  • Range is now blocked, closing. Magnatyrannus: per policy, CU will not be run to connect an account to an IP. Also, if someone's posting on an admin's talk page and admitting that they're a sock, it's generally not necessary to report them to SPI. The real account "Manideepa Banik" was making disruptive editing in United Bengal and one admin blocked the account for that in 7 January. Then another account "SB Studies" was created 2 days ago and the new account started to editing the article same way. The new account even reverted this edit. Here I removed the infobox because this infobox has materials that actually original research. The account was created after three days of blocking Manideepa Banik. And if you compare their contribution then you will see that they have same editing behavior. They both like to edit articles of Indian states and its neighbouring countries. The new account already got warnings for their editing. I believe that the persons' intention is not bad. I also believe that that person can be a good wikipedian if the person can understand how Wikipedia works. But they are doing sockpuppetry and we can't let them do that. I think this links back to a previous string of socks:-

I'm not sure if this should be relisted under Srimonbanik2007 (talk · contribs) and I'm not sure how to do that in any case.

I can see why Shaan Sengupta believes that Marxist Economist, Indian Marxist Politician, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee BJP are all the same person. Marxist Economist added a file to the article that had been uploaded on Commons 6 minutes earlier. This was reverted a few hours later, and (as far as I can see) nobody else added it to the article until Atal Bihari Vajpayee BJP did.

Is a Wikipedia checkuser able to check Commons edits? If yes, please could they also check Indian Marxist Politician who only edits Commons. -- Toddy1 (talk) 09:34, 3 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

In the following series of edits, Indian Marxist Politician uploaded or reverted photographs on Commons and Marxist Economist edited Wikipedia a minute later to use the photographs. New account created after the latest set of socks was blocked. Most telling is the history at Next Indian general election in Tripura - [11]. Most of the heavy editing there was by Marist Economist and socks, and now George Simon Ohm has taken that over. The overlap of George with the two sock accounts is pretty significant [12]. I just now noticed one similar thing. A previous sock of the master George Simon Ohm and suspected user Happyjit Singh sometimes write their replies in Capital letters.

Thanks for filing this. I had written out a long report a few hours ago and then my computer froze and I lost it all! I just noticed Happyjit Singh because I watch the Move log fairly closely and they did some article moves I had questions about. Then I looked at articles they edited like Next West Bengal Legislative Assembly election and others that both Happyjit Singh and Marxist Economist's socks also edited. I went to Shaan Sengupta's User talk page to suggest they file this SPI report after looking at the sock talk pages and noticing that Shaan Sengupta had lots of interactions with all of them, patiently trying to correct their mistakes like incorporating original research and messing up the formatting of tables. Looking at the page histories of about a half dozen articles they all had in common, I have no doubt that this is a return of Marxist Economist even though they change their biography on their User page with each new sock. Don't false claim. I don't know that user. Yes, I'm interested in election pages but not so in Tripura. My edits are concentrated with Maharashtra and Bengal. I found this user closer to that user User:Ram Mahan Yadav. He created Communist Party of India (Marxist), West Bengal page previously that user created Communist Party of India (Marxist), Tripura and Moreover he reintroduced Next Tripura Legislative Assembly election. Moreover, he edit articles related to CPIM. I edit mostly in election related articles because it require no extra knowledge or imformation. I would have upload it in all states but I didn't get time. I uploaded it first in Bengal because it was already improved. All states have Lok Sabha seat captured by single party or alliance but it has three or four alliances. I don't have any political affrication I just like educated people like Kejriwal as PM. I live in Delhi that why I support Kejriwal I even voted for BJP in Lok Sabha. I studied in Bengal that why I know few basic Bengali. I can speak Urdu as well and basic Marathi. I had been associated with SFI in my collage days that why I earlier supported Communist ideology now I support centrist parties. I edit on varying times. I edit pages related to Bengal Maharashtra and Bihar. Tripura is far behind.

I hope first four points only might be enough to run a check. Still I have provided two similarities, more can be found in contributions history. Just like the previous socks this too sometimes uses capital/block letters to stress on their points. I believe some sleepers too may be possible, so a CU request. I would also request a revdel to all their edits while this evasion since its hard and time consuming for me to go on every page and do it manually when admins can do it with tools available with them. Not too sure about Soumava2002. One of the habits of SB2007 socks is they like certain headers. See [40] when the SB2007 changes the header. Then Soumava2002 edits a few hours later and goes back to the prior header format [41]. Here's where Soumava2002 added to the header [42] followed immediately a SB sock removing it [43]. The old socks were trying to keep the field [70] and it was last removed well before this new account was created. The timelines overlapping is natural, when a national election is getting close many inactive editors start editing those articles.   • Same editing area (Bengal related) [144]. Note the similar increase in pop figures to 300 million [145] [146].
  • Note inflammatory phrase used as a username "اردو بولنے والے ملا" means "Urdu speaking Mullah". 'Mullah' is used derogatorily in South Asia.
  • Note the nationalism in the sandbox "Republic of Bengal" "Republic of Assam". Note the formation dates '1 January 2025'. Alludes to some kind of a secessionist activity over the internet.
  • ID's first edit was immediately after the last sock was blocked. They knew that some of the pages, including Bengalis are protected, hence used other edits to get autoconfirmed status.
