Bank's empty

I think that Bekk Reczek married James Crombie and is now an architect, with a local firm Taylor Robinson. I know one of the partners so I could ask (OR). Did you know she performed with Peter Bjorn and John on their Australian tour. I believe Nat Carson now plays with Split Seconds. Stuart Leach has played drums with a number of bands but at one stage Carson & Leach played in a band called Captain Coach. I don't think they've ever officially broken up just faded into the background. In April 2016 they played at RTRFM's 40th celebration of 'In the Pines'. Dan arndt (talk) 11:52, 7 March 2017 (UTC)

May have to add that to my round TUIT. Dan arndt (talk) 09:48, 9 March 2017 (UTC)

Maybe Dolls

Thanks for fleshing out the Maybe Dolls article. One thing though - when working out a likely release date for Australian releases from the 90s, you usually need to subtract at least 13 days from their chart entry date. This gives the Monday of the sales week the chart was based on. Back then, charts were produced on a Monday, and dated week ending, until the first week in October 1998, when it switched to week commencing (though australian-charts.com have maintained the week ending date thereafter). I've fixed up the release dates/months mentioned in this article, using dates listed in the relevant ARIA Reports.Nqr9 (talk) 12:07, 27 March 2017 (UTC)

Uncle Bill

Now that you've got me thinking... Maybe we start with an article of Gerry Hale, as he appears to have worked with a number of notable artists (outside of Uncle Bill) and would seem to be notable in his own right. Then we could work on Uncle Bill. What do you think? Dan arndt (talk) 07:26, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Carsus Thompson

I’m just about to head off to Singapore for a week so my input might need to wait until I’m back. However in having a preliminary glance, it would appear that Carsus Thompson might now be the notable of the two articles, given that he is the common thread and that the true believers was just a phase in his career. At the time he was notable for his band, CT & TTB. Also a precursory glance it would seem that there is more online available references for Carsus than the band. Cold Chisel

Loving your work on this article. It looks so much better. Thought I'd mention a couple of things, though.

Prestwich wasn't fired until after the end of the German tour, with Ray Arnott immediately taking over. Gary Young had previously filled in for an injured Prestwich in 82.

Nimervoll's comments about Breakfast at Sweethearts, that the band "had their reservations, but they were reasonably happy with the results" are off the mark, I think. Just about everything I've read since show the band were pretty unhappy with the results.

Anyways, good work. Doctorhawkes (talk) 01:09, 10 May 2018 (UTC)

Your retractive edits, respectfully, are mostly overzealous, as I act on behalf of the Mr Hussey.

Please refrain from retracting additional information that is in the interest of the current generation of music followers.

Your retraction of 'The Horses' by Daryl Braithwaite in the opening sentence of Mr Hussey's introduction negates the relevance of Mr Hussey's relevance in the Music industry today.

Perhaps some research into other musical identities may enlighten you. Facetsof (talk) 00:24, 28 May 2018 (UTC)

ARIA chart peaks below #50 - reference.

Hi, since you're someone who edits a lot of article relating to Australian recording artists and their releases, I thought you might be interested in this (as it saves me adding/referencing some chart information) I have uploaded for another editor: (copying and pasting from their talk page) - I can offer you a copy of the (now out of print) Gavin Ryan book, pdf edition. I've uploaded it here (the link expires in 7 days, so please grab before then) - https://we.tl/t-qtdjRPhawB . There are a couple of things to be mindful of, though - this book is missing some certifications from 1988-9, and even a couple as late as early 1991 appear under-certified in the book. The 1991 end of year chart placings, for both singles and albums, are wrong (e.g. two different albums are listed as being #1 for 1991, and the actual #1 album is listed as being only the 14th biggest seller of the year - I don't know why), so do not use these. Obviously, it is missing positions 51-100 for the period June 1988 until the end of December 1989 inclusive, as these have not been published (though new single debuts and peaks in that region are added every week to the 30 Years Ago posts on chartbeats.com.au ). Some data, such as debut positions and weeks on the chart, are wrong for releases that debuted outside of the top 50 in 1988-9 that are still charting in January 1990. If you cite this book, use (within braces) cite book|last=Ryan|first=Gavin|title=Australia's Music Charts 1988–2010|year=2011|publisher=Moonlight Publishing|location=Mt. Martha, VIC, Australia|edition=pdf|page=(add the page number/s here) . You can also easily locate artists/releases by using Control F to search within the book.Nqr9 (talk) 07:17, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

