-hardcore groups and subcategories (as well as of the List of post-hardcore bands). Please notice how many of these bands tend to have categories of their own for their albums, but they only have so far too broad (and non-genre specific) categories (for example, At the Drive-In's albums' category barely has the "Albums by artist"/"Rock albums by American artists" categories, while, in contrast, categories such as Category:The Beatles albums are contained in categories such as Category:Pop rock albums).

As follows, both category requests, with some details:

Category:Post-hardcore:

Example articles which belong to this category:

Parent category/categories:

Category:Post-hardcore albums

Example articles which belong to this category: As we could see with, for example, the Category:Post-punk albums, this would be a mostly container category, including the albums categories of several post-hardcore bands (found both in the aforementioned Post-hardcore groups category and in the List of post-hardcore bands). A few examples go as follow (each one containing several album articles):

Some specific articles that I've found would belong to this category (due to their artists' relatively small discography, for which would be too messy to create an artist-specific album category of their own) include:

How fair is it to blame Austria-Hungary for the outbreak of World War One?

World war one was a tragic occurrence in history, in this essay I hope to inform you of how exactly it began and whether or not it is fair to blame Austria-Hungary for the outbreak of this awful thing. I will tell you of my personal opinions and on who I think it is fair to blame for the outbreak of World War one.
In some ways the Austrians shouldn’t be blamed for causing this conflict because in 1914 the heir to the Austrian throne, Franz Ferdinand visited Sarajevo to inspect Austrian troops in the town. Sarajevo was a province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. A lot of Serbians lived in Sarajevo and all wanted Bosnia to become part of Serbia. Franz Ferdinand’s visit that day was a very risky visit because there was a terrorist group called the ‘Black Hand’ in operation which Ferdinand knew about and arrested a suspected gunman in Sarajevo. On the way to the Town hall a bomb was thrown directly at Ferdinand and his wife’s open-top car. Luckily for Ferdinand, he caught the bomb and threw it away from the car with a cold glare toward the man who threw the bomb in the first place. But unfortunately, twenty (supposedly) innocent civilians found themselves in the way of the bomb, and were killed. When Ferdinand arrived at the Town Hall he was very angry and said to the Mayor ‘I come here on a visit and I get bombs thrown at me. It is outrageous.’ After that occurrence, Ferdinand decided to cancel the rest of his tour. He changed his route back to the station for safety reasons, however somehow his driver was not informed of this sudden change of plan and continued as normal and Ferdinand noticed during the journey that they were going the same way as originally planned and informed his driver. Meanwhile, in the Sandwich shop just opposite Ferdinand’s reversing car, was a member of the Black Hand, who saw this car with Ferdinand inside it, almost stationary, and took the opportunity of a perfect shot, took the shot. Therefore by 11:30pm, Ferdinand and his wife Sophie were dead. This would have given the Austrian’s a reason to issue an ultimatum to Serbia.
The Austrians could have been blamed for the outbreak of the First world war one because a lot of people say that the main cause of the first world war was because when Austria declared war on Serbia it was almost like dominos in that by declaring war on the Serbians it was giving other countries ideas and starting off a chain which eventually resulted in a massive World War. Another reason is because they had always wanted to crush Serbia. Austria feared that if the Serbs succeeded in uprising over the Austrian government and breaking free from there rule then the other nationalities in Austria like the Polish, Croatians and Ukrainians would also break off and make the Austria- Hungarian Empire weak. They therefore decided that it would be best to attempt to crush Serbia, and so when the Serbian terrorist group "Black Hand" shot Franz Ferdinand Austria had nothing else to do to respond but to send an ultimatum to Serbia expecting it not to be accepted. And when Serbia accepted all but one of Austria's ultimatum demands (which were brutal and hard to comply with) Austria declared war against Serbia. So you could say that the Austrians were to blame for the outbreak of the First World War because they were the first nation to proclaim war.
There are various other reasons for how the First World War started. For example, European conflict was averted largely due to a carefully planned network of treaties between the German Empire and the remainder of Europe-orchestrated by Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck, first Prime Minister of Prussia and then Chancellor of the German Empire. Bismarck had set about the construction of Germany through high politics judiciously assisted by war against Austria and France. This network of alliances caused tyranny amongst the Triple Entente and other European countries and Empires.

