January 9[edit]

This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on January 9, 2018.

The Little Mermaid (2017 film)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. -- Tavix (talk) 17:08, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The film was not and will not be released in 2017. Steel1943 (talk) 16:21, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as failed crystal. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:31, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. It was at this title for nine months, and in the two-odd weeks since redirection this page has gotten 12,000 hits. There's a risk of breaking incoming links from external sites. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 18:19, 29 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Incoming links can be moved to the 2018 film as there will stlll be interest in an upcoming film. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:56, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Valid {{R from move}}. This is a redirect from a page that has been moved (renamed). This page was kept as a redirect to avoid breaking links, both internal and external, that may have been made to the old page name. Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:02, 31 December 2017 (UTC) Can be tagged as {{R unprintworthy}}. Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:03, 31 December 2017 (UTC) Still receiving 100 views a day, pretty good views for a redirect. It was at the title long enough. Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:07, 31 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, actively misleading redirect. —Xezbeth (talk) 07:15, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per PinkAmpersand and {{R from move}}. I don't understand the "incoming links can be moved" argument, we can't edit external traffic generators. Tag with {{R from incorrect title}} if it's such a big deal. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 21:50, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, BDD (talk) 21:48, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as this was the title of the article for way too long and until way too recently for it to make sense to delete. Maybe reconsider in a year's time? In the meantime, this could be tagged with {{R from incorrect disambiguation}} to prevent the redirect from appearing in the search box drop-down suggestions. – Uanfala (talk) 09:15, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Damien Puckler[edit]

WP:REDLINK. Grimm seems to be Puckler's most prominent role, but he's also mentioned at Death Racers and The Butchers (2014 film), among others. BDD (talk) 18:18, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:REDLINK to encourage article creation. --Lenticel (talk) 04:42, 12 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Circum-Pacific War[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 16:08, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

As "circum-Pacific" means "around the Pacific", the redirect is too vague and could refer to any war in the Pacific, real or fictional. This poses a problem and it should be deleted. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 16:42, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete as not mentioned in the setting for this game; can be recreated if it's an important Setting. The term Circum-Pacific does exist but doesn't have a link. There is Circum-Pacific belt, but that's not related to the game. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:13, 11 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom --Lenticel (talk) 01:29, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Superfluous redirect with no history - delete. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 16:35, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete no description of particular nations in setting so this isn't a helpful redirect. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:13, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - Wikipedia is not a game guide, so it wouldn't be appropriate anyways for the page to have detailed information about the setting's background in the first place. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 20:54, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

@BDD:. Be my guest, if I had the patience to work out how to do it, I would have done it. --Richhoncho (talk) 20:36, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 16:05, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect scope is two topics, but targets one of the two articles. Creates confusion when we have two articles, causing hatnotes at target for 2nd article, and potentially making articles harder to search for. WP:R#DELETE 1, 2, 5 Widefox; talk 12:40, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Widefox: FWIW - no problem whatsoever whatever is decided with this issue - hoped my efforts in making the redirect might be helpful - but apparently not - hope this helps in some way - in any case - Enjoy! :) Drbogdan (talk) 13:36, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blitzball (Final Fantasy)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 16:03, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless redirect when Blitzball is also a redirect to the same place. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:59, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep unless Blitzball is also nominated for deletion. Otherwise, this redirect is essentially a {{R from unnecessary disambiguation}}. Steel1943 (talk) 13:49, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The examples in the redirect's documentation aren't the only instances of unnecessary disambiguation. I think the only questions we need to ask ourselves are "Is this disambiguation?" and "Is this unnecessary?" Since we can answer yes to both, I'd say this is unnecessary disambiguation. --BDD (talk) 18:26, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Steel1943. --BDD (talk) 18:26, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Add R from unnecessary disambiguation as above. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:11, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the above. Fun fact: This redirect was linked on the Main Page last year. After a short discussion on WP:ERRORS, I retargeted it to its current location. -- Tavix (talk) 20:47, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

Penance (Final Fantasy)[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 16:04, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The game does not redefine the concept of "penance" therefore this redirect is pointless. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:57, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete it's the name of a boss monster in the game, mentioned only once in the article in the gameplay section (not even Story). But it isn't terribly notable, not like Sin. Not listed in Characters of Final Fantasy X and X-2. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:10, 9 January 2018 (UTC) updated 18:30, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • delete a bit leaning to a game guide term due to its lack of relevance to the game itself --Lenticel (talk) 01:31, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:FORRED. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:52, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom since this redirect is not in Japanese. Steel1943 (talk) 13:53, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:58, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete it's Al-Bhed (FFX in-game "language", really a letter-substitution cipher) for "Rebel Liberation Union", a phrase which is not mentioned at the target nor anywhere else on the Internet. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 13:54, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. It's a trivial in-universe language term per anon's findings --Lenticel (talk) 01:31, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 15:47, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ridiculous and implausible redirect. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:51, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete both - From a bit a searching, it appears that this... odd word is an attempt at translation for one of the musical soundtrack pieces related to the Final Fantasy series. I'm not sure. At any rate, these redirects aren't helpful and should be gotten rid of. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 12:03, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete not a notable track anyway AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:58, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Eubot silliness, mistranscribing a redirect that shouldn't have existed in the first place (#ファイナルファンタジーX,), then got moved around instead of being deleted. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 12:16, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The above discussion is preserved as an archive of the discussion. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on the appropriate discussion page.

