Thanks! I actually thought I was being quite nice, compared to reverting straight away for example. I do agree about giving people time to sort out new articles and have often been annoyed by drive-by tagging of a newly-created article or, even worse, somebody edit-conflicting me by starting to create talk pages half a minute after I had prepared and created ten articles with associated talk pages in browser tabs and started saving the articles! I mostly create the article first and then any new links which avoids the redlink problem. This also applies to those who have been stripped of honours by other Dominions' governments, such as Allen Stanford, who was awarded an indigenous knighthood by the government of Antigua and Barbuda, only to be stripped of it after being convicted of fraud. Thanks for your message, I hope that this finds you well! My edit changes simply removed the overcatgorisation of the article. It didn't need to appear in both 'People removed from the Order of Canada' and 'People stripped of a British Commonwealth honour', just the former - hence the removal. A good point, but if we followed that to the letter we end up with more article titles like Polmadie Traction and Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot. Not sure even then a non-railway person would fully understand that either, and its personally way too long. Princess page[edit]

I am trying to add more information onto the Princess Yachts page, however prehaps need to seek some clarification as to why the recent amends were rejected.

I appreciate that the earlier amends were prehaps a little more 'brochure' than is appropriate for Wikipedia however on the recent amends the copy was stripped back and all external links were removed from the range listing. I cannot see why we are not permitted to enter a list of the product range when it is acceptable for other pages to do so (please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunseeker).

In addition, the historical information was stripped back to be a simple factual list of key dates of events and products of significance in the brands history as at present the page is very thin. Others on wikipedia have done so (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bentley_Motors_Limited) so again, I think I need clarification as to what within the history is deemed 'advertising' so rather than delete the whole thing the unacceptable items can be revised instead?

But when they are employees of the marketing department of a company - as these two were - then exceptions should be made. By editting their own articles, they would appear to be corporately willing at a wider level to brake our own rules. Trident13, just so you know, I brought up a hypothetical situation that's similar to this one for discussion with Arbcom shortly before the situation above was brought up on IRC. I hope to hear back from Arbcom within a few days. It may be that the community should have a public discussion on what the policy should be in this kind of situation. I agree with you that Wikipedia has an interest in maintaining NPOV and preventing COI editing, and we will need to figure out how that should balance with the outing policy. The big corporates are all depserate to mange their brand identity, and clearly entries here are part of thier brand management process. One of the articles referred to by DeltaQuad was not only editted by an employee, but created by them as well. Perhaps part of that wider discussion should be to offer to actively liaise with the big corporates, educate them on our rules, and offer them a specific interface which can assist in issues associated with their articles. My suspicion is that most would be willing to pay for such a service - possibly even via sponsorship - hence gaining revenue for Wiki Foundation. The diff you provided is to an article that itself says that Mitt Romney is related to portaitist George Romney. The edit (including the edit summary, "His grandfather was a different George Romney, perhaps a cousin") took out the wording that indicated that Miles Romney was the grandson of George Romney the painter. Yes that-editor-whose-diff-you-pinged-me-with's edit summary is correct, "Removed the bit about Miles being the grandson of English painter George Romney. He wasn't. His grandfather was a different George Romney, perhaps a cousin." The relationship is indeed one of cousinage. Per the BBC:

The Romney name still resonates in the town [Dalton-in-Furness], thanks to George Romney, a first cousin of Miles' grandfather, who was one of Britain's leading portrait painters in the 18th Century, a rival to Joshua Reynolds.
A primary school is named after him, and two streets also bear the Romney name - Romney Park and Romney Avenue. His prestige would have rubbed off on the whole family, Walton says.
"Anyone living in the town with the name Romney would have been respected."
Today, the electoral roll lists only 102 Romney households in the whole of the UK, and only a handful in the north of England.

English Argentine[edit]

The English Argentine article risks becoming a “British Argentine” article since some aspects are also relevant to Scottish Argentines, Welsh Argentines and (Northern) Irish Argentines. The fine line by distinguishing between “English” and “British” is often diluted and is erroneously and interchangeably used around the world, and alas is done in this article as well. The sections about World War 2 and the Falklands War were also relevant to the other nationalities originating from the United Kingdom, and not just English Argentines. I suggest creating a “British Argentine” article with subjects that are relevant to all these nationalities of the United Kingdom who have immigrated to Argentina.