The four main steps to the outbreak of world war one were First of all Austria declaring war on Serbia What was Austria-Hungary to do? It is important to realise that Austria hated Serbia anyway. Nationalism threatened the very existence of the 'polyglot empire', and the Austrian Chief of Staff General Hotzendorf had asked for a 'surprise' war to destroy Serbia more than 25 times in the eight years after 1906.So the assassination was used by Austria as an opportunity to sort out the Serbs on the 5th July: Austria-Hungary approached the Germans and got a promise (called the 'blank cheque') that they could rely on Germany's support.

23rd July: The Austro-Hungarian government sent Serbia an ultimatum containing ten really tough demands. Failure to meet all of these demands, they said, would result in war. (They expected Serbia to reject the ultimatum, which would give Austria-Hungary an excuse to invade.) 25th July: But the Serb government did not reject the ultimatum. Instead it sent a reply in which it agreed to everything except part of demand 6. It was so civil that, after reading it, Kaiser Wilhelm wrote on 28 July: 'the reply amounted to a capitulation in the humblest style, and with it there disappeared all reason for war'. 28th July: Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.

 Secondly, Russia Mobilising.

The Serbs had wrong-footed the Austrians. Whereas, on 28 June, everyone in the world had supported the Austrians, now they looked unfair, unreasonable and war-mad. As the Austrian army shelled Belgrade (the capital of Serbia) the Serbians called up their army and asked their ally, Russia, for help. What was Russia to do? 24th July: Russia did not want war. The Russian Grand Council decided - if Serbia was invaded - not to give military support, but to appeal to a conference of the Great Powers. Even the mad Rasputin warned that a war would destroy Russia. 29th July: But the Tsar Nicholas had already let down Serbia in the Bosnian crisis of 1908. And - he told the Kaiser in a telegram - it was a matter of right and wrong. Nicholas decided to mobilise his army. 31st July: At first, Nicholas hoped to mobilise only against Austria-Hungary, but -when his generals told him that this was impossible - he was forced to order a general mobilisation (against Germany as well as Austria-Hungary). However, he sent a telegram to the Kaiser assuring him that the mobilisation was not against Germany.

The third main reason was Germany’s response ( The Schleiffen plan)

What was Germany to do? To allow a country to mobilise against you without response, said the Germans, was like allowing someone to hold a loaded gun to your head without doing anything.

Of course, the Germans knew what they were going to do. They had had a plan - called the Schlieffen Plan after the German Chief of Staff Alfred von Schlieffen.
The Schlieffen Plan was Germany's Plan for mobilisation. It was based on three ideas:
     1. If there was a war, Germany would have to fight France and Russia.

2. France was weak (Germany had defeated France in ten weeks in 1870). 3. Russia was strong but slow (Schlieffen estimated that it would take Russia 6 weeks to mobilise her army).

The Schlieffen Plan, therefore, was developed as a huge hammer blow at Paris, using 90% of the German army, which would take France out of the war quickly (allowing Germany to transport its army back across Germany to fight Russia). It is important to realise that the Schlieffen Plan for mobilisation was a plan of attack - so Germany mobilising, and Germany going to war, were one and the same thing. And the Schlieffen Plan did not allow for a situation like that in 1914. Things were going wrong for Germany - Russia was mobilising, but France showed no sign of going to war to help the Russians. Now Russia was mobilising and was going to be ready too soon - every day that passed gave the Russian army one more day to get ready. When the German Chancellor Bethmann-Hollweg asked General Moltke: 'Is the Fatherland in danger?' the reply was: 'Yes'.

1st August: The Kaiser, therefore, gave the order to mobilise and Germany declared war on Russia. 3rd August: claiming that French planes had bombed the German town of Nuremberg, Germany declared war on France. 4th August: with German troops on the march to invade France, the French declared war on Germany.

And lastly, England declaring war on Germany:

The British Foreign Secretary, Sir Edward Grey, had spent the crisis trying to get the different countries to negotiate - Lloyd George described him as being like the weak chairman of tempestuous committee: 'calling out in an appealing but not compelling voice: "Order! Order".'

