why did you deleted my edit about a singer called walle from the page walle? Atheistbisexual (talk) 08:36, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

@Atheistbisexual: Hi, I tried to explain in my edit summary. Did you read it?
I linked to MOS:DABRED which states: "A link to a non-existent article (a "red link") should be included on a disambiguation page only when a linked article (not just other disambiguation pages) also includes that red link. Do not create red links to articles that are unlikely ever to be written, or are likely to be removed as insufficiently notable topics." Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 11:56, 6 June 2021 (UTC)

Question about U23 caps

Hello. As the U23 teams prepare for the Olympics, I was wondering if these friendlies they play are counted as official/FIFA and should be added as caps for the players? Thanks in advance!8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 18:58, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi @8Dodo8:. Do you mean they should counted towards U23 caps or senior caps? Definitely not the latter. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 19:07, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
No, no, I didn't mean that. I was referring to the fact that we don't count friendlies between junior teams to the overall caps.
For example, John Template played 5 friendlies and 10 UEFA Euro matches for Template Country U21. We will write only 10 caps for Template Country U21.
Is it the same with Olympic teams? Or do we DO add these friendlies as U23 caps?8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 19:56, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
@8Dodo8: Youth international caps don't work any differently than senior international caps. Someone who played 5 friendlies and 10 Euro games for the U20s would have 15 games for the U20s. Same for U17s or U23s. The important thing is that the numbers are backed up by a reliable source. Some good sources for youth international stats are the country's FA website, Global Sports Archive and Soccerway (GSA is more comprehensive than Soccerway). Nehme1499 20:01, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
@8Dodo8: Okay! I think Nehme1499 knows more about this than I do. :-) Robby.is.on (talk) 20:26, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Ok, guys (@Nehme1499:), I get it now. :) My particular problem is that the Romanian FA does not have player profiles so I mostly use Soccerway for youth caps. I didn't know about GSA, but I checked it now and it seems that Romanian youth friendlies aren't counted on any websites!
For example, I know Darius Olaru played a friendly for Romania against Belgium and scored a goal. That would add 1 (1) to his 14 (1) = 15 (2). But what if he has more friendlies I don't know about/There are no reliable reports? And there are tens of players in this situation.
Also, I guess I'll have to write about the two friendlies Romania U23 played in Marbella in every International career paragraph because most certainly the online resources won't count them up?8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 21:00, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
@8Dodo8: Unfortunately, we should only be putting the statistics that reliable sources show. If GSA says that the player scored 1 goal in 14 games, we should write that (even if you personally know that he scored at least one more). Nehme1499 21:10, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
@Nehme1499: Thank you, I understand. Well, at least there is less work for me and I won't have to count and add up every cap we have and we don't have stats for. :) 8Dodo8 (talk · contribs) 21:23, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Removal of club total rows from stats table

Hi, why are you removing the "Total" row for certain players (example)? Nehme1499 18:15, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Nehme1499:, thanks for reaching out. I believe it is WP:FOOTY consensus to not calculate totals for loan and non-loan spells at the same club. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 18:23, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
What? Why? How does that make any sense? I've never heard of this consensus. Nehme1499 18:24, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
@Nehme1499: It's the same as in the infobox. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:26, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
So you're saying that if someone played 5 seasons at a club, the first on loan and the next four on a permanent basis, we should only include the four seasons not on loan in the total row? That doesn't make any sense... The stats are separated in the infobox because we wouldn't have any other way of showing that the player was on loan from year X to year Y. In the table we show it by having "(loan)". Nehme1499 18:29, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
So you're saying that if someone played 5 seasons at a club, the first on loan and the next four on a permanent basis, we should only include the four seasons not on loan in the total row? Correct. That's how we've doing it for years. What I like about this solution is that we end up with the same numbers in the infobox and the stats table. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:31, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
Who's "we"? Again, I've never seen this in practice, and I've never seen consensus regarding this (not even a discussion to be honest). Nehme1499 18:33, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
As long as I've been editing I've seen most non-IP footy editors do it that way.
I did a quick search of the Footy Talk archives but didn't immediately find a discussion. Robby.is.on (talk) 19:05, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
I think opening a discussion on WT:FOOTY would be ideal; I didn't really think there were differing opinions regarding this. Nehme1499 19:19, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
I'm all for WP:FOOTY consensus. But right now I'm a bit tired of discussing the career stats section. There's been a lot of it recently and some of it hasn't been very fruitful. Robby.is.on (talk) 20:28, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