The result of the discussion was retarget to Phantom Forest Conservation Area. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 16:03, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Overly vague redirect. Best to delete and let the search do its job. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:43, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

List of Final Fantasy VI locations[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was no consensus. (non-admin closure) Galobtter (pingó mió) 06:09, 20 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pointless redirect, given that the article no longer has a list of locations per se. Should be deleted. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:41, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete no such list. There is a Setting section but keeping this as a redirect would deliver something that isn't there. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:56, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The target offers various locations from the Final Fantasy VI and I would call it a list in a prose format. Note that there is significant history, an underlying article "merged" without discussion. If the article content is to be deleted, that needs to be done at AfD. -- Tavix (talk) 15:46, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Tavix. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 19:59, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep I think it's a stretch to call what's at the target section a list, but this should deliver the content readers are looking for, even if it's not in the exact same format. --BDD (talk) 18:06, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 15:41, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

We typically don't use abbreviations as disambiguations, so this redirect is unnecessary. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:35, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. There's no rule that a redirect needs to use valid disambiguation; a plausible search term is a plausible search term. And the German Final Fantasy Wikia indeed uses this title, so that's at least one place that does. However, at 22 pageviews in 2017, I'm unconvinced anyone is actually searching for this. (Also, TIL that we have an interwiki prefix for the Final Fantasy Wikia.) — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 11:15, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 15:41, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect disambiguation - not a video game. There is no reason for the redirect to exist. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:34, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete not a video game. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 11:45, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, even if it was a valid disambiguator, espers are not unique to one game. —Xezbeth (talk) 17:40, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

War of the Magi[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep and delete, respectively. --BDD (talk) 18:01, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Overly vague redirect that can refer to magical wars in many games and other media. Best to delete and let the search do its job. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:32, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete War of the Magi. as an unnecessary use of a period. Neutral on the other. Steel1943 (talk) 13:58, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Magi. (with period) It is also a subtitle for Fate/stay night volume 2 [1] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:06, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep "War of the Magi" (no period) failing evidence that the redirect truly is vague on Wikipedia. The War of the Magi is described at the target and my search was dominated by Final Fantasy, leading me to believe Final Fantasy is the primary topic even if there are competing uses. -- Tavix (talk) 01:54, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per tavix, delete other. Galobtter (pingó mió) 17:31, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep one per Tavix, delete other. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 19:59, 18 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete War of the Magi. - It's not appropriate. I'm more neutral on the other one but can see reasons to retain it given how the term is highly associated with the Final Fantasy series. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 07:03, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Uses an incorrect disambig (the proper disambiguation would be (fictional space station) if it was an article). ZXCVBNM (TALK) 08:54, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - The term 'citadel' is so broad and vague to begin with, and the disambiguation here doesn't help matters. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 10:49, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete a Citadel could be considered a structure and a big citadel plausibly a megastructure so it is totally misleading to use as a redirect to a video game. Domdeparis (talk) 11:09, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete or Weak retarget to Citadel Station which lists several candidates for megastructures. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 11:39, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Invented name, not used outside Wikipedia. He is never referred to as "Charles IV Maximilien", always as "Charles", "Charles Maximilien", or "Charles Maximilien Jacques de Lalaing". Fram (talk) 08:22, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • There are too much Charles in this family, simple rule: use numbers.--Carolus (talk) 08:24, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • A rule no one but you has needed so far apparently. Fram (talk) 08:26, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • that is realy positive feedback of yours. --Carolus (talk) 08:28, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
        • You have been warned before about creating articles with titles you invented, instead of using the names most commonly used in the literature. To no avail, apparently. Fram (talk) 09:00, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete unless the creator can provide a source showing that this is a possible usage somewhere otherwise we are clearly in an exemple of #8 in WP:RFD#DELETE. The article itself contains highly improbable redlinks with a numbering that is inconsistant with English or French usage. The page itself contains a lot of unsourced information and will need cleaning up. It says "He served in the United-Kingdom between 1904-1917, during the First World war." this makes no sense whatsoever. I would almost suggest draftifying the article to allow the creator to work on it because as such it falls very short of the quality necessary for an acceptable article. Domdeparis (talk) 10:39, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - As stated above, this doesn't appear to be used anywhere outside of Wikipedia. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 10:42, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete this man was a nobleman, not a ruler or royalty, so NCRAN assigns him no numeral. This manufacture of titles and styles in defiance of standard convention is, as Fram notes above, becoming a disruptive pattern despite repeated warnings. FactStraight (talk)
I wonder if a temporary topic ban might cut out the rather tedious work of cleaning up after this editor, or maybe a mentorship? Domdeparis (talk) 10:35, 10 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - even if this individual were assigned an ordinal, they were not the fourth Charles in this family, nor the fourth Charles Maximilien. If he were commonly referred to as Charles IV anyway, this would be indicated by reliable sources. Creator should read WP:OR and not create any more of these redirects. • Delete - As stated above, this vague term could refer to quite a number of different groups. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 10:43, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as per nom. There are a lot of citadels (real ones I mean) and most will have some sort of council. Domdeparis (talk) 17:28, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Please help me out here and give evidence for other things this could refer to. When I search this phrase, I exclusively get results for Mass Effect. It's also described at the target, so it's a cromulent redirect from that standpoint. -- Tavix (talk) 01:49, 14 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The citadella or citadel in Gozo was administered by a council for nearly 200 years Cittadella_(Gozo)#Medieval_period The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina has a number of councils here is one we're not saying that there aren't a lot of GHITS but the redirect is too vague. It could be Citadel council (Mass effect video game) which would come up in a search. Domdeparis (talk) 18:07, 15 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep per Tavix. The phrase does sound generic, but we don't seem to be coming up with anything else that would simply be called "Citadel Council". I don't see the Cittadella's Università or anything at The Citadel likely being referred to as such; indeed, precisely because The Citadel has many councils, referring to any one as "Citadel Council" wouldn't be helpful. --BDD (talk) 18:05, 19 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not applicable in article, has no history. Unnecessary redirect - delete. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:55, 9 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