1ts August: Grey proposed to Germany that Britain would stay neutral if Germany did not attack France. Kaiser Wilhelm wanted to agree, but when he tried to halt the invasion, his generals told him that he couldn't. 2nd August: The Schlieffen Plan had an error. It planned for the German army, when it attacked France, to go through Belgium. The day after declaring war on Russia, therefore, the Germans asked permission for their army to pass through Belgium. The Belgians refused! So the next day, Germany invaded Belgium. 4th August: Britain was obliged (by the Treaty of Washington, 1839) to help Belgium in the event of an invasion. Therefore, Britain sent Germany an ultimatum demanding, by midnight, a German promise to withdraw from Belgium. The Germans were amazed: 'For a scrap of paper, Great Britain is going to make war?' asked Bethmann-Hollweg.

That night, crowds gathered in Parliament Square in London. As Big Ben struck 11 pm (midnight in Berlin) they sang God Save the King, and then ran home crying: 'War! War! War!' As Grey watched the crowds leave, he commented: 'The lights are going out all over Europe: we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime'

In conclusion , in my opinion in some ways it is fair to blame Austria-Hungary for the outbreak of the first world war because by starting the war with Serbians it set off a chain of nations falling out which lead to a load of wars breaking out, all forming together to create the first world war. However I can understand why the Austrians did declare war on the Serbians because. What else were they to do?

However I think it would be impossible to think only one nation was to blame for it because they all played their part in creating this big war and if Britain, Germany, France and Russia hadn’t just joined in and created wars of their own, they would have never all joined together to create one big war.

I'm surprised that there's no category for this and there may be literally dozens of examples. I didn't want to restrict to film, so this list can include TV series, and print media. There is heavy overlap with Category:Criminal comedy films, but it is by no means either-or - plenty of films can belong to both genres.

Sorry if this list is a bit disorganized, but it's a random collection based on what I was able to remember and find with a quick search.

Tucker McCall is a fictional character on the CBS soap opera The Young and the Restless originated by actor William Russ on December 2, 2009 who played the role until January 26, 2010. Veteran soap actor Stephen Nichols took over the role on January 27, 2010.[1]

    Comings and Goings
Russ originated the role, but was replaced by Nichols due to a change in character direction, according to Maria Arena Bell.[1] Nichols, who began taping for the role on December 17, 2009, described Tucker as "a self-made success, a regular guy who can tend bar and shoot pool and talk s--t with anybody. He’s very unassuming in many ways."[2]

    Brief Character History
Tucker McCall was introduced as the employer of J.T. Hellstrom. He pursued a business deal with Katherine Chancellor and a romantic relationship with Jill Foster Abbott. After taking over control of Katherine's company, Chancellor Industries, Tucker revealed that he is the son Katherine gave away years ago and has planned revenge against her for years. Over the following few months, Tucker softened his animosity towards Katherine and the two occasionally speak. After acquiring Chancellor Industries, Tucker eventually lost control of the company when Victor Newman bought the company from him with the help of his son, Adam Newman, who briefly worked at Tucker's company and broke into his office and stole information. Victor immediately turned Chancellor Industries back over to Katherine, but later Tucker blackmailed Katherine into returning him ownership of the company by threatening to report Victor to the authorities for breaking and entering and theft. It was discovered that Tucker's success started when he was managing a band and bribed the Cultural Minister of Yugoslavia with a rare painting. Katherine found out about this but did not report it however it came out and Tucker was investigated by the Department of Justice. When Malcolm Winters returned to town, he was later revealed to be working undercover for Tucker, who had something on him. In July 2010, Malcolm's fiancee, Sofia Dupre, arrived in town working on business for Tucker, who is her boss. Tucker is now romantically involved with Ashley Abbott. During Tucker and Ashley's relationship, they conspired in investigating shady business deals conducted between Victor and Japanese officials. In addition, Tucker did have a short affair with Diane Jenkins before she ended up remarrying Victor. Before Christmas 2010, Tucker proposed marriage to Ashley and she accepted.

