This is a list of redirects that have been proposed for deletion or other action on February 9, 2018.

The result of the discussion was delete. -- Tavix (talk) 20:37, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

For some unfathomable reason, this page leads to the Adobe Illustrator article, and that article has no info on. I investigated a bit: [1][2][3][4] An ESD file is most intimately associated with the Electronic Software Download archive file format of Microsoft, used to compress a Windows 10 installation image for distribution to the end-user. Also there is the ExpertScan file format. Wikipedia does not have any articles on either of these two. So, since the current target makes no sense and there is no appropriate target, I suggest we delete it. Sending the reader on wild goose chase in the Adobe Illustrator article is not a good idea. Armoured personal unit[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 14:01, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This term seems a little too WP:INUNIVERSE to be a plausible redirect to anything. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 20:29, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Armored Personnel Unit goes to Armored Personnel Carrier at the moment. There is no game or media that uses "Armoured personal unit". AngusWOOF (barksniff) 23:41, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as not useful. I'd delete the capitalized version too. Legacypac (talk) 08:53, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Major Patten[edit]

The result of the discussion was delete. Looks like this was autogenerated through [2], before some of these other pages even existed. Still, despite that, no mainspace links, and clear arguments below. Redirects can change in utility. ~ Amory (utc) 15:19, 18 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There's a rather extensive list of individuals at Patten (surname). Is this redirect's target the only "Patten" who has been or is a Major? Steel1943 (talk) 19:06, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nooo[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete. Soft redirect to http://nooooooooooooooo.com/ ~ Amory (utc) 01:55, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete as I'm not sure what on this page could plausibly be "nooo". My search seems to be dominated by the drawn out "no" part of Mr. Bill's Oh No catchphrase. Noo also exists, which seems to be a touch more plausible than simply "no". NO3 is Nitrate. -- Tavix (talk) 03:27, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I think I probably created this as an imitation of how the word no is sometimes elongated, but I see how that isn't plausible. Delete {{3x|p}}ery (talk) 03:44, 1 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: I had closed this as "speedy delete" under G7, but since it was recreated by another author I'm backing out of my close and relisting. Note that it was recreated to Noo, but my rationale still applies.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, -- Tavix (talk) 17:44, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom's original statement and relisting statement. Steel1943 (talk) 19:08, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Noo is different and could sound like Boo. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:49, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: This isn't actually targeted to "No" as the nomination statement claims. It is targeted to Noo, with 2 O's! Adding a single extra letter is a much more plausible typo than adding 2. The Mysterious El Willstro (talk) 01:19, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Because it was recreated at a new target after the listing here. Legacypac (talk) 08:59, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as obscure synonym/misspelling --Lenticel (talk) 13:38, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - There's a lot of things that could be described as a "Nooo!", indeed, and it really seems that deletion is the right call. CoffeeWithMarkets (talk) 06:50, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Mid Laner[edit]