Hi! I am not understanding what was spam with your recent removal of two external links at Gary, Indiana. Neither were links to advertising. The one link that was titled "Dave's Den" was a very informative and entertaining blog about the history of the area. I wouldn't use it as a reference, but I fail to see what it hurts as a link and hence reinstated it, with a less "spammy" sounding title (A history of Gary). The other was a link to the webpage of a local festival, which is technically advertising, but again, what harm is a link to local public event? Nearby Valparaiso, Indiana has a link to their local Popcorn Festival. I am sure there are thousands of other examples. I did not put that back, because it is currently occupied only by a piece of artwork as a placeholder. No hurry, but when you have some time, I'd appreciate hearing your reasoning behind your edit. On the Chepstow page I removed a sentence about nematodes causing the cancellation of some race meetings, on the basis that it was a minor incident in the history of the racecourse. I now realise that you originally inserted it, and reinstated it after I had removed it. I would still like to delete it, holding to my view that it is not significant in the context of the course's history and it does not gel with the rest of the article. Hi, I hope that this message finds you well! As you also probably noticed I have a number of stub articles, its just my way of collecting information on a series of "missing" subjects, and then creating something that is better than the normal of just about good enough! These days, I also like creating articles with a picture, as its amazing what is in WikiCommons and not used. With regards Norton Manor Camp, I was originally coming at it from the railway/shadow factory angle - it was a huge USArmy WW2 distribution depot. As it was covered in secrecy, there is little detail about that early stage, until the 1950s and then later as a Royal Marines camp. I was researching that early stage through reading various library books, but I am happy to put it into production in the next few days if you want. Re cats: a divided debate within the community on that one! I used to leave them out, then got told off by one editor who advised that situations like the one that occured here of "duplicate builds/shared knowledge" could be avoided/created if you put the cats in. After 6+years and 90K+ edits I know the procedure well as to how to leave them out, but have found personally that leaving them in works better for me/the community - and creates nice conversational situations like this! One worth saving. The more I researched and put those edits in, the more it made me question further N-HH's logic in both AFD's. While any death is highly regrettable: accepting the original Carole Waugh article didn't mention the 13 arrests, but that number and a gang approach is highly unusual; the Death of Tia Sharp has turned into an unfortunate family incident. Both have survived for now, but interestingly the Met Police have a higher ranking and far larger team on the Waugh case, which should mean as the legal case progresses more interesting facts appearing. Also, while I did mention the Libya connection, I didn't expand on her personal life - its hers, and second it may have nothing to do with the murder. Secondly, part of any editors problem in recognising the significance of Poor in various developments is that the external ref's disagree. In particular, his major claim to WP:NOTAB re microprocessor development, our own articles and the exteral refs majorly disagree and make few mentions of him in the major media/no-technical publications. In improving the article, it became obvious to me that we have no consistent timeline for microprocessor development from 1969 through to 1973+. David Barton (author): Use of "fact" tags[edit]

You recently used a bunch of "fact" tags on David Barton (author). While I appreciate your concern about keeping Wikipedia accurate, checking a number of the places where you put "fact" tags I found the relevant fact in the next listed reference following where you placed the tag. Additionally, you put "fact" tags in the lead; per WP:WHYCITE, "Citations are also often discouraged in the lead section of an article, insofar as it summarizes information for which sources are given later in the article". Something like the claim that Barton is a best-selling author needn't be cited in the lead as it is cited in a later section. I have a question about your Chris Kyle page -- (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Kyle) -- The article states that: "However, as he was leaving, the U.S. Navy recruiter called him over and talked about the Navy SEALs. Kyle was interested and signed up, but he did not pass the physical test, because of the pins in his arm. A little while later he received a call and he had the chance to go to BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition SEAL school), finally joining the United States Navy in 1999."

How did he just get a call to attend BUD/S without ever having joined the Navy or even have passed the physical for entrance in to the Navy? I know there are pre BUD/S style training programs that young guys can take to see if they have what it takes to be a Navy SEAL but this part of your article doesn't make sense to me and I served in the USMC.

Is there any way that you could provide clarification on this section?