Think we should leave the article as last edited by you until 1 July eventually comes. I shouldn't see Wikipedia as what it says in the future. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:19, 9 June 2021 (UTC)

@Iggy the Swan: Agreed. Thanks for the heads-up. Robby.is.on (talk) 08:12, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Glad we can agree to this unlike others who like to update early. And the page has been affected by a change of name vandal once again as well as new pages to mess with which you noticed. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 16:04, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan: 👍 Yeah, pity they haven't found a better use of their time. Robby.is.on (talk) 20:22, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
I was wondering why one of the edits made by a registered user which you'd reverted remains as the current version i.e. (this edit). Strange one given an edit filter was triggered before that. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:40, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
That edit looked like a rare case where the editor found something sensible to do. Robby.is.on (talk) 20:50, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
Indeed. Usually socks get all edits reverted except for fixing vandalism. In the meantime, the Scott Brown page was edited as it is seen in the future once again. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 21:48, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Oops!

Didn't see that AN/I thread had been made by a totally unrelated IP (I was wondering why the section creation hadn't shown up in the alleged OP's contribs)... jp×g 10:35, 10 June 2021 (UTC)

@JPxG: No problem. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:36, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
I have just noticed this section and the edit history of AN/I; not sure what OP stands for. Sometimes the vandal uses what is now one of my previous signatures, probably tricking others thinking it was me who added nonsense text now and then. I would think more people are aware of this vandal popping up occasionally and may have a rough idea as to when they may disrupt again. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 20:50, 10 June 2021 (UTC)
@Iggy the Swan: "OP" is explained here. Robby.is.on (talk) 07:46, 11 June 2021 (UTC)

Scott Brown Edits

Hey I saw your reasoning for reverting the edits I made on Scott Brown’s Wiki page and I just want to say that those edits weren’t made for malicious intent (not that you were implying it I’m just saying) and I completely agree with your reasoning for the reverted edits it is too soon. He has his record now, only thing he cares for; go Belgium!).

Enough of my rant! Could you please check (see message title) this guy's stats? Stats total seems OK, but not the goals.

Kind regards, thanks in advance --193.137.135.2 (talk) 10:25, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Pest

Thanks for dealing with the pest once again. And once again on WP:ANI, the user spoofed an old signature of mine. I believe there should be some abuse edit filter which should take the task to disallow non-confirmed users plus all IP addresses to add other user's signatures to make others believe it is the linked user who edited the page where in reality it would be some sort of vandal. I have no idea how often that's been done in the past. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 14:39, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

You're welcome. Yeah, I agree that faking signature should be disallowed if possible.. Robby.is.on (talk) 19:08, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Hey Robby - hope all is well. Can you take a look at this article? A new editor has come in today and deleted a ton of information (over 10,000 bytes). While some of what they removed looks to have been poorly written and unsourced, their reasoning in the edit history isn't really justification and I think a lot of important information has been removed that should have been in this sort of article - namely a brief history on the men's and women's national teams and links to those main articles. I also found the information on Prague to be useful; Czech Republic is a smaller nation, therefore a lot of the professional clubs are going to be from the most populous/biggest city. I wanted another opinion before I go reverting and get into a battle. Cheers. Rupert1904 (talk) 20:42, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Hi @Rupert1904:, thanks for your message. I had a cursory look and I don't have a strong opinion either way. I haven't previously edited similar articles (i.e. Football in <country>) so I don't have a good idea about what should be included.
They included useful edit summaries so I reckon they'd be willing to communicate. I would suggest starting a discussion on the article Talk page addressing the individual changes you object to. Meanwhile, only revert edits you strongly object to. It would be unfortunate if this were to turn into an edit-war. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 20:57, 24 June 2021 (UTC)

Thanks

Hey Robby - hope all is well. Thank you for the nice notes and praise. I didn't realize national teams were not supposed to be bolded; I'll stop doing that and change to un-bolded where I see it. Cheers! :) Rupert1904 (talk) 14:38, 11 May 2021 (UTC)

  • That's how you interact here (see message above, from Mr. Rupert)! Robby, if you can (and you know where), please lend a hand at Sergio (footballer, born 1976), i've improved the article well in other areas :)

Happy weekend to both of you (and all the people that work hard and are friendly to each other here)! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 09:31, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

