This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on February 8, 2018.

Chanelle[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was move Chanelle (disambiguation) to Chanelle. All participants agree there should be some kind of dab/sia at this title, but a bit of disagreement as to what to do with the edit history. I've checked it out, and it is almost entirely vandalism from 2011. After moving Chanelle (disambiguation), I've restored any history that may be seen as non-trivial (the original creation of the redirect from 2008, and the 2018 edits), so I believe all parties should be satisfied. -- Tavix (talk) 20:00, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Chanelle is too ambiguous a term to sit as a redirect to Chanelle Hayes; that subject is not the term's primary topic. Misusing the page this way contributes difficulty to users seeking Wikipedia content where Chanelle is a component of the article's title (given name, surname, nickname, or something else). For example: it was exceedingly difficult for me to find Chanel West Coast knowing only her first name and believing it was spelled Chanelle.

I am convinced that Chanelle should be re-purposed as a disambiguation page for the term and that Chanelle (disambiguation) should ultimately redirect to it. The page has a non-trivial editing history as well and, IMO, its history should be retained.--John Cline (talk) 20:02, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Set-indexify as WP:APO given name page (with "See also" links for Chanel (disambiguation), etc.); multiple people by this name (Special:PrefixIndex/Chanelle), so it shouldn't redirect to just one of them 59.149.124.29 (talk) 08:29, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Also, I don't see anything worth retaining in the edit history, besides the initial redirect back in 2008 and the RFD nomination itself. I didn't notice it until now, but the overwhelming majority of the edit history consists of a spate of vandalism in 2011, which ranges from flat-out nonsense to libellous attacks on named individuals. Some of it is sufficiently awful that I'd suggest the closing admin just WP:REVDEL everything from that year, given that all the vandalism appears to have been done by a single person. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 02:22, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I stand on my original opinion that the editing history is non-trivial and suggest that re-purposing the page be accomplished by merging the content and history of Chanelle (disambiguation) with Chanelle's content and history to establish Chanelle as the main disambiguation page for the ambiguous term. While I do not agree that any specific revisions require deletion, I will not challenge tool usage on revisions deleted should an admin consider my opinion, and yet dissent.--John Cline (talk) 05:30, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to leave it up to the discretion of the closing admin too, I don't think this is worth a relist just to decide what to do with the edit history when we're in agreement about the basic outcome (that this shouldn't be a redirect). My apologies as I somehow didn't notice that Chanelle (disambiguation) has been blue all along when I drafted a separate set-index underneath this redirect. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 06:00, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 16:22, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Onne is a port of Nigeria, not a plausible typo. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 22:26, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • A plausible typo isn't mutually exclusive with being another word. In fact, I'm going to make a wild guess that this was created by someone who'd typed in exactly that and, for that reason, decided it made sense to turn the empty page they encountered into a redirect. User:Anarchyte, am I right? Largoplazo (talk) 03:06, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, you're right, Largoplazo. Despite this, I don't think this is a plausible redirect because "Onne" isn't a typical misspelling of "One", not for the reason the nom mentioned (delete). Anarchyte (work | talk) 04:09, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blarg[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was disambiguate. I don't think there is much of a consensus here, but the discussion seems to be headed towards disambiguating. I'll also note that the status quo is a disambiguation page, so calling "no consensus" should default there anyway. -- Tavix (talk) 19:44, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Previous RfDs for this redirect and similar redirects:

After pruning all of the entries that were on the disambiguation page that formerly inhabited this title (see edit history), the current target of this redirect was the only entry that did not fail MOS:DABMENTION. However, I don't think this target is even a sufficient place to direct any reader. I'm thinking that the best course of action here would be to convert the redirect to a Wiktionary redirect towards Wiktionary:blarg. Steel1943 (talk) 21:20, 23 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Re-redirect to Wiktionary per nom.