The information which is carried according to your edits is inaccurate:

1. much of what you are carrying is based on media reports which Ms. Nokes disputes. See her personal statement of today here: ^[1]

2: She never 'signed a pledge' - this was inaccurately reported, but rather she agreed that Christians should be allowed to practice their religion and not be forced to compromise it. This was reiterated when she also stated she supported the right for gay marriage. She is quoted in newspaper which is linked to her Wikipedia page saying "“My own point of view is very much that there should be equal marriage rights but I don’t think any religious faith organisations should be obliged to hold marriages if they do not want to or if it is against their beliefs.” She has never stated she shares the religious views, merely that she respects the right of others to do so. ^[2]

Here she refused to confirm the 'allegations' Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).. Also, after allegations were made, Nokes claims there was successful legal action (see point 1 and the link).

4. As she is now divorced, she has no spouse.

If the purpose of Wikipedia is to allow people to accurately reflect fact, why are these facts not also covered on this page?

I think you need to revisit your edits of a couple of days ago. Much of the material you added cites this Telegraph article summarising the Waterhouse findings - but, much of the detail that you included in your edits - lists of hostels, unpublished reports, the details of Alison Taylor's claims, etc. - seems not to be contained in that summary report at all. I'm sure you agree that such an important article needs to be properly sourced. Hi - I've been going through the jewelry areas of WP to try and make it more respectable overall - ie flushing designers not remotely notable, adding people like Stephen Webster and cutting back some of the blatant advertorials and celeb name dropping. Boticca seems possibly notable, (although it is a retailer, not a brand) but it looked like their marketing department made the article. So I pruned it to a more respectable level while still conveying the we carry independent designers angle. After committing, I noticed that such a reputable editor had a heavy hand in the article. Obviously I do not want to tangle with you, but nothing had been done to address what many would consider to be approaching {db-spam}. Garbo and Green[edit]

Hello Trident, I have been reading your addition to the Garbo page. After the first edit, I thought great. This is a welcome addition. I'll just correct the factual errors. But I strongly think you have added far to much information about a friendship (along with the tapes) that was important but no where near as important as others with whom she had much closer friendships, including Mercedes de Acosta (who did not in any way write a tell all autobiography--a myth), with whom she had a 30 year friendship, Salka Viertel (about as many years if not more), with whom she worked and who had huge influence in her life, and George Schlee, to whom she was absolutely devoted for 20 years. Her friendship with Green was indeed important but it most certainly does not warrant an entire very long section. To devote an entire section throws the entire article out of balance and basically states by implication that her relationship with him was the most important of her life. There are so many extremely important people and events in her life that receive no such attention. You have written almost as much text as is spent on her entire career at MGM. Moreover, your changes now dominate the retirement section which is inappropriate since she spent 2/3s of her life in retirement with many friends and activities.

Here's a rough draft the amount of space I think their friendship deserves to keep the entire article balanced.

In 1971, Garbo vacationed with her close friend Cecile de Rothchild at her summer home in Southern. De Rothchild introduced her to Samuel Adams Green, a well-known art collector and curator in New York, and the two formed an immediate bond.^[3] Green, who became an important friend and walking companion in New York, was in the habit of tape-recording all of his telephone calls and, with Garbo’s permission, recorded his many conversations with her. In 1985, Garbo ended the friendship when she was falsely informed that Green had played the tapes to friends.^[4] In his last will and testament, Green bequeathed in 2011 all of the tapes, which reveal Garbo's sense of humor and many eccentricities, to the Wesleyan University film archives.^[5]

As you can see, you also made several factual errors which I corrected, above, (See Paris and Swensen whose GG biographies have been scrupulously researched.) It was Paris, in fact, who introduced their friendship and published some of the tapes' content). I believe, as a long-term editor of this page that the section be radically cut and that this needs to be taken up on the GG talk page. Such an enormous edit needs to be discussed, I think, and I will reduce it to what I've written until this discussion is underway. By all means, add this material to Green's and Daum's pages, but we can't just overwhelm this page with material that's of tertiary or less importance. Trident, you've titled the G talk p. discussion, "Later life - poor focus, speculation, lack of details." Now, to begin, I respectfully disagree that it has poor focus and think that it is, instead, clear and rather well organized. But if you think it's poorly focused, why don't you refocus what's there before adding a new self-contained section? Next, the "speculation" about bipolarity is cited to one of her definitive biographers, Barry Paris. But if you think it doesn't belong there, you can just delete the two sentences. There's not a single other speculation in the section. Finally, you say "lack of details." However, you have not added details about her relationship in later life to Cecile de Rothchild, Salka Veirtel, George Schlee, along with other important friendships she had, and the many things she did and places she went. Instead, you've written an enormous, self-contained, section on just two of her friendships during her later years in New York. So I think your title of the section is misleading.