Unknown to Ashley Tucker is secretly working with her half-brother Jack Abbott to take Newman Enterprises cosmetics subsidiary Beauty of Nature away from Victor Newman and merge it with Jabot Cosmetics by helping Abby Newman, Victoria Newman Abbott, and Nicholas Newman in their lawsuit against Victor. In return Tucker has made Jack co-CEO of Jabot. However, it must get Beauty of Nature to be continue. Little did, Jack know but, Tucker was offering Victoria the same thing. Whoever gets Beauty of Nature first will be CEO of the new merged company. Ashley ends up learning the truth about Tucker's deals with Jack in regards to Abby, and her relationship with Tucker seemed to be nearing an end. However, they work it out as long as her daughter will never be used again in his business deals. Jack has been nervous fearing losing Jabot to a Newman. Ashley, however, is confident that Jabot will remain strongly connected to the Abbotts, especially if she marries Tucker.

Abby, Nick and Victoria end up winning their lawsuit and everyone is waiting for Victor to turn over Beauty of Nature. However, he vows against it. Tucker's mother, Katherine Chancellor Murphy, ends up learning about Tucker's deals with Jack, and vows to destroy him. She wants to help Victor take Tucker down. Nonetheless, Victor ends up surprising everyone when he announced that Newman Enterprises will no longer be a privately-held company;it will be public. This leaves many shocked, noting how for decades Victor vowed against doing this.

Life of Lennon's bodyguard By Kent Hill Photos by Chen Lixin

Gary Mair was born in Germany, 1946 and raised in the United States. He has had a colorful life working for big companies like IBM and spending two years as John Lennon's bodyguard. He currently lives on Gulangyu Island relaxing before he starts his work at Xiamen University.

Usually, when you sit down to write an article it's pretty hard to come up with a good introduction. However, when the article you're writing is about someone like one of John Lennon's former bodyguards then it's a different case entirely. He's a tall, sharp dressing man named Gary Mair, with a New York accent and roots trailing all the way over to Germany. His background is extremely interesting and maybe the most interesting part of it is the two years he spent working as the protector and friend of the most famous Beatle in the world.

Gary was born in Germany in 1946 but raised in the US, and maybe traveling so far at such a young age is where his passion for traveling came from. When Gary was in high school he decided to follow his love of traveling in the most practical way possible - by getting a job that would pay him to travel. So he wasted no time enrolling to become an officer of the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) in Texas' Fort Bliss Military Police School, which gave him a huge opportunity to travel all over the world. After working as a CID officer he took the opportunity to join the New York City police force where he stayed for about two years.

When he was working as a police officer he came across two job opportunities, both asking for qualified bodyguards to protect VIPs; the ads didn't mention who the VIPs were however. After making the appropriate phone calls it turned out that one of the ads was for Hugh Hefner (the owner of Playboy magazine) and the other was for John Lennon. Gary was married at the time and chuckled saying, "When my wife found out who the clients were, she said I had to choose John Lennon."

    Bodyguard of a VIP

His stint working for Lennon lasted from 1969-71 and left him with a lifetime worth of captivating stories to tell and look back upon.

When Gary started as bodyguard in 1969 he was making USD 1,000 per week. At that time Lennon had already gotten married to Yoko. After being asked about his feelings towards Yoko, Gary said, "I didn't like Yoko at all," and then added, with a quick gesture towards his head, "She was crazy." While he was working for John, Gary was not only his protector but also his good friend. He said that he would help him get away from Yoko and do his own things. He reflected on one example of this saying, "She tried to turn John into a vegetarian, so I would wait until she was asleep and help him sneak out to McDonalds and get hamburgers."

    Closer look at Lennon

Being anyone's bodyguard for two years would bring you pretty close to that person and give you an unusually intimate understanding of them, especially in Mair's case since he was around John working for sometimes 72 hours at a time. When questioned about what Lennon was like the first thing Gary said was, "He didn't care about money at all. He used to buy USD 50,000 Persian rugs at auctions and then put them on his castle floor in England for people to step on." Gary has a lot of stories to tell about Lennon's complete disregard for money.

Something really interesting is that Lennon never actually carried any money on his person at anytime. Anytime he needed to buy something, Gary had to buy it for him. Mair said that one time he was driving John and his friends down the road and as they passed a car dealership one of John's friends mentioned that he liked one of the cars. The star asked Gary to pull into the dealership and buy the car for his friend, just like that.