I saw your add to the AIR page before noticing the delete on the AIR Charts page and didn't understand why you'd done that. Now I see that I had left some stuff behind by mistake - sorry for the misunderstanding and thanks for completing the clean-up. I was very tired last night and obviously didn't notice that I hadn't picked up all of the content I was trying to delete on what is now a redirect. I still need to recheck everything (and add a few more redirects), but quite a bit of the content on the Charts page doesn't appear to be true any more, hence the omission. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Question on Angus & Julia Stone article

Greetings. I recently visited the article on the Stones and saw you had done some work on that article. Wanted to run a thought by you if I may. I felt the detail provided about the parents was a bit much for an article about two of their children. I was motivated to edit it to where I think it should be, but noticed there has been some edits done in the past that had raised concerns. As such I've asked for input on the Talk page of the article. I was wondering if you would be willing to look at the article again and offer your thoughts. No worries if you'd rather not. I'm planning on waiting a few weeks for a response to my request on the talk page before proceeding. I appreciate your time.THX1136 (talk) 23:37, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your response. I will wait a bit longer for any other input from fellow editors. After that I will dive in an do the edits. Hope all is well.THX1136 (talk) 01:58, 15 January 2020 (UTC)

Rearranging citations

Shaedar, I must admit, I'm really rather taken aback that as an experienced editor, you seem to think rearranging citations as you see fit, without establishing consensus or even giving a reason for doing so, is acceptable. Per WP:CITEVAR, unless you created an article, or there is consensus and/or a compelling reason to do so, the style should remain as is. Cleaning up or rewriting substantial parts of an article is not a compelling reason—most users achieve this without the need for making all citations list-defined. I have restored the original citation style on Tones and I. Please do not change it again without proposing and achieving consensus on the talk page. We don't all like or want list-defined references. Thank you. Ss112 14:27, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

Dorothy's Rainbow and Hansel Kissed Gretel

Hi! I saw your edits to Amy Shark and as I see in the interview, Dorothy's Rainbow and Hansel Kissed Gretel is one band, not two. And this bandname kind of make some punk sense.--Dignitee (talk) 15:17, 11 March 2020 (UTC)

Beyond Tha Noise

Longtime between drinks - hope you are keeping safe and healthy. I had a look at the Beyond Tha Noize article and I would have to say it is a mess. It is highly promotional and the only significant editors (as you have pointed out) all have potential conflict of interests. I am struggling to find any notable secondary sources on Beyond Tha Noize anywhere. The certainly no evidence that "We Get Lost" ever charted on an mainstream chart - you can disregard the Spinning Records chart (a non-notable chart which is the band's own label - primary source). These days half decent DJs turn up at clubs around the world - hardly an international tour and apart from advertising his appearance there are no other reviews etc that I can find. My verdict is that is not worth saving - happy to initiate the Afd process if you want. Dan arndt (talk) 02:32, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

What are your thoughts are they worth trying to save? Dan arndt (talk) 09:18, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for those additional references. I think that there is probably enough to justify its retention. In respect to the WAMi, appearing on the compilation album doesn't mean that won an award. Dan arndt (talk) 12:58, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Hey there, just wanted to thank you for your very thorough (and ongoing!) review of Advance Australia Fair. Lots of work to be done. I'll be a bit busy this coming week so I won't be able to act promptly on implementing your changes, but I just wanted to let you know that I have been keeping up with your points. I'm thinking I might need to work on it in a sandbox for a period because there are some systemic issues and contradictions that will take time and research to resolve. Thank you so much! bibliomaniac15 03:30, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