I've standardised the layout of Sergio's career stats table. It was missing a bunch of appearances, too. Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:41, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Maybe the ESPN source could have stayed (pending archiving), but it's no biggie considering the subject only played in Spain and BDFUTBOL covers everything. Nice work, again (especially the new outline of his int'l career stats, top notch)! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 10:51, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Thanks! Right, all appearances are indeed backed by BDFutbol. The ESPN source doesn't do anything. :-) Robby.is.on (talk) 10:52, 14 May 2021 (UTC)

Youtube videos

Hi. Please do not add Youtube videos from random channels to articles like you did at Olof Mellberg and Gabriel Agbonlahor, for example. Per Wikipedia:Verifiability, inline citations (Wikipedia:Inline citation) are used to back claims made in an article. Videos from random YouTube channels are not reliable sources (WP:RS). I can see how it might be interesting to view the goals mentioned in an article but Wikipedia does not work this way. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 00:05, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

@Ewyourfaceew: You're welcome. :-)
How did you arrive at 32 appearances for Montréal Impact? worldfootball.net counts 11+12+8=31. It also lists two appearances in the "MLS is Back" tournament but I would assume those shouldn't be counted? Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 21:36, 21 July 2021 (UTC)

@Robby.is.on: https://www.mlssoccer.com/players/lassi-lappalainen/stats/

I use MLS' actual website. I'm (assuming) their data is accurate. If there's a more accurate website, let me know. For MLS is back, it's tough to explain. The group stages counted as MLS regular season games, and after the group stages were over, the 'tournament' games no longer counted towards the regular season standings, so those specific games do not count towards league appearances. Lassi appeared in one group stage game (regular season) and 1 tournament game (non regular season) . MLS' website does not include the tournament game in his total appearances which is correct. Today's date (22/7/2021) he has appeared in 33 regular season MLS games. Hope this helped :) Best, Ewyourfaceew (talk) 21:57, 22 July 2021 (UTC)

@Ewyourfaceew: Thanks for clearing this up. ;-) That is not very straightforward indeed.
I think if we were to update the "Career statistics" table that would help with clarifying the situation to others as well. Would you be interested in doing that? I've added the table code for the 2021 season, you'd just need to enter the number of appearances and update the timestamp. The appearance not counting towards his league appearances should probably go in the "Other" column. Robby.is.on (talk) 08:07, 23 July 2021 (UTC)

Help with season template

Hello, I need some help with some club season articles I am working on currently. I tried adding the league table 2020–21 Ghana Premier League League table to the article 2020–21 Accra Hearts of Oak S.C. season to show the league table like how it appears here Liverpool League table, by showing just about 5 of the teams. Gumbura Article

Hi,

Thanks for the help as I acquaint myself with Wikipedia editing.

Please note, I followed the links for the original paragraph which I edited. And in neither of those links does it hold any information that cites the Gumbura sect as being Branhamist. Please note that the sect of Gumbura’s polygamous teachings are based on African culture and Biblical misinterpretation.

So my question is, to validate my edit, what would suffice?

Many thanks,

ZK 2A00:23C5:F983:5F00:D014:91BA:C485:492B (talk) 16:48, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. As far as I can tell, the Wikipedia article does not claim "the Gumbura sect as being Branhamist". It states Gumbura (the person) was a) a follower of Branham's and b) a "practitioner of polygamy". Robby.is.on (talk) 16:56, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

Hi there,

This is the line that isn’t fact, but opinion,

“Gumbura was a follower of the teachings of American charismatic preacher William Branham”

An accurate amendment would be

“Gumbura claimed to be a follower of the teachings of American charismatic preacher William Branham”

There is no citable evidence of a correlation of beliefs between Branham and Gumbura, more so given than there is the clear polygamy reference.

Does that make sense? 2A00:23C5:F983:5F00:D014:91BA:C485:492B (talk) 17:11, 11 August 2021 (UTC)

One of the cited references, https://www.newsday.co.zw/2014/01/gumburas-lavish-lifestyle-exposed/, names Branham as the founder of End Time Message Church which was lead by Gumbura. Another, https://www.zimeye.net/2015/01/18/exclusive-gumbura-agents-invade-stanbic-bank-harare/, also does that, and on top of that states "The End Time Message draws its teachings from a little known 1960s US based preacher, William Branham". You mention that "You won't find any newspaper article referring to Slavia Prague with its full name "SK Slavia Prague" and NEITHER SHOULD WE". Very good point, so why is OUR article named SK Slavia Prague and not just Slavia Prague? Kommisch...
RIP Charlie Watts, you have a nice day sir! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 07:39, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
I'll answer here because you keep clearing your own Talk page and that makes it hard for me to reconstruct the conversation now or at a later point in time.
It's not "komisch", but in line with policies and guidelines. Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sports teams): "Where an article is clearly about a particular sport you do not need to put a prefix or suffix (like RLFC, CCC or FK) throughout the article text but merely in the title. For example, FC Barcelona is the article name but throughout the body Barcelona is sufficient."
You too. Though I'm a drummer, I know little about Watts' playing, I must admit. Robby.is.on (talk) 16:07, 25 August 2021 (UTC)

