The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) ComplexRational (talk) 00:24, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ambiguous title. The "Cyberspace Administration" could refer to various topics beyond the administration of China. Utopes (talk / cont) 22:02, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep. I can't find any use which doesn't relate to the PRC (Google search string 'Cyberspace Administration -china'). Narky Blert (talk) 13:07, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. I created the redirect. Almost all mentions of 'Cyberspace Administration' mean 'Cyberspace Administration of China' but many use alternative forms, such as 'China's Cyberspace Administration' or 'the national cyberspace administration', which a searcher might well reduce to the two words but would be less likely to construct the full four-word name. Therefore the redirect is useful. I do note that other, province-level, cyberspace adminstrations exist within China (eg. here), but they are a rarity and not yet mentioned in WP. The term is seemingly not applied outside of China. One day, someone may turn 'Cyberspace Administration' or 'Cyberspace administration' (lower-case a) into a disambig page, but for now it does a good job. - Onanoff (talk) 21:24, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Iorn[edit]

The result of the discussion was disambiguate. Deryck C. 13:53, 1 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I gave this one the benefit of doubt because of pageviews, but now I suspect that those users are looking for something else. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 21:51, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Homophonic with Jorn and Yorn, therefore ambiguous as to what Iorn is a misspelling of. Narky Blert (talk) 13:11, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate. There used to be only two potential targets for "Iorn", being Iorn Uldbjerg and Elizabeth Iorns, (as well as a mention at Erin that "Iorn" is a variant of the name). However, over the last 1 1/2 to 2 hours, I translated my first article of Iorn Pio from the Danish Wikipedia to the English Wikipedia so that there would be three viable targets and enough to disambiguate. It was exceptionally difficult because I don't speak Danish. Logical typos can be listed in a "See Also" section. Utopes (talk / cont) 03:00, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per Utopes. signed, Rosguill talk 20:47, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Jewish Maoism[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. signed, Rosguill talk 01:56, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

While Jewish Maoism would logically belong under the larger umbrella of the Jewish left, there's no discussion of it at the article, and I couldn't find relevant discussion elsewhere, so this will probably disappoint readers. BDD (talk) 21:15, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it makes any sense. The Jewish Left makes sense because there have been left-wing Jewish organizations and Jewish people who joined left-wing parties and remained a self-identified group within them, often publishing Yiddish language periodicals and holding meetings in Yiddish. But while some Jews no doubt became Maoists in the 1960s, there was no Jewish Maoism, just Maoists who happened to be Jewish. TFD (talk) 23:08, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think what TFD said makes sense. Is Jewish Maoism a thing? A quick Google search gives just forum chat bullshit like Maybe Zionism is the Jewish Maoism in the sense you suggest. or A Jew trying to make Jews into Chinese to cover up for Jewish Maoism. LOL. --MarioGom (talk) 09:28, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Delete per TFD and MarioGom. There's no such concept. פֿינצטערניש (Fintsternish), she/her (talk) 13:26, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Racial homogeneity[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. I'm interpreting CoffeeWithMarket's call to write a new article about the concept as a delete vote, making this unanimous. signed, Rosguill talk 20:47, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I was looking for a discussion of racial/ethnic homogeneity and a list or discussion of which countries have more or less racial and ethnic diversity. The closest thing I've been able to find to that is Monoethnicity, but race isn't necessarily same as ethnicity, so I don't know if that's a suitable target. At this point, I'd be ok with retargeting there or deleting. (Note that the section this redirect targets is no longer there.) BDD (talk) 21:07, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment - This appears as if it needs to be its own conceptual article. There are at least three fundamental questions worth pondering. One: what exactly is 'race' in terms of a social construct today, given all that we know about human development? Two: what would make a racial group 'homogeneous' in the broad sense since, of course, people aren't milk and the definition of the term is vague? Three: given that racial groups vary in terms of the ease of which individuals are or aren't accepted into its fold, what effects are there on the lives of real people, positive or negative, of the relative homogeneity of their race? I'd be astonished if there aren't reliable sources looking at these matters from a scholarly perspective. Yes, the topic is emotionally loaded and politically radioactive, but it's also well studied. I think. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 07:13, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete to encourage article creation. I agree with CoffeeWithMarkets in that reliable sources discussing this topic shouldn't be impossible to find. Not a very active user (talk) 15:33, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A case exactly to my point (and fixed before I saw it). Fair old bit of vandalism going on in Sanjeev Kumar by the sight of it, including a change of DoB from 1938 to 1998. Wbm1058 looks to be on top of that. Narky Blert (talk) 23:59, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Typo in disambiguative qualifier. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 19:42, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