You are absolutely correct. It is an embarrassment. I created the page 13 years ago, in 2007. Early days for me then (my first Wikipedia contributions were in 2006). I would not do the same thing now, and I have declined requests to edit articles on similar grounds. Advance Australia Fair

I haven't come around to starting improvements on the article. Admittedly, I was a bit overwhelmed by the amount of work it would take to overhaul the article. Between not being as available these past months and trying to work on the administrative backlog at CFD, this project has fallen on the wayside. Thanks for asking though; really thankful for the work that you put into your peer review. bibliomaniac15 02:39, 18 September 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for referencing this! I was intrigued by your edit summaries and went through the history, and found that on 8 March 2018 a NSW IP had removed the refs in a series of edits, the last removal at 22:47 with the edit summary that the refs no longer worked—even though a bot had already provided archive URLs. Sigh. It then got tagged as an unreferenced BLP, hung around for a year so tagged, and was PRODded by Ritchie333 (talk · contribs). I see the IP also made substantial changes, especially at 22:40 where I can see them junking information referenced to thedwarf.com.au. They may well have been right about some of the bands he played for, including Lo!, which was their emphasis, but I think those changes need some checking, and since I know almost nothing about rock bands, especially in Australia, can I ask you to have a look? That's also why I'm pinging Ritchie.

But more importantly, you saved the article, but you forgot to remove the PROD and it got deleted! Especially since the removed refs had been archive URLs, nobody had any way to know he'd been covered in reliable sources. I was checking the redlinks in a list of unreferenced BLPs and saw it on Google cache ... Please check when you reference a PRODded article that you remove the PROD tag if the reason was "unreferenced".

Thanks again, he's back. Yngvadottir (talk) 18:09, 2 October 2020 (UTC)

Skegss

Hey there, thanks for the hitseekers and various other information added on the Skegss article (including a typo of mine, a la “skeggs”).

I did notice you had moved the combination LP EPs into studio albums. I’m not sure I agree with that. It reads like “that album” (which it isn’t) was released before their debut studio album. (Despite your note). They have only released one studio album to date, but it doesn’t look like that at present.

The 2 EPs were re-release together on vinyl, hence why I had put both chart positions together (colspan) and noted it that way. I think it was clearer as to what happened the way I had it before you made your changes.

However, a third option, if you didn’t agree with what I had done, could be to have the November 2020 combined EPs in a compilation section. that way, this would keep your hitseekers research and note for the separate “everything is good at something” EP.

What are your thoughts? Tobyjamesaus (talk) 11:43, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Sorry for the two messages. I wasn’t sure if I was totally clear above (ha ha), so I’ve made an edit on the page now to show you option 3. I think it’s better/clearer. What are your thoughts? Tobyjamesaus (talk) 11:58, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

On 21 December 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Autumn (Australian band), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Australian pop band Autumn was one of four artists co-credited with a number-one hit in the Australian charts on 31 October 1970, each with a version of the song "Yellow River"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Autumn (Australian band). Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Hello bro. I actually think you made a mistake, because as I said, if someone does not want to reveal her age, because she feels old, even being a woman in her late 20s, it's her problem, but as far as I'm concerned, this is an encyclopedia and its mission is to put information at the service of people regardless of personal whims. The Red Page