John used to dress casually no matter where he went. He would wear a sweater and a pair of trousers and never formal dress clothes no matter what the occasion was and refused to dress any differently. One time Gary took John and Yoko to a well-known Italian restaurant in The Village in New York. They were going into the restaurant when the doorman stopped them and told John that he couldn't enter the restaurant without a suit and tie and after an argument still refused to let them enter. So John contacted the owner of the restaurant and purchased the entire establishment for 2.5 million USD, went back to the restaurant as the new owner and tried once again to have dinner there. The same doorman refused to let him in again so John, being his new boss, fired him on the spot. He sold the restaurant two weeks later for 1.5 million USD.

Eventually the questions came to what, unfortunately, is probably the most famous point in Lennon's career - his assassination, December 8, 1980. It turns out that at the time he was killed he had no bodyguard. Gary said, "I told him he needed a bodyguard but he wouldn't listen. He just said, ‘Nobody's gonna do anything to me man. Nobody wants to hurt me.'" This subject inspired the former bodyguard to tell another anecdote about how the work he did for Lennon affected his life afterwards.

At the time of John Lennon's assassination Mair was working at IBM laboratories in Germany. Shortly after the sullen news of the star's murder had spread across the globe, reporters from newspapers, magazines, radio stations and TV shows swarmed his office in Germany. He said, "Actually, my boss at the time was quite upset because there were so many reporters coming to interview me that it was actually disrupting the work there."

    After the job was done

In 1972 after he had finished his work for Lennon he attended Yale University where he studied Computer Science and English Literature. In 1976 he received his PHD in both subjects and continued on in his career with computers. However, Gary's work with computers involves mainframes, not PCs and he mentioned while talking about his work, "I like to work with ‘real' computers [mainframes], not the toys [PCs] that are out there."

Most recently Mair worked two years for IBM as a mainframe consultant. After that, Gary's journey finally brought him to China (number 47 on his list of countries that he has been to), which is appropriate considering that he studied Chinese history, tradition and politics for forty years prior to arriving here. The first city he lived in China was Zhengzhou of Henan Province where he met his Chinese girlfriend.

Currently he is living on Gulangyu Island where he will be relaxing for the next three months waiting to start his "at least" one-year contract at Xiamen University teaching IT.

Gary Mair has had an interesting life so far, working for big companies like IBM, spending time as John Lennon's bodyguard and earning PHDs through higher education. Luckily for us though, his interesting life is continuing here in Xiamen, which will surely brighten and enhance the experience of anyone he comes in contact with.

Juliebrignac (talk) 16:30, 31 March 2011 (UTC) Mr. B's Bistro is located in the heart of the French Quarter (201 Royal Street, New Orleans, 70130). It is presently owned and operated by Cindy Brennan. Mr. B's is regarded as the "Brennan's Signature" restaurant in the French Quarter(Zagat). It has been named the 2010 number one Gourmet Creole Bistro (Tom Fitzmorris). The building was built in the 1860's and this corner has been a New Orleans landmark. In 1868, this once quiet corner was transformed into Solari's Market. New Orleanians came from all over town to visit the soda fountain/lunch counter and to shop in the specialty gourmet grocery which also specialized in rare liquors, exquisite candy and imported cookies. Solari's closed it's doors in 1965. Fourteen years later in 1979 Cindy Brennan and her famous restaurant family opened Mr. B's and it's a true French Quarter frixture famous for deft cooking of regional specialties in a warm bistro setting. Since it's inception Mr. B's has been an integral part of an on-going process of redefining New Orleans cooking by utilizing South Louisiana's endless potential of indigenous ingredients to create a style of cooking referred to as "Creole Cuisine". Paul Prudhomme is a famous alumni chef of Mr. B's having been the opening chef. His dishes include the famous Gumbo Ya Ya (chicken and andouille sausage). Chef Michelle McRaney has been at the helm of the kitchen since 1995 and Mr. B's is under the direction of longtime General Manager Randy Stein, a 40 plus year veteran of the industry. Mr. B's has been lauded for their consistently vibrant Louisiana food and impeccable yet friendly service by Food & Wine, Gourmet, Travel and Leisure, and Bon Appetit. Among many dignitaries, three presidents have dined at Mr. B's; Ronald Regan, George W. Bush, William Jefferson Clinton. Mr. B's suffered catastrophic damage in August 2005 due to Hurricane Katrina and was closed for 20 months for a full renovation. The restaurant re-opened it's doors on April 16, 2007.[reply]