What does the phrase "disambiguative qualifier" mean please? S a g a C i t y (talk) 19:52, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See Template:R from unnecessary disambiguation. I remembered a similar wording to be used somewhere, now found the source. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 20:07, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@1234qwer1234qwer4: Thanks for explaining how pinging works, this is my first ping where someone hadn't pinged me first in the same conversation. OcelotCreeper (talk) 20:56, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm happy to fix these, if somebody throws the "page mover" right my way. Dr. Vogel (talk) 20:12, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
That comment shows why you should not be getting page mover thrown your way. See WP:MOVEREDIRECT for an explanation why it is generally advisable not to move redirects. -- Tavix (talk) 20:19, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • How exactly would this right help with deleting these pages? 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 20:20, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • Sorry, I misread what the problem was. I thought it was just the case of moving them to the titles with the correct spelling. Was just trying to be helpful. Dr. Vogel (talk) 20:35, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all — Each of these targets has a correctly spelled version. These misspelled redirects are not (and should not) be used in article-space links, and are highly unlikely to be typed into a search. — Gorthian (talk) 21:00, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per WP:RDAB. User:DPL bot flags links through misspelt (disambiguation) qualifiers as WP:INTDAB errors. To DABfixers, they're a pest. (re-signing) Narky Blert (talk) 13:20, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merged nominations of such redirects from moves now as well and left the discussions (which were mostly only the nomination description) as a comment. 1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 22:29, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all per WP:RDAB. Not helpful for searches, and not helpful for repairing links to disambiguation pages. Hog Farm (talk) 23:16, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Damayanti (disambiguaton). This redirect was left over from when I recently moved that page to the correct spelling of "disambiguation," and seems like search bar clutter now. Regards, SONIC678 01:05, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. This isn't even WP:CHEAP, and might confuse readers who don't know the word 'syndrome'. Narky Blert (talk) 21:06, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I’m not sure about deletion due to the redirect working phonetically since the e in syndrome is silent and therefore the word sounds like syn drom. I also noticed that Syndrom redirects to Syndrome since late 2018 due to the creator believing forgetting the e in syndrome was a common misspelling.--69.157.252.96 (talk) 22:15, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak delete per nom. People do occasionally double capitalize by holding the shift key, but the redirect is still unnecessary from my perspective. Utopes (talk / cont) 15:37, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. A unnecessary redirect for a typographical error (if you're searching using URLs you need to be more careful: we can't possibly have redirects for every typo, or even for every miscapitalisation of a second letter). Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:29, 26 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Week keep (INdiana only) INdiana may not always be a typo. Lots of state government websites use the capital IN styling for various things. See for example Healthy Rivers INitiative, or the JustIN controversy from the end of Mike Pence's term as governor. This is a soft redirect to the Japanese article about this person, who appears to have been an early 20th century Japanese painter. I don't believe interlanguage redirects are appropriate in article space, however there is no speedy deletion criteria that applies. This should either be replaced by an English language article or deleted. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 15:25, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete unless someone decides to create an article. The redirect as is isn’t helpful because even if an average English Wikipedia user had an interest in this person they wouldn’t be a fluent enough reader of Japanese to get any use out of the redirect.--69.157.252.96 (talk) 17:12, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, and I would argue that A3 does apply. It's an external link, not a redirect. —Xezbeth (talk) 17:17, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Convert into an article so users of the English Wikipedia can learn about this individual. Regards, SONIC678 17:50, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
A discussion should be open for seven days so there is still time to do so before deletion and even if not ann article could still be created after the deletion occurs.--69.157.252.96 (talk) 22:29, 23 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment I boldly moved this to Draft, but I should have seen the notice and commented here instead; I have no complaints if it needs to be moved back for procedural reasons. I was also unsure of what CSD might fit and appreciate User:Xezbeth's argument. I have no prejudice against an English article if notability can be shown, but a soft redirect to the Japanese Wiki doesn't seem appropriate. If discussion turns to keep, I suggest a soft redirect to wikidata:Q11568738, since it can be read in English and link to all other projects that have content. —Ost (talk) 16:59, 24 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Ost316:. I've reverted your move per WP:MOVEREDIRECT. I'm not sure I see why moving the redirect to draftspace makes any sense. You mentioned in the move log it's because it's undersourced—but it's not an article so there naturally wouldn't be any sources. -- Tavix (talk) 00:59, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
      • The undersourced portion is that standard message with the Draft tool, which still seemed valid on a page with no content that I thought was likely a placeholder until the article was created. I should have been more clear that that was my assumption. If the intention is a permanent soft redirect, then I don't think that the page is appropriate. —Ost (talk) 16:39, 25 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, unless there is an appropriate local page to retarget this to. Sending readers to non-English content is not helpful. Additionally, the plain soft redirect template is not used in the mainspace.