Natalie Dormer & NSPCC

Thanks for the removal of the Daily Mail article. Have altered the footnote to link directly to the podcast interview where she said what was then quoted in the Mail. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BensDeet (talkcontribs) 18:20, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

@BensDeet: That's better, though possibly "original research" as the podcast is a primary source; see WP:PRIMARY. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:46, 27 August 2021 (UTC)

I have drafted an alternative version of this essay at User:Cullen328/sandbox/One last chance and invite your input. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 22:57, 28 August 2021 (UTC)

The "habitual"

Héctor Rodas, i took care of my part in wording and refs, now i need you to (if you please!) add two appearances in the 2016 Segunda División play-offs for Córdoba. I thought i'd do it myself, then it dawned on me that i would most likely fail miserably :(

Thanks in advance for the teamwork again, have a great week! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 12:34, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Done. :-) Robby.is.on (talk) 12:59, 30 August 2021 (UTC)

Cool, great! One more: i think some "division" is needed at Carlos Carmona (Spanish footballer), as regular season and play-off stats seem to be mixed.

Some "pointers" to save you some trouble: in the last season with Cartagena, three of those 37 apps are from the 2009 Segunda División B play-offs (no goals); with Sporting, two of the 37 apps in 2013/14 are from the 2014 Segunda División play-offs (no goals), and two of the 43 matches in 2017/18 belong to the 2018 Segunda División play-offs (one goal).

Glad I could "help you helping me help WP", cheers :) --193.137.135.2 (talk) 08:57, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Done. Your hints were on point. "Help you helping me help WP" made me smile. :-) Robby.is.on (talk) 09:20, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Provinces of DR Congo

Hi. I removed your request for WP:RM/TR for the provinces of DR Congo. While the suggested titles are prima facie reasonable, the current titles are reasonable as well, and a case could be made that WP:TITLECHANGES applies ("don't fix if ain't broken"). If moved, what do you propose to be the content at the base titles? If disambiguation pages, that would break many existing links.
In any case, I think the matter is controversial enough that it deserves broader discussion; if you wish to pursue it, please open a formal multi-move WP:Requested move. Your original request is copied below. No such user (talk) 09:51, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

@No such user: Those weren't my requests. I requested the move at Pius N'Diefi which you did. So thanks. ;-) Robby.is.on (talk) 10:00, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
Sorry. Both of you have a username starting with "R". <Blush> No such user (talk) 10:04, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
No problem. Thanks again for your work and happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 10:07, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Sorry for the mix-up here :(

But one thing, mate: his Athletic official profile gives him (thus, i added info to intro) 242 matches, not 241. If BDFUTBOL says 241 (don't know if you "got your maths" from there), what do you think we should do?

Have a nice day! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 09:36, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi. No need to apologise. Disagreements happen all the time and that's fine. :-)
There is no discrepancy. Beñat made a single appearance in the 2006–07 season and 241 appearances between 2013–14 and 2019–20. Together that equals 242. You too! Robby.is.on (talk) 09:41, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

LOL! Forgot that single match above in the chart! All A.O.K. then ;) --193.137.135.2 (talk) 09:59, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Mayanga Maku

Hi All I already published about this former international player it's because I meet him at his own home ! He lives a nearby city of mine in Belgium ! I well know his son and grand-son (also football player). And Maku's daughter is a work colleague of my wife... Sorry if I don't give a... so-called "source". Have fun --Shanon11 (talk) 12:15, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

@Shanon11: Hi, thanks for your reply. We cannot add content to Wikipedia based on personal knowledge and experience only.
One of Wikipedia's most important policies is Wikipedia:Verifiability which states that "Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of editors. Even if you are sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it." So, we definitely need a reliable source such as an article from a mainstream newspaper, a book or magazine published by respected publishing houses etc. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 12:25, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
No prob' ! I mentionned all those informations in an article for the Belgian national newspaper La DH/Les Sports at the time. But now I forget the exact day. Friendly Yours. --Shanon11 (talk) 08:20, 5 September 2021 (UTC)
@Shanon11: Okay. We can use the newspaper article when you find it. :-) Robby.is.on (talk) 13:29, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

What goes around comes around...

