Our Sahara is the Homeland moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Our Sahara is the Homeland, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ItcouldbepossibleTalk 13:44, 3 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. The percentages in the map don't match the official results from the constitutional council. Is there a reason? Cheers, Number 57 21:37, 28 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have taken the results from the Mauritanian newspaper AlAkhbar.info (one of the major ones in the country)'s election results portal. Maybe they counted some votes from elsewhere, idk. Thanks for pointing out the difference! --Tidjani Saleh (talk) 03:31, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Are you going to amend the map? I would guess the constitutional council is the more reliable source. Cheers, Number 57 12:32, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Do you mean ammending the final results? AlAkhbar's web results portal has last update at 8th June, while the AMI's article has them from the 1st (assuming they didn't count diaspora vote). Tidjani Saleh (talk) 12:56, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yup, I definitely think it is. AMI gives turnout at 62,63%, while Al Akhbar gives it at 62,66%. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 12:58, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No I mean the map. The figures from the AlAkhbar are figures that were published on AMI on 23 June as provisional figures, while the figures published on 1 July (currently in the results table) are the definitive ones. Presumably the totals decreased as there was some double counting in the provisional count or votes that were invalidated in the final count. Cheers, Number 57 21:52, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, interesting from AlAkhbar not to update it then (tbh what did I expect, this is Mauritania, not precisely known for data transparency/accessibility). Sure, will change it when I have time, thanks for noticing such a detail! Tidjani Saleh (talk) 22:10, 29 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Tidjani Saleh,

Thank you for creating Tichitt (National Assembly district).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

There are presently no references in the article that you have created. Please add references as soon as possible. References must be reliable and verifiable. You can see how you can add refereces, and please note, unreferenced content will be removed if challenged by someone.

If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Itcouldbepossible}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse. Itcouldbepossible Talk 15:59, 3 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible: The article links to the results of the elections provided by the CENI (Independent National Electoral Commission). The boundaries of the state are defined by the Decree that I think it's available on Electoral districts of Mauritania, and the deputy is available on the website of the National Assembly, which I'll add rn. Thanks for your notes and please do tell me if you have any other concern! I plan to do an article for every electoral district so hopefully this makes it clearer. Moving articles[edit]

Hello. Re El Karam, if you believe an article title is wrong, you have to use the move tab at the top of the page to move it (or if that doesn't work, follow the WP:RM process). You cannot move an article by redirecting it to a new title where you have copied the text.

Also, if an article is linked to from a template (like {{Mauritanian political parties}}), editors are expected to fix links on the template after moving articles.

I've fixed both issues in this case. Cheers, Number 57 16:26, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I didn't know that. Thank you very much, will definitely take that into account as I'm trying to improve the Mauritanian politics articles (our country is very uncovered after all and I'm trying to improve the articles as much as I can).
Thank you very much! Tidjani Saleh (talk) 16:30, 4 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Coalition Living Together moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Coalition Living Together, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. I still disagree with this decision because I think the article (even if not extensive enough) is covering an important political formation and is more extended that the ones currently present for several Mauritanian political parties (example: Burst of Youth for the Nation). It is extensible? Yes. It is relevant enough to keep having its own article (with maybe a stub note)? Yes. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 20:00, 25 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On 27 January 2023, In the news was updated with an item that involved the article 16th Congress of the POLISARIO Front, which you nominated. Insaf[edit]

Hi

How many parties merged into insaf? Panam2014 (talk) 03:47, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, officially El Insaf is the rebranding of the Union of the Republic, de facto it's the transition of the UPR (a party that got several parties merged into it by 2018-2020) due to a leadership change and a need to improve their image and "purge" the loyalists of the former president, who joined another party. As far as I know, at least four other parties joined the UPR in 2018-2020, but it's difficult to know the full number. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 04:48, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And why the number of deputies have grown and some parties have lost parliamentary respresentation? Panam2014 (talk) 20:27, 7 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
UPR got the MPs of the parties that merged with it, some parties were dissolved due to not getting +1% in the local elections twice and thus the MPs became independents. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 04:32, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
So i is possible to have the name of MP who joined UPR. Panam2014 (talk) 14:13, 8 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from National Assembly (Mauritania) into Results breakdown of the 2023 Mauritanian parliamentary election. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:00, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the text was actually copied from the 2023 election article + I thought it wouldn't be necessary since I've wrote both texts. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 16:54, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Technically attribution is not required if you are the sole author of the prose that was copied. But it may have been altered in the meantime. Also, it's helpful and timesaving to patrollers such as mytself, and you will not receive unneeded notices such as mine. — Diannaa (talk) 18:26, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Logo of Télevision de Mauritanie (2019-2021).png[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Logo of Télevision de Mauritanie (2019-2021).png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. 1976 Mauritanian general election[edit]

Thanks for adding the infobox to the article. I'm intrigued by the fact that only seven seats were up for election? Were the other 70 appointed or something? Cheers, Number 57 16:06, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hey @Number 57, thank you for your interest! Based on what I've read on the old archived website of the Mauritanian National Assembly (click here although it's in French), 1976's parliamentary election was actually a snap election for the new seven seats for the Mauritanian occupation of Western Sahara (Tiris El Gharbiya). I sadly can't find more information on this (I'm still trying to get in touch with local sources and archives in Mauritania, although it seems I can only find the information if I'm there in person).
The National Assembly elected in May 1975 is composed of 70 members to which were added, by co-optation in 1976, seven other representatives of the 13th region (Western Tiris), attached to Mauritania, after the delimitation of the Moroccan and Mauritanian sovereignty in Western Sahara. This Assembly would end up being dissolved after the military coup of 10 July 1978.

History of the National Assembly of Mauritania (in French)

(PD: Those additional seats are properly displayed in a chart in the National Assembly article :p) Tidjani Saleh (talk) 16:16, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Aha, that makes more sense. In that case I am not sure 'general election' is the correct title. I would suggest we rename it 'presidential election' but mention there was also a simultaneous by-election for the seven new Western Sahara seats (this is also referenced here but again with no details). Cheers, Number 57 17:11, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
In that case I will later work on both a 1976 Mauritanian presidential election and a 1976 Tiris El Gharbiya by-election articles asap @Number 57. Tidjani Saleh (talk) 17:49, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You can just move the general election article to the presidential title and split the by-election stuff to the other one, rather than start two new articles. Cheers, Number 57 20:16, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Al Akhbar (Mauritania) moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Al Akhbar (Mauritania). Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Vanderwaalforces (talk) 17:44, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