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was retarget to Multiplayer online battle arena. (non-admin closure) feminist (talk) 03:13, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this seems like a term that could apply to almost any MOBA. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 15:01, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment there is a Category:Mid laners which refers to Mid Laner or Midlaner. The people in there are e-sport players for League of Legends. So I suggest the article explain its usage or perhaps e-sports could explain it. Otherwise the category should also be deleted. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:11, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The term also exists in DOTA 2, which is unrelated to League. So, yes, all the subcategories of Category:League of Legends players should definitely be deleted or at least renamed to something more specific.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 21:43, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If the Laner term can be described in the MOBA article, since that article also discusses lanes, then that would suffice and then I would recommend redirecting all "x laner" (Top Laner, Bottom Laner, Mid Laner, Front Laner, Support player), and perhaps create Laner (gaming) as a redirect and add it to Glossary of video game terms. It's definitely some kind of jargon. Category:Top laners, Category:Support players, Category:AD Carries, Category:Junglers also exists.AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:14, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm querying the WP:VG group. Hopefully some folks over there can help. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 00:20, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • This is either a retarget to MOBA or a full deletion. I can go either way, since we're not going to go into the definition in the context of that article, and I doubt we should add it to the glossary. I think the subcategorization in C:LOL players is probably not WP:CATDEF and should be deleted accordingly, but that's a comment for another forum. --Izno (talk) 00:28, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to MOBA#Gameplay, or second choice Retarget & add to Glossary of video games#Lanes. The concept of a midlaner (and by extension, of midlaners) is not specific to LoL. The midlaners cat should be be a subcat of LoL players. Lol players and midlaners should both be subcat of MOBA esports players, if the midlaner cat should even be kept at all since roles are not set in stone. In any case, also create redirects for other lanes & laners and point to the same place. Ben · Salvidrim!  00:32, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to MOBA; midlane is not a LoL specific term, it originated with DotA, of which every MOBA spawned from. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 04:52, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 01:56, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Unclear whether this is a misspelling of "Mewtwo" or "Metoo". Potentially confusing redirect? ZXCVBNM (TALK) 12:23, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Me Too movement. It's fairly implausible as a search term for either case, but I can at least imagine someone hearing "me too" spoken and being unsure how to spell it. The only people likely to be searching for articles about individual pokemons (pokemen?) are people who are already fans, and thus will already be aware of the characters' names. ‑ Iridescent 12:31, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. That, and I can see retargeting this to Me Too movement leading to issues similar to WP:SEO problems unless someone notable has actually used "two" instead of "too" in their comments/statements. Steel1943 (talk) 13:24, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as confusing and obscuring searches for either term. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:50, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, it is in my opinion somewhat-removed from the Me Too movement, and is also somewhat-removed from an article entitled Me Two. I also think it is not a common misspelling of "Mewtwo". WinterSpw (talk) 23:05, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:NOTDIRECTORY. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 12:17, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep per WP:CHEAP. The redirects adequately describes the target, but who's not to say that these redirects could refer to aspects of the Pokémon series as a whole and not just the Pokémon in the series? In that case, these redirects would be considered ambiguous with no proper target and no possibility of becoming disambiguation pages. Steel1943 (talk) 12:46, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Yep, Retarget to Pokédex as an almost literal long name of that subject. (Wow, that's what I get for not playing any title after the titles with Generation II; that option completely slipped my mind.) Steel1943 (talk) 23:15, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Pokédex which describes an in-game, in-show way of how Pokemon are grouped and classified in the franchise. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:52, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Pokédex as plausible synonym --Lenticel (talk) 13:40, 11 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was delete. --BDD (talk) 00:18, 20 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This is more of a technical term that is common to pretty much all video games when textures are removed. Too vague to redirect to target but too implausible to redirect to Wire-frame model. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 10:00, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If it was a techical term, there would be sources using it in this sense. There are none. I think you may be confusing this with the general term "wire frame". Paradoctor (talk) 15:17, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If it were called "Steve Wire Frame" then that would be different. "Male" is a generic term, like "blue", "large" or "small".ZXCVBNM (TALK) 16:31, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
We're talking about "Male Wire Frame", not about "male" or "wire frame". "Male Wire Frame" is a name that is only ambiguous between the NPC class derived from Captain Falcon and "Male Wire Frame trophy". There are no "male wire frame"s, and there exists no definition of "maleness" that applies to some set of wire frame models. Also note that the NPC is not rendered as a wire frame model, it is actually a differently textured derivative of the Falcon character's model.
Anyway, that question is only of secondary importance. As long as there is no text on Wikipedia describing either, there is not really much to discuss. Paradoctor (talk) 18:26, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
If it helps, check out the names of the characters in The Driver, e. g. "Blue Mask". Same principle, only that, as opposed to here, there are other uses for the character names. Paradoctor (talk) 18:30, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete not described in Wire-frame model as any particular type. Not specific to Smash Brothers. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:56, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Dissident93, this is addressed at WP:FORRED. In this case, at least without the silly comma, yes, since it is a Japanese game, people might search using the Japanese title. Oiyarbepsy (talk) 06:43, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per long-standing consensus at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2014 November 20#Several redirects that have wiki markup in their titles that lead to the creation of titles with consecutive apostrophes being added to the title creation blacklist due to wiki markup issues when linked or used in section titles, as seen in this section header because the wiki markup activated. (See here for currently-existing pages in the "(article)" namespace that have titles which start with two consecutive apostrophes.) Steel1943 (talk) 00:53, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry about that; I meant to clean up the erroneous redirect once the page was in the right place. As you can probably tell from my personal editing history, I don't do a lot of new article writing, and I suspect the last time I wrote something that required an italic title, we did it quite differently. I will personally go and delete that redirect right now. Risker (talk) 01:45, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Risker: I have something to apologize for as well: I did not realize until now that this redirect was a {{R from move}}. I put emphasis on why this should be deleted because I thought you created the redirect intentionally. Sorry about that.