...some might say, but in all my hysterics i have never been aggressive or akin to anyone (well, vandals I have, and I know even that is against the guidelines, not excusing myself). For trying to embrace the guidelines at Raphaël Guerreiro, this in reply (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:193.137.135.2). If you cannot read French and Google T also does not lend a hand i can translate, but it's really nasty!

Heart-breaking :( Take care! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 08:30, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

That's unacceptable. I have reported the attacks to AN/I: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Administrators%27_noticeboard/Incidents#Egregious_personal_attacks Robby.is.on (talk) 08:45, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

LOL! Same stuff in Bruno Gaspar, the other user does not give me any chance and reverts without explaining why! Then, they added a FALSE note reading "This is his nationality as recognized by FIFA and that is what we display here", when we do the exact opposite here!!

Can you please write him a message (i will as well)? Perhaps an account will get the respect i don't. Cheers, happy Saturday! --2001:8A0:7667:5801:F144:33B5:3583:D93E (talk) 20:08, 4 September 2021 (UTC)

What's unacceptable is anons assuming they're right. A player's nationality on the English project is not determined by FIFA-recognized allegiance, but when they're capped by that nation. They are only cap-tied when they play for that nation, not when they are given the opportunity to change. So not a false statement at. Walter Görlitz (talk) 00:36, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

Sorry to bother you ALL (Matty, Robby, Walter), article stays how Mr. Görlitz wants! --2001:8A0:7667:5801:F1B5:9CEA:491A:6619 (talk) 18:03, 5 September 2021 (UTC)

If i'm reading correctly (linking the unrelated conversations), it's more unacceptable trying to embrace guidelines than to repulsively insult a fellow editor as I was over the Guerreiro article? Interesting... Like i promised all parties involved, not touching Guerreiro's or Gaspar's article (the lede, that is) anymore! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 11:23, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

I don't understand what you're saying but it reads whiny. Robby.is.on (talk) 12:13, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

When you replied regarding the incident with the user that's being reported at ANI (in the Guerreiro article), you used the word "unacceptable" for the words they used, and of course they were (and i appreciate your kind help with that report, but seemingly no one cares to take any action). The user afterwards, regarding the Gaspar "incident", started his sentence here with "What's unacceptable is anon users assuming they're right", so i thought they were making a connection (with words) and pointing the finger at me. I've already filed a WP:FOOTY report (could be the case i missed out on some change in guidelines, wanted to be sure), most people seem to say i've operated correctly but articles stay as they are currently, no worries ;)

Apologies for being "whiny" and bothering you again, remove this entire thread if you see it fit. Have a nice day! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 12:22, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

it's more unacceptable trying to embrace guidelines than to repulsively insult a fellow editor I find these straw man arguments and bad-faith assumptions tiresome. The fact that, disappointingly, nobody has reacted to the report and nobody has sanctioned the offender, doesn't mean insults are accepted. There are many other possible reasons one can think of why nothing happened. I've already filed a WP:FOOTY report That's constructive. remove this entire thread if you see it fit Nah, I won't throw out the baby with the bathwater. ;-) Robby.is.on (talk) 08:30, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

I have already apologised for bothering you, and i reiterate that (won't happen again). Also, in case you did not notice, the IP has struck again (now here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Govvy), they re-added then reverted themselves at R. Guerreiro but not without dropping another verbal bomb on a fellow user! For the record, only told you you could delete this thread because the conversation is getting really long (and ending on a bad note for reasons that escape me, I never wanted that man, was just wiki-confiding that i don't understand why Mr. Görlitz refuses to interact with me no matter how polite i am, can not tell him that directly because i really don't like talking to myself all that much; not calling him a bad editor/person or anything like that, believe me).

Cheers, thanks and have a great day! --193.137.135.2 (talk) 09:33, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

AGAIN! This time was even more polite in the edit summary, reverted once more for embracing the guidelines (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Zeca_(footballer,_born_1988)&action=history)... --2001:8A0:7667:5801:F454:ED6C:ACD5:AF9C (talk) 18:33, 12 September 2021 (UTC)