Hello, wondering why you are so passionate about proving the Red painting’s page must stay? So you’re from Australia?? Do you know the band? 85.56.220.216 (talk) 05:26, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Yes I'm from Australia and I like to work on Australian music articles. I believe Australia is woefully under-represented at Wikipedia and investigate any Australian music article facing deletion. As for the Red Paintings, I had no knowledge of them before I started editing there. I was trying to prevent its deletion at the first AfD. It was kept because it had enough reliable sources to support the claim of notability. The article does require work to fix its content but that is not a reason to delete it. However, instead of giving editors an opportunity to improve the article you and Alan191919 have repeatedly disrupted the page by deleting content and not discussing your issues at the article's talk page (see Talk:The Red Paintings). Go there if wish to have a reasonable discussion about the article.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:53, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

You don’t seem to understand you’re killing the band by pushing the page. This is only making their change of any success impossible. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.56.220.216 (talk) 06:00, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Could you discuss this point of view at Talk:The Red Paintings. I will not reply to any more of your edits at my talkpage.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:03, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Regards to your revisions

People have tried to explain it to you but you won’t listen. Pls Read between the lines. If you continue to load the page bringing up intricate past industry wars between labels etc you will kill any chance the band has to reboot into a new album and you’ll single handed kill the act. You’re the only one on there who seems so passionate to use all their time to “save the page”. How many times do you have to add “jamie” or “1998” to the article? Why can’t you leave it alone? Why are you wanting to embarrass the band? It’s obvious they had epic struggles and failed to break through. It’s only going to make our job harder to re connect the fans and industry now thanks to you, if at all. Please stop! 85.56.220.216 (talk) 06:19, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Finding chart peaks

After your message on my talk page here, I'm wondering if you can assist me with a query. I'm searching for if Mia Wray's self-titled 2014 EP reached anywhere on the Hitseekers chart (circa 14 July), as this article seems to indicate to me that she may have (it reached number 41 on the Australian iTunes Chart, and in 2014, digital sales made up a large portion of chart success, so I'm thinking it probably hit the hitseeker chart somewhere, right?). Perusing the Auspop Chart Watch articles didn't lead me anywhere, so I at least know that it didn't chart on the ARIA Albums Chart. If you could help me in any way, or merely point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it! Sean Stephens (talk) 04:37, 9 April 2022 (UTC)

Would you consider becoming a New Page Reviewer?

Chart of the New Pages Patrol backlog for the past 6 months. (Purge)

Hi Shaidar cuebiyar,

I've recently been looking for editors to invite to join the new page reviewing team, and after reviewing your editing history, I think you would be a good candidate. Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time but it requires a good understanding of Wikipedia policies and guidelines; the new page reviewing team needs help from experienced users like yourself.

Would you please consider becoming a New Page Reviewer? Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision (if it looks daunting, don't worry, most pages are easy to review, and habits are quick to develop). If this looks like something that you can do, please consider joining us. If you choose to apply, you can drop an application over at WP:PERM/NPR. If you have questions, please feel free to drop a message on my talk page or at the reviewer's discussion board.

Cheers, and hope to see you around, (t · c) buidhe 00:19, 2 June 2022 (UTC)

Collaboration

Does this mean, in the immortal words of Joliet ‘Jake’ Blues, that - “We're putting the band back together”? I know I’m a little bit older now and hopefully a little bit more wiser. I think if we can find the right project we could recapture the old magic. So I guess I’m in if you are. Dan arndt (talk) 11:30, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