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 01:26, 24 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. If a reader is searching for that Blarg, putting a redirect to Wiktionary will prevent them from finding it. Either keep the redirect or delete it so they can land on the Wikipedia search result. -- JHunterJ (talk) 13:50, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Nominator comment. I'm also okay with delete, but I can see this redirect being recreated if deleted. Steel1943 (talk) 21:22, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note that Blargg and Blarg (disambiguation) currently target the redirect being discussed. -- Tavix (talk) 21:38, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Tavix: ...Wow, I beat the double redirect-fixing bots. I've since redirected Blargg to List of recurring Mario franchise enemies. Given the situation with the nominated redirect, I suppose Blarg (disambiguation) will be eligible for WP:G6 or WP:G8 deletion pending the result of this discussion. Steel1943 (talk) 22:43, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I've set up a dab for Blarg. I think Blargg the lava dinosaur could be added to the Mario enemies. There seems to be some reviews that mention him in various Mario games. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:38, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. Redirects are cheap ~ Amory (utc) 16:23, 16 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The redirect title was never officially used by any English licensor, and was only used as an unofficial title by illegal translation sites. The page was only kept because some of the article text was copied when the article was recreated under the title Eromanga Sensei. Considering this title was never official and the newer article already had proper attribution of this page, should this redirect be deleted now? Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 06:13, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per nom. Not much was copied over to the new article when created for a histmerge. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:43, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Relisting comment: I'd like just a tad more discussion given the AfD from 2013 and history.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, ~ Amory (utc) 16:45, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Looking at it, it seems that "My Little Sister and the Locked Room" is actually just a translation of a Japanese subtitle (which may or may not be official; note that the Japanese Wikipedia article does not mention the subtitle "Imōto to Akazu no Ma"). For me, the redirect would have been proper if that subtitle was ever actually official or commonly used (neither of which appear to be true). Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 06:41, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep as common unofficial title per Galobtter, CoffeeWithMarkets. Raymond1922 (talk) 17:02, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was Keep 1-4, Delete 5-8. ~ Amory (utc) 22:14, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

During my close of Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2018 January 24#Mario 7, I discovered this is one of a series of "Mario #" redirects from 1-8. During that discussion, it was pointed out there are other Mario series that have at least 8 titles, such as Mario Kart and Mario Party, so these can be seen as vague. -- Tavix (talk) 17:06, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Pinging the pingable participants in the aformentioned discussion: Steel1943 and VibeScepter. -- Tavix (talk) 17:10, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all. Yes, I noticed all of these shortly after I discovered Mario 7, but decided to hold off on nominations pending the result of Mario 7. For these, there are video games in the Super Mario series that are considered either the first or second for its line of titles, such as Super Mario Land. It seems the current redirects only represent the games released for consoles, as opposed to handhelds. (This situation differs from the "Zelda 1, Zelda 2, ..., Zelda 19" set of redirects I found which the numbering includes handheld releases, so I'm still pondering how to fix/nominate those.) Steel1943 (talk) 17:20, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all Overly vague and not helpful.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:20, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep the first four as plausible (since Super Mario World was titled Super Mario Bros. 4: Super Mario World in Japan and pre-release American footage), delete the others. Raymond1922 (talk) 14:35, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget all1-4 to List of video games featuring Mario Other than Mario 3 which heavily favors Super Mario Bros. 3, the others could refer to anything in the series, so best to just leave the user look at the entire list and pick what they want. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 18:47, 2 February 2018 (UTC) updated 02:45, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Delete Mario 5, Mario 6, Mario 8 as not really used since Mario 7 is gone. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:45, 3 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep 1-3 as obviously relevant, neutral on 4 (I don't see any mention of its Japanese title in the target article), delete the rest. --NYKevin 22:23, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 18:41, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like it could be an overly generic sci-fi term to redirect to Metroid as apparently it appears in other games as well with a Google search. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 06:19, 31 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment it is mentioned in the article, although it could be argued that Omega Supreme of Transformers also uses a cannon weapon. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:02, 2 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: I hate to relist this, but the mention in the article intimates that it's a plot point, so I'd like a tad more discussion.