Wikipedia:April Fools/April Fools' Day 2022

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As a result of this record number of joke nominations, 2022 AFDs are split into 2 separate parts.

Wikipedians participating in the April Fools Day festivities also held an informal poll from the end of the 1st through the 3rd to determine the best Articles for Deletion nomination.

Deletion nominations[edit]

Articles for deletion (Part 1 and Part 2)[edit]

Big was closed for Don't make it bigger anymore as per MOS:FONTSIZE. Small was closed for the opposite reason.
...and then the nomination subpage itself got blanked.
The Gettysburg Address was dropped once per WP:IDL.
The AfD only added more 🗿.
...and then the nomination subpage itself appeared to be blanked, although it was actually just hidden.
The Planet of the Apes nomination was then rotated by five degrees.
The Planet of the Apes nomination was then rotated by 420 degrees.
It was then rotated 2001 degrees by a very angry ape.
And then 1968 degrees
And then 69 degrees
And then NEGATIVE 69 degrees.
Then it was turned upside-down by ANOTHER angry ape.
Then the apes had a change of heart.
Then the ape who had a change of heart rotated it to 270 degrees.
Then the text went back to normal while the ape got on a horse and left the building.
After a non-canonical
skew
of the text, GPT-2 summoned more bots to the discussion.
And then the nomination was itself nominated for deletion to stop the apes from taking over the Earth
Then Wikipe-tan died on the page.
Then she was brought back to life.
And then died again.
Then the angry apes came back.
Then the nomination was ceremoniously rotated 100000 degrees
Then the text was
skewed
again, but by 260 degrees.
As a result of such acts of vandalism on the page, a request for comment was started to prevent it in the future.
After a few reversions of the skewed text, the picture of the ape was replaced with SMPTE color bars to put the chaos to temporary rest.
The color bars were replaced by a different ape. Links on the page to Planet of the Apes also turned red around this time.
Then the ape started spinning.
Then it blew up.
The Angry Apes have returned!
And then the apes from 2001 took over.
Then EA Sports took over the WHOLE page
Then it was rotated by 2001 degrees
Not long after that, both the ape from 2001 AND the 5 hour energy people spun very fast.
And then the 2001 apes had enough of the spinning.
And then an angry child got angry for editing his page, subsequently reviving the gorilla
The Angry apes finally listened
Then something sussy appeared, making the angry apes more angry.
The nomination ended with being deleted for not being an article in the first place.
The result was muted for triggering the Discord bots.
"Normal" on this was liked to Speed Racer
The link then later changed to Running in the 90s
Then it was changed to Bicycle Race

These will be a subpage of the page you are on right now, such as Wikipedia:April Fools/April Fools' Day 2022/Generic acid, as they would be deleted as a hoax anywhere else.

Main Page[edit]

The main page participated again in the April fools. The featured article for this day is Coropuna, documenting a dormant volcano in the Andes. The featured picture shows Hippos from Chobe National Park in Botswana. DYK once again served an assortment of humorous entries. The featured place is Columbia, South Carolina. The random article of the day is Hungry ghost.

XFD poll[edit]

Visual bar graph of the amount of votes each joke nominations received

This page lists the top XfDs from the survey. A total of 43 responses were submitted during the survey period. Two responses were removed because it did not name a specific XfD.

  1. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Planet of the Apes
  2. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Toki Pona (5th nomination)
  3. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/E, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Tic-tac-toe, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Up (2009 film) are all tied for third place.
  4. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Censorship, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/First and Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User talk:Jimbo Wales (2nd nomination) are tied for fourth place.

The rest of the XfDs had too few votes and are thus not listed above, instead the table below shows the count of each page nominated for deletion.
