Concerning the leadership of North Korea[edit]

You inserted information what, on 29 June 2016, the functions of Eternal President of KPDR and Eternal Chairman of National Defense Commission were abolished. Concerning function of Eternal Chairman of National Defense Commission it is clear it was abolished de facto when National Defense Commission became State Affairs Commission. On the other hand the function of Eternal General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea was de facto abolished when the highest leading function became Chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea. Maybe the appellation as Eternal Leader of W.K.P. is a compensation of this abolition. It is clear Kim the Younger wants to be the only supreme leader and dethrones his great father and his father even from these symbolic functions, .compensating by simple appellation as Eternal Leaders of KPDR. 1948 North Korean parliamentary election[edit]

Hello. Your recent edits to this article has inserted some unclear information.

The Nohlen source states that there was only one candidate in each constituency. However, your additions have stated that there were 227 candidates in 212 constituencies. This in itself is not a problem (the Nohlen book may be wrong), but the results table suggests voters voted for or against a single party. How is this possible? Where are the 26 unsuccessful candidates? Are they the "against" votes, are they included in the "against" votes, or neither?

Also, could you explain what you mean by "power institution"? And are "religious people" people like priests, or just people who were religious?

Hello.

On constituencies, the source was the Korean History Database and it was in Korean. The 227 candidates in 212 constituencies is based on the following line in Korean:

1948년 8월 5일까지 전 북한 212 선거구에서 227명의 후보자가 등록 완료되었다. Until August 5, 1948, 227 candidates were registered in 212 constituencies throughout North Korea.

This is also found in the Korean version of this Wikipedia article, and the same information is mentioned on the following Korean articles: [1][2]

The same article also only mentions that in North Korea, 212 of the 227 candidates were elected without distinguishing to whom the votes went to.

On power institution, this is translated on the Korean term 정권기관 with religious people being based on the Korean term 종교가 which doesn't distinguish if they are priests or just those who are religious.

On the results tables, this is just based on what was written on the Korean History Database source with the names of the South Korean parties and organizations being rough translations.

No, not really. Were all 227 candidates members of the Democratic Front for the Reunification of the Fatherland, or were they opposition? Adding such vague things to the article is not very unhelpful.
Also, it doesn't matter to me what the Korean terms are. What matters is how you have translated them. If you are going to translate stuff into English, you need to have the competence to do so accurately (your use of the term "rough translations" is quite worrying). If not, you should not be adding nonsensical terms. Please address this or I will delete the text. Number 57 13:13, 6 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Re: The 227 candidates, the Korean History Database source doesn’t say if they belong to the Democratic Front. It is just assumed that they are considering how the Democratic Front operated.

Re: translations, while I said rough translations, by that I meant I did literal translations of the names of the organizations. Though, I found another source within Korean History Database that suggests the official names for the South Korean organizations mentioned in the article. I’ll cite that one under the South Korean results soon. Dear Migs005 and Number 57. I've checked in another source that includes lots of election results: Suh, Dae-Sook (1981). Korean Communism, 1945–1980: A Reference Guide to the Political System. University Press of Hawaii. ISBN 978-0-8248-0740-5.
I can confirm the number nominees and deputies (227 and 212 respectively) and that this because single candidate constituencies were not used until the next election. I could, however, not find detailed professional backgrounds of the deputies. 1981 East German general election[edit]

I was just wondering why you added indirectly elected seats in the results table for this election. The 1976 elections were the last in which the East Berlin deputies were indirectly elected, so all 500 seats were directly elected. It would be useful if you could cite your source for the split in the other election articles too – combining the two tables without adding an additional source makes the results tables look dubious as the seat-related information cannot be found in the original source for the vote totals. For the seat split in the 1981 elections page, it's an honest mistake on my part. On the seat splits on the elections prior to 1981, it is based on the following pages on the German Wikipedia:

Can you explain how you worked out the seat split from the 1976 elections based on the last link you cite?
Separate to this, if you are going to add unsourced information to a table, please leave a note stating which information the original source is used for, otherwise future editors may look at the source and see it does not contain all of the information in the table and may assume falsification. Also wanted to say thanks for this. However, one request and one suggestion – please make sure columns with numbers are right-aligned rather than left-aligned. Also, I'm not convinced the colour bars are a good idea for percentages – they just don't look like they are fit for displaying this type of number. I noticed some of the constituency results you are adding are contrary to the main results. For example, in 1919 Swiss federal election you have ten Liberal Party MPs being elected, but the summary table states 9. There are 61 FDP MPs listed, but the summary states they won 60. The Grutli Union won two seats (summary) but only one winning member is listed. It is probably worth comparing the two before adding something that is inconsistent. Hi! Really appreciate this comment. I actually looked at both the 1919 election article in German and articles of the Swiss constituencies in German (for example de:Nationalratswahlkreis_Zürich). The discrepancy in numbers, I believe, is caused by how some MPs have multiple affiliations. For example, in the case of the Grutli Union, there were two Grutli Union MPs that won in 1919. One of them was in Zurich, who was also affiliated with the SDP based on a search on the Swiss parliament website [9]. Currently having trouble finding who the Bern MP for the Grutli Union. It does, however, say that there is a Grutli Union MP from Schaffhausen (according to the Swiss parliament website) that the 1919 election article in German list as a BGB member. Not quite sure how to approach this but will definitely have a look on this again.--Migs005 (talk) 13:18, 14 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I think the main thing is to make sure the number of seats for each party is consistent in both tables. If some MPs have multiple affiliations, I would list them as the one that matches the overall results and then add a footnote stating that they were also a member of the other party. @Ruling party: I'm not Migs005 but I know something about NK too ;) The book – Suh, Dae-Sook (1981). Korean Communism, 1945–1980: A Reference Guide to the Political System. Honolulu: The University Press of Hawaii. ISBN 978-0-8248-0740-5. – is a great source of party and state personality listings prior to 1980. I've added a few old SPA elections from it using a scanner and optical character recognition (see e.g. 1962 North Korean parliamentary election). I've been planning to do more, and the CCs sound good, but unfortunately don't have that book at the moment (it's at a university library). Hello. Just noticed that the by candidate results (16 for the UND and 2 for the MUD) you added don't match the overall seat totals (17 for the UND and 1 for the MUD). State election articles[edit]

Great work on the state election articles. Can I make a couple of suggestions:

  1. Use the {{Election results}} template to create the tables – it automatically calculates the percentages (for example, it corrected the turnout in 1919 Bremen state election by calculating it automatically; I think you took the figure from the wrong cell in the source) and the automatic totalling lets you see if you've accidentally mis-typed a number as otherwise the figures won't add up.
  2. Categories like 1921 events in Europe by month are container categories for (e.g.) Category:December 1921 events in Europe and shouldn't have articles added to them. You should use the month-specific categories.

If you want to convert the articles you've already done to using {{Election results}}, I have created an Excel file that you can copy results into and it churns out most of the code automatically (it took less than a minute to convert 1921 Hessian state election).