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, ~ Amory (utc) 16:27, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak Keep - I'm unsure about this, but not only is the weapon duly mentioned in the target article but it it does indeed appear to be a major element of the game's story-line. I'd rather that we not delete this. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 08:34, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak delete since it's a point in the article that is identified as a plot point, but expanding the subject further could potentially be WP:NOTWIKIA. In addition, when I first saw this redirect when it was originally nominated, I was astonished that the redirect did not redirect to a Final Fantasy title due to its reoccurring use of the terms "Omega" and "Omega Weapon" in its titles; I had thought that "Omega Cannon" was either a incorrect name for "Omega Weapon" or an attack/move/item in one of the titles, with it possibly being an attack by one of the various "Omega Weapon"s (or even some in-game concept for a powerful weapon of some sort.) Steel1943 (talk) 12:58, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete unless someone wants to disambiguate between Metroid Prime Hunters, Striker Z, SD Sengokuden Musha Shichinin Shuu Hen, List of Mega Monster Battle characters, and Descent (video game) (via Raygun). • While noting Tavix' keep !vote, apparently Supergirl has a Fortress of Sanctuary, as well as a few other random assortments (Fallout 4, books about Jerusalem, etc.). Speaking of Supergirl, I actually think this could easily be a misnomer for Fortress of Solitude — which mentions Supergirl's Fortress of Sanctuary — so I'd go for a Retarget there, otherwise Delete. • Delete per Amorymeltzer's comment. In a case like this, I don't see the true value in retargeting or a disambiguation page since the alternative option isn't a title match, and doesn't seem to be an alternative name or known misnomer for the subject either. I'm not sure about the other options mentioned since they weren't specific; if any turn out to be title matches, then a disambiguation page could be warranted, but that may have to be determined at a later time. For now, might as well have Wikipedia's search function best assist our readers. Steel1943 (talk) 13:08, 15 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget - The plural form of the device known as a CTD (instrument) is 'CTDs'. This is mentioned in multiple sources such as here. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 09:11, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete no notable Wikipedia articles that use this with capital S. If it were CTDs then redirect to CTD dab as plural. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 22:17, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak retarget to CTD. A few topics there could be referred to in the plural, though capitalizing the S when doing so would be nonstandard and misleading. --BDD (talk) 18:26, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete, though I can now hear the music from that scene in my head! --BDD (talk) 18:10, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Quote not mentioned in article. Not even mentioned on the Wikiquote page of Chrono Trigger. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 06:45, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - This is indeed an actual quote from the video game series, and apparently it's something associated with a kind of recurring trope. At the same time, this little bit of information isn't particularly notable and falls into the kind of trivia that Wikipedia doesn't really cover. I agree. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 09:03, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment only mentioned in 2 video game articles, so I can't tell if it is a popular enough catchphrase. [1] [2] AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:22, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete the first, retarget the rest per the IP's suggestion. I'll do the same for the "grey" spellings too. --BDD (talk) 18:14, 19 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Four nearly identical redirects, with three different targets. Where should they go? Oiyarbepsy (talk) 01:21, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete we deleted scores of combocolor Neelix redirects in the big clean up. These are all too general to justify picking one target. Legacypac (talk) 01:49, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Split opinion:
59.149.124.29 (talk) 03:27, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Agree with 59.149.124.29's proposal which is more useful than obliterating them all. — Mr. Guye (talk) (contribs)  04:40, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • I agree that we ought to retarget gray blue & gray-blue to blue-gray. As far as the other two redirects, though, I feel more inclined to simply delete them. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 09:01, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • No comment on three of them, but deleting all of them would be inappropriate; "gray blue" is unquestionably reasonable for the butterfly. Whether something else is more reasonable for that redirect, or for the others, I don't know, but deletion definitely isn't right for "gray blue". Nyttend (talk) 13:06, 8 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Those can follow the results of this RFD. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 17:29, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