@Dan arndt: Go for it, any Aus Mus project? I've assessed a lot of Stub-class Mid-imp articles. I try to improve then to at least Start-class. Otherwise, whatever you suggest.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 04:35, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Am I being too ambitious in aiming to get a neglected Oz musical article up to 'GA' status? Needs to be an article that we both can relate to - an iconic musician/band/album from the 1980s/1990s maybe? Dan arndt (talk) 08:24, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Good idea. Why don't you pick one from 100 Best Australian Albums list? Get one at Start or C-class, which we could aim to get to GA.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 19:12, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Which one do you think?
Almost all are start class articles but relatively neglected. Dan arndt (talk) 01:50, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
I'll see you at Bear Witness, have fun.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:02, 26 August 2022 (UTC)
  • Am I getting the feeling that we are looking at overhauling I'm Talking and all the associated articles? If so I'm all for it. Dan arndt (talk) 09:09, 27 August 2022 (UTC)
    • I agree. Also, Goodge is notable enough for an article: I'm Talking and Filthy Lucre.
      • Re-reading Ceberano's autobiography it states "At one stage we went to New York to continue recording." (no dates). Need to work in Ceberano's perceived rivalry with Abeyratne. Again in her autobiography she states "the boys wrote a song especially for Zan. It was "Holy Word". As soon as I heard it, I knew it was going to be big. I didn't think she deserved it. As far as I was concerned, she had come between the rest of us and had been rewarded with a hit single." There are numerous other references of Ceberano's resentment to Abeyratne's role in the band. Dan arndt (talk) 00:55, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
        • What about the friction between Ceberano and Goodge? "Holy Word" was given to Abeyratne by Goodge and appeared in July 1986. The group toured UK around October 1986, they did Australian Made in January 1987. Back in June 1986 Ceberano was already preparing her solo career and performed a concert, which resulted in Kate Ceberano and her Septet in March 1987. I'm Talking disbanded in July.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:36, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
          • From most accounts there wasnt friction between Goodge and Ceberano. There is a decent back story abot KC & her Septet - will provided details. Goodge viewed the band as a collective, which meant often the band lacked leadership/direction. The Australia Made tour was due to Fabiniyi (Regular Records) involvement. Dan arndt (talk) 00:15, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
  • I think Ive worked out a timeline - band signs with Regular Records, releases three singles, commences recording album in Australia, releases first single, signs with London Records, continues recording in New York, releases "Holy Word" (only single released internationally by London Records), finishes recording, London Records not happy with album, album released in Oz, third single released and band move to UK. Tour of UK complete disaster. Dan arndt (talk) 22:30, 29 August 2022 (UTC)
@Dan arndt: That all makes sense. How are you going with studio(s) used in NYC: is Goodge's track-by-track any help?
We also need that better ref for platinum cert.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 00:15, 30 August 2022 (UTC)
Still working on it - sources hard to track down. Dan arndt (talk) 00:43, 30 August 2022 (UTC)

Bear Witness

Sorry - have been busy in r/l, so apologies if it looked like I ghosted you. Whilst I couldn't find anything definitive about the New York studio, Ceberano (in her autobiography), talks about returning with Fred Maher to Axis Studios in 1996 and recording a jazz album, Globe, around 1993. The album was never released but some of those songs made it onto her 1996 album, Blue Box. One of those songs was "All That I Want Is You" - which according to the track listing for her 1999 compilation album True Romantic was recorded at Axis Studios. Might be a long shot but appears to collaborate Goodge's comments.

No matter how hard I search I can't come up with a definitive source that confirms the album reached platinum status. Everything stating it achieved platinum seems to come back to Ceberano's press releases or her record label's press releases.

On that note lets lodge a WP:GAN and see where it takes us (BTW great work). Dan arndt (talk) 05:40, 19 September 2022 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Bear Witness

The article Bear Witness you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Bear Witness for issues which need to be addressed. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of Sammi Brie -- Sammi Brie (talk) 06:41, 11 October 2022 (UTC)

  • Most of the fixes are fairly straightforward. I've gone through almost all of the grammar corrections - you might want to double check to make sure I have them all. Can you have a look at "Why is the "channelled" quote citing the Rolling Stone source, which contains it, but also mentioning the Herald Sun one?" and "Must AGF the citations to Ceberano 2014 (book)." (do I need to provide the page numbers?). The biggest issue is the reference to the 1986 countdown music awards (Ref #34). Dan arndt (talk) 08:53, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for taking this up so promptly. I'll double check. As for Ceberano's book, add page numbers e.g. ...blah blah blah."[15]{{rp|114}}shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:02, 11 October 2022 (UTC)